I thought we could use a general discussion thread that isn't news or crazy moments but rather your thoughts, how you play and experience the game, etc. I find my core experience with World to be quite different than Returns. I used to play Returns a lot. In World I mostly sim. Other than the tutorial and a few games against my brother online (does ANYONE ever play online?), I don't actually play anymore. I keep telling myself that I'm still in the "roster organization" phase but hey, the game has been out for what, a year now? I'm not anywhere finished with testing, tweaking and organizing edits. One of the reasons it is taking so long is because I make copies of every Workshop edit I download and tweak them to my liking. Sometimes it's just small logic touches like discretion or cooperation, sometimes it's the moveset, normalizing the stats or just changing the dreaded 0,0,0 black to the lighter version. I used to postpone my fed events until I'm done organizing the roster. Realizing it'll never end (damn you, unlimited edit slots, damn you!) and considering I already have enough people to get the fed going, I decided to start. Of course, matches are simmed here too (for now at least) and not played like they were in Returns. Makes for a fun and very different experience! I also can't sit and "only" play FPW. I need to do something else on another screen or it feels like a waste of time Usually it's watching wrestling and often the wrestler that I am watching is the one I am also simming\tweaking. This brought me to think about how similar FPR and FPW effected my viewing of wrestling in this regard. I am back to watching wrestling in the "edit maker" mode. I often watch and ask myself "I wonder if this guy has been made", "how can I make him better in FPW?", "Is that move in FPW" and so on FPR did the same to me, until very late in its lifetime when there were too many new moves and FPR started feeling stale. FPR (and SFPWXP) introduced me to puro. The classic "who is that guy in the green trunks who throws elbows?" story. With FPW, despite knowing most wrestling out there, I still find myself discovering new territories thanks to our awesome edit makers. I watched the smallest indy matches thanks to DJKM and for the first time, I watched a full DDT show thanks to toyzoo which felt all kinds of awkward but in a goose good way I believe that the director said something like he didn't think the game was complete or in a good state during release. I very much agree, the game has quite a few issues, mainly in form of bad UI and lack of true new content. Yes, I know the team is doing its best so I am super forgiving and just thankful to have a FirePro. Had it been another brand, I wouldn't be surprised to find myself saying "they had 10 years, come on...". With that said, I'm very happy to be at this point. The game feels fresh. Despite being out for a while (in gaming terms), it still feels like the very beginning because we all know Fire Pro is built to last. There's a lot of potential, and a lot of new content on the way and just everything around the game is great - passionate developers, community, (new) forum, modding, Steam workshop. So yeah, just some random rambling from me. Feel free to share your thoughts!

I have found that Fire Pro World has mainly given me something to think about. I spend more time planning what fed I want to run, creating roster lists, planning out spreadsheets to track my results than I actually do inside the game. Once I get into the game, I spend a lot of time organizing the rosters just the way I want them and eventually simming. Yet, it seems like no time passes at all before I have another great idea and I end up starting over from scratch. I wish I could just stick with something but I haven't had any luck with that in 10 years so I don't know why that would change.

I dont make edits, so im waiting for otaku’s edits to trickle through before promoter comes out. I just find i want one consistent approach to editing and otaku has alot of early ‘00 indy guys, and the matches normally end with good finishes
The same as most people a year in im still simming tournaments and just making promotions ready for promoter. I think once fighting road and fire promoter comes out that could almost be classed as ‘day one’ and thats when everyones playtime will substantially increase, it still feels like its a beta game right now
I feel like custom arenas will be added to workshop uploads at some point, and that what we can edit and upload will increase over time. Once the ps4 stuff is done and built alot of cool stuff can be incrementally added. It makes sense overall that arenas are the next thing to allow to be officially edited and customised

I'm working in Eddie Kingston (King in Impact) at the moment.

I had never heard of Fire Pro Z until today, Youtubed it and thought it looked pretty similar to Returns. However did it include a licensed Tokyo Dome? Or could you rename arena's on that game?
Nonetheless I watched an entrance in that arena and thought "Wow, wish entrances looked that spectacular on world!"

Also just waiting on your full NXT stuff, it’s all fantastic work! :) big fan

I got Fire Pro World when it first came out, and got a bunch of edits and simmed a bunch of tournaments and leagues, as one does, but it got old after a few months. I played it a little, and it was fun, but with no structured single-player mode it was kinda empty. Running tournaments and dream matches choosing from All The Guys Ever, also felt empty with there being no real structure or point behind it.
Running a promotion, with shows and characters and plot and hierarchy has really helped me engage with Fire Pro World. Fire Pro is a tremendous game, but it's so unfocused and unstructured, playing it is almost like blank page syndrome or option overload. I'm very much looking forward to the single player DLC to give me an engaging means to actually, y'know, play the game.

