+18, FPD All Japan now up.
The All Japan roster after NOAH left but before Mutoh and his buddies came in.
Thank god they have legends on there, even if they do have a great nucleus with Kawada, Tenryu, Hase & Steve Williams. Barebones roster made even more barebones that by the time most people got the game, they would have to move Kakihara to New Japan, making it even more barren. Imagine you're Makoto Baba. You've seen all your wrestlers but two board on that ark with Misawa. THEN, one of them, Kakihara, after ONE match in NOAH, crawls back and wants his job back. AND YOU GIVE HIM HIS JOB BACK, because having 3 wrestlers is better than having two.
And then, of course, he fucked off to New Japan within the next, what, 6 months?
And then you wonder why she liked Johnny Ace. At least he was loyal!
I will be porting the DLC once I'm through with the default roster. Including finishing the never before ported Rally Fighters.

Every FPD Add-On is now up! FPD is done!
Now doing, Fire Pro G.
The first Fire Pro I owned. I saw a short but glowing review for it with a single screenshot in a gaming magazine and the same magazine had an advertisement for a mail order shop that had it listed. The ad was yellow with black lettering, just a wall of text. I knew from other people that you could run anything on PS1 with the GameShark / PaperClip deal so I was set to run an import game. I ordered it.
Weeks later it came and MAN I was lost. I didn't know about the community yet, that wouldn't come until many months later. So no translation guide, no friendly Freeman or Kagura or IceMaster to hold my hand. I couldn't make head or tails of the game, and learned by trial and error as I went along. Once I figured how to get the character select screen, I was even more lost. Who the fuck were those people? Oh. Here's Jushin Thunder Liger, I remember him. Well, here's Vader. Is that TAKA Michinoku? Hakushi? And then I saw WWC. And WFW. I knew those guys, and there I knew this game was awesome and was just as advertised. A game that had BOTH of them! And all these other wrestlers I didn't know! A brand new world was opening up to me.
And then I got my ass kicked. And again. And again. And again. And again. Trial and error, got the handle of it.... started winning.
I didn't play with edits much, because I didn't know what the hell I was doing. When I did, I mostly did appearences. Like, I did Flair. He was missing. Or rather locked. But I didn't know that. I didn't know how to save them, or anything for that matter.
I mostly felt like a rat going through a maze navigating the interface.
As a matter of fact, looking at it right now, I fucking hate it LOL.
But this is the game I'm doing next. Many uniques and rares in this one. And of course, the Ranking Mode edits are getting ported too.

Wow, your experience completely mirrors mine with FPD as it was my first FP game ๐ฅ
I had heard about the Fire Pro series for years but never had the means to import or play a game.
Then in early 2001 I saw an ad in a magazine for FPD on Dreamcast. I bought it two months later.
I still remember sitting down in April of 2001 to play my first Fire Pro session of my life.
I was so blown away by the roster that I did a 4 on 4 match and then marked out when I saw the teams of 4 all marching down to the ring together. I was so excited at this point and had no idea what was about to happen to me. Just total and brutal disappointment at my inability to play or understand the game engine!! ๐
I couldn't win a grapple to save my wrestler's life and I couldn't connect with any strikes. After like five matches i put the game down. I tried it a few days later to no further success.
It sat for a year - equivalent to "2 glitches wiping out my No Mercy game". I decided to try FPD again, but this time actually check out the guides. And within a month, I finally figured out how to play the game and navigate the menus. (it would be another six months until I had any idea how to competently make an edit, let alone a good one) Seeing the success I had with the guides from GameFAQ, a few months later I checked out the community and was pleasantly surprised at finding THE best gaming community I ever imagined existed.
But yeah, there was something intangible and magical about playing Fire Pro for the first time. Also, FPD was such a special game in the way that everything was presented. Although FPW is clearly better, I honestly enjoyed the overall "feel" of FPD more than FPR which I preferred to FPW. I dunno, maybe it's the console experience, maybe it's having the actual CD (or GD for the Dreamcast) in front of me with that FIRE liner art. But those early days of FPD just had this incredible feeling, similar to the early days of SF2.

Phil- on FPD, weโre the promotions broken up into smaller stables after renames like FPR? Or is NJPW all the wrestlers
In searching online to organize them, they just live everybody under each promotion.

The Fire Pro Returns rosters on the workshop are missing some guys. I think Pwny took some guys out since Spike released the NJPW dlc. I want to get all the canon Spike edits and decided to start with FPR and there were a couple of guys missing or were hard to find. I know he took Tenzen off and i think Satoshi Kojima steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1083668668

In light of putting up the specific game sets, maybe he's reorganizing them. I noticed the same, but he's still churning away on 6MS at the moment as I see new ones going up.
