Haha, what game is that? The font looks familiar, but the it looks like every 16 bit/early ps1 game font. That's WWF No Mercy.

Apparently neither was correcting the save glitch. 🙂

No, they did fix the save glitch. Back then they even offered to exchange your bugged copy for a fixed one if you mailed it to them, which I did. You can tell if it's a revision because the product code has "-1" added to the end (NWS-NW4E-USA-1).
There's even a ROM dump of the fixed (1.1) version floating around somewhere, but I have a feeling every mod out there is built from the original release.
They didn't bother to fix any spelling errors in it, though. Like, I remember there's also "Leathal Weapon," "Tiple H Jumping Knee Attack,"and "Ladder Math Finals."

Speaking of which, anybody have an idea what "Jumping HH Pin" was supposed to stand for? It was a victory roll. I've figured out a few of the weird initializes (like Super RB standing for Rock Bottom) but could never make sense of that one.
We used to jokingly refer to it as the jumping Hunter Helmsley pin, HHH's long lost lucha libre finisher.

Maybe it's the jumping Hulk Hogan pin, brother. A move he only used in Japan when the Ax Bomber wasn't enough.
But seriously, that's a good question, especially since the front version is just a "Hopping Rolling Pin." It looks like Wrestlemania 2000 called it the same thing.
Fun fact: Apparently victory rolls are also a women's hairstyle from post-WWII.

Here's something I was wondering earlier.
In Revenge and WM2K, if you run towards the apron and hold C-Up, your character will do a nifty little slide-and-spin move under the bottom rope and stand up on the apron. And everyone does that, which looks hilarious coming from big dudes like Nash and Kane.
What I was wondering, though, was if that was inspired by something someone used to do in real life or if it was just something fun they animated to go with a gameplay mechanic.
VPW2 and No Mercy replaced it with a boring but sensible quick-step through the middle rope, for the record, and that ability doesn't seem to exist at all in World Tour as far as I can tell.

^it seems like something that young Rey Mysterio Jr, Hayabusa, or Tiger Mask I might have done IRL but I wouldn't be surprised if it was just a game mechanic
I really don't know :(

I loved finding crap like that in those games! None of it was in the instructions, but it was all there! I marked hard when I noticed you could do a dive from the inside to the outside of the ring OVER the corner post by running diagonally toward the post with an opponent outside of the ring if you were using a little guy like Rey, Juvi, or Psychosis! Also, Jericho’s most muscular pose standing pin is the BEST version of that move in any wrestling game. 🙂

My copy of No Mercy never had the glitch, but the store I bought it from was aware of the problem and offered to exchange my copy for a new one if I experienced it. I was really worried though and ended up buying an N64 gameshark to back my save up anyway. It worked out well because I had separate saves filled with different CAWs I could quickly switch between, so it was still a worthwhile investment because the thought of having to delete a CAW to make room was blasphemous to me.

Felt like I was IN outrun 2019 this morning. No traffic, but wtf?!? It’s like Daytona 500 up here! I don’t know if it’s the same everywhere, but are these lunatics trying to outrun Voldemort 19? Back to the thread topic, I’ve been thinking about legendary fighting game stages. Obvious ones that come to mind are The Pit and Dead Pool, but there are also some good, tiered ones in the sadly misguided Dead or Alive series, and some really good ones in Tekken. I know there are many more, maybe y’all have a few ideas? There’s a really old game that had a cool idea, Atari’s pit fighter. The game sucked eggs, but if you got close to the crowd surrounding the fighting area, the rowdy fans would stab you or hit you with shit, I think they also throw stuff into the arena to fight with! But who needs a knife when you can throw a bad ass kick like BUZZ!
