The Z-1 Climax has reached it's conclusion, and it was a night of fantastic matches with big time results all around! Thanks to everyone who came out to watch the tournament! Had a minor technical glitch during the show, so the VOD is in two parts if you missed the show: Part one: www.twitch.tv/videos/304339380Part two: www.twitch.tv/videos/304357841ZIP JAPAN Z-1 Climax Night Two Friday, Aug 31 RESULTS: Z-1 Climax Second Round Match A - Donnie Doogan (ZIP JAPAN) vs Roderick Brookes (kingradical) A wild and violent brawl to open the show. Brookes hit plenty of weapons shots but Doogan's display of power was impressive. Z-1 Climax Second Round Match B - Lariat Brisco (Blehschmidt) vs Hiko Sojirou (brick9mm) Crazy sprint match with both guys hitting big moves right out of the gate. After several close calls for both, Hiko completed the comeback with a fantastic strike reversal -> back switch -> Murder backdrop sequence. Early shout for MOTN here. Z-1 Climax Second Round Match C - Akira Shinjo (ZIP JAPAN) vs Kenneth (xeroprogram) Shinjo seemed slightly off his game tonight, an absorbed an extreme amount of punishment. He showed great spirit on several kickouts but eventually fell to a 619 from Kenneth. Z-1 Climax Second Round Match D - Yoshihiro Mikasa (thelodger) vs Blayze Kindler (Zealot) The shortest match of the tourney saw Yoshihiro Mikasa put in a dominating aerial performance against Blayze Kindler. Very impressive stuff from a big fellow like Mikasa. Mixed Tag Match - Demon Otsu/Aya Mizuno vs Jin Matsuda/Momoe Ito The Face Lock head 'round the world. Momoe was a fearless force of nature in this match, repeatedly going after Otsu both in and out of the ring. She hit him with powerbombs, a Phoenix Suplex and eventually got the well deserved victory for her team by making the Demonic one tap out. Incredible stuff. Z-1 Climax Third Round Match E - Match A winner vs Match B winner Another excellent performance by both men in the first semifinal, with Doogan managing to eke out a hard earned victory via another Doogan Hammer II. Z-1 Climax Third Round Match F - Match C winner vs Match D winner Mikasa putting on another impressive showing against the very capable Kenneth. Mikasa can really move his bulk around the ring effectively and used himself more or less as a battering ram here. Doogan vs Mikasa final! ZIP JAPAN Tag Team Championship match - Storm of the Century (Nakajima/Thunder Fist) vs Green Crush (Kaneshiro/Takayama) (c) This went all kinds of wrong for Storm of the Century. Nakajima was busted open very early, and Thunder Fist tried to buy him time to recover by absorbing ridiculous amounts of damage himself. It was a noble gesture, but ultimately futile as Green Crush largely isolated Fist, and beat him up. Fist got lots of big shots in, but had no answer for Kiriyama's technical prowess from the ground. Solid title defense for the Green machine. ZIP JAPAN Junior Championship match - Johnny Rekless vs Darkness HAGE (c) MOTN, no question. This shit was straight up insane, both guys sprinting hard from the opening minute into a head dropping, high flying masterpiece of a match. Both men displayed some fantastic aerial skill and fortitude, but Johnny Rekless stepped up in the biggest way for the finish. Ringside dive, Flip Piledriver on the floor, toss back into ring for a back to back aerial barrage...twisting senton and Inverted 450 for the win! Incredible result, and Johnny Rekless is the new ZIP JAPAN Junior Heavyweight Champ! Z-1 Climax Finals - Match E winner vs Match F winner The tournament final delivered in a big way. Two big boys clashing hard in another fast sprint. Not surprising given that both guys had already wrestled twice tonight and were looking to end this final quickly. They each went to their finishing moves inside of 10 minutes to trade nearfalls, and continued to batter the hell out of each other until a huge Original Doogan Hammer put Mikasa away for good. Donnie Doogan wins the Z-1 Climax Tournament and will face Daisuke Shimura for the ZIP JAPAN Heavyweight Championship at the earliest opportunity! Thanks again to everyone who was at the show/supported ZIP JAPAN/submitted an edit for the tourney. Now that the Z-1 Climax is complete, I'll be reverting to my usual, "once every two weeks" schedule for ZIP JAPAN shows. The next event will be on Friday Sept 14th, card TBA. See you there!

