Night Two of the Golden Gate Tournament proved more of the same, a lot of faced paced hard hitting action. It was a night of upsets and brutal one sided affairs- but both blocks head into night three with a little more clarity in the standings, and urgency will need to set in with the bottom half or risk falling out of contention. Scroll down for full matches, recaps and post show interviews, as well as the current standings after last nights card. CJ Fresh (SHTCWA) vs G.P. Christopher (Lightning Pro)Recap: For the second night in a row, arguably the best match may have very well been the opener. These two long standing rivals went at each other from the opening bell- exchanging strikes early before working to finish each other off late. The finish would see CJ walk into a Destiny driver, putting the SHTCWA star in a tough 0-2 hole.
Winner: G.P. Christopher Rating: **** Red Masterson vs Kenta Aoki (Dragon Fire Japan)Recap: Arguably the two most impressive performers from Night One picked up right where they left off in this match. Both came out guns blazing, and if Aoki thought he would have an advantage keeping the pace up, Red smashed that strategy early, sticking with Aoki shot for shot. It seemed like the Dragon Fire star was destined to win, avoiding the big mans lariats and hitting two Aoki Drivers- but it proved not enough to keep the big man down. Couple that with some help from fellow Outlaw Prime Time Worthy, and the big Texan would finally hit the big Lariat and a brutal powerbomb to stay undefeated.
After the match, an enraged Red put the boots to Aoki as Worthy distracted the ref, eventually hitting a second Cowboy Lariat before security could come out to make the save.
Winner: Red Masterson Rating: **** Markus Winter vs Machine Gun MayhemRecap: Markus Winter just continues to impress. Machine Gun was brutal all match, rag dolling the IC champion all over the ring, which included a wicked kick over the top rope and multiple brutal power bombs. But, as he has been all year, the viking proved hard to kill. Absorbing all the violence he finally picked his spot and nailed the Winter Is Coming for a shocking upset.
Winner: Markus Winter Rating: *** Doc Wyatt vs “Magnificent” Max Mosley (iWe)Recap: Easily the best match of B block on this night, and maybe the best match of the night. Magnificent Max looked like a superstar, dictating the pace and hitting Doc Wyatt with everything he had. Doc seemed overwelmed and perhaps a bit under prepared for his opponent- but nevertheless kept his composure and endured the onslaught. And in typical Doc fashion, after eating multiple near fall finishes, hit a piledriver into a superman punch for the win… except Max kicked out- and then hit Doc with a very Doc-esque rollup for the surprising victory.
Winner: Max Mosley Rating: **** John Logan vs Big Bama Ray (PCP)Recap: If this were a boxing match, it would be the equivalent of both men trying to knock each other out in the first round. After about 5 minutes of feeling each other out, and trying to out muscle each other, both men decided to just let it fly, each trading big move after big move- with neither giving ground. At one point Big Bama ate three consecutive Logans Run DDT’s, getting right back up after each one. In the end, Logan’s offense was too much for the PCP big man- hitting an Sky High and a forth Logans Run for the victory.
Winner: John Logan Rating: **** Rampage Hunter vs “Flyin” Jimmy HawkinsRecap: For the second straight week, it seems Jimmy Hawkins never stood a chance. Overpowered and unable to use his speed advantage, Rampage tore through his training partner for an easy win. Hawkins made a brief comeback, showering Rampage with superkicks, but the current PCP champion shrugged them off and ended it with a vicious LIGHTS OUT Powerbomb.

