Big Bama Ray was taking questions from fans on his twitter. Someone sent a link to a podcast and asked Ray if he's gonna be the one to step up to Rampage Hunter's challenge. Ray listened to the podcast and immediately tried to get in touch with Jeff Gorham, but the owner wasn't able to be reached. Ray decided to use his new found social media skills and take matters into his own hands. It got the owner's attention.

After a prolonged break, Warrior Pro Wrestling is back! This Friday the promotion hosts its first show of 2020, and its set to be the biggest Warrior Grounds to date. For the first time in Warrior Grounds history, the Tag Team Championship will be on the line, plus not one- but two- number one contenders will be determined. All of this plus an appearance from John Logan, and Doc Wyatt speaks for the first time since he lost the World Title. Not to mention this will also act as the kickoff of Warrior Pro’s brand new venue- Gorilla Hall. Tune in THIS FRIDAY for all the matches, promos, and angles as we go full speed into the new year and set up for the first PPV on January 30th- NEW DAWN.
Match Previews: Markus Winter vs Roy CarterMarkus Winter will take his three-fight win streak, the longest active one in the company, to the test against veteran Roy Carter. The winner will be well positioned at a future Intercontinental Title shot and very well could be in line to face the winner coming out of New Dawn. #1 Contender for the Warrior Pro IC Title: Maverick Reed vs Jimmy HawkinsJimmy Hawkins would like nothing better than to get another shot at Robino and that Warrior Pro belt around his waste, but first he’ll have to get past Maverick Reed. The oldest Reed brother had an impressive end to 2019 in singles action with the hope that an upset win here could catapult himself into the next tier and perhaps, championship gold in 2020. #1 Contender for the PCP Title: Rampage Hunter vs Big Bama RayRampage Hunter makes his triumphant return to Warrior Pro after an extended stay in the southwest fighting in PCP and Tiger Stripe Pro. The hope was he would be returning with two belts, but a failed attempt at capturing PCP’s top prize fell short. He’ll have another shot with a win over, ironically, not only the man he beat to get his first PCP shot, but the man he beat to win the Tiger Stripe Southeastern Memorial States Tournament- Big Bama Ray. Can the big man from Alabama finally solve the Rampage puzzle? Or will Rampage continue the streak and get the rematch with Darryl Jenkins he so desperately wants? Warrior Pro Tag Team Championship: Los Terribles vs McDaniel & BaronLobo Muerte makes his first appearance since ending Doc Wyatt’s historic run as World Champ- and he does so with an eye at making history of his own. Teaming with his cousin Pantero Negro Jr, Los Terribles take on the reigning Tag Team Champions for a chance for Lobo to be the first duel champion in Warrior Pro history. It would also create an interesting situation where all Warrior Pro Champions would be held by outside talent- something the prideful Vic Baron and Lefty McDaniel would no doubt want to avoid given their close family ties to company management. The stage is set for this to be the biggest main event in Warrior Ground history, and a hellova kickoff to Gorilla Hall and 2020. Tune in Friday for a full recap of the show!

