A Message from Rei Hasegawa Rei Hasegawa: (Translated from Japanese) <There is a part of me that desires very much to file an official complaint with the management of Phoenix Rising concerning the competency and the objectivity of its officiating. Certainly, I would have taken such actions were this a year ago. The events that transpired at the event titled "Sky's the Limit IV" would have been understandably frustrating to even the most composed of athletes.>
Rei: <But I have spoken with Keiko and I must compliment her, for she endured the worst of my petulance, a trait which I have worked incredibly hard to dispose and dissuaded me from the course of action I initially wished to follow. And as a result, I will not protest my defeat, no matter how unreasonable I believe it to be. It does not matter if the official in question was unable to have even the slightest awareness that it would have taken to avoid a collision at the worst possible time. It does not matter that the official stayed down while it was disadvantageous for my team. It also does not matter that this official suddenly recovered instantly when it benefitted our opponents. I am not happy. But I am not blaming the official. I am not doing so....officially. No, I am not doing so entirely.>
Rei: <However, I am incredibly frustrated at this turn of events and as a result, what I ask for, is for a rematch with these Yoshida Twins, at the soonest agreeable occasion for all parties. Keiko and I, we would be most appreciative if we could have another chance to prove ourselves. And I believe it is in the best interest for Phoenix Rising for the legitimacy of its champions to be entirely beyond question. Please take this request under consideration, if you would.>

Gonna go ahead and do a double-card post so I don't have to worry about anything else this week. Firstly, coming up on Monday, Proving Ground. Proving Ground Episode 82 Felice Santana vs. Jessika Boom
Winter Fresh vs. The Excellent Blades
Aria Kintelas vs. Amber Wright
Rei Hasegawa vs. Shiori Yoshida
La Familia vs. Adrenaline Rush
Ziggy Rockefeller vs. Arthur Wright
Keiko Maeda vs. Naoko Yoshida
The Gallego Twins vs. The Pride of Scotland (Leona/Nick)
Anahera vs. SATOMI The night kicks off with a match that's certain to be a spectacular, high-flying affair, with Felice Santana looking to make an impact against Jessika Boom. Jessika could be looking to raise her stock as well, and it's easy to guess that this one's going to be fierce and fast. Two of Proving Ground's best and most enduring duos square off once again, with Winter Fresh seeking to come up big once again against the Blades... but rumor has it that Donna Nobel has thrown herself deeper into her training as of late, and could make this a completely different match from the last time we saw the Blades. Aria Kintelas continues to fight to prove herself, and this week, she steps into the ring with a former Inspire Champion, with Amber Wright fighting to rise back up through the ranks of the division. Aria has been tested in her time on Proving Ground, and this might be one of the toughest ones yet, but she's sure to rise to the occasion. Controversy at Sky's the Limit has led to calls for a rematch between White Hot and the Yoshida Twins for the Proving Ground Tag Team Championships... though it won't happen right away this week. First, Rei Hasegawa will step into the ring one-on-one with Shiori Yoshida, as White Hot looks to build momentum ahead of their rematch... while the Yoshidas seek to shut down the challenge once and for all. Miyako Kita will not be the official for any of these matches after the controversy... but who will step in if not Proving Ground's tag specialist? Two teams looking to regain some serious momentum square off here, with La Familia looking to be the next team in line after White Hot's rematch... while Adrenaline Rush aim to put the pieces together and finally become one of Proving Ground's best. This one's gonna be wild. Ziggy Rockefeller's official debut was a rough one against Nick MacLeod... and here against Arthur Wright, there's the potential for more disaster, given Arthur's recent destruction of Xiu Mei Li. But from what we've seen of Ziggy so far, he's more than capable of holding his own... and this match will probably be a hell of a fight. Keiko Maeda and Naoko Yoshida: two women that are uniquely talented in the field of legwork. Keiko's skills lie primarily in a single hold, the Maeda Family Special, while Naoko's repertoire is more well-rounded... this will almost certainly be a tactical, but vicious, brawl. Newly-crowned Inspire Champion Gabriela Gallego will team up with her brother in her first match post-Sky's the Limit, as the Gallego Twins take on the vicious Pride of Scotland. Leona Sterling and Nick MacLeod will make this a fight to remember, and Leona could be more than eager to get a measure of revenge over Gabriela for taking the championship match. Capping off the night could be one of the Inspire division's most spectacular matches in recent memory. Anahera has been forced to run solo for the foreseeable future, and so she'll set her sights on the Inspire Championship... but standing in her way is none other than one of Proving Ground's top talents in SATOMI. This could be one of the hardest-hitting matches Proving Ground will ever witness... but who will come out ahead? Also happening this upcoming week: American Frontier Wrestling, with a long-anticipated matchup for the main event. American Frontier Wrestling Episode 9 Lexi Dawson vs. Maya Minh Sai
Jackson Shaw vs. Johnny Rocket
Nana Yoon vs. Sung Moon
Dominic Stanton and Laura Tate vs. Wanted: DOA
Carmen Latour vs. Riley Montgomery
Ian Robinson vs. Georgia Eagles
Manny Ramos vs. Ryan Donovan
The Marshall Sisters vs. Allison Avery and Mason Hayes
