Was going to start my Resident Evil series playthrough last night but saw that almost all the games had updates to be downloaded. So while those downloaded I ended up playing through all of Hotline Miami in one sitting, now I feel obligated to go through Hotline Miami 2.

It took me a while to get through Hotline Miami, still haven't finished Hotline Miami 2 but it's a great game with a terrific soundtrack as well. :)

Finished Hotline Miami 2 tonight. Amazing games and one of the better stories I have seen in a game in a long time. Very trippy and nebulous. You have to really pay attention to detail to try and get enough clues to piece things together. When I was finished them I really felt like I had just woken up from a strange dream.

Less of a now playing and more of a thought about a game that I finished relatively recently but you know, I really loved the story of Yakuza 0 as well as the dual protagonist chapter style. Kiryu was largely the same character that he's always been in the series, just younger and slightly more naive. Goro Majima though.....young Majima is a marked contrast to how he appears in later games but the story of Y:0 demonstrates the changes that happened to him and why he became like he is in the later setting.

Started messing around with Anthem, not sure where all of the negativity is coming from for the game, it looks and sounds incredible, the controls are very intuitive, flying is amazing (this would be a great build for an ironman game!), the combat and explosions are intense, and the controller feedback makes you feel like you're in a powerful yet agile machine! The online all the time aspect isn't my cup of tea, but so far that aspect hasn't been that bad of an experience (everyone is still too green to have had time to get too obnoxious I guess). A friend very generously provided me with a promotional copy otherwise I might have passed on it for a year or two, but I'm glad I got a chance to give it a try, it's a lot of fun (and so far a hell of a lot better than The Division and other crap like that that I've tried). Give this one a look and forget about the reviews!

/\ In my case, I don't like playing games with random people. Video games are what I do to get AWAY from dealing with other people.
Bioware games are traditionally amazing for that, but it seems like EA is pushing them to either change fundamentally or be sabotaged.
The actual gameplay part of Anthem actually sounds kinda fun, but the thought of only being able to do it with other people makes me wanna stab my brain out.

The actual gameplay part of Anthem actually sounds kinda fun, but the thought of only being able to do it with other people makes me wanna stab my brain out. My gaming habits are exactly like yours, I play to unwind and escape, and do it by myself. The game is a technical beast, any gamer would be really hard pressed to play Anthem and outright say “there is NOTHING fun, impressive, or cool about this experience”. I’ve barely scratched the surface of the game, but I am enjoying what I’ve played so far. I don’t get the online only thing myself, but that seems to be the trend now, and less and less the narrative driven, traditional offline experience seems to be dying. For fans of the single player experience, and specifically Bioware’s stuff, it can be tough to see them head in that direction, too, but ultimately, unfortunately, they have shareholders to answer to and EA’s trend in all of their development houses is one of online multiplayer. I feel bad for BioWare, they’re victims of their own success. All they’ve done is make winner after winner, and now that graph of fan expectation vs output is measured exponentially, and when they tow the company line for funding and to keep their jobs, fans riot. Don’t get me wrong, this type of experience is not my thing, but it is a fun, incredibly well made game, and the dude I got my copy from said the office was a sombre place on Friday, they’re perfectionists and are crushed the fans aren’t happy. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them turn Anthem into a beast in the next few months.

Bioware was already brought back down to Earth with how badly Mass Effect Andromeda tanked.
Also, it doesnt help that your parent company published a free to play shooter a month prior to your buy-to-play shooter. I know it's two separate developers, but that's still asking for bad times.

Yeah, no doubt. Look at footage of Apex Legends, the flying even looks like anthem. Brutal move. And yeah, the last mass effect was a dud, but it was also developed primarily by bioware’s EA appointed Montreal studio (not the Edmonton one) and apparently it was a Schmoz from day one with Montreal insisting they were good and had the game under control, then near release having ea send some of the Edmonton crew in to try to do some damage control, so yeah, the last ME game was developed by another group and was only wearing the ME hat...

/\ Not to mention they had to change the entire engine the game was running on (per an edict from EA) something like 6 months before release - to an engine that, at the time, didn't support animation in cutscenes/dialog (if I'm remembering the exact boggle correctly).
The first game was in development for seven YEARS, so trying to re-do the whole thing in six months went...well, yeah. It actually ended up better than it probably had any right to, but still disappointing.
That's what I was referring to by "or get sabotaged" regarding Bioware's relationship with EA. It definitely soured me on EA quite a bit.

It definitely soured me on EA quite a bit. I've been soured on EA for a long time now, myself. I know the gaming business is big dollars and it IS a business, but I remember the first time I realized how preposterous the whole micro transaction and day one DLC thing was. I was at a friends' place, he's really into sports titles, and he really liked the Tiger Woods golf games as well. There was a virtual store where you could buy virtual nike golf shirts for your virtual douchebag debutante for around $5 real money. I know this is nothing new, and everyone has different levels of commitment to their games, but that shirt and the dissolution of Visceral and Pandemic (and EA sports BIG...), I've had no use for them for years. And now, EA has moved BioWare's headquarters from the southside location that they've been at for ages, close to employees homes, the schools their kids go to, businesses that employees have haunted for ages to the new, pretentious downtown "Ice District" (where the shithead Oilers play and our fancy new arena that no one in the city can afford to go to...) is situated. Parking is not subsidized and will cost employees a pile of money, not to mention the commute. Sorry, not a fan of EA. But the person I know who is associated with BioWare tows the corporate line and doesn't mind EA at all, and really doesn't seem to think they're being stifled creatively at all, and has gone as far as saying they'd have likely no have been doing as well or out of business altogether if it hadn't been for EA. Who knows, maybe it's fun for us to vilify evil corporations from our soap boxes at our computers, but come on, how can you not be at least a little pissed at a company that scuttled franchises like Road Rash and SSX?!?! :)

Don’t know how it took so long but I just got my first CRITICAL! in FPW while playing the “get a 50% rating” level in Mission Mode. I guess it was a power crit, and it was pretty satisfying. It’s odd that I’ve been playing FP for so long but somehow it’s still so surprising and satisfying when that word pops up on the screen and your opponent is splayed out in the barrel of monkeys position! I like the little sound effect that plays when it happens, too! :)

I'm always pleasantly surprised by a CRITICAL! 😁
Congratulations on getting the first one in FPW!!

Sekiro is pretty awesome so far, feels like a cross between Bloodbourne and Tenchu. The game is beautiful, and in true FROM fashion, lots of really creepy bastard enemies and allies. The game has a really slick feel to it, and the grappling hook adds seamless verticality to combat and exploration. I don't usually buy games on day one (WAY too expensive), but I've been a Tenchu fan for so long (and I like FROM's games in general) I couldn't pass this one up, and I even got the sweet preorder bonus katana letter opener (turned down the full sized poster though)!
Just barely scratched the surface so far, but what I've seen I've liked so far, now I just have to figure out how to off this big prick in samurai armour who keeps killing me... :)

I had a couple Amazon gift cards lying around so I finally used them up and aside from Sekiro I have Generation Zero, Assassins Creed III Remastered, Assassins Creed Rogue Remastered and The Division 2 all on the way. My SNK 40th Anniversary arrived on Friday but I haven't opened it yet. On the PS store I picked up The Messenger and Beat Cop but am still working on another run of Darkest Dungeon with the new DLC. And I went ahead and ordered Xenon Racer to hold me over until Crash Team Racing.
