Doesn't look like the Fire Pro team directly, but someone on the Steam forums mentioned that a Japanese gamer friend has seen news that situation at Spike is "Considerably Serious". Could effect updates and bring delays if they have to shift things around to fill wholes the exodus left.

Didn't someone say that a few weeks ago about someone leaving ? So I'm guessing it could effect the game either in a good way or in a bad way now but got to wait and see ?

The two big ones are writer Kazutaka Kodaka and writer/director Kotaro Uchikoshi, who are behind Spike Chunsoft's two biggest VNs, Danganronpa and the Zero Escape Series, respectively (and also their OTHER really big VN, Steins;Gate). It looks like it was formally started last year by one of their main composers, but only publicly announced this past week. They're still working with Spike Chunsoft on at least one title, and Kodaka said he'd like to continue working on the Danganronpa series with Spike, but yeah, this is quite a bit of lost talent for them. I don't really think this has any bearing on Firepro, not directly at least. But losing 7 big names in writing, game directing, character design, music composition, etc., hurts. It doesn't look like it was a bitter parting of ways but still.
Given that they're also working on anime, I get the feeling this is a move brought on by how bearish the video games market has become in Japan.

Spike invested a bunch of money into their US expansion, Fire Pro and other titles. None of them seem to have panned out. Resurrecting Fire Pro didn't work, super niche titles like 428 at $50 didn't work, a sequel to Pixeljunk Monsters at $15 didn't work, DLC seemingly hasn't worked across the board and the talent that enabled them to peruse all those different avenues are on the way out.
There's probably some serious soul-searching going on about how they move forward.

Maybe Spike needs to realize that niche games shouldn't have price points that compete with AAA titles? A lot of indie games at $20 have far better presentation, optimization and basic quality of life features than the PS4 version of Fire Pro World. Not to mention their online play component actually works properly. It's the idea that they should charge the hardcore fan base for resurrecting their beloved titles, as opposed to developing a pricing model to attract new players that's killing them (428 at $50, DLC for a limited base game at $50 -$70 total, etc), imo.

Maybe Spike needs to realize that niche games shouldn't have price points that compete with AAA titles? For real. This is hands down my favorite game ever, and I can still say that the $50(+) price tag on PS4 is really rather outrageous. I picked up the PC version in EA for $15; I don't get how that price has more than tripled since then, the content certainly hasn't been tripled. I feel like that high price is turning away people who otherwise might have tried FPW on a whim the way I did, if it was still affordably priced.

Honestly, Fire Pro wouldn't have done any better at $20 as the PC release proved. They priced it at $13-20 on Steam and it only sold ~40k worldwide. The PS4 release was at $50 and we can assume that it also sold ~40k across both regions. Price didn't really effect it. The audience was always small with little room for growth. That's also why I mentioned Pixeljunk Monsters 2. They priced that one at $15, which was the perfect price point, and it sold nothing. DLC was also moderatly priced at $8. Dangaronpa V3 comes out at $60 and does well. Stein;Gate Zero comes out at $35 and does well. I think the big lesson they need to learn is that they can't force growth to a franchise. Pricing it low will only work if the game is great, it's in the same genre as their other games and there's a sequel planned where they can take advantage of volume. Pricing high only works when there's an existing audience that really wants the title.

Don't forget that it looked like dogshit when it came out. They didn't finish properly doing the rings and arenas, and they were stuck with eyesore full bright primary colors everywhere. They still have the ring editor with those in the new PS4 trailer. The arenas were missing. The improvements came months after release when all the buzz died off. The dojo arena still looks horrible with it's full bright white floor. And yeah, FPW is 79.99 here + 13% tax. It's a no go for me. I'm having too much fun with my PSVR helmet and the endless stream of cheap titles.

Remember when the game looked like this? It's still the image posted on the Steam store page, even after a year.

Misty, water-colored memories of back when both wrestlers would start spraying blood into the third row as soon as one punch was thrown...

I love some of the ideas, like the walls with the TVs, but the multiple rings, the floor mats, etc.

I'd like you guys to know that japan is also undergoing economical stagnation due to excessive regulation and inflation, so, they're pretty much drowning in debt and working themselves to death.
They'll probably deliver what they promised and Spike will most likely stay around for a while but money is coming fast and going away just fast down there. its not the 80's anymore.

looks like the september pc update isnt going to happen lol....
though this does lead credence to the communities fervor and patience in supporting the game cause it could mean total peril to the company and franchise.