I completed the entire main roster (minus the Singhs and Wolfe, who I have nearly finished). I'll get to finishing NXT when I fill a few missing gaps I have in other promotions.

I have the same problem. The fun seems to be planning it all out and setting it up. Really, I just need Fire Pro World as an excuse to make spreadsheets.

It's the definitive version of Fire Pro, the one that will live on forever.
I don't think we'll fully realize its potential until Spike stops to support it and the game essentially becomes ours to mod even more thoroughly than we already have without having respect the fact that they have DLC to sell.
We can keep it updated forever. When we get sick of the UI, I'm sure we can just change that too and make it feel different. The Workshop and stable longterm hosting solutions like Google Drive make all of our work a lot more durable and less prone to get wiped out.

Don't get anywhere near Football Manager...

Seriously, I can't see how there will ever be a better/more permanent version of Fire Pro.
Long may it thrive.

For over a decade now, I've been booking everything as a shoot. Like it's a legitamate sport. It all started years ago when I saw my first MMA event. It was a Pride FC tape, with an amazing main event between Sakuraba and Renzo Gracie. Immediately afterwards I was jonsing to play some sort of mma game, but the closest I had was Virtual Pro Wrestling 64, so I just started booking in that as if it was MMA, and it just stuck. I switched over to firepro starting with the first advance game, and here I am almost 20 years later, still straight shootin'.
The promotions are ranked in terms of pro, semi-pro, etc., by letter grade, so my rosters don't reflect their real life counterparts. (Besides WWE and TNA, which I've always felt the need to mirror real life for some reason. I can't explain why lol)
So basically my S rank leagues are Noah, Wrestle-1, WWE, and ROH. A rank is AJPW, NXT, and TNA (which used to be S rank but got bumped down due to lolTNA.) NJPW is the sole b rank, and is mainly for younger, unproven talent. Everything else is an amateur league.
Because, it's a shoot, there are no dramatic, complex storylines, and that may seem limiting to some, but I can't see myself booking any other way at this point. Rivalries and storylines can still form naturally, the way only firepro can, and I've had a lot of memorable moments.
Jun Akiyama has been the "John Cena" of my universe, having gained the most success. I even went on a 17 defense title run with him, until Kobashi finally took me down. Kojima winning a tournament with over 800 people in it TWICE was unfathomable. The story that naturally built up to it even moreso, as it was looking like a Tenzan vs Kojima final before Big Show demolished Tenzan in the semis. So not only did Kojima defy astronomical odds, he avenged his best friend. All simmed btw. It just happened that way.
Guys getting promoted is also a fun story. I get a real sense of accomplishment when it happens, because I've constructed close entertaining matches and worked towards building this guy up over a long period of time, to where it feels right to bump him up.
Anyway, that's mine. I'm actually really excited to hear about everyone else's storys. We have a lot of creative people here, and it will be great to hear everyone's history with the game. Personally I'd love to hear more about orochigeese's world as it seems hes got some whacky stuff going on there. The best part is, with the ease of sharing content in the new game, we can share anything people like in this thread, whether it's a wrestler or entire promotion.

I feel like i should type more here because back then i was just another guy who didn't know how to make edits back in Returns and just had fun playing the game and downloading savefiles.
Now I'm a edit making machine, ORIGINAL EDITS EVEN! I never imagined the day would come where a wrestling game would become such a big part of my life, much less that i would be making friends in the fire pro community. Fire Pro World has made my life happier and better.
Long live Fire Pro <3

When Fire Pro Returns came out on PS2 in the US I caught wind of the way people would use the MAX drive to use these massive saves of created wrestlers. Having run feds my entire life whether it be using action figures, then moving onto the Smackdown games alongside my brother and eventually my own fed on No Mercy using created wrestlers I would find the posted formulas for creating - Fire Pro sounded like the ultimate game for me.
Unfortunately high school me didn't have the money for a MAX drive but I did eventually get a copy of the game. I played around a bit using the defaults I knew and even made 3-4 characters using formulas posted. But then the game just collected dust for a number of years.
Years later somehow or another I once again was reminded of Fire Pro. I had been running feds on the WWE 2K games, but Universe mode was just "eh" and my real desire was using indy guys anyhow. So when I found DJKM's Chikara save and eventually his others I knew I needed to give it another go. And since I had money now I was able to get the Max Drive. I've been hooked ever since.
