Okay this thread went through a bit of a paradigm shift. I had some old arenas I made in various programs between 2000-2012 posted in here. I found some old screenshots on my photobucket and decided to share them here. Then I found the ring model from FPWW and went down a whole other rabbit hole. So the thread ended up being random work in progress shots of new mock ups I'm making in Blender. THE BEST OF THE OLD ARENAS Burning Wicker Man
Shimmer / Eagles Club
Big Arena
Arenas in my custom / from scratch game engine

I really dig the layout on that "theatre setup in smallish arena" one.

Well shit, here is a dump of the FPW ring, which gives me most of the info I need to make ANY arena ever. So the ring is 8 units long (-4 to +4 in both horizontal directions). The ring floor is 1 unit off the ground. The ring posts rise 1.5 units above that. *deep breath* What rabbit hole have I gotten myself in to. Blender has changed a lot. Going to relearn some keys and make a small arena.

I'm slowly getting re-antiquated with my old 3D modeling software. A lot of the keys have changed, which is tripping me up. So I just threw this together, fumbling over the keys. A cement barrier setup. Could be a street corner, or a construction site or something. As I write this, I'm picturing like the corner of a street. Right outside the barricades could be sidewalk, and some seedy shops behind it. The entrance / stage could be like a bar the wrestlers walk out of. ;) Prickly Pete's Pub? edit: okay, going to bed. Where'd that 6 hours go? :) Just a very low detailed proof of concept. I'm not going to model the whole wood / glass front of the pub. I should have been asleep hours ago! I have so many weird ideas. What if the north and south tips of the ring were resting on the edges of two buildings, and the east and west sides were wooden planks? Or a ring just out in the middle of the desert? A rooftop ring beside one of those big neon signs?

Okay, can't leave this alone. Just something before I go out. Took inspirations from Korakuen and my War arenas. This is now PUB BRAWL with 2 competing pubs in a little plaza off the road. Because it's not textured, I'll describe it a bit so you see what I see. :) That's a street, a little curb, and a big plaza / side walk surface with 5 buildings. The plaze would be filled with typical FPW fans. I'll turn that middle building between the pubs into a platform with a PUB BRAWL sign or maybe an announcers table (can the FPW announcers face front?) I guess the bars could be like THE BLUE CORNER BAR and THE RED CORNER RESTAURANT?

Okay, I fixed up the street to wrap around both ways. But we don't need to see the street, it's only there for when the camera pans out far. But here is the finished proof of concept. I have a ton I want to pump out just for the hell of it to see how they look.

(spoiler is the Rooftop scene) Venue: 'Highmark' The rooftop from THE ROOM with scale adjustments. There's room for 2-3 rows of fans besides the roof access. I thought that access way would be interesting to model, but it's literally just a flat, slanted cube. The skybox is confusing here, because in the scene itself, it's a bright residential neighborhood when the camera is facing one way, then it faces the other, it's like foggy factories that are completely out of scale (and a scale that changes from shot to shot lol).

This requires a bit of re-interpretation.

Okay, so I realized that I have been posting my viewport captures in perspective mode. Fire Pro renders it's 3D in Orthographic / Isometric mode. So I'll post my images in isometric projection from now on to give them the proper "Fire Pro" feel. Lucha Temple. A simplified version of the Lucha Temple from Lucha Underground. No metal gates in the proper places because I would flat texture it. This would look great with finished with the proper lighting. "Highmark" in proper isometric Pub Brawl in proper isometric

Not an exact clone. Especially with the railings up top. It's much better to use that space to cram fans. I'm going to have to bring down the stands at the bottom of the scene, because the will block out the wrestlers outside of the ring. Especially when there are fans placed there. I remember back in the day when I made some of those older arenas, the shadows could take hours to render and bake into textures. Those shadows are real time from the viewport. They change in real time as a I model.

There we go, proper rails. And in "proper" Fire Pro Isometric.

I was making a ramp for that small TV studio arena I'm always bitching about, and it turned into this idea. *hums hail to the chief* I always picture something along these lines when I see Senatorial office stuff. Somewhat inspired by the old "In Your House" entryways mixed with the whitehouse. Not sure where the best place for the crest is. btw, that logo is Sen and Brightly's.