The first two weeks of block action have brought some exciting action, and have left the standings very open ended as to who could be the favorite to earn a trip to the finals. Week three, which will be broadcast LIVE this Thursday at 5:30pm PT, could be the week that we start to see separation in each block, and the contenders become clearer as some people fade to the back. Match Previews for Night Three:BLOCK ARed Masterson vs G.P. Christopher (Lightning Pro)The kickoff to the show will again be an important one, and could serve as a barometer for match of the night. Red Masterson holds the early lead in A Block, and a win over GPC would serve to both strengthen that lead as well as take out a primary contender for the top spot. But thats easier said than done- after a narrow loss on night one GPC has been perfect- both in an impressive night two win over CJ Fresh, as well as victory in his recent Office appearance. Masterson will have a significant size advantage, and he has looked good against faster opponents so far, but expect a dog fight from the King of the Openers. Kenta Aoki (Dragon Fire Japan) vs Machine Gun MayhemWith both men sitting at 1-1, this could be a make or break match. A loss would dig a deep hole while a win would re-open a path to the top of the standings. Aoki has been extremely impressive in his inaugural tournament, and he would seem to have all the needed elements to upset the Warrior Pro powerhouse. But Machine Gun is an unpredictable fighter who only seems to occasionally care about actually winning. His upset to Markus Winter should fuel his rage, which is bad news for the young standout. Expect this to be an explosive match with so much on the line for whats ahead. CJ Fresh (SHTCWA) vs Markus WinterSpeaking of make or break, the last match of A block will be just that. Markus Winter could see himself near the top of the standings with a win, while a loss for CJ would effectively eliminate him from the tournament. The Freshest has had two razor close matches to start the tournament, and it isn’t inconceivable to see an 0-2 start end with winning the block (Doc Wyatt won the block last year despite three losses). But he will need a win, this week, to have any conceivable shot. Both men have been putting on great matches so far, expect this one to feel like a finals bout.
BLOCK BJohn Logan vs Max Mosley (iWe)A battle of veteran fighters who have been using this tournament to prove they still have a ton of fight left in them. Logan has been a bit Jekyll and Hyde, showing dominance mixed with a lack of focus- while Max Mosley has taken advantage of Doc’s ego to shock the former champion. Despite long careers this will be the first time these two have ever faced off against each other, and it will be interesting to see if Max can pull off the second straight upset, or if Logan can maintain the dominance he displayed last week against another promotion outsider. Doc Wyatt vs Jimmy HawkinsIs something wrong with Doc Wyatt? The former champion and G2 winner has looked less himself the past two weeks, and a timely roll-up on John Logan is the only thing keeping this match from being the battle of the 0-2’s. But then again, maybe its all going according to plan- Doc sat at 1-1 last year as well before taking the block and his opponent this week has been in a bigger funk. Jimmy Hawkins has not found his footing yet in this tournament, and if he doesnt show up this week, might as well pack his bags. Unlike CJ Fresh over in A block, “Flyin” Jimmy’s matches have not been competitive- barely lasting 10 minutes with both Big Bama Ray and Rampage Hunter. He’s going to have to dig deep to stay alive against the former world champ. If he does come to fight, this could be a sneaky pick for MotN. Big Bamma Ray (PCP) vs Rampage HunterThe main event is actually a rematch from one of the best Warrior Pro matches of the year, and the forth time these two have stared back at each other across the ring this year. They met in a three way match for a shot at the PCP title. They met in the finals of the Southwest Memorial tournament in Tiger Stripe Pro. And they brought the house down at a Warrior Grounds show. Rampage won each and every time. They have all been competitive, some have had match of the year buzz. But Rampage is a puzzle Big Bamma Ray has not solved. They’ll main event Night Three days after Rampage again successfully defended the PCP title. Expect another brutal big boy fight as both men try and knock the other out. Can Bama finally get over the Rampage hump? Or will the Belt Collector take a commanding lead in the block

Night Three of the G2 showcased some of the best matches the tournament has had to offer thus far, but failed to bring any definitive clarity on who might be the front runners for each block. It will instead come down to these final two weeks to determine who will have a shot in the finals to take on World Heavyweight Champion Vic Baron at Warriorversary. As usual, scroll down for full matches and recaps (there were no post show interviews this week)… Red Masterson vs G.P. ChristopherRecap: A close match from the start, but it very much seemed like GPC-who has been red hot both inside and outside the tournament as of late- had the big man well scouted. He seemed to anticipate Red’s crushing lariat any time it came out, and after multiple Destiny Drivers, gifted Masterson his first defeat and a share of the block lead.
Winner: G.P. Christopher Rating: *** Kenta Aoki vs Machine Gun MayhemRecap: Aoki has been one of the gems of this tournament, and has received buzz both inside and outside the promotion as a fast rising star. But apparently Machine Gun didnt get the memo. The monster was in peak form, shrugging off most of the Dragon Fire star’s offense before hitting a Bone Crusher for the victory.
Winner: Machine Gun Mayhem Rating: **** CJ Fresh vs Markus WinterRecap: CJ came out in this match like a man desperate for a win- pushing the pace and keeping The Viking off balance. But he left a tiny window, and Markus Winter took advantage, hitting back to back Winter Is Coming for the victory.