Nathan Haines vs. Lance Marshall for the Spirit of Texas Championship Lexi Dawson's first match after her Academy graduation will be one hell of a test, as she steps into the ring against the Cornerstone... Maya Minh Sai isn't likely to be pleased that the Academy Champion has decided to make AFW her new home, and expect the arrogant young rookie to put Lexi through her paces. Johnny Rocket continues to be a standout in AFW, despite being just short of the top of the heap. Here against Jackson Shaw, it's going to be quite the test, even for the veteran high-flyer... but can Jackson keep pace with the hometown hero? Nana Yoon's debut match in AFW will be against familiar fare. Sung Moon spent some time in the Academy herself, and it'll be quite the sight to see the two Koreans squaring off, both a far cry from their early Academy days. AFW is looking to determine who will challenge Nathan Haines and Ryan Donovan next for the AFW Tag Team Championships... the first two teams vying for that opportunity will be the duo of Dominic Stanton and Laura Tate taking on Wanted: DOA. The winner of this match goes on to next month's show to face the winner of the other tag match later in the night... Carmen Latour and Riley Montgomery have faced each other twice before: once on the inaugural AFW show, which Riley won, and again the next month on episode 2, which Carmen won. They'll get a chance to settle the score, finally, and could start making a case for a shot at the Spirit of Texas Championship with a win... Powerhouses clash as Ian Robinson takes on Georgia Eagles. There isn't much more one can say about this one: this will be a match of pure, raw strength, and is almost certainly going to be a match that represents everything that AFW stands for. With Ryan Donovan's tag partner busy in the main event, he'll step into the ring with the spectacular Manny Ramos, a man that earned some major respect after his recent match with Lance Marshall. Ramos will be aiming to pick up a big win here, and beating one-half of the tag champions would be a definite step up. The other tag match on the night will see the Marshall Sisters, taken down by the tag champions at Sky's the Limit, trying to fight their way back to a rematch. Standing in their way will be the Lariat Queen of Little Rock, alongside new partner Mason Hayes... this'll be one of the vicious brawls that AFW loves so very much. Finally: Nathan Haines has the biggest match of his career, stepping in against Lance Marshall for the Spirit of Texas Championship. Haines already holds a victory over Lance... the first man ever to score a pinfall on the champion in an AFW ring, and perhaps the greatest threat to Lance's championship reign. Can Nathan finally prove himself as the better man and become the first person ever to knock Lance off of the top spot?

Proving Ground comes and goes, and with it, a whole lot of action. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/1085120114Youtube: youtu.be/DrAtot_QlRQQuick Results Jessika Boom def. Felice Santana Winter Fresh def. The Excellent Blades Aria Kintelas def. Amber Wright Shiori Yoshida def. Rei Hasegawa La Familia def. Adrenaline Rush Ziggy Rockefeller def. Arthur Wright Keiko Maeda def. Naoko Yoshida The Pride of Scotland def. The Gallego Twins SATOMI def. Anahera Bonus: La Corsaria def. Katherine White Write-ups Jessika was a step ahead from the start, with Felice never quite bringing the full force of her offense to bear. The Dynamite Cutter didn't get the win here, but a bow and arrow from Boom would seal the submission victory, opening the night on a wildly fast-paced matchup. Fresh Suzuki continues to be one of Proving Ground's most deceptively dangerous wrestlers. With Winter Fresh backed into a corner, Fresh seized the biggest opportunity she could find, snapping up Donna Nobel into a sharp flash pin, and picked up the win for her team, keeping Winter Fresh firmly near the top of the tag division. This was pure, utter dominance by Aria Kintelas. Scoring a win this thorough over a former Inspire Champion will do a lot for Aria's stock in the division, as she crushed Amber with powerbombs and brutal Spears, one last spear finishing the job and giving Aria one of the easiest wins of the night. Rei Hasegawa just couldn't keep pace with the armwork expert of the Yoshida Twins. Shiori stayed ahead of this one for the duration, and fought off a comeback attempt by catching Rei in a flying armbar, sealing a win for the Yoshidas on the night. The former Proving Ground tag champs were on top of their game here, as La Familia took control and never really let up for a second, Chico scoring the win off of a spectacular 450 Splash. Quick and easy as tag matches go, and La Familia might be making their case to be the next challengers in line. This is what we've been waiting to see from Ziggy Rockefeller. Maybe the match of the night, he went in hard against Arthur Wright, the two tearing into each other before Ziggy landed back-to-back facebusters to score the win in impressive fashion. A big win for the new guy in town. This was a rough, drawn-out brawl, seeing Keiko Maeda fighting for every inch of ground against Naoko Yoshida... and just as it seemed like Naoko's laser-focus on getting a submission would finish the job, Keiko snapped her up in a roll-up and escaped with the victory, setting the stage for their tag title rematch in two weeks. The Pride of Scotland didn't care that the new Inspire Champion was across the ring from them: Leona and Nick were on a mission, looking to make a statement victory. And while Leona wouldn't quite get the outcome she wanted most, they still picked up the win on the back of Nick's brutal power offense, along with Leona's strikes, neutralizing the Gallegos' speed. And in addition, La Corsaria accompanied them with a brand-new look... Perhaps a star-making moment for SATOMI, picking up a win over a long-time veteran in Anahera. Maybe the hardest-hitting match of the night, with neither woman backing down, but SATOMI ultimately took control, locking in the Tachibana Special and scoring a submission victory. We got our first look at the new and improved La Corsaria, and there was a lot to see. The look alone wasn't the only change... she's more vicious, more dangerous, and her arsenal of moves has been expanded in a big way. But it was a familiar one that got the win here: a Shining Axe Kick that put Katherine White away. The Pride of Scotland might be looking to become the dominant force on Proving Ground.