Tonight was historic, as Warrior Grounds kicked off 2020 with a fantastic show that doubled as the grand opening of Gorilla Hall- the promotion’s new home. Besides a slew of high-quality matches, there were several big announcements and angles that played out over the course of the night. Scroll down for full matches, recaps and all the promo’s and angles this show had to offer… The show opens with “Lanky” Lefty McDaniel making his way to the ring, microphone in hand…Lefty drops the mic and exits the ring as the crowd chants Senator’s name-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Markus Winter vs Roy CarterRecap: Maybe Winter’s most impressive win to date. Markus was able to stuff Carter’s MMA time after time and keep dictating the pace, eventually hitting the Winter is Coming that knocked Roy out clean in the middle of the ring for his fourth straight win.
Winner: Markus Winter Rating: **** After the match Winter rolls out of the ring and grabs a mic… Slowly making his way to the back as Byron Worthy checks on Roy Carter, Winters stops and walks back to the ring…
Winter drops the mic and exits as medics and Worthy help Roy Carter to the back -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Bay Ballerz make their way to the ring, led by iWe legend Super Bad Ass Sweet Daddy Jones…-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- #1 Contender for the Warrior Pro IC Title: Maverick Reed vs Jimmy HawkinsRecap: A fast paced match that had a ton of back and forth, with Hawkins getting the upper hand early. Maverick seemed to be slowly mounting a comeback and may have in fact pulled it off, but a top rope counter from Hawkins caught Maverick into a rollup for the pin, setting up a rematch with Robino for the IC title in two weeks.
Winner: Jimmy Hawkins Rating: **** ¬-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Heading out to the ring with Red Masterson in toe is Doc Wyatt. He stands in the middle of the ring and takes in the boos before requesting a microphone…Brick Casey, who has not been seen in Warrior Pro since Warriorversary in July, makes his way to the ring to a thunderous ovation. He gets into the ring and grabs the mic from a stunned DocRed and Brick go nose to nose before Brick slowly backs away and exits the ring. While both Doc and Red are focused on Brick someone runs down from the crowd and jumps the rail, entering the ring…Lil Lariato stands over Doc taunting before high tailing out as Red comes to make the save. Lariato celebrates in the crowd as a stunned Doc is checked on by Red…-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- #1 Contender for the PCP Title: Rampage Hunter vs Big Bama RayRecap: An early candidate for MotY and an instant classic. It also served as an excellent follow up to their first match in Tiger Stripe Pro, and both men absolutely left it all in the ring. Big Bama Ray seemed to have the match won if not for an untimely ref bump that negated the pin fall. Eventually this match ended like the last one, with a duo of spears and Rampage’s hand being raised.
Winner: Rampage Hunter Rating: ***** -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Warrior Pro Tag Team Championship: Los Terribles vs McDaniel & Baron (c)Recap: Both teams jawed back and forth to start this one, and the pace stayed hot throughout the match. Pantero came close to ending the match on several occasions but each time the champs were there to make the save. In the end it was a Left Handed Scissors to Pantero Negro Jr that would allow the champions to retain.
Winner: McDaniel & Baron Rating: **** After the match both teams continue to have words… Lefty and Pantero continue shouting back and forth, with Lefty holding up the number two, potentially alluding to his match last year where he also pinned the Lucha POWER number one contender. Meanwhile Vic Baron leaves the ring, grabs the World Title and brings it back- shoving it in Lobo’s chest and pointing at it. The two have a staredown with Lobo raising the title above his head… -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To close out the show, the PA announcer introduces John Logan, who has been out with an injury since late this summer. Logan comes out to a raucous ovation, circling the ring and interacting with fans. Finally, he gets into the ring, microphone in hand…
Suddenly the lights go out…
Standing over Logan’s unconscious body is none other than Machine Gun Mayhem, who is now holding the microphone…

Post by Senator Phillips on Jan 17, 2020 18:32:57 GMT
A message from Senator Steve Phillips: Senator Steve Phillips: I accept your gracious offer, Mr. McDaniel, and am honored to do so. It has been a pleasure to have done business with such a storied institution as Warrior Pro is, and to compete in one of my final matches against an individual of your integrity and quality is a privilege. Even as my career winds down, it seems that this may well be the very best year I have had in a decade, with such joyous challenges. I would be remiss, however, if I did not state that I had an additional purpose in sending this message. As such, I cede the remainder of my time to one of very best of the Office, the TIPWF Lone Star Champion, a man I have the utmost respect for, Lil' Lariato.
Lil' Lariato: That's right, Mr. Senator Man, A duo promo was the ultimate plan, What's up, Doc, Your talk was just a crock, You opened up your mouth, but you ain't got any cred, I was the matador, and your vision just went red, So one more time, let's settle this thing, Third time's the charm, even if you ain't got no bling, Meet me somewhere, meet me at Lariats, Number Ten Let's see for the last time, who can get the career defining win.