Winner: Markus Winter Rating: *** Doc Wyatt vs Jimmy HawkinsRecap: Another man in bad need of a win, Jimmy Hawkins left everything he had in the ring- it just wasn’t good enough against maybe the smartest wrestler on the planet. Hawkins threw everything at Doc, hitting superkicks and knees that should have put an end to the match. But Doc being Doc, stayed aware enough to keep close to the ropes- and when Hawkins went to finish the match for good with a Hawk Splash, he dove out of the ring and stalled. While Hawkins rested in the ring Doc snuck back in, hit the brass knuckles and covered for the pin.
Winner: Doc Wyatt Rating:[ *****/b] John Logan vs Max MosleyRecap: Another classic. Coming off an impressive win over Doc Wyatt, Max Mosley seemed determined to put down another former G2 winner with a barrage of suplexes. It was eerily reminiscent of Logan’s failed championship match with Vic Baron- only this time Logan found a way to hang on- and a reversed irish whip into a massive Sky High turned into the difference maker and gave Logan a win by the skin of his teeth.
Winner: John Logan Rating: ***** Big Bamma Ray vs Rampage HunterRecap: The main event proved to be another chapter in what is turning into a storied rivalry between these two. No different from there previous bouts, it was all offense from the opening bell- with both men going for knockouts right from the start. But experience breeds new strategies, and unlike past fights Bama seemed to be ready for Rampage’s spear. When it came out, he was able to side step it, hit a powerslam, and then hit the Rammer Jammer for the pin.
Winner: Big Bama Ray Rating: **** STANDINGS After Night Three:

The tournament hits the home stretch, with two rounds left to go and virtually everyone still alive in both blocks. For the first time in the tournament’s history, every participant has at least one loss- and the path to the block lead seems especially murky with each side of the bracket sitting with four wrestlers tied for first. Night Four should clear things up, as we will likely widdle out the pretenders heading into the final night of action. As usual, you can see all the Night Four action LIVE @5:30pm PT TOMORROW on TWITCH.Match Previews for Night Four: BLOCK AMachine Gun Mayhem vs GP Christopher (Lightning Pro)The preliminary main event will once again carry huge implications towards who will have the inside track to the top of A Block. Machine Gun looked terrifying last week in his dismantling of Kenta Aoki, and he’ll need an equally impressive performance to get past GPC- who last week took out the undefeated Red Masterson. This will be another classic power vs speed match, and may come down to whether GPC can avoid Machine Gun’s bone rattling offense enough to get the powerhouse off his feet. Markus Winter vs Kenta Aoki (Dragon Fire Japan)Markus Winter will need a win here to keep pace on the leaderboard, and with a win over Machine Gun, he’s own a potentially critical tie breaker. For Aoki, a loss week effectively ended his tournament- with tie breaker disadvantages over both Machine Gun and Red Masterson. But the Japanese star has a chance to play spoiler here, and the matchup against the Warrior Pro Intercontinental Champion could very well be MotN. Expect a fast paced, hard hitting affair where it may come down to who can outlast the other. Red Masterson vs CJ Fresh (SHTCWA)This has been a disappointing tournament for the Super Hyper Turbo star, capped off by a shockingly one sided loss last week to Markus Winter. But he’ll have a chance to mess with the block standings if he can hand Red his second loss, and GPC presented the playbook on how to do just that last week. Red will try and bounce back from his own disappointing loss and head into a final week showdown with MGM that could very well be for the A Block. BLOCK BMax Mosley (iWe) vs Big Bamma Ray (PCP)There are a lot of “what ifs” regarding Max Mosley’s first tournament in Warrior Pro. Two razor close losses have effectively eliminated the iWe star, but he’ll have a chance to upset the standings with a win against a very impressive Big Bama Ray. Bama finally avenged his two losses to Rampage last week and a win here would allow him to keep pace with the leaders heading into the final week. A first time matchup between not only these two stars, but the promotions they represent, this match could be a classic if both men’s past tournament matches are any indication. Jimmy Hawkins vs John LoganJimmy Hawkins is now 0-6 for his career in G2 action. After a MotT candidate against Doc Wyatt, Hawkins will face off against a white hot John Logan, trying to get not only his first tournament win, but his first career win over the G2 legend. Logan is in must win mode, and he will have to hope for a Rampage win as well to set up a match with the big man next week to determine the block winner. Don’t sleep on this match- Hawkins, despite his record, could give Logan problems with his speed and athleticism. Expect a competitive match with more than bragging rights on the line in this one. Rampage Hunter vs Doc WyattThe show’s main event is an epic one. These two have not faced each other since Doc beat Rampage in Mexico over a year ago for the Warrior Pro World Title. Rampage is one of only a handful of wrestlers that have consistently given Doc problems, but the big man will have to be keenly aware of all of Doc’s tricks. The winner of this match controls their own destiny in the block, with matchups against Bama and Logan set up on next weeks show to determine the block winner. This could very well end up being a MotY candidate. TUNE IN TOMORROW ON TWITCH TO CATCH ALL THE ACTION!