Another round for AFW down, and there was plenty of solid action. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/1088209347Youtube: youtu.be/X-tri6F7AgwQuick Results Maya Minh Sai def. Lexi Dawson Jackson Shaw def. Johnny Rocket Nana Yoon def. Sung Moon Dominic Stanton and Laura Tate def. Wanted: DOA Carmen Latour def. Riley Montgomery Georgia Eagles def. Ian Robinson Ryan Donovan def. Manny Ramos The Marshall Sisters def. Allison Avery and Mason Hayes Lance Marshall def. Nathan Haines to retain the Spirit of Texas Championship Bonus: Kylie Anderson def. Tomiko Takeda Write-ups If there were any worries about Lexi Dawson having trouble adjusting to the AFW environment, this match likely took care of that. She held her own more than well enough against Maya Minh Sai, and her main reason for losing this match was that she got too eager and taunted Maya too much, resulting in her getting caught in an armlock for the submission. Jackson Shaw was apparently in no mood tonight, making this match one of the shortest and least competitive of the night. Little to say about this one. Nana Yoon went from the upper echelons of the Academy to instantly making a splash in AFW. Facing off against fellow Academy graduate Sung Moon, the two put on one hell of a match, and Nana would take the upper hand and lock in her signature submission to pick up the victory, and start off her AFW run with a bang. This was a match full of teamwork, but it would be Laura Tate's raw power that ultimately pushed her team ahead, delivering a brutal ripcord chokeslam that gave her team the victory, and one step away from an AFW Tag Team Championship match. The rubber match between these two, months in the making... and Carmen Latour brought this one to a vicious end, setting up Riley Montgomery in the corner and coming off with her flying Rider Kick, connecting with the back of Riley's head and knocking the West Virginia brawler out cold. There's no doubt in anyone's mind right now that Carmen just might be a front-runner to be the next Spirit of Texas challenger with this showing. This was a hoss-match and a half, with Ian Robinson controlling the early goings... and then, Georgia Eagles turned up the dial and never let up, the latter part of the match proving to be all hers, as she delivered one of the most brutal finishing sequences AFW's seen yet, wrapping it up with a brutal spear to seal the victory. A close, hard-fought match nearly saw Ramos put away one-half of the AFW tag champs... but Ryan Donovan stayed in the fight long enough to deliver a brutal spinning kick that took Ramos down, serving as a reminder of how dangerous Donovan is even without the backing of a partner. A wild, chaotic tag team brawl between two teams that clearly have a lot of enmity towards each other... Terra did much of the heavy lifting for her team, but Cassandra Marshall would strike the decisive blow, taking down Allison Avery and locking in her brutal Cloverleaf variation to score the win and set the Marshall Sisters on a collision course with Dominic and Laura, for the right to challenge for the tag titles... a rematch the Marshalls would love to claim. When the Spirit of Texas Championship is on the line, Lance Marshall might be a completely different man. Far from the man who struggled against Nathan Haines last month, this was a motivated, efficient Texan... the first sign of which was a Demonkiller that landed in the center of the ring, and Lance would ultimately defend his title with back-to-back Cattle Drives, avenging his loss and staying firmly on top once again. One last bonus match from Valkyrie Pro, and it was a brutal lady-hoss brawl between Tomiko Takeda and Kylie Anderson. Tomiko quickly jumped out in front, busting Kylie open and delivering her brand of vicious offense... but Kylie battled back, fighting her way back into the match slowly but surely, and finally went on a run that culminated in her hitting her Bombshell powerbomb finisher to complete the comeback victory. Lance Marshall "When I go out there on any given night... maybe I ain't 100%. Maybe I'm not always aware of it, but when I'm just out there for any old match, maybe in the back of my mind I ain't puttin' everything I could into it. Is that a bad thing? Probably, sure. But at the same time... when I'm puttin' this prize on the line, when I'm fightin' to defend my title... there ain't a man or woman alive who can match me. When I'm defendin' my spot at the top, there's no one, no one better than I am. You can try and prove otherwise all ya' want. But the only way to do that is beat me and take this title from my hands. You come after this title, you better be at your best. You better bring absolutely everything you've got. Because if you don't... I will. And I'll be damn sure to put you down and remind the world why I got this spot. It ain't because I'm the boss. It ain't because I'm in charge around here. It's because I'm the best there is in AFW.
And I dare ya' to prove me wrong."

