forget that first part gomen gomen
I think it's easier to forgive the weirdness of his colors when there are not a finite number of edit wrestler slots and you can easily just load him up as a model wrestler to fix all of his costume colors (and give him a Junji Hirata costume... even though he's not Hirata, in spite of what everyone says). People think Hirata is Super Strong Machine? Good Lord. That's laughable. What's next, claiming the Midnight Rider is Dusty Rhodes or Charlie Brown is Jimmy Valiant? Preposterous.

I agree with the grey color needing to be darker but I also feel like if they get called out on it enough they’ll fix it.
where did we confirm Tanahashi having the Euro uppercut in two slots? I haven’t had time to watch all of that video yet but so far it just the women learning to play

The problem with the colors/move sets is that you'll be forced to deal with the inconsistencies in Story Mode. I don't think anyone here is actually going to use the base NJPW edits outside of that mode, so being able to make a copy and correct everything isn't really a great solution.
I guess that as long as those players clamoring for "official edits" don't complain, there's not a huge problem. They can enjoy using the SWA roster as well (someone has to use them).

It's probably too late to change any of that stuff now, the game releases in a few days. And as shitty as it is, bad edit move sets aren't really a show stopper for the release; I can see the dev team just ignoring oversights like that. They already ignore things like basic QoL updates.

Director's been saying in multiple interviews that we'll be able to edit the NJPW guys. So I imagine they made it where you can edit the default wrestlers without having to copy them. Which would also make it possible to use the existing edit system to add custom themes to defaults that are missing them. I also understand why they didn't go solid black on a guy like Super Strong Machine. Solid black looks terrible on outfits like that and exposes the seams of body parts.

I doubt it, based on how the current system works it's not difficult to determine how player editing will work when the DLC is released. The mission mode utilizes edits with a specific ID in order to load up the scenarios, so it's almost guaranteed that the NJPW edits will be similar and players will not in fact be able to modify those specific edits (maybe with an external tool). We'll be able to make models like any other official edit but that's it. So, that means you're forced to use whatever the devs provide as edits in the Story Mode. Director can say it as many times as he wants, all the evidence is already in the game. If they were providing a scenario creation tool with NJPW edits and an NJPW scenario as a sample, it wouldn't be too bad. But since these are the edits required in the only story mode available, it's an issue that they didn't do a proper final QA check of the all the wrestlers to be released.

There are guys with plain grayish trunks and boots (like the Young Lions and Minoru Suzuki) and others with more properly black trunks and boots. It doesn't seem like a stylistic choice. There's no rhyme or reason to it.

How would them adding the ability to edit the appearance/moves/ai effect the wrestler id? You wouldn't be making a copy. You'd be directly editing the wrestler data and overwriting the existing data. It's not like a workshop item where you get external updates. You gotta chill on the blackpills.

And unless they are going to add a check into the Edit Load Dialog to disable the "Delete" action for specific edit IDs (unlikely), then there's no reason to think it will be any different. Being able to edit the NJPW guys does not mean being able to modify the specific edits required in the story mode, they are not the same. I don't actually care about using the official NJPW edits at all, but it's possible to point out where the devs fucked up without it being some major betrayal of their faith in the community. This "Spike can do no wrong" outlook is strange, they aren't perfect.

You know better than the creators. Ok.

And who said anything about Spike being perfect? Editing default wrestlers is something you could do in the old AKI games for N64. Saying that they can modify their system to add some really basic functionality isn't me being a fanboy. Get a grip.

Actually the director has said you WONT be able to edit the default characters but you WILL be able to use their parts/voices/moves etc in Edit mode
As far as updates, yes the game has been “printed” but they have to ability to send software updates to both PS4 and Steam to correct issues

Feels like it could be a quick fix in a patch.