From the desk of Virgil Wyatt…

After an oddly quite week, news blew up this weekend around Warrior Pro Wrestling. Here are all the details.
New Dawn will be broadcast LIVE THIS THURSDAY AT 5pm on Twitch. Tank McDaniel will be hosting a press conference for the show tomorrow.
New Dawn does in fact have a card despite not being officially announced. Delays have centered around the main event- specifically who will face Warrior Pro Champion Lobo Muerte. As of this writing that opponent is still scheduled to be Vic Baron- who issued the challenge at Warrior Grounds #15 and who’s last loss was to Lobo back in June of last year. The complication however sits with Doc Wyatt, the former champion, and his insistence on a rematch. Sources say Doc still does not have medical clearance from his match against Lance Marshall (the attack from Lil Lariato at WG 15 no doubt didn’t help). Virgil Wyatt has been privately pushing to sue both Phoenix Rising (for what sources say are “poor work conditions”) and Senator Phillips- for Lariato’s attack on Doc as ways to bring outside pressure on Tank to delay a championship match till Doc is physically ready for a rematch. Tank is expected to give a statement regarding the matter at tomorrow’s press conference.
The rest of the card is largely set. Brick Casey will face Red Masterson after their staredown at Warrior Grounds. Jimmy Hawkins earned a shot at the reigning IC champion, Robino. Senator Phillips accepted Lefty McDaniel’s challenge. It is also heavily rumored that the Lucha POWER championship will be defended at the show, with Dungeon Dominguez facing Pantero Negro Jr.
One potential matchup still without clarity relates to the final segment of Warrior Grounds #15, where Machine Gun Mayhem attacked John Logan. Logan, who attended a B.A.S.E. show on Saturday spoke with reporters about the incident… Warrior Pro office responded to the comment late Sunday simply stating, “Tank will address it at the press conference.”
And finally, we’ve heard nothing from Lil Lariato’s camp regarding Virgil Wyatt’s demands regarding the trilogy match with his son, though sources say he plans to provide backup at ringside for Brick during his match with Red Masterson.

Tank McDaniel is seated in the Conference Room of Gorilla Hall, flanked by Warrior Pro World Heavyweight Champion Lobo Muerte and rumored challenger, Vic Baron.Tank: Good afternoon everyone, thank you for attending the official New Dawn press conference. New Dawn will take place tomorrow at Moffett Field Arena and be broadcast live at 5pm PST on Twitch. This is our official card: Red Masterson (w/Doc Wyatt) vs Brick Casey (w/ Lil Lariato) Intercontinental Title: Jimmy Hawkins vs Robino (c) Lucha POWER World Title: Pantero Negro Jr. vs Dungeon Dominguez (c) Senator Retirement Tour: Senator Steve Phillips vs Lanky Lefty McDaniel Unsanctioned Street Fight: John Logan vs Machine Gun Mayhem Warrior Pro World Heavyweight Title: Lobo Muerte (c) vs Vic BaronI know there are some questions related to these matches, so let me see if I can address them to kick things off. John and I have been in negotiations all weekend, and I’ve decided to book the match with Machine Gun. It will be unsanctioned- and both men have signed away all liability. But this is still happening under my banner, and so I will be personally officiating the match. As for our main event- the two gentlemen on either side of me have always been the match we were going to make. Doc Wyatt is still not cleared. I can’t “non-sanction” a title fight. Virgil and Doc can sue whoever they want, but they’re also negotiating a Lone Star Championship fight with Texas Independent, so I doubt suing the promoter is a smart move. But I’ll leave that for the Senator to deal with. Questions? Reporter: Tank, what went into the decision to make Vic Baron the top contender? Tank: I’ll let Vic state his own case, but the guy was the obvious choice. He’s undefeated since losing to Lobo back in May of last year. He’s held the Tag Titles since July with two different partners. I think those qualifications are more than enough. Vic? Vic: Honestly? It’s a bit of a crock that I’m just now gettin my shot. I take a lot of pride bein in this company, representin the Baron’s, representin Tank. But month after month I keep seein other guys gettin what should have been my shot. Not anymore. Now I have a chance at history. The first duel champion this company has seen. Reporter: But it’s a pretty tall task, taking on the guy that beat Doc Wyatt. The guy that also beat you. (Lobo chuckles)Vic: ( glaring at Lobo) I relish the opportunity to prove to the world that I’m the best technical wrestler alive. Doc Wyatt gets all the press because he runs his mouth. But me? I do what I do in the ring, night after night. Who won the March Madness Tournament last year? I did. Who beat Doc’s lackeys for the tag team belts? I did. Who’s gonna whip the guy that beat Doc Wyatt for the belt? I am. You all are looking at the next World Champion Lobo: Nononono. Vic Baron will not beat Lobo Muerte. No this is not true. Hehe Vic Baron es promedio. This means average muchacho. I am disappointed in Senor Tank, tsk tsk. Why am I not fighting someone exciting? Like Rampage Hunter! Maybe after I beat Vic Baron, Senor Tank will make an interesting match for the people. Reporter: You seem to carry a lot of confidence Lobo, are you worried your looking past this match? Lobo: Que? No, I am not looking past anybody. I am the champion. Vic Baron will see. This is why I beat him last time- he is no good. He should stick to tags I think. They treat him better. Some people are just not cut for singles. Lobo Muerte on the other hand is meant to do big things this year. In Warrior Pro, In Lucha POWER- maybe in other places too. Everyone will know Lobo Muerte. This week I will prove it to you all. And you too Vic Baron. Vic: He’s right about one thing. This will get proven in the ring. I can’t wait for Thursday, I’d love to see how he feels about my singles career with a crossface in his mouth, forcing him to pass out. Both fighters get up and face off for a photo opp before quietly exchanging words and walking to separate exits…

