My understanding is that the refs you pay for will improve your match percentages

I didn't even realize you could pay for refs. I also don't understand why only some of my refs popped up. I have 3 created ones but only 1 is available. Do we need to scout for refs too? LOL. Can we send a ref on a training expedition to meet other refs!? I'm visualising a show with more refs than wrestlers now!

I'm visualising a show with more refs than wrestlers now! "It's still ref to me, damn it!" We need more refs in Fire Promoter mode. Maybe we need "Ref Promoter" mode where we teach refs how to referee by sending them around the world and booking them in training seminars. I'd play it!

"Earl Hebner has been involved in a backstage fight with Vader. This will surely impact on his popularity!" I've seen some nice ref designs and I'm feeling really lazy. The only "Creative" one I made was Conrad Thompsom to ref a match between Bruce Prichard and Eric Bischoff. Maybe I'll make some cool ones for Promoter.

Quick question. At the end of a month i'll sometimes see a screen saying i have a tournamentscheduled with another promotion. But when i try to work with them they say i'm not popular enough or that our relationship needs to be stronger. Is this a mistranslation? Or am i missing something?

Mistranslation it just means they are holding a tournament

I do wonder if they are actually inviting you specifically to offer a wrestler to them for that tournament or just letting you know they are having a tournament that month as opposed to a regular event. Promotions on good terms with you usually allow you to do offer your wrestlers to them anyway. It's good to know which promotions are having tournaments vs. running regular cards so that you don't give too many of your wrestlers to one promotion for a single month.

If you attempt to sign someone & you placed the highest possible bid to get them and they turn you down. Is it worth trying again? Either straight away next month or a few months later. Or is that them saying they will never come to your company?

I've signed rich swan on the middle off when he was a free agent. he accepted straight away.
I then turned the console off forgetting to save after that.. but had saved just before it. So thought nothing of it .. reloaded the save, offered the middle again and he said no.
hmm... quit. reloaded. offered highest offer. NOPE.
kept trying and trying.... nope nope nope.
gave up and tried again a month later. nope. left it 4 more months and he said yes for the middle offer.

I've found the most reliable way to sign a free agent is to first invite them for a show as a freelancer and then to try to sign them afterwards.

Thanks for the info. It means all might not be lost then, if somebody says no the first time.

Good point. & I can second this then, as Road Warrior Hawk signed for me the month after I invited him in as a one-off.
