I've had the mode running in a basic way for several months. The mode isn't finished so changes could happen...but I have a pretty good idea of what it entails and it's general features/design, so when I "moan" about the mode, I'm doing it from a place of at least moderate understanding.
ok so can I ask is it as bad as some are saying? Sorry dont want to pester you I understand if you dint want to answer that as well all things considered
It's not bad, it's just not what some people are expecting.
At this point it IS the GBA version with some snazzy new graphics. It only tracks current champions for 3 titles (major, minor, tag - which you don't pick or design) for each promotion, it has absolutely no historical or stat tracking, only one show per month, etc. It's like the GM mode in the old SvR games with the macromanagement dialed way up and the micromanagement dialed way down. You can book cards with 5 (IIRC, it's been a bit since I fired it up...) matches, nothing else, once a month, collect a gate/sales, and then pay wrestlers/promotion fees. That's the long and short of it.

I mean, there's literally someone peeking directly at the current code, who clearly has the ability to look at the gba version and make comparisons answering your questions in this thread. yeah but wouldn't said person get in trouble for revealing the details and isn't it the the pc version was different to the ps4 ? The assembly is available for anyone to peek at, and afaik no one is under contract agreement not to provide details. So, there's nothing Spike could do if details were actually revealed.

The changes only deal with not locking included edits from being edited in the base game (sort of like what happens when they're champion, or part of an ongoing tournament currently), and no, the version I played uses a separate save to avoid such locking. It imports edits into a separate "Fire Promoter" save that functions independently of your base save...allowing you to edit the wrestlers in your base save to your hearts content.
I did NOT however see a way to edit wrestlers that are involved in the mode once they've been imported. This means that wrestlers are basically locked into that state for the duration of the Fire Promoter playthrough. This may change, as there's hints that they plan to open up CPU Logic editing for those wrestlers at the very least, but it is not implemented yet, and with time, money, and support appearing to dwindle due to lower-than-expected sales, who knows what they'll actually have time/resources to add.
You should be able to play as NJPW, but unless they make changes or exceptions for NJPW, it'll be the same mode as starting with any other promotion. 3 titles, one show per month, etc.

Thanks for the info

Just wondering could we run a g1 style event over a month in the mode You couldn't book leagues in the gba version, but you could run tournaments vs other promotions. You have to view all potential features under the lens of how it would affect balance for rest of the mode. Since contracts expire and edits can leave due to morale issues (iirc), having a mode where they are locked in for a predetermined period regardless of other factors wouldn't work. It's about getting better ratings than your opponents, not running a promotion. Think of it like a Monday night wars mode.

Love the MOTR mode in FFP. Will always say that it could have used more features than it did. But it was a gba game what could I expect? All I want is little things like being able to hire someone for a predetermined amount of time. I don't need Misawa in NJPW forever but maybe for three months
