The core of what you're actually saying is that only large damage grapple moves are supposed to be done in large damage. Your approach is clearly that the build in the match comes from the pre-programmed progression from small damage moves to large moves, and after that the wrestlers should just do large moves until one of them gets a win. That's why you said that it's "artificial," to do otherwise, and earlier, that essentially you don't think long matches can be done well. You... did not answer my original question, which is "Do you put random pins in ND?" And also assumed incorrectly that I was saying "Only do large moves in large damage." I'm saying "it's not necessary to use EVERY grapple move in your moveset at large for the sake of padding out a match." Moves like bodyslams are absolutely important as a transition to ground moves or (though Flair rarely ever hit them) a top rope move to a downed opponent. Moves like weak strikes help set the down timer for both wrestlers and can create an instance where both wrestlers sell a major move. But moreover, what I am saying is that you want a lot of these moves to be followed with a pin or submission, even extremely late in the match, and that you've said you don't need priorities to do this. Which has me worried not that you're telling Flair to do a bodyslam super late, but that you're going and putting percentage points in normal-ass pins while the opponent is down in Near Death. Which at that stage of the match, means that ANYTHING can lead to a pin, and thus ANYTHING can cause a three-count fall. That's my issue with what you've said, and admittedly I could be entirely wrong about you doing this... But I was expecting you to give me a yes or no answer on this, not to tell me something else unrelated like "yes they even used light grapples to down opponents late in the match."

Geez Louise, you've really taken this thread as an opportunity to turn heel, cycklops.

Friendly reminder that just because things were done a certain way in Returns doesn't mean they should be, or even translate well, into World.
Putting high pin percentages in Near Death was just a work around for the priority slot limitations in Returns. Now that we have twelve slots, paired with the logical sequences you can setup, there's no reason to rely on RNG pins to get multiple types of finishes. You can easily get an edit to finish in multiple ways without risking bad finishes like a pin after a repositioning headlock.

Let me take this opportunity to remind some of you that high flying moves from the turnbuckle happen much more frequently in World, so if you’re just flat out porting your logic from Returns it can turn into a hell of a lot of top rope move spam. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE! XD

Funny you mention that, because that wasn't even a thing in Returns among the default cast! A lot of default wrestlers will ONLY pin off of their finishers and specialties/their three priorities. The last time they did this with any regularity was Fire Pro Z, because they had no choice - priorities still weren't a thing.

Posting this again because I am pretty sure every one ignored it. Honestly if you are new to the game please read this, it will save you a lot of aggravation. All these point totals really don't mean anything. In the 20 or so years of this series I have never seen so much point total talk in my life. www.caws.ws/firepro/files/fpr_complete_guide.pdfThere are plenty other great guides out there too but this one needs to be read first.

I've read that a bunch actually. I'm not new to the game, I first played FPR 12 years ago on a modded PS2 after I bought an import copy from Japan. Used all the translation guides and everything lol. Then played countless hours on PS3 when it was released there. I just wanted tips for longer matches and wanted to bump defensive parameters up to do that. I think in a super roundabout way I did learn that bumping some edits up to be closer to my main event guys is a bad idea when I really wasn't sure of that at first, but overall I did get some good tips from everyone who posted in a constructive way. Overall, despite the arguing, I learned a lot and am changing the way I make my edits because of it.

I have never seen so much point total talk in my life. I feel people are heavily misconstruing the Edit Point value talk at this point, and it equally doesnt help that this thread obviously lacks the Discord chat from when DNMT popped in there and spoke directly with a few of us, and basically ignoring his and my last few posts that we're not shaming point totals and that he has been thankful for the info shared. It's fine if you have a high point edit, knock yourself out.* The only thing we've spoken about higher/250points is that it's usually a loaded Edit that may not play well with others. It was asked on how to keep other Edits playing well with Spike's renditions of Kenny and Okada, to which we noted they are very fat because they're story mode bosses, and you could easily bring them down a tad without then having to buff other edits that already play nicely together. That 100% answered the discussion, though it took a bit of clarifying, I do admit. Any other instance of point-shaming has basically been apart of the horrendously off-topic argument over Cycklop's Steamboat edit, which started with the mere suggestion of '237 points for Steamboat is kind of insane' [when compared to Spike's point basis] and basically snowballed off from there due to various banter between people. *The only times we DO care, is in community events, and FPWA/FPCPP because that is based a bit more around Spike's values, wherein over 200 tends to only be mega main-eventers and legends (and usually means they're riding with little in the way of weaknesses). So can we get off this shitty kick?