My match was so short it even shrunk the results image lol.
Jokes aside, this was another exciting show.

I should mention here that this week's ZIP show gave me a shot in the arm. Always a great time in the chat for a show and I wouldn't have run my own if it didn't pick me up like it did. Now for the show itself: -Is Doogan a friggin beast or what? Seriously! All three matches of his, he just destroyed everything in front of him, and there were certainly no slouches in there! Be afraid, Daisuke, be very afraid. -Hiko vs Lariat was very good, no surprises there, but it's always good to see Hiko on top of his game. -Unfortunately, Shinjo was NOT on top of his game. Hate seeing him put out an underwhelming performance like that, just feels wrong. Kenneth tore him apart, and congratulations on that, it's not easy to demolish a man like Shinjo that way. -Mikasa was flat out awesome! Seriously, he needs a provisional ZIP contract after his showings. Not only did he look competitive or dominant against some superb opponents, he looked like he fit right in with the ZIP roster. And that's high praise to say the least. You can bet that when I get Lightning Pro up and running that he's invited for a match. -Momoe Ito scares me. Momoe Ito should not scare me. But she does. That is all. -HAGE vs Rekless was one of the best matches in ZIP history! Two of the best Junior Heavies in the game holding nothing back at all. HAGE's veteran craftiness and Rekless's single minded determination to claim his spot, and not a moment of this one felt out of place. I'm a HAGE fan, but Rekless has my absolute respect. What a warrior.
-Such a great show overall, such positive vibes, so I figured I'd separate this part from the rest. Yes, Storm of the Century's match was a stinker. Maybe not if you didn't have a dog in this fight, or if you preferred Green Crush, but man, that was a shame. Hated seeing my guys go out like that when they came so close to getting their titles back. And even there, it told a compelling story with Wataru being taken out of things early on, Fist valiantly taking on two dangerous opponents on his own, Nakajima attempting to salvage everything in a last ditch effort, and all of it just falling flat. The only drawback on an otherwise wonderful event.

Thanks for your comments Senator :D
Yes Doogan is a monster when he wants to be, and the Z-1 Tourney really seemed to motivate him. I've done two if these invitational tourneys now and both times the thing was won by a ZIP JAPAN guy lol. maybe for this fall's Super Z Cup I'll only include submitted edits and no ZIP guys.
SotC didn't turn out how I'd hoped but it told a good story so I'm satisfied. HAGE vs Rekless couldn't have been better and yeah, Momoe Ito just upped her spot on the card considerably with that showing.
So, Reiko has announced that due to his incredibly strong showing in the Z-1 Climax tourney, she has extended an invitation to Yoshihiro Mikasa for a couple more bookings in ZIP JAPAN. I'm excited to see him compete against some more regular ZIP roster members.
Card for the next event has been added to the first page :D

woo, I'm back from a few days in the woods, my annual psychedelic forest experience was a great success. I sadly have an exceedingly busy week, so I probably won't have time to promo or anything, but ZIP JAPAN is still a go for this Friday Night!
Doogan VS Shimura should be awesome, as will Hanako Yoshii vs Momoe Ito...and let's not forget Z-1 Tourney darling Yoshihiro Mikasa making his official ZIP JAPAN debut against former heavyweight champ Demon Otsu! See you there!

apologies to all for the technical difficulties that plagued the stream tonight.
We got about half the show in the can, I will be attempting to stream the remainder of the card tomorrow, assuming internet service cooperates. I'll post here when I go live.

I'm gonna try finishing up this card this morning, starting at 11am (ie in about 40 minutes) That way I'll be done before Firehawks 49th Parallel finals begin. Hopefully some folks can make it :P
EDIT: of course I converted the times wrong and thought the 49th parallel was going to be earlier today, so I rushed to finish my show for no reason lol