Showdown back in action on Monday, as we experience some of the fallout from Sky's the Limit... and determine who will be next in line to challenge for the World Championship. Showdown Episode 82 Ruthless Nicole Alger vs. Kyle Anderson
Markos Andreas vs. Silver Hawk
Telan Kintelas vs. Hugo Dirksen vs. Victor Kintelas vs. Mascara Avispa
Candace Monroe vs. Kaelara Sentarl
Angel Leblanc vs. Sophia Moretti
The Malevolent Triad (Oscuro/Selisha) vs. The Heyward Sisters
Yuki Maeda vs. Kanjirin Tonorian, #1 Contender's match for the World Championship
Natasha Clover vs. Haruka Matsura for the Pacific Northwest Championship
Les Beautes Blondes (Celine/Michelle/Revon) vs. The Golden Ambush for the Phoenix Rising Trios Championships Kicking off the night, part of a wild night mainly focused around the chaos of the Pacific Northwest division: Ruthless Nicole Alger seeks to have a breakout moment in singles action against Kyle Anderson. Five Star Kyle, however, is a tough one for anyone to bring down... and RNA will have her hands full, no doubt. There isn't a whole lot that needs to be said about this one: Markos Andreas and Silver Hawk are both very, very solid competitors in the division, and the winner will absolutely have earned it. Silver Hawk is likely the favorite here, however, thanks to his remarkable record as of late. Pacific Northwest action just keeps rolling along, with a wild 4-way matchup that pits four of the best in the division against each other, each looking to raise their stock and make their way towards the championship. Everyone here is dangerous in their own right... Telan's raw power, Hugo's armwork and vicious suplexes, Victor's well-rounded attack and devastating cutter, and Mascara Avispa's speed and agility will make this one hell of a ride. A pair of tune-up matches for the upcoming Phoenix Rising World Cup... first, seeing Australia's Candace Monroe getting a warmup match against the American representative, Kaelara Sentarl. Expect both women to fight hard here, looking for a big win ahead of the tournament... Angel Leblanc has some serious history with the Italian, Sophia Moretti. Years ago, they were part of the dangerous trio that was the Leblanc Syndicate... before Haruka Matsura joined with Sophia to kick Angel to the curb. Now the two meet once again, both looking for some momentum ahead of the World Cup... A match that could perhaps lead to a shot at the current tag team champions, Firehawk and Kileas... the Malevolent Triad will field Selisha and Fenix Oscuro while Haruka defends the Pacific Northwest Championship, as they square off with the Heyward Sisters. Which team will come out on top? These two have not just been at each others' throats since the collapse of Vindication... they're also both undefeated since their respective victories over World Champion Eri Sentarl. But only one of them will be given a shot against the Little Phoenix... can Yuki Maeda keep up her electric run on the heels of a victory over the Black Dragon? Or will Kanjirin's overwhelming power prove decisive? Natasha Clover is back in the hunt once again. Determined to reclaim the title she still insists is hers by right, she'll step into the ring with Haruka Matsura, looking to sweep the ninja aside and finally take her place on top of the Pacific Northwest division for a fourth time. Capping off the night, a colossal Trios Championship match sees the Golden Ambush in their first defense of the titles... and across the ring, a very, very rough trio of opponents, representing Les Beautes Blondes. With Angel preparing for the World Cup (Celine being a part of it as well), LBB will field Celine, Michelle Rochefort and Revon Beauregard as they look to bring the titles into the grasp of the French.

An intense night of action that saw plenty of people get the momentum they sought going into the upcoming World Cup... Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/1092201288Youtube: deleted due to video blocking, sorry! Quick Results Kyle Anderson def. Ruthless Nicole Alger Silver Hawk def. Markos Andreas Mascara Avispa def. Telan Kintelas, Victor Kintelas and Hugo Dirksen Kaelara Sentarl def. Candace Monroe Sophia Moretti def. Angel Leblanc The Heyward Sisters def. The Malevolent Triad Kanjirin Tonorian def. Yuki Maeda Haruka Matsura def. Natasha Clover to retain the Pacific Northwest Championship The Golden Ambush def. Les Beautes Blondes to retain the Phoenix Rising Trios Championships Bonus: Mallory Spaulding def. Kroll Write-ups Kyle Anderson didn't have any desire to live up to his workrate reputation, clearly more interested in getting the win tonight as he plowed straight through RNA, putting on one of the most dominant matches of the night. Two Baltimore Bombs put this one away, and Kyle rises back up the ranks once more. Silver Hawk's recent run of success in both Phoenix Rising and outside of it has been well-documented at this point... and he kept up that intense run here, picking up a major victory over Markos Andreas, setting him up close to the top of the Pacific Northwest division... right behind tag partner Kaelara Sentarl. Mascara Avispa had absolutely no interest in leaving this match without the victory, and to ensure he got it, he broke out a brand-new submission, forcing Hugo Dirksen to tap out, then seized an opportunity to land a run-up moonsault on Telan Kintelas, which set the stage for him to complete the sweep as he rolled up Victor Kintelas for the win. The match time here is deceptive... Kaelara Sentarl controlled essentially this entire match, with Candace struggling to get any offense going. Kae simply dominated, though it took her some time to finally put it away and get the win. A battle with quite the history behind it... and Sophia Moretti turned back the clock to remind Angel just why she turned her back. This was one of the most fiercely-competitive matches of the night, but Sophia ultimately came out ahead with the Binding Suplex, or "Phoenix Rising Special" as it's been known for some time. The Heyward Sisters continue to be one of the more dangerous teams on Showdown, and they absolutely put that on display against the Triad, with Anari's size and strength ultimately finishing the job as she used both to pin Selisha beneath her, reminding the crowd that she's the #1 seed in the World Cup for a reason. Two weeks removed from putting Shiana Sentarl on the shelf, Kanjirin Tonorian would do the same to Yuki Maeda, wiping out Vindication single-handedly. This seemed to never be in doubt: is there anything that can stop Pure Gold? Anyone that can stop the momentum of Kanjirin as he sets his sights on the Little Phoenix and the World Championship? A truly intense brawl that saw Natasha fight with everything she had in an effort to reclaim the title she's seen as being hers and hers alone for so long... but Haruka Matsura, steadily proving herself as a deceptive and dangerous opponent, would defend the championship once again in her usual fashion, forcing Natasha to submit. The Golden Ambush will not be denied. After scoring the victory over the Foundation to win the Trios Championships, they found themselves pitted against Les Beautes Blondes, and they absolutely rose to the challenge. Faced with the more veteran team, the Ambush held their ground, and Golden Tigress would ultimately score big with a Superkick and standing SSP on Celine Chevalier, retaining the titles and setting them up for an appearance next month at Evergreen... One final extra match took place, seeing Mallory Spaulding, eager to get in the ring after Kanjirin's success, squaring off with Valkyrie Pro wrestler Kroll. This wound up as one of the best matches of the night, with these two powerhouses throwing everything they had at each other until Mallory managed to score a brutal backdrop and get the pinfall. Kanjirin Tonorian "Do you get it yet? Do you finally understand it? Vindication never stood a chance in hell. Old, washed-up veterans that have no business hanging around at this stage of their careers... so I'll help you along to where you belong. Best if you two just call it done, after I damn near broke you in half. And that's the same damn thing that's gonna happen to the Little Phoenix. Eri Sentarl, your little 'miracle' run is over. You don't have a shred of what it takes to beat me, and I swear, I will break you the same way I broke Vindication. Enjoy your last couple of weeks with that World Championship belt, because when I step into that ring across from you, I'm going to leave the Little Phoenix down and out... and you're NOT gonna rise again this time."

