Bored in the house, bored in the house bored. Made the forum into a Super Mega Baseball 3 team. Did the best I could with appearances based off edits and avatars. Did the base stats and randomized quite a few of them and traits. In the 82 game season I started, we are currently 23-5. Marsh leads the way with 12 homers and Senator has 34 RBI with 5 games missed due to a pulled hammy. We have a +161 run differential lol. I upped my ego difficulty to 55 for everything so far. That will probably go up over time.

YES! ๐
This is sooooooo awesome!! ๐๐
Geese looks perfect as an old grizzled, angry baseball player ready to teach some unwritten rules to a rook ๐ I appreciate the stats too and the "composed" special skill. (Effect: doesn't freak out over bad sim results).
It reminds me so much of the FPCPP days when we would all do stuff like this too ๐ข
P.S. Before I read any of the posts, my first glance of the team picture made me think you had us all cosplaying as Scorpion from Mortal Kombat ๐
P.P.S. I've been hearing a lot of good things about Super Mega Baseball 3. I was close to trying out the second one a few months ago but then figured I'd wait for the third. To me, the game looks like a callback to Baseball Stars, Super Baseball Simulator and other "pick up and play" Baseball games with deep customization. Am I "off base" on that? LOL โพ

Nope. You are totally on the ball.
Just about everything is fully customizable. Teams, leagues, logos, players, and even individual difficulty settings for all facets of the game. Totally worth the buy.

On top of all that, its a perfect blend of simple gameplay and intuitive mechanics. Its legit one of the best baseball games in years.

Cool, thanks for the confirmation! ๐ก
It really looks to me like this generation's Baseball Stars which is very high praise from me. Baseball Stars was my second favorite NES game (right under River City Ransom). I also loved Super Baseball Simulator on SNES too. I'm not the biggest MLB fan in the world but there's something about baseball games with deep and satisfying arcade gameplay and "create a world" sim features that I've always really been into.
Kind of reminds me of a certain pro wrestling game series you guys may have heard of ๐
The price is a little steep right now for me but I put it on my wishlist and will check for deals ๐

So annoyed the NES Baseball Stars hasnโt resurfaced on Switch. The rest of the games you mention are old favourites of mine. I played Super Mega Baseball 2 and it is a worthy successor.

I remember using the Ninja Blacksox a lot cause they were ninja and that's all the reason I needed ๐
NES had so many great baseball games but Baseball Stars was my favorite. I still really liked Nintendo's "Baseball," RBI Baseball, Major League Baseball, and of course Bases Loaded. Bases Loaded was my second favorite on Nintendo.
Super Baseball Simulator 1.000 was awesome on SNES. I loved the customization. I made so many of my own teams with characters that I created. It was like my first experience with Fire Pro but in baseball form.

I go through phases where I'm interested in playing baseball games again but usually get turned off by how the fielding controls are handled, at least with older games. I'm also a total sucker for creation/customization options in games, so this was on my radar recently.
It keeps tripping me up when I hear a blog I follow refer to it as SMB3 though.

Sadly, Kuribo's shoe is banned on most regulation baseball fields. Way worse than cleats.

Yeah, it gets talked about a fair bit on the modding discord, and I ALWAYS think they're talking about Mario 3. There's been one true SMB3 for thirty years, dammit!

Again, not unlike the appeal of Liger performing Romero specials on mascots in midfield, a player running/stealing bases in Kuriboโs shoe would get me actively watching baseball. ๐ Picture this: It's bottom of the ninth, bases loaded, and the game is tied. 20 commercials have passed since the last at-bat. Even the sponsors are sweating this out. The pitcher has shown signs of fatigue but there's only one left in the pen. He has a bad reputation for hurting and walking batters. But the coach sees no other choice and calls him in. The batter shakes in his non-kuribo boots as he has to face...