Night Four of the Golden Gate Tournament will kick off TONIGHT at 5:30pm PT. There are still eight men fighting for 2 spots in the finals in two weeks, with the winner of that match getting a shot at the World Champ, Vic Baron, at Warriorversary II. The main event tonight features a rematch of former champions, as Doc Wyatt will face off against Rampage Hunter- the winner will have the inside track to the top B block spot heading into the final week. Night Four of the 2020 G2 was another action packed show, and took us one step closer to determining who would face off in the finals in two weeks. As usual, scroll down for all the matches and recaps- as well as some very interesting post show comments from some of our winners, including a heated confrontation….
Machine Gun Mayhem vs GP ChristopherRecap: GPC said in the leadup to the fight that he wasnt going to run away, and wanted to stand toe to toe with the Warrior Pro monster- and that he did. The Preliminary Main Eventer used his quickness to get inside Machine Gun’s reach and kept him off balance. The strategy seemed like it might prove fruitful… until it didnt- MGM landed a slew of vicious blows that busted GPC open, then sunk a Torturous Half Crap deep causing the Victorious Medal holder to pass out- ending the match, and GPC’s shot at the block.
Winner: Machine Gun Mayhem Rating: **** Markus Winter vs Kenta AokiRecap: A highly anticipated match-up heading into the night against two of the most impressive young stars in the business, turned into a surprisingly one sided affair with Winter controlling the pace and landing shot after shot while Aoki struggled to gain any offense. It took two Northern Lights Suplex’s to finish him off, but Markus Winter continues his impressive 2020 eliminating Aoki and moving into first place (via a tie breaker with MGM) for the block lead.
Winner: Markus Winter Rating: *** Before the next match can get started, Kenta Aoki would come back out to the ring looking very disorientated and attempting to wrestle Red Masterson. After several minutes of confusion, Aoki was walked to the back and the a bewildered CJ Fresh and Red Masterson would get ready to square off...Red Masterson vs CJ FreshRecap: CJ’s tournament has been filled with frustration and missed opportunity, and this match was no different. For much of the contest CJ avoided Red’s powerful lariat and ran circles around the big man- visibly gassing him. A thunderous superman punch seemed to have the match won, but Red’s long reach saved him as he was able to grab the ropes, and a frustrated CJ left himself open to the Unforgiven jackhammer that would end the match.
The victory left A block with a three way tie with Red in the drivers seat via tie breakers.
Winner: Red Masterson Rating: *** b]Max Mosley vs Big Bama Ray[/b] Recap: If there were any thoughts that Big Bama Ray would have a letdown match after his huge emotional victory, he quickly squashed those with another impressive outing against Max Mosley. Mosley never looked comfortable against the big man, and couldn't create enough separation to avoid his offense. A lethal Rammer Jammer in the far corner would do it and officially eliminate the iWe star, and send Bama to the top of the B block.
Winner: Big Bama Ray Rating: *** Jimmy Hawkins vs John LoganRecap: Jimmy Hawkins finally got his G2 win, and it may very well go down as the biggest upset in G2 tournament history. Despite all the losses, Hawkins continued to fight with confidence, nearly beating Doc last week and trading blows with Logan early on. Its tough to tell if the tournament has wore down the older vet, but Logan looked less fresh and a step slower than the younger Hawkins. But Logan was not an easy kill, kicking out of two superkicks and a Hawk Splash, before hitting a Logan’s Run that was sure to win it- except Flyin Jimmy kicked out, rallied, and hit a final superkick to eliminate last year’s winner and a two time finalist.
