I think it's pretty stupid when the folks at the Weather Channel encourage people to evacuate and or seek shelter in the path of a storm...only to send one of their people to stand in the street while said storm is arriving. They need to have people in shelters so they can act like it's worse than it really is. |

Power went out presumably due to heavy rain at 3:30am tonight when I was in the middle of an Xcom game and having three PSN downloads going. Only have 15% power left on my cell phone but the power outage website says power should be up at 6:15am. It flickered on a second ago but went off again. Been sitting in my porch smoking cigars and listening to audiobooks until my phone dies. It’ll be off to read some more Invincible by flashlight when that happens unless the power comes back on in the next 45 minutes.

I was watching a show that features restaurants and was reminded of a practice I love from back when we all used to be able to eat in public, the indoor toque (sorry, “beanie” or “winter hat” for y’all everywhere that isn’t Canada). It could be august, but these people will wear a toque inside while they’re eating a nice dinner. Sometimes the toque even defies the laws of physics and is not even pulled down onto the wearers head, but instead looks to be thrown on top of the head from a distance or balanced sloppily on top. It’s an interesting practice carried out by what most certainly must be perpetually cold individuals. 🙄
That also reminds me of this beautiful scene… 😁

This is not really a big issue, and not even that big of a deal, but I just recently discovered that there is a real life wrestling promotion that uses the same name that I have been using for my fantasy promotion, SLAM Pro Wrestling, and it really pissed me off since I have been using this name since my SFPWXP animating days, something like over 20 years. Now I feel like having to change my promotion's name.

This is not really a big issue, and not even that big of a deal, but I just recently discovered that there is a real life wrestling promotion that uses the same name that I have been using for my fantasy promotion, SLAM Pro Wrestling, and it really pissed me off since I have been using this name since my SFPWXP animating days, something like over 20 years. Now I feel like having to change my promotion's name. I know that feeling. I have a tag team I created back on FPWD and their names are Blade and Steel. I was listening to Jim Cornette talk about a team called the Master Blasters which originally had Kevin Nash and some other guy who according to Cornette was really bad. I went to watch their debut match to see what he was talking about and when their names were announced as Blade and Steel I was like, well son of a ...... I tried thinking of new names but I really like Blade and Steel, so I figured screw it. Most people don't remember the Master Blasters anyways. |

Finally had a bit of time to myself (read 1.5 hours), so decided to treat myself and start the copy of The Last of Us 2 that I borrowed a while back , I loved the first game and have been anticipating playing this one since it dropped. It was GLORIOUS for about 15-20 min until my PS4 died. I’ve tried a bunch of shit, but from the sounds of things, I don’t think the HDD is working anymore (no drive/initialization sounds on power up) and the TV doesn’t recognize it’s connected. I know someone that wants to look at it, he knows his shit, so we’ll see.
The BEST part of all of this is upon looking around, I can’t find a replacement PS4, and if I do, it’s scalpers selling them for at least double retail price. I’ve heard about all of the chip shortage bullshit, but this is dumb. I held off on getting a switch for ages because I couldn’t justify purchasing a souped up 3DS for the same price or more than a 1TB PS4 or Xbox, now here we are. Thank you scum bag scalpers.
Edit: for fun, I dug out the old PSP a buddy of mine gave me ages ago, that mother f$&ker works PERFECTLY! Still had tekken 5 in it, that game is amazing on that system!

I’d like to trace back in movies the first time a tilt-a-whirl headscissors takedown was used by a female protagonist and thank them for making it standard fare for EVERY female action movie character since, rendering the move throw away at best. 😁

I have realized a flaw in most Christmas movies that have Santa as a real person. The kids believe in Santa, but the adults don't. But how do they explain the fact that every year there are gifts under the tree that the parents didn't buy? Wouldn't the parents question where they came from? How could they not believe? Now I can't watch movies that depict Santa as real because I just keep thinking about this.

First post holiday walk of the year. Always get back pain when I first start up again but it doesn't take long to build those muscles up. Was going to wait until it was warmer or when I started vacation; but a recent look in the mirror told me it was time to stop postponing it and the roads are clear so might as well start again today. Didn't get 6 miles in, but got one lap at 3 miles in and at a -12 temperature. Fortunately it's not windy or I probably wouldn't have gone out. May go back out again before dark to try and get a full six miles in so I can work back up to peak capacity of doing 12 miles a day and an hour on the spin cycle. The weights will start again soon, but my basement is still too cold to break them out.