World Cup UpdateWith Sanya Markov currently now holding the Top Prospect Championship, a mutual agreement was reached that will see Sanya withdrawing from the bracket. His spot will now be filled by Valkyrie Pro's Priya Mallaya, representing India. The Grand Ascension in October will keep the same general guidelines: any currently reigning singles champions will not be taking part, and in addition, this year's Ascension will be made up entirely of people who have not participated in the prior two Ascensions (Save for Todd Colton, who's been given the first locked-in spot for the league.) For the current World Cup bracket: challonge.com/pmvfooikPredictions are open for the next two weeks until the tournament begins, Monday, August 2.

We got one more week of action before the upcoming Phoenix Rising World Cup, starting with Proving Ground tomorrow night, followed up by Evergreen on Thursday, following the first night of Lariats and Legislators (maybe not immediately after, but it will follow that show, regardless. :P) As has been mentioned before, the bracket for the World Cup next week can be found right here: challonge.com/pmvfooik Predictions are open and accepted up until showtime next Monday.Rumor has it that Evergreen is lining up something big for this month's show as there's no championship matches taking place... the long-rumored appearance by none other than Shogun seems imminent after weeks of speculation. But first! Proving Ground! Proving Ground Episode 83 Colt Whitfield vs. Leon Jaskulski
Donna Nobel vs. Amber Wright
Winter Fresh vs. La Familia
Rafael Gallego vs. Ziggy Rockefeller
Christina Wagner vs. Nicole Blade
Jessika Boom vs. Aria Kintelas vs. SATOMI, #1 Contender's Match for the Inspire Championship
Nick MacLeod vs. Golden Tiger
Anna Bryant vs. Mercedes Ortega
White Hot vs. The Yoshida Twins for the Proving Ground Tag Team Championships Kicking off this week's show will be two of Proving Ground's top rookie talents, with Colt Whitfield looking to equal his tag team partner's efforts against the Polish Badger, Leon Jaskulski. Leon, meanwhile, will aim to bounce back from that very same defeat to Harley Brooks by taking down Colt, with this match potentially carrying some major stakes as we begin the build to the Grand Ascension in October... The Excellent Blades are flying solo this week, starting things off with Donna Nobel squaring off with former Inspire Champion Amber Wright. Amber's always a tough opponent for anyone across the ring from her, but Donna's been upping her game as of late... and this could be an early highlight of the night. Proving Ground is barely waiting to see who will come out of this week's main event as the tag team champions, already seeking to determine the next contenders for said titles. The front-runners right now will square off, and the likely scenario right now would see the winner of this match take on the Pride of Scotland in a proper #1 contender's match. Ziggy Rockefeller is looking to make a proper splash now that he's gotten a Proving Ground win under his belt, and a win over Rafael Gallego would certainly be a message to the rest of the roster that Ziggy's arrived. But Rafael is a seriously tough contender, and won't be easy to get through... Ziggy's gonna have to be at his best here. The other half of the Excellent Blades faces off against a fellow powerhouse in Christina Wagner, and there's not much more to say about that. These two are going to fight to show their raw power, and Nicole will once again seek to re-affirm herself as the strongest woman on the Proving Ground roster. A three-way contest that will determine who Gabriela Gallego's first challenger will be... these three women each won their matches at the last Proving Ground, and now, they'll vie to be the next in line to take on the new champion. Jessika's speed and agility, Aria's raw power, and SATOMI's striking and submissions... which will come out on top? And do any of them have what it takes to bring down Gabriela? Nick MacLeod seems to have his eye on the Top Prospect Championship... and what better way to prove he's ready to take on Sanya Markov than by equaling Sanya's win over Golden Tiger, the former champion? MacLeod has no worries about charging into an attempt at singles glory: with the Pride of Scotland fighting as a trio, it's easy to see Leona Sterling and La Corsaria stepping up as the tag team against the winners of Winter Fresh vs. La Familia. Anna Bryant has no intention of lying low after losing the Inspire Championship to Gabriela Gallego at Sky's the Limit. It's possible she shoots for a rematch to try and reclaim that title... but if she goes on enough of a run, she could find herself earning one of the Inspire Division's spots in the Grand Ascension instead... Finally, a rematch from Sky's the Limit after the original match wound up mired in controversy... with junior referee Miyako Kita catching some heat for the way the match went down, she'll be withdrawn from her usual position as Proving Ground's tag team specialist for this championship match, with Showdown's tag specialist referee Miss Shine stepping in to take over officiating duties. This is it: White Hot's last chance, for the time being, to take down the arrogant Yoshida Twins... can they come back and win this rematch, or will the Yoshidas once again walk away the eternally-smug champions?

