Also, big news coming about the Sony / Rockstar partnership deal coming. Rockstar is supposed to make an announcement about the GTAV Remaster and GTA Online games, but also make an announcement likely related to GTAVI. It was rumored about six months ago Sony had paid 750million for exclusivity rights to GTAVI or possibly an entirely new Rockstar IP.
Very interested to hear about these, especially a potential GTA VI. The rumors for the past year was that they would go back to Miami/Vice City. I can't say I'm all that interested in that happening. I don't want to see them treading old ground for the third game in a row. Granted, I loved GTA V's reimagination of San Andreas and don't feel that affinity toward Vice City as a result of not playing it. But I'd really love to see them choose an entirely new area. I had the most fun in GTA VI in the northern rural area so it would be interesting to see them choose a place that isn't primarily urban. And while I don't expect this given the way their maps grow every game (including RDR2), it would also be interesting if they could give us more interaction with each building even if it's at the expense of a smaller game area. I mean, imagine having the map the size of San Andreas (or even half that) but being able to go into every building.

I really don't understand the point of exclusivity, especially in today's technological climate.
Consoles have been literal PCs for at least the last few generations now.

I 100% agree. And I think that's the issue. The Sony vs. MS "war" is less relevant now than it used to be. One of the only things keeping it afloat is the exclusivity battle. Without that battle, either console could become obsolete.
I get that Sony and MS may have some hardware differences but do most consumers recognize them? Would playing the majority of games be significantly different on either one? And if not, then most gamers wouldn't care which system they are using. So the only things that really separates them are brand loyalty and exclusives.
I think the concept of exclusivity is seen as necessary by both Sony and Microsoft. Without that, there isn't justification for both of their systems existing. There just aren't enough differences in the hardware. And with PSN basically becoming Xbox Live last generation and charging for online pay, that's another difference that is no longer around. Aside from brand loyalty and the general concept of "competition making both sides better," I don't really see difference between the two consoles.
So without that exclusivity, they have no way to stand out from each other. At least that's true in the US market. In the Japan market, I think Xbox continues to struggle in their efforts and the response.
With more console games going to PC (despite being exclusive to one console or another), one really just needs a powerful PC, a Switch, old consoles, and a ball in a cup and they are almost completely set with games.

FFXVI speculation and info dump. The more I hear about the game the more I am interested in it.

Red Dead Redemption 2: Remastered is now showing up on Amazon.com for a release in December for PS5 and Xbox.
IOI teases a new James Bond game in the works
EDIT: Big news from the Capcom hack. Apparently a whole slew of games for next gen have been found to be in development including:
Resident Evil Outrage Dragons Dogma 2 (please have online multiplayer, PLEASE!) Street Fighter 6 (2022 release)
Rock Man (aka Mega Man) Resident Evil 4 Remake Onimusha New York Monster Hunter 6 Biohazard Apocalypse Super Street Fighter 6 (2023 release) Final Fight Remake Power Stone Remake Ultra Street Fighter 6 (2024 release) Resident Evil Hank (I'm hoping that's just a mistype for Resident Evil Hunk who I have been saying for years needs his own game.)

That's certainly lines up with how they sold GTA 5 on the then new PS4/XBox One after their resounding success in the previous gen. Heck, IIRC, they're retouching GTA 5 for the new consoles too. I'd be more than a little shocked if the above image is completely false.

Figured this thread was good as any.
Has anyone tried Fire Pro on the PS5 yet?
I assume everything runs ok?

Some twitter users have mentioned it works.
Also some new info, supposedly leaked from insiders on the big upcoming announcements Sony has teased, including the return of Metal Gear and Silent Hill to the PS5.

Adding more fuel to the fire on Metal Gear Remake and Silent Hills being in development as PS5 exclusives.
Leading a little more credibility to Bluepoint doing a Metal Gear Solid Remake; the distinct Metal Gear Rex roar has been heard in Demon Souls Remake.

That would be great. I’ve been wanting to replay MGS but the original is pretty rough to play now. i recently got the platinum trophy on MGS5 and loved all of my 300+ hours of gameplay.
