You joke, but I feel like since it doesn't have the NJPW name explicitly in it, you never know.

Tanahashi would be a good choice but a good bit of his early career happened during the inoki-ism era (or at least its end) and NJPW doesnt seem to want to talk that much about this period
I'm.not remembering at the moment but is the 3rd dlc the one that the director said was a big surprise no one knows about yet? Or is the big surprise still supposedly unknown and seperate from the dlcs that have been announced? I don't think this is the big announcement , but i would not be surprised if the big announcement is cancelled and they just tell us " yeah, this is the big announcement we talked about a few months ago"

I think this kinda confirms to me that the 3rd DLC wrestlers will all be wrestling legends from NJPW and beyond.

If people doubted they could get a few ROH guys, then how would they get a bunch of old Legends for a DLC?

If people doubted they could get a few ROH guys, then how would they get a bunch of old Legends for a DLC? This is all speculation on my part, but I think it'd come down to money, really. The pro that NJPW has in their favor is that they work with ROH already, but Sinclair may have a hefty price to license their wrestlers' likenesses, and they may still have eyes towards making their own game and don't want them to get tied up with SC (which would probably be stupid to do in this current business climate). It's more likely that getting the licenses to legend wrestlers likenesses would be much cheaper, and they can negotiate individually. Of course, a lot of people are probably already under WWE Legends contracts, so I doubt we'd see guys like Andre or Vader in the game. It's more likely that past NJPW wrestlers, like Hashimoto, Kawada, Kobashi, and Inoki could be used as the legends.

Kobashi was never in NJPW.
I wouldn't be that hyped about playing through another fighting road as a preset wrestler anyways. We already have a heavyweight and junior heavyweight fighting road, do we need another one with slightly different text in it? It would be a like a recent WWE2k showcase mode thing.
I wouldn't mind them doing a pass over the SWA and making better characters, and maybe Olive Japan and etc... Saber doesn't have to be Vader. He can be inspired by him and not a carbon copy.

they'd need to directly contact most of those wrestler or their family individually and i'm not even sure they would be sold as a pack, and also most of those wrestler were already in past FPW games (even if it wasnt official) so we already have most of their moves and edits parts and tbh move & edit parts are what i care about the most but i'm not against something else if its like a new game mode

First, I can guarantee you that licensing Antonio Inoki for a modern New Japan product isn't gonna fucking happen. Second, Kawada and Kobashi were never New Japan guys. Third, most of the big name legends are going to want a shit ton of money, so unless Spike decided they wanted to lose their asses on this game like they did with KoC and KoC 2, I wouldn't expect any big name legends.

Birth of a Legends might be a Gedo campaign since people come from all over to hear his famous phrase "I'm on a different level, bro."..........And he's the ultimate Ace of New Japan.
I would love a legends DLC but really AJPW had most of them back then. So it's very confusing.
I had said before it could be a sort of "The Wrestler" movie style story for your edit from this first fighting road story. He's washed up and needs to come back. But they would make another fake promotion with fake versions of modern indy wrestlers so we get lots of their moves.

Wrestlers from the 90's NJPW or AJPW era would demand lot of contacting and fee's. And theme song fees. No way Misawa would get in, with the bad blood with NOAH and them retaining full rights to Misawa and Taue.
They could just get a few old assorted names with new names with no feds attached, that would reduce costs by not having to use other federation brands and belts. But only small amount of new DLC wrestlers.
Maybe a pack with the Lions Pro Wrestling guys from the movie my dad is a heel wrestler.
Or use Blazing Tornado wrestlers and give us lot of new stuff with it.

Here's my thoughts.
I really doubt it's going to be another promotion with that name. The current Fighting Road was called NJPW Heavyweight 2017 (or in game it's called something like NJPW Battle For The Heavyweight Title 2017), the other scenario is called NJPW Junior Heavyweight 2017 so the fact that this one is just called Birth Of The Legend seems like it will be an original scenario that expands on the main story. Your wrestler going from IWGP champion to being a legend.
As to licensing legendary Japanese wrestlers, maybe? I really doubt it would be a ton of them like KOC but if they licensed 10 or 15 freelance guys to sprinkle through the scenario, that wouldn't be that crazy. Since Fire Pro isn't a NJPW product, I doubt they have any say on who Spike can add to the game. That said, Spike probably wouldn't want to step on any toes by adding somebody that the NJPW office has bad blood with.
Whatever Spike does, I hope that they continue adding more match types to the game and not just edit parts/moves. It'd be really nice if we could get an official Battle Royale or 2 out of 3 falls or Iron Man or any of the other basic match types that modders added in.

Oh, you mean that thing that happened months before the New Japan deal was announced and likely doesn't mean that they licensed either of those guys?