Just one more show to go before the World Cup gets rolling. Aw yeah. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/1099366988Youtube: youtu.be/qJHJbU1L97QQuick Results Leon Jaskulski def. Colt Whitfield Donna Nobel def. Amber Wright La Familia def. Winter Fresh Rafael Gallego def. Ziggy Rockefeller Nicole Blade def. Christina Wagner Jessika Boom def. Aria Kintelas and SATOMI Nick MacLeod def. Golden Tiger Mercedes Ortega def. Anna Bryant The Yoshida Twins def. White Hot to retain the Proving Ground Tag Team Championships Bonus: Tina Remington def. La Corsaria Write-ups Leon Jaskulski came roaring out of the gate and never let up, dominating the opener over Colt Whitfield and forcing a brutal submission from the Camel Clutch. A strong win after his recent loss to Harley Brooks. As much as Amber tried to keep up, Donna Nobel was dominant here, cutting off an attempted comeback by nearly taking Amber's head off with a vicious knee, scoring the win and making it clear that Donna's upped her game... and the Inspire division, not to mention the tag division, had both better watch out. A spectacular match as expected between two of Proving Ground's best teams, but La Familia came out ahead in the end, despite some incredible teamwork from Winter Fresh... however, a late mistake from Rin caused everything to fall apart, and Chico Con Carne would pick up the win, setting up a clash between La Familia and the Pride of Scotland next episode. Fiercely contested right to the end, but Rafael proved just that bit more resilient even as this one got wild, with both men brawling on the outside before Rafael managed to land a Fenix Dive to score the victory. A very impressive showing from both men here, but Rafael comes out ahead. Pure, utter dominance from the other half of the Excellent Blades... Nicole was in no mood to let Christina Wagner stand in her way, and she absolutely crushed Wagner here. There's not much else to be said. Against the odds, Jessika Boom overcame. Aria was the first to fall here as the other two seemingly ganged up on her, and fell victim to a SATOMI Driver, but Jessika didn't worry about being in the ring with a former champion and stayed focused... landing a Super Dynamite Cutter from the top rope, and scoring the unlikely victory to set herself up with an Inspire Championship match against Gabriela Gallego. Seemingly the only reason Golden Tiger was able to make this competitive in the end was that Nick was toying with him... and the moment it looked like Tiger might be able to fight back into it, Nick wrenched him into a Torture Rack and halted any ideas about the comeback happening. The early part of this match was horrific for Anna Bryant, as Mercedes came out more aggressive than perhaps ever before... and while she eased up a little later on, Anna still had an uphill battle, one she very nearly managed to overcome before Mercedes cut it off with a facebuster, rolling Anna up to finish the match. No controversies, no arguments... the Yoshidas have won again, retaining their titles yet again to the dismay of some. Once again Naoko proves herself capable of snatching victory at a moment's notice, rolling into the kneebreaker that's quickly becoming the only way she ever seems to win, anymore. One final bonus match capped off the night, and what a match it was, seeing Tina Remington fighting a seriously uphill battle against La Corsaria. Busted wide open when Corsaria blasted her with her boot, Tina showed tremendous spirit in hanging on the rest of the match, refusing to quit and eventually cinching in a brutal armbar that forced Corsaria to tap out. Tina's proving to be downright heroic when it comes to comebacks, it would seem.

Thursday night, it's Evergreen once again, and the last show before the beginning of the World Cup. Evergreen Federation Wrestling Episode 47 Skidmark vs. Iris Coleman
Sayaka Saito vs. El Evergringo
Crimson Romance vs. Sabrina and KyO
Concrete Pete vs. Julian Shepard
Rebecca Andrews vs. Eternamente Verde
Babe Ruthless vs. Veronika Armstrong
The Sheridan Brothers + ??? vs. eMo (Sookie/Eddy/Penelope)
Freya O'Malley vs. Tasharun
Shogun (Sakura Pro) vs. Logan Axelrod Kicking off the night is a wild one, with Iris Coleman facing down maybe the toughest challenge she's been put up against thus far. Skidmark's not someone to mess around with... and god knows Iris is going to have to dig deep to have a hope of winning this one. Oakland's Most Metal finds themselves in a pair of singles matches against El Verde, with Sayaka Saito taking the first shot against El Evergringo. Sayaka's proven to be one of her group's toughest names... and no doubt she'll make things tough for Evergringo in this one. Crimson Romance is back in action once again, in one of eMo's two matches on the night. Across from the ring: the abrasive duo of Sabrina and KyO, who have quickly established themselves as a team to be feared. Do Luci and Chasity have what it takes to neutralize the constant underhanded tactics from their opponents? Concrete Pete will also step into the ring solo, much like his tag partner, and he'll face someone who's staring down just as much of a size mismatch. Julian Shepard, though, is a former Evergreen Champion, and can't be overlooked here, even against a powerhouse like Pete. Rebecca Andrews might be looking for a breakout moment as she takes on Eternamente Verde... a match against a former Evergreen Champion and Evergreen Tag Team Champion, and one of the most violent women in Evergreen... we'll see if Rebecca can rise to the challenge. Veronika Armstrong will be the last of her trio to step into the ring this time around, and rather than a member of El Verde, she'll be squaring off with Babe Ruthless in a match that's almost certain to deliver the pain. Can Veronika get back on track and surge towards the top of Evergreen once again? Those question marks have never felt more ominous. The founding members of eMo will find themselves in trios action against the Sheridan brothers... and someone else that the Sheridans have quite simply refused to even hint at. All we can be sure of: #1, the winner of this match will face the Golden Ambush at next month's Evergreen. And #2: whoever it is that the Sheridans have enlisted as their third man, we know that nobody... nobody is going to like what they see. Freya O'Malley was close to a shot at the Evergreen Championship before coming up short against Jennifer Hunter, who wound up becoming Evergreen Champion at Sky's the Limit. Now Freya stares down a threat that Jennifer was forced to overcome in the process... but while Hunter lost to Tasharun one-on-one before winning the three-way championship match, Freya clearly intends to beat the demon and remind the world of just how dangerous she really is. Capping off the night: we've long-awaited this one, and Shogun will finally arrive in Evergreen for a blockbuster main event, taking on Logan Axelrod in what's certain to be an all-out brawl to the finish. How will Shogun adapt to the hardcore landscape? Probably pretty damn well, considering.