For the first time, the G2 Finals will not feature John Logan.
Winner: Jimmy Hawkins Rating: ***** Rampage Hunter vs Doc WyattRecap: A renewal of one of the top rivalries last year, these two picked up where they left off. A back and forth battle that had a lot of interference from Roy Carter, with double teams on the outside and Roy at one point handing brass knucks to Doc who hit Rampage right between the eyes, busting him open and appearing to give Doc a repeat of last week. Except when the Outlaws rolled Rampage back into the ring the big man shot up and hit Doc with a vicious spear for the come from behind victory.
The win put Rampage in a tie with Big Bama Ray for the block lead, and left Doc Wyatt on the verge of elimination.
Winner: Rampage Hunter Rating: **** STANDINGS AFTER NIGHT FOUR:
After the show it was announced that Kenta Aoki was being evaluated for a concussion and his status for his match next week was up in the air. A few fighters had words after their matches tonight... Markus WinterRed MastersonRampage HunterJimmy Hawkins

The final week of block action takes place this week, and with both blocks still very much up for grabs, this could prove to be an intense night of wrestling. The winner of each block will go on next week to the finals with a shot at World Heavyweight Champion Vic Baron at Warriorversary II on the line. [/div] The current scenarios for both blocks: For Block A, a Red Masterson win over Machine Gun Mayhem guarantees him the top spot via tie breaker advantage over Markus Winter. If he loses to Machine Gun and Markus Winter defeats GP Christopher, the Intercontinental Champion will claim the block based on his win over Machine Gun. If he loses and MGM beats Red Masterson, Machine Gun Mayhem will earn the trip to the finals. For Block B, Big Bama Ray sits in the drivers seat- a win gives him the Block due to his win over Rampage Hunter. If he loses and Rampage beats John Logan, Rampage will earn the top spot. If both Bama and Rampage lose to Doc Wyatt and John Logan, all four men will sit at 3-2, with Doc Wyatt backdoor-ing his way into the top spot for the second year in a row.
As usual, you can see all the Night Five action LIVE @5:30pm PT THURSDAY on TWITCH.Match Previews for Night Five: BLOCK AGP Christopher (Lightning Pro) vs Markus WinterThe Preliminary Main Event will carry a ton of weight this week as a win will effectively eliminate Machine Gun Mayhem and put Markus in perfect position to claim the block. But he’ll still have to get past GPC, who has been impressive all tournament despite a pair of razor thin losses. Expect a lot of hard, fast strikes in this one as the Victorious Medal holder looks to play spoiler. CJ Fresh (SHTCWA) vs James Moore (Empower Pro Wrestling)A change to the card was announced just before print by Warrior Pro- calling Kenta Aoki out with a concussion he suffered in last weeks match. Since both men had already been eliminated, the call was made to bring in a replacement for the final match. Enter rookie James Moore, who has been working out of the small Empower Pro. Moore carries a cocky, hard striking style that should produce an entertaining match against the veteran CJ Fresh, who is hoping to shake off a disappointing tournament and end on a high note. Red Masterson vs Machine Gun MayhemThis could very well be a match for the block, if Markus cannot survive his match. Either way, Red controls his own destiny, and a win will give the impressive Texan a chance to earn his first title shot. But it won’t be easy, as Machine Gun has looked like his full destructive self all tournament, and the powerhouse seems to be just focused enough to hold off the Outlaw and make his own claim for Vic Baron’s title. BLOCK BMax Mosley (iWe) vs Jimmy HawkinsBoth men are out of the running for the Block, but this could still steal votes for MotN. Jimmy and Max have impressive upsets that point to bigger things after the tournament wraps up, and a win here could help propel those efforts. Hawkins will have to repeat his performance from last week, keeping distance with strikes and movement and not letting Magnificent Max’s deadly offense get rolling. With rumblings that David Harley might be starting to run shows in the near future, this could be a showcase for an Intercontinental title opportunity. John Logan vs Rampage HunterAn emotional John Logan was visibly frustrated last week after being eliminated from the block for the first time in the tournaments history. He’ll be no doubt frustrated that while he can play spoiler in his match vs Rampage, a victory will actually help in securing Doc Wyatt’s cause. Regardless, this is the first time these two have met in a ring since their 2019 Match of the Year over a year and a half ago. Rampage will need a repeat performance if he wants any shot at the Block, and Logan will want to prove that age and injuries are not catching up with him. This should be a classic. Big Bama Ray (PCP) vs Doc WyattIt has been a year of discovery for the Port City Pro star, at one point reflecting on his future in the sport after multiple failed attempts at beating Rampage Hunter. Now he’s one win away from besting Rampage and winning the entire block- a block that has the first two tournament winners included in it. So its only fitting that the man he has to beat to get there is none other than Mr. B Block himself, Doc Wyatt. Doc has proven time and time again to be an opportunist, and so you have to expect he will pull out all the stops to ensure another trip to the G2 finals. But don’t count out Bama, who’s Cinderella tournament seems destined to move into the finals. Either way, everything will be on the line for this one- expect it to be a war.

