I’ve been diving into old stuff to try to get a grasp on how great Dusty was, he’s almost always cited as being a favourite or a big influence amongst the last, and sometimes recent, generations of wrestlers, but I only ever witnessed the cartoonish polka dot wwf stuff. On my journey I found matches with Flair, Race, and a pile of others, seen the “hard times” promo, and heard testimonials about how Dusty gave people their first chance in the business. I listened to Stone Cold and JR talk shortly after Dusty died, and SC mentioned this match. It was fun to watch, the crowd is red hot, Flair and Anderson look great, it’s not a 30 min broadway, there’s one flip if you count a flair back drop, it’s all a ground based brawl, but it’s effective and it connects with the fans. Some goofy shit goes down, but it feels like a natural response to the crowd, and not some planned spot. I hope you can find something to enjoy here like I did!

I didn't realize just how good Arn Anderson was until recently. I watched some of his matches in Mid Atlantic when he first came in as Ole's partner. I think the best way to describe his wrestling is crisp. Every move is done with purpose and what I guess I would call a snap. His interviews were also really good. Listening to them I kind of get a Stone Cold vibe. Makes me wonder how much influence he had on Steve Austin. I wonder, if he wouldn't have been grouped with Flair, how big he could have been.

I put these up a few pages back… 😁 I’ve always liked double A, he was always a solid worker, tag or singles, and he always carried an air of legitimacy. I need to go back and watch more Arn (and Tully) as well!

He is Arn Anderson...and all that implies 😄
Arn is the man and is still awesome to this day. Loved him in the original Horsemen, the Brainbusters, the later Horsemen (where he was often the only one truly devoted to the cause), and in his roles as occasionally visible backstage agent (lol), and AEW grizzled veteran influence 😎
And that spinebuster 😲

I love the spinebuster, and Arn’s in particular. The float at the top, followed by that SNAP at the end. A thing of beauty!
And OT, Alex Wright, I remember seeing him fed to all of the mid card and up and comers back in WCW. He was good, the feed for the DDT in that gif, Arn with the bully punch fake out, and Wright gets flattened by what amounts to a snap DDT! I also remember watching Benoit chain German (or is it just a suplex in Wright’s case?) Wright into dust on at least a couple of occasions! Wright was fun to watch, even if you knew he was just a snack for one of the top lions!

Alex Wright is someone that I definitely didn't fully appreciate at the time of his run. His talent as enhancement to bring out the opponents is clear here. His "Wunderkind" dancing gimmick and mini-push was a little annoying but he was a good heel to boo. I would have liked Regal to take Wright under his wing actually. That could have been great 😎

A run with Regal would have been gold! Missed opportunity!

It would have been worth it just to see Regal's perfect expression of shock and disgust every time Wright did the dance 🕺

I think Walter should do a version of this in the next game he’s in! 😁

Speaking of Alex Wright, anyone remember his doomed run as Berlyn in WCW in '99?

On one of the recent Cornette podcasts they did a watch along of Bret Hart vs Razor Ramon from Royal Rumble 1993. I looked the match up and watched it on my own tonight, so fun to see these guys working in the primes of their respective careers, so mobile and strong, not totally jaded, just busting their asses to put together a good match and working to keep top spots. There’s so much nuance and so many moves in this match you don’t see anymore, I almost forgot they existed! Fun match to watch between two greats of the industry, I hope you enjoy! www.dailymotion.com/video/x80dxp0

How did THIS not survive?! 🤣
I wonder if Dr. George Zahorian was the main physician for this endeavour as well? 😁

I’ve been reading the Stampede Wrestling book Pain and Passion: The History of Stampede Wrestling, and enjoying it immensely. Lots of surprises as far as the names that were involved on both the wrestler and behind the scenes aspects of the promotion. I love listening to stu ramble on in that gravelly voice of his. I stumbled across this gem in my wanderings, it’s crazy to see so many hall of famers in their prime in on this card. Please ignore/do not be deterred by the extensive ramblings of our once premier ralph Klein at the beginning, fast forward past that nonsense and enjoy the show! 😁