A wild night of action from across the Critical Continuum capped off with Evergreen at the end of the night, and while it was the "least" important show of the night, it still didn't let up for action. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/1102494946Youtube: youtu.be/6cQdl3ASlp0Quick Results Skidmark def. Iris Coleman El Evergringo def. Sayaka Saito Crimson Romance def. Sabrina and KyO Concrete Pete def. Julian Shepard Rebecca Andrews def. Eternamente Verde Veronika Armstrong def. Babe Ruthless eMo (Sookie/Eddy/Penelope) def. The Sheridan Brothers and Rex Burning Freya O'Malley def. Tasharun Shogun def. Logan Axelrod Bonus: Kroll and Kantar def. Kelly Wolfe and Victoria Fox Write-ups Iris Coleman held out as much as she could against the much bigger Skidmark, but the big man would eventually take the upper hand and land a surprisingly spectacular finish to score the victory, on a night that proved very solid for the Big Boys. This was maybe one of the most impressive matches Evergringo has ever had in his career, outpacing Sayaka Saito without much hesitation. Surprisingly, it took a quick roll-up counter to finish this rather than Evergringo winning off of his offense, but nonetheless, this was a very strong win. Crimson Romance is very quickly coming into their own as a team, and they were firing on all cylinders against Sabrina and KyO here, who proved unusually dysfunctional tonight. Luci neutralized KyO's interference while Chasity locked in a brutal submission on Sabrina, picking up the victory. Pete roared out to an early lead here, but a bloodied Julian Shepard battled back to make this one wildly competitive and probably one of the best matches of the night. Still, Pete eventually landed back-to-back Cement Mixers and finished the job with a vicious piledriver to take the win, but we're seeing flashes of the champion Julian once again. Rebecca Andrews was a pure dynamo in this match, overwhelming Eternamente Verde and scoring the victory with a Superman Punch. Simple and to the point, Rebecca looks very, very solid out of nowhere. Just as it looked like this match was starting to really take off, Veronika Armstrong landed the Mercykiller and absolutely wiped out Babe Ruthless, bringing a swift and brutal end to this match. While Veronika's not going to be in the Grand Ascension this year since she's already participated, this could be a catalyst that gives her a run at the top of Evergreen once again. The Sheridans may never be forgiven for this. They kept their partner a secret right up until he was revealed as Blackrose's Rex Burning. Reports state that most people were very much not happy about this, but after this match the Sheridans were overheard saying "I don't give a shit, this is how it's gonna be". Thankfully they lost because of Eddy Introspect's instincts and clutch talents, and so we don't have to deal with the horrific concept of a Sheridans/Burning trio challenging for a Phoenix Rising championship. The Giant-Killer has once again lived up to her name in taking down yet another colossal foe in Tasharun. It seems like the bigger an opponent is, the better a chance Freya's got... and she absolutely took charge here, brawling with the demon outside, and ultimately, hitting a Lionsault to score the pinfall. Shogun had already had a bit of a rough night earlier across the country at Lariats and Legislators, and he came into Evergreen still a bit rattled... and then the bell rang and one could be forgiven for completely forgetting what happened against the Destructive Duo. This was an all-out war, and while it ended somewhat quickly, Shogun was on top of his game, ultimately putting Logan Axelrod away with the Will of One. One final bonus match took place, and it sported the return of Fox and Wolfe... along with the Evergreen debut of Kroll, who arrived alongside Kantar. It would seem the Roaring Devil has possibly signed with Evergreen, and no doubt she'll throw her lot in with Kantar and Tasharun immediately... and if this match is any indication, the division should be very, very afraid, as she landed a Devil Destroyer to pick up the win. Freya O'Malley "I've been thinking a lot lately, about what I should be doing with myself. I could easily find my way into the Grand Ascension, if I really pushed for it. I'm sure they'd want me out there. I'm sure I could win the whole damn thing and challenge for the World Championship, but I don't know if I could guarantee it 100%. That said... I have another option. Another choice for my future. Forget about the Grand Ascension and focus my efforts back home. Right here in Evergreen, and the Evergreen Championship. Jennifer Hunter's one of the few people I've faced that beat me and I haven't gotten a win back. And you know what? I'd really, really like to change that.
