I was watching the Cruiserweight Battle Royal from Slamboree 98 and got to THAT iconic moment (you know, the one with "Ciclope") when it sort of hit me: there's no way they could get away with that today because of all the rumor-mongering that's EVERYWHERE! While the first thing I'm adding here is also one of those "things that couldn't happen today" (at least without being ruined by smarks in attendance), the thing that I'm really going for is a collection of awesome moments from all across the world of professional wrestling PAST. We all have different interests and tastes so really, anything's fair game. If you thought something was great from way back when then by all means, SHARE THAT S*** HERE!
Starting off with a moment that STILL gives me literal goosebumps when I watch it

I'm actually doing an angle between the NWO and the Ruthless Aggression Era because of a rivalry I have going between Nash and Edge. So I have twelve names from the Ruthless Aggression Era and I need to narrow it down to 5 or 6.
The wrestlers I have are Edge(who's already in), Cena, Orton, E.Guerrero, Angle, Benoit, Batista, HHH, Taker, Lesnar, Y2J & JBL.
Help me out picking 5 or 6 from the 12, and I'll see if mine that I have in mind match up or not. This involves two separate eras, so I hope its ok to put my post in this thread. Thanks

This was so amazing to watch as a kid. :) Since I only got WCW where I lived, this was simply unbelievable to me. I legit bought into this storyline when I was a kid. XD

What I meant was that with the advent of social media and people gossiping about this and that incessantly, there's just no "art of surprise" anymore when it comes to anything WWE.
When the Jericho thing happened, a lot of people knew that he'd left WCW for WWE but nobody knew specifically when he'd show up, even with all of the cryptic countdown stuff (that really had nothing that immediately screamed Chris Jericho; it was just numbers counting down to the "new millennium"). It wasn't until his name flashed across the screen after a 30 second countdown/intro graphic that people knew who it was, and that made moment legitimately awesome. Complete shock.
Now, you'd have a third of the audience yelling out his name as soon as the clock appeared. No surprise, no shock, no "moment."
Maybe I'm just "old and crotchety" about these kids and their dangfangled tweeter and faceboob and such and such

I think the biggest mark out moment I ever had growing up was when I found out that Bret Hart won his first WWF Heavyweight Title.
On a Saturday morning I turned on WWF Superstars of Wrestling. The show started with this announcement:
"And your new WWF Heavyweight Champion, Bret "The Hitman Hart!"
I was floored. Mouth literally wide open. Too shocked to even initially cheer because I just had no understanding of the situation. Hart is still my favorite of all time but my teen markdom plus my cynical smarkdom combined to create a never again replicated combined feeling of shock and happiness. How he was suddenly the Champion, and how he beat Ric Flair of all people (who was my #2 favorite wrestler) was just beyond the scope of my expectations.
And to have the top title change on a house show was unprecedented at that time for me. A fully-formed smark Geese would shit all over that and say the title change wasn't given enough legitimacy but mark Geese didn't care. Mark Geese was just happy his favorite wrestler finally won the top title by beating a legend.
Seeing Bret walk out to the crowd with the Title and hearing that announcement is absolutely my biggest mark out nostalgia moment. That feeling of shock would be difficult to replicate now given how news travels.
Then I laughed as Bobby "The Brain" Heenan couldn't stop complaining about "SASKATOON!" (Saskatoon,Saskatchewan) where the Title change occurred.
If that happened in 2018, we'd all be seeing #SASKAGATE until we nausea't up our body's fragile humours.
Jack Tunney really pulled off an awesome moment there, LOL 😁

I LOVED WCW Chris Jericho. The shit he did back then was epic, his stuff with (Stanko) Malenko, his matches with the cruisers in general, THE MOST MUSCULAR POSE PIN (I used it CONSTANTLY to piss off my friends when we played the old AKI wrestling games!), the WCW Monday Jericho shirt, all of it was gold. I marked out hard for the whole countdown to WWF thing (although I really disliked the "Y2J" moniker, never liked that that one stuck), I thought he'd finally get the push and the attention he deserved. Fun stuff, and yeah, it would be tough to pull off any big surprises these days (main reason I stay out of the RDR2 thread until I eventually crack into that beast! :) ) I guess one that I really dug, although it wasn't a very well kept secret even back then, was the invasion of WWF by Eddy, Benoit, Malenko, and Saturn (Radikalz... shudder. sounded like lil' rascals to me back then). I was so stoked for those guys to get what I thought would be the exposure they deserved. Always was a huge cruiserweight fan, I got exposure to them from WCW, but I wanted them main eventing, so it was cool to see the boys show up ringside for WWF to start their run! (Check out Benoit and Saturn's shirts! Awesome stuff! LOL!)

Happy New Year!Been thinking about how much I loved watching Eddy, Benoit, and all of those guys back in the day. I loved this skit, some classic Eddy shit. :) I bet it was Cyclope all along, that one eyed bitch! Also, THIS! Los Gringos Locos vs Hijo del Santo and Octagon!
I LOVE this match, The Gringos have such crazy (LATINO) heat with the crowd! Awesome stuff, such great heels! :) Man I miss Eddy.

Hey El Marsh you remember that Portia Perez still exists, right? (Well just in case anyone needed confirmation of such in 2019, she made this video for pro wrestling photographer Kelly Kyle recently.) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bs4vdBSHC3m

I know she retired from in-ring stuff but is she still active anywhere as a manager, trainer, producer, etc?