It's FIGHT NIGHT, and Warrior Pro Wrestling’s first show of 2020 is going to be a great one. Three titles are on the line, plus a brutal unsanctioned match with two of the promotion’s biggest stars. And on top of all that, Senator Phillips Retirement Tour stops by San Jose for his first and last appearance in Warrior Pro. Tune in tonight at 5pm PST for all the action, LIVE ON TWITCH.Match Previews: Red Masterson (w/Doc Wyatt) vs Brick Casey (w/ Lil Lariato)This opener might break the ring before the night even begins. Brick makes his long-awaited comeback after shoulder surgery, and he’s picking up right where he left off, charging head first into the Jackson Hole Outlaws. He faces the man that replaced him in the group, the dangerous Texan, Red Masterson. Masterson is rumored to still be bothered by a rib injury he suffered at the hands of Cowboy Johnston, and there is added intrigue by both Doc Wyatt and Lil Lariato scheduled to act as cornermen for the match. Intercontinental Title: Jimmy Hawkins vs Robino (c)A rematch from the finals of the Gorilla Tournament, that saw Robino win the IC belt in dramatic fashion. Jimmy Hawkins has been on a tear since returning from AAW- can he avenge his only loss since his return, and reclaim the IC belt for Warrior Pro? Or will the bouncy Bostonian continue his impressive run and continue undefeated through iWe’s rival promotion? Lucha POWER World Title: Pantero Negro Jr. vs Dungeon Dominguez (c)Lucha POWER has been quiet since breaking from La Guerra in October, but this rivalry has been simmering since last summer. Dungeon has been an unstoppable force for the promotion, but after settling his feud with Nightmare Clown, Pantero Negro has had his sights fully set on the championship gold. This will be a perfect showcase for next month’s “Lucha Fantastico,” and will likely set the direction for the promotion in the coming year. Senator Retirement Tour: Senator Steve Phillips vs Lanky Lefty McDanielSenator Phillips Retirement Tour has been one classic match after another, as the Hall of Famer has turned back the clock in this final run. Tonight, he’ll answer Lefty McDaniel’s challenge in his sole appearance in Warrior Pro in what fans hope is a match to be remembered. John Logan vs Machine Gun Mayhem (unsanctioned street fight)This… escalated quickly. Joh Logan, out for months with a knee injury, was set to address fans at the first Warrior Grounds of the new year, except he never got the chance. Instead he was brutally attacked by Machine Gun Mayhem- out to make a statement of his own. The result is an unsanctioned street fight that will be officiated by Tank McDaniel. This just in: An added stipulation insisted by MGM: The ring will be covered by light tubes for the match. Logan has agreed…Warrior Pro World Heavyweight Title: Lobo Muerte (c) vs Vic BaronThe main event will, for the first time, not feature Doc Wyatt or John Logan. Instead it will feature Lobo Muerte, an unlikely underdog who dethroned the reigning champion, and Vic Baron- the reigning Tag Team champion who has been chasing a shot at the top prize for over a year. Can Lobo continue his unlikely run? Can Vic live up to the Baron family name and become a third-generation champion? All of these questions get answered TONIGHT at NEW DAWN.

