I don't think this will be an issue for the PS4 players, however I could see it being the "nail in the coffin" of sorts for anyone who may be interested in the PC version but hasn't picked it up yet. It's not like the dev team makes the final business decisions, so can't be mad at them. The executives however... I do get it sort of, but this is the kind of game that actually needs the support so we can still get updates. They could always add the appearance peices in a patch so you could see and use workshop submissions, but I can see them not doing that. Need to but the DLC. They need the support anyway. There will be free updates this way, plus the future DLCs won't work without this one anyway, like the story modes coming later. I can only speak for myself, but NJPW + Fire Promoter will be good enough for me. Not really interested in buying additional scenarios that I won't be playing, support aside. And $15 (if that is the final price) for a few moves and edit parts is hardly worth it. Hell, I know a lot of people will be skipping Fire Promoter; just that it needs to be understood that Spike's priorities have changed and as fans there's nothing wrong with following suit and being more selective.

I'll buy whatever they put out. I could give them another couple hundred bucks and it would still work out to pennies per hour.
I'll have to second the lack of interest in ROH, however, if we're separating core roster from NJPW cross-overs. I wouldn't mind official versions of Silas Young or Dalton Castle but I'm not really chomping at the bit. I don't even have Punishment Martinez in my game and he seems like their go to guy. The WOH would probably appeal as much as the men. But I would love to see the cross-overs, specifically Bullet Club (Cody, Hangman Page, Bucks, Flip, and of course the Villain).

If the game does decent and ROH approaches then with a good deal they’d probably listen but I can’t image what a deal with a US company would offer other than advertising. Not like the ROH roster is loaded with outstanding talent at this point that don’t already work with New Japan you telling me if they don’t do a deal with roh and push young bucks and others that won’t generate interest ?? I would think considering there following they would get it a lot of attention if done properly If they do a deal with ROH you're going to get even more of the mutant moron "IT LOOKS LIKE A SNES GAME I'LL STICK WITH 2K" sentiment that everyone's seen since the NJ collab was announced. The Bucks likely won't sell many copies of the game to people who weren't already buying it for New Japan or, more specifically, Kenny.

More promotions theoretically mean more moves and more edit parts. I'll take them all. The ROH name doesn't carry a ton of weight, sure, but the ROH Bullet Club/Elite guys are some of the most popular non WWE American talent- that will mean something to the North American audience.

I have decided I should pitch my 2 cents on the DLC debate. Even though my version (EU PC) still has no price point, I'm still going to buy it.
You know why?
I've already been playing FPWW for 1000+ hours.
That's weeks of entertainment.
And I bought this when it was still Early Access. ie hella cheap.
They deserve extra if they can entertain me this long with just edits and goofing off with mods.

Every time Denker posts a new youtube vid promoting the game the comment section is full of the typical little kid enmity we've experienced through each installment. In this regard I am glad it's a niche game far from a player base that would ruin it. It's the same reason I won't play with randoms in 2k games. Oh yeah, another new one I heard is that only hipsters are interested in this game. Because I'm sure a lot of hipsters follow NJPW.

To be honest, if I'm gonna throw a ton of money towards something, I'm glad it's Fire Pro. I get why people complain about the price, things are tight for 98% of the country right now, but man, we gotta support the things we love in live, y'all.
And I feel like the mystery promotion has to be ROH, and if it isn't, it's got to be an indy superstar pack. I feel like that pack is going to be for the international folks, mostly the US and Mexico. I personally would love to see a Lucha Underground pack, with official releases of the Lucha Bros, Matanza, Mil Muertes, Cuerno, and a bunch more. It could cover a lot of indy workers too.

I just think this could turn into a cult game with continuous dlc. Plus I also think they created this game for the love of it and wrestling

I thought the response to the trailer that was posted on the Playstation YouTube was heartening. The majority of people commenting were happy to see an alternative to 2K and thought it looked like fun. Same with the response Director received at CEO. I thought new players would be instantly turned off but it seems like the people that tried it, enjoyed it. I don't think this will be an issue for the PS4 players, however I could see it being the "nail in the coffin" of sorts for anyone who may be interested in the PC version but hasn't picked it up yet. The PC version sold ~40k while priced at $13-$20. The dream of it finding a large untapped audience on that platform is over. There's a bunch of painful answers coming soon for us but at least they're determined to bring the PC version up to par with the PS4 version. A lesser dev would've just cut their losses and abandoned us.

Well, I am someone who has never played FPW. I have only played 2k but did not enjoy it last year as much. I started watching NJPW this year and got hooked. I would not get this game if it wasn’t for the dlc with official edits from NJPW. I will buy it and give it a chance and if I like it I will purchase the dlc. I am very curious to know who will be the others in the jr dlc. I don’t have the time to learn every move so I hope the gameplay is not super complicated. 2k is very user friendly with gameplay mechanics.

I don’t have the time to learn every move so I hope the gameplay is not super complicated. 2k is very user friendly with gameplay mechanics. If you find 2K very user friendly, you should have no problem in Fire Pro. It's pretty simple. The only real catch is learning the grapple timing and distance for strikes. The really fun part (at least for me) is how there's no bars visible. It's all trial and error which helps the match unfold like a real wrestling match with give and take. It's not like No Mercy where I can relentlessly squash the AI or Smackdown where I'm cheesing to fill my special bar. Tutorial mode isn't fun in the slightest but it will teach you all the game mechanics. And once you learn one Fire Pro, you can basically play any Fire Pro in the series going back to SNES.
edit: Also you can view your wrestler's moveset in the pause menu if you're dying to do a specific move.

Ah, there's the standing Pele Kick in KUSHIDA's moveset.
Other than that, I don't see any new moves on the page... though I know a few are there. Taguchi has the Dodon and Dodonce's Throne, and KUSHIDA has the Back to the Future, for sure.

I think it's funny that we're talking about 2K's accuracy with their character models, while people are currently blowing a gasket over on the 2K Forum because Daniel Bryan's model wasn't updated at all for the upcoming game lol

I know a lot of developers milk the DLC for extra cash, but Fire Pro needs the buys so it can exist and update still. This is how I look at it. Whatever promotion, it's moves and designs added. I'm no ROH fan but the moves they would add would be great and would work for more wrestlers that you would want and use. Same with the NJPW one here.