Well if only my internet service had the same Fighting Spirit as ZIP JAPAN wrestlers, lol. Sadly the broadcast was split over two days due to my awful connection problems, but I appreciate folks who made the effort to stick with the show throughout the issues. Let's get into the results, some big news coming out of this show ZIP JAPAN Fighting with Spirit Friday, Sept 14 - Aya Mizuno vs Eun-jin Choi Really excellent opener with Eun-jin Choi having the match of her career so far, dominating the former Joshi Champ down the stretch and pinning her clean with her finish in the center of the ring. - Yutaro Ichikawa/Tora Katsu vs Satoshi Iguchi/Shuji Tsukamoto This was the Ichikawa show. He was flipping and diving and throwing himself around like a maniac throughout...including one hilarious spot where he dove over the top rope to ringside....onto no one at all. Eventually he caught Tsukamoto with a Northern Lights right in the corner of the ring, leaving Iguchi no chance to save. - Mad Bomber vs Mr. Suplex I dunno how in the world this match lasted as long as it did, both guys were into large damage before 10 minutes were up and they were killing each other with all their biggest moves for more than half of the match. Suplex managed to kick out of an Avalanche Powerbomb after taking a Mad Rush Bomb on the floor, but eventually the onslaught on powerbombs was too much. Fatal 4 Way Elimination match - Psycho Witch vs Suki ZIP vs Yumi Yamaguchi vs Cutie Booties Amazing performance from Psycho Witch, this was probably MOTN, packed with insane brutal action. Suki was first eliminated by an Angelic Driver from Yumi, but Witch was the one doing the majority of the damage in there. Cutie and Psycho brawled outside the ring ring forever while Yumi just stood in the ring watching...and then Psycho Witch rolled into the ring and instantly made Yumi tap to a sick choke. Cutie and Psycho continued kicking the shit out of each other until Witch finally slapped on the Dragon Clutch to end the insanity. Psycho Witch is terrifying. - Maki Yoshida vs GORO Another hard hitting encounter between these two, who know each other very well from their Heavyweight Title feud last year. Plenty of nearfalls for both, with Yoshida eventually securing the big win via his Blue Crush. Archive match from 2004 - Takeshi Kiriyama vs Akira Shinjo The show was running long due to the Junior tag and Joshi Battle Royal so I opted to cut this match from the card. - Yoshihiro Mikasa vs Demon Otsu Awesome main roster debut for Mikasa, as he took everything dished out by former Heavyweight Champ Otsu and gave back even more. Sadly the technical problems the show experienced means that the actual finish was not recorded, but that takes nothing away from Mikasa's performance here, defeating Otsu with his Fire Thunder finisher in a MOTN contender. Triple Threat to determine No 1 Contender for ZIP JAPAN Junior Championship - ECKO vs Darkness HAGE vs Ichiro Katagiri Fast paced juniors action, with all 3 guys working hard suplexing and kicking like their lives depended on it. ECKO forced Katagiri to tap out with his Cross STF before HAGE caught ECKO with a cross arm German to set up a mouthwatering rematch between Darkness HAGE and Johnny Rekless for the Junior Championship. To determine No 1 Contender for ZIP JAPAN Tag Team Championship - Jimmy Nails/Mickey Grinds vs Thunder Fist/Wataru Nakajima A real tag team war here, with both teams seemingly eager to do battle on the arena floor. Plenty of solid action and near falls for both sides in a very closely contested match. Sadly for fans of Storm of the Century, Nails n Grinds came out on top when Grinds Turbo Dropped Thunder Fist while Nakajima was too busy outside the ring to make the save. Nails n Grinds vs Green Crush for the tag titles will be on the next show. ZIP JAPAN Joshi Championship match - Momoe Ito vs Hanako Yoshii (c) Great back and forth match, with Momoe diving all over the place and Yoshii doing her best to keep Momoe grounded and work the arms. Several very close calls for both girls, but in the end, Momoe's Face Lock proved decisive, just as it did vs Demon Otsu last time out. Momoe is on the hottest streak of her young career, and is your new Joshi Champion! (sorry Senator :P) ZIP JAPAN Heavyweight Championship match - Donnie Doogan vs Daisuke Shimura (c) A slightly deflating main event match, it seems Daisuke Shimura was not at 100% coming back from his quadriceps injury, and the ring rust was very evident here. Add in the fact that Doogan was riding the freight train of momentum after his stellar performance in the Z-1 Climax tourney, and this one didn't last long. Doogan Hammer II for a nearfall, immediately followed by a huge Original Doogan Hammer to put away Mr Fighting Spirit. Donnie Doogan is Heavyweight Champion again! Apologies again for how this show panned out from a technical standpoint. I hate when stuff like that happens, but what can you do? Next show will take place Friday Sept 28th, card will be posted soon.