Warrior Pro kicked off the new year with a super fun show. If you missed it, you can check it out with the links below. We had a minor hiccup in the first match so its in two parts. As always, I'm super grateful for the folks that both contributed edits, and showed up to cheer on these little 2D men. A full write-up with some post match interviews/promos should be up sometime tomorrow Part One:

New Dawn 2020 is complete, and it was a proper kickoff to the new year. Three titles were on the line, the Senatorial Retirement Tour stopped by, and two men beat the holy hell out of each other. Scroll down for all the matches and recaps. We also have highlights from a post show press conference that went seriously sideways... Red Masterson (w/Doc Wyatt) vs Brick Casey (w/ Lil Lariato)Recap: A brutal slugfest to open the show, as both Brick and Red beat the tar out of each other. The match went back and forth with both Doc Wyatt and Lil Lariato getting involved in the action. It seemed Masterson would overcome his still injured ribs before Brick cut him down with a series of monster chops followed by a sit down splash for the pin.
Winner: Brick Casey Rating: ****
After the match both Brick and Lariato could be seen yelling at Doc Wyatt as Doc mocked both of them. Red was in obvious pain, holding his taped ribs. Intercontinental Title: Jimmy Hawkins vs Robino (c)Recap: A quick and fast paced match that saw the champion push the action and overwhelm the young challenger. Hawkins had brief moments where it seemed like he might make the comeback, but it never got any steam and the rematch ended the way their first match did, with Robino pinning Hawkins in the middle of the ring.
Winner: Robino Rating: *** Lucha POWER World Title: Pantero Negro Jr. vs Dungeon Dominguez (c)Recap: Pantero came out guns blazing in this match, hitting the big man with everything he had…and it just didn’t matter. Dungeon just kept on coming, kicking out of two Destino’s like they were nothing and cutting off Pantero’s offense every time he started to build some momentum. In the end, Dungeon sunk a cross arm camel clutch in deeeep and Pantero was forced to tap, allowing Dungeon to retain.
Winner: Dungeon Dominguez Rating: *** Senator Retirement Tour: Senator Steve Phillips vs Lanky Lefty McDanielRecap: The first and probably last meeting between these two was a fascinating contrast of styles. Lefty kept moving, striking quickly and keeping the action moving, while Senator stayed in the pocket and delivered crushing blow after crushing blow- including a series of brutal knees that busted Lefty wide open. Those knees left the younger McDaniel wobbly, but a Left Handed Scissors out of nowhere dropped Senator like a rock, ending the match.
Winner: “Lanky” Lefty McDaniel Rating: ****
After the match, Lefty helped up the legend and raised Senator’s hand as the crowd chanted his name. Both men walked to the back together, stopping to pose with fans. John Logan vs Machine Gun Mayhem (unsanctioned street fight)Recap: A brutal brutal match. Logan came out on the war path, smashing every single light tube that laid in the ring over Machine Gun’s head, but dripping with blood the King of Mayhem seemed to only get stronger. Two Logan Run DDT’s didn’t seem to phase him either, and after a pop up sitting powerbomb barely got a two count MGM seemed to start laughing. He tossed Logan outside and nailed a diving jump kick from the top rope to the floor, and the brawl continued outside. Logan nailed MGM with 3 more light tubes and sunk an anaconda vice in before Tank threw in the towel when it appeared MGM had passed out.
Winner: John Logan Rating:*****
After the match Logan put MGM back into the Vice, screaming out as security had to be called by Tank to get Logan off of the unconscious MGM… Warrior Pro World Heavyweight Title: Lobo Muerte (c) vs Vic BaronRecap: This match mirrored their first match back at G2 in a lot of ways. Lobo pushed the offense for most of the match, hitting numerous near falls as Vic seemed to be content countering and biding his time. In the end, in a role reversal from their first match, as Lobo went for a finish Vic countered into a backslide that got him the three count.
Winner: “The Technician” Vic Baron Rating: **** After the show, several wrestlers came into the press room to give interviews, but the event became something of a disaster- here are some of the highlights: Vic BaronAn emotional Vic Baron came to the press podium with his dad Austin and tag team partner Lefty McDaniel. He hugged both men before answering a smattering of “how does it feel” questions.Doc Wyatt and Red MastersonDoc and Red sat for questions after Red’s match. Red sat in obvious discomfort over his still tender ribs.Lobo Muerte and Pantero Negro JrBoth men sat together ready to answer questions on their respective losses, but reporters never got a chance to ask anything. The two cousins began arguing in Spanish and words turned to fists as the two began going at it and also needed to be separated… John LoganThis… was never an actual interview. Logan was absent for his interview slot, and was found in the locker room still brawling with Machine Gun, both men covered in blood. This third incident shut down the press room for good as authorities were called in. Sources say no one was charged, but Tank released a statement to the press communicating there would be repercussions. Rampage HunterRampage, who was not on the show but present backstage was interviewed regarding his upcoming PCP championship match, and he turned the conversation in a different direction…