This literally makes no sense.
Again, a goofy meme that makes no sense and is actually quite hypocritical to the way that you've responded to posts in this thread. People ask you things regarding your logical reasons for doing certain things and you completely ignore them to push your own agenda as to why you make bad logic decisions like having random pins in ND.
Where to start? It seems that you're still running with the (incorrect) notion that -I- was the one who used the word newcomer and it's changing your tone in responses towards me. I've played Fire Pro for 20 years across at least 8 different consoles and have been a known member of the community since FPD, so take the 'newcomer' and stick it up your ass. Severla didn't even use 'newcomer' as an insult but I do find it fucking hilarious that you got so triggered by that word that it makes you act like a man-child in the entire following page. But for fun since we're just throwing around words for the sake of being childish and petty, I'll do the same, dipstick.
No, believe me, I've unfortunately read every word that you've typed in this thread, and it's been mostly nonsense with bad logical reasoning. It actually seems like the other way around where you're half reading what people say and then responding with a tangent that is irrelevant and doesn't answer the questions being asked to you. Not good.
I didn't misunderstand the guide, nor did Severla who brought up the number of Reborns in the first place. The guide was wrong, dipstick. We sorted the special skill column alphabetically and saw Choshu has the same special skill that Inoki has, which is Fighting Spirit/Spirit. It's a bad translation. But that may be difficult to understand with your Steamboat green tinted glasses.
Lol, k.

Just let it go, Dak. Apparently he thinks I called him a newcomer (hint: I didnt, at all) and it ruffled feathers.

You... did not answer my original question, which is "Do you put random pins in ND?" I did answer that. By explaining that having general logic there means you DON'T have to use a slot on every move. If SOMETIMES he attacks the knee, sometimes goes straight for the figure-four and other times tries for a pin whenever the opponent is down in critical damage, you can have that set and don't need to link a move in every case. Sometimes he uses simple moves to put the opponent down, INCLUDING a weak damage leg trip. Please watch Flair's matches. It's not for the sake of "padding out a match." It accurately represents the way Flair and Steamboat wrestled long matches, and it still allows a logical and interesting progression. I gave you a specific example to watch. I can tell that you haven't actually been reading what I've said because I said repeatedly what Flair does in Near Death by my settings. I'm glad I could clarify my answer. Now, why don't you respond to... - The point about the difference between Art Jimmerson and Bam Bam Bigelow in terms of MMA ratings? - My original point about Big Show being put into a sumo match as well, which you somehow responded to by saying sumo is not MMA? - The point that point totals don't mean anything if the set points don't effect the match and they're on your own edits that you aren't sharing with others, so you might as well set them to be useful in a hypothetical situation? - The video example I gave you showing that the representation I'm giving you is EXACTLY how Flair and Steamboat wrestled each other, including late in matches? - Why you said that setting a variety of moves in large damage was "artificial" but yet are now claiming that you're not assuming that only large damage moves should happen in large damage? Which among other things, I responded to by pointing out that EVERYTHING we do is "artificial" by that measure, since we use heads that aren't mean for a wrestler solely because they make it look like the wrestler we want?
You made an issue out of what you believed was me not replying to something you said, so surely you will respond to those.

Okada is the ONLY WRESTLER EVER IN FIPRO HISTORY WITH REBORN. No, really, he is.) No, really, he's not. You don't know what you're talking about and you should delete this.