Last night signaled the end of block competition, and we finally have our main event for next weeks Finals set. The night was filled with entertaining matches, and some surprise finishes. As usual, scroll down for all the matches and recaps. After, check out the post show press conference where we hear from some of the winners, and Tank McDaniel gives a sneak peak at the Finals card for next week... GP Christopher vs Markus WinterRecap: A hard hitting opener, this match seemed impacted by the brutal wars both men have been in throughout the tournament. Markus seemed to gas early, and his trademark Winter is Coming seemed to hit flat, as the more experienced GPC set and pushed the pace throughout. Eventually, it was the Victorious Medal holder who went up top and finished off Winter with a diving body press, playing spoiler and eliminating The Viking.
Winner: GP Christopher Rating: *** CJ Fresh vs James MooreRecap: A lot of what ifs came out of this one. James Moore, coming in on short notice due to injuries to Kenta Aoki, looked impressive against the well known vet. And CJ, finally, looked focused and determined- staying in control and mixing in hard kicks with his patented dancing flare. When the Empower Pro rookie gave him an opening, CJ Fresh took it, nailing a bridg German suplex for the win.
Winner: CJ Fresh Rating: *** Red Masterson vs Machine Gun MayhemRecap: With Markus eliminated, this match was for the A block. Both men came out guns blazing from the start, exchanging big move after big move, with neither able to fully put the other away long enough for a three count. Eventually, Machine Gun skipped the pinning part and Powerbombed Red until he went unconscious and the match was forced to be stopped.
Winner: Machine Gun Mayhem Rating: ****
After the match Red was attended by medical personnel as he was seen conscious but grabbing his right shoulder as both Roy Carter and Byron Worthy looked on. Eventually, with the help of the other Outlaws, he was able to make it to the back... Max Mosley vs Jimmy HawkinsRecap: This one was just for pride, with both men already eliminated but owning wins over Doc Wyatt and John Logan respectively. A turbo paced match with both men in full sprint, this one ended almost before it could get started. After catching Hawkins in a few submissions near the ropes, Mosley got caught and “Flyin” Jimmy took to the skies to hit a Hawk Splash for the victory.
Winner: Jimmy Hawkins Rating: *** John Logan vs Rampage HunterRecap: This match, with Rampage fighting for a trip to the Finals, was not as good as their 2019 Match of the Year, but it was still a classic. Both men threw everything at each other- Rampage hit a Lights OUT for a close 2.9, and Logan hit two Logan’s Runs that appeared enough to clinch a win- but both men kept bouncing back up. It took a change of strategy, with Logan wearing the big man down with submissions and sapping Rampage of his energy, for a third Logan’s Run to seal the deal and eliminate the PCP Champion.
Winner: John Logan Rating: **** Big Bama Ray vs Doc WyattRecap: WIth Rampage eliminated, this became a winner take all match- and both men proceeded to put on a classic. The match was back and forth- with Doc seemingly setting the pace and initiating the offense, but the tide was turning when Bama went up top to set up for a… it never happened, a Doc counter into a rollup almost had it. Bama would try to fight back with a massive lariat, but Doc kicked out, countered again and hit Black Gold for win and the block.
Winner: Doc Wyatt Rating: **** POST SHOW PRESS CONFERENCEBefore reporters could talk to any of the wrestlers, Tank McDaniel sat down to provide a brief statement….Wrestlers that were made available…