Some major fallout from the New Dawn PPV from last week, as well as some other news and notes from around the wrestling world… Following the circus of a post-show press conference, Warrior Pro Wrestling issues a scorching press release: The suspensions to Lariato and Lobo/Pantero seem symbolic in nature given that none of the three had any future commitments with the company, but the fines and suspensions to three of the top stars speaks volumes. As of this writing none of the impacted wrestlers could be reached for official comment, though sources say the Wyatt camp plan to appeal the fine.-----------------------------------------------------------------
El Macho and Lefty McDaniel announced a joint press conference set for next week, where the expectation is that a date for Lucha Fantastico, the joint promotion super show, will be announced. The show is currently rumored to be held in late February, and will be co-headlined by both the Lucha POWER and Warrior Pro championship matches. -----------------------------------------------------------------
It was recently announced that Vic Baron’s first match after winning the Warrior Pro Title would be in TIPWF, tagging with his father Austin for the first time since the elder Baron suffered a major concussion that almost led to his retirement. Austin was asked about the match and cut a promo that appeared on WPW.com:
Shortly after the match was announced, Doc took to social media to give his own take on the matter:

So, I've been trying to put this off but not sure I have any other choice at this point.
Warrior Pro/Lucha POWER will be taking a short recess. How short? Not sure exactly. Maybe we'll be back up and running next week, maybe a little longer. I have a few too many irl commitments to put the correct amount of focus into this, and I can't bring myself to half ass things either. So I'm just going to take a little break and figure out how to retool what I've been doing to fit my current schedule. This isnt a hiatus- I don't plan on being quiet for very long- but more of a callout that I'm taking time to make sure I can keep doing what has become a really fun little hobby.
I'm also not disappearing. So:
-Any outside bookings/angles will still be honored and executed on. If we've been working on angles I intend to see those through.
- Lucha Fantastico is still happening, likely in early/mid March, with a few Warrior Pro house shows sprinkled in as well. When I'm back up and running there will be dates announced for all of that.
Big thanks to everyone that still follows/participates. Hopefully I'm back before you noticed I left...