I don't know what the future holds right now. I don't know who Mercy's thinking should be the challenger next month. But I know damn well that I'm gonna fight to be at the front of the line.
I can't rule out the Ascension. Not yet. But right now... well, there's two doors open in front of me... and I'll make my choice soon enough."

Tomorrow night, the long-awaited start of the Phoenix Rising World Cup... the two-night tournament kicks off tomorrow and concludes on Thursday. The tournament bracket can be found here: challonge.com/pmvfooikPhoenix Rising World Cup Night 1
Anari Lynn Heyward (England) vs. Celine Chevalier (France)
Hugo Dirksen (The Netherlands) vs. Leona Sterling (Scotland)
Sophia Moretti (Italy) vs. Angela Rothenberg (Germany)
Priya Mallaya (India) vs. Kaelara Sentarl (USA)
Bonus buffer match with two special guests!
Blake Dynamite (Canada) vs. Angel Leblanc (Monaco)
Keiko Maeda (Japan) vs. Candace Monroe (Australia)
Layla Al-Amin (Egypt) vs. Anahera (New Zealand)
Fenix Oscuro (Mexico) vs. Calista Vargas (Brazil) We go down the bracket from top to bottom, which means we start things off with the #1 seed, Anari Lynn Heyward, taking on Celine Chevalier... a battle of England vs. France, and while Celine will certainly have her supporters, it does feel like Anari's match to lose... the Premiere Powerhouse is expected to cruise to an easy win, but Celine could shock the world. Leona Sterling is ready to roll despite a rough defeat at last week's UCSS event, in a match that saw her easily dispatched by champion Hakim Fields. This is almost certainly guaranteed to be more competitive, and indeed after Leona's fierce training regimen as of late, she may very well go up against Hugo with the upper hand... Sophia Moretti's run in Phoenix Rising has been a rough one for a long time. But the Italian is looking for pure redemption in this tournament, starting with what she hopes will be a victory over the rookie and late addition to the bracket, Angela Rothenberg. The young German got her spot in the bracket after original competitor Alexandria Kirison withdrew, citing her recent World Championship match as the reason... can Angela prove herself on the biggest stage she's ever been on? Kaelara Sentarl is almost certainly breathing slightly easier about this match over what she was originally slated to face: Top Prospect Champion Sanya Markov. But Sanya, too, withdrew from the tournament after reclaiming his title from Golden Tiger, leading Priya Mallaya to take his place. Kae can't take this lightly, however... Priya's proven in her few showings that she's absolutely a threat, and could stun Kae if the young Sentarl lets her guard down. An extra match will take place halfway through the card, with the current rumored matchup being between a Wrestle Parade talent and a Valkyrie Pro name. Look forward to this surprise bout. This might be the most intriguing matchup of the night. Angel Leblanc is out to prove she's still a top name in Phoenix Rising, but she's facing off against perhaps the ultimate test in all of Phoenix Rising... Canada's own Blake Dynamite. If there's anyone who's favored to win it all, Blake's the one, but could Angel set the bracket into chaos and pull off a miracle victory? Keiko Maeda might just be the most unlikely competitor in the whole tournament. Winning the spot for Japan over multiple wrestlers who are more experienced than herself, she now has a chance to make a huge impact... but can she hold out against the one woman in Phoenix Rising as skilled at wrecking legs as herself? The spectacular high-flying talent of Layla Al-Amin has carried her far... but here, she's taking on one of the toughest women in all of Phoenix Rising, the Maori Warrior, Anahera. Cut loose without her partner, Anahera has her sights set on the biggest prize imaginable... but can she keep pace with the Cairo Cyclone? Capping off the night, a match that could prove to be one of the wildest matches of the night, as Fenix Oscuro, the unlikely Mexican representative, squares off with Calista Vargas... and here, it's a matter of whether Oscuro can neutralize Calista's most dangerous weapons. A single Stormbreaker could bring this to a vicious end... and Oscuro's hopes of challenging Eri Sentarl for the World Championship, if the Little Phoenix can retain on Thursday night...

We've gotten through the first night of action, and now we've only got a bracket of eight wrestlers remaining: who moved on to the second round? Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/1106541074Youtube: youtu.be/uL4-ubwHYJUQuick Results Anari Lynn Heyward def. Celine Chevalier Leona Sterling def. Hugo Dirksen Sophia Moretti def. Angela Rothenberg Priya Mallaya def. Kaelara Sentarl Bonus: Dhani Faizan def. Tina Remington Angel Leblanc def. Blake Dynamite Candace Monroe def. Keiko Maeda Layla Al-Amin def. Anahera Calista Vargas def. Fenix Oscuro Write-ups In terms of mis-matches, this was probably the only stark one of the night. Anari is going into this tournament as likely the favorite to win it all, and she definitely made sure Celine knew it, neutralizing most of the young Frenchwoman's offense en route to hitting her crushing powerbomb finisher to move on, and score another blow in the long-standing England/France rivalry. Leona Sterling has finally gotten to show her stuff, and she went move-for-move with Hugo Dirksen, showing no hesitation and finally giving us a strong look at how much work she's done to get to this point. It would be her striking that won the day here, as Hugo proved surprisingly tough on the mat, but Leona would score a vicious series of kicks to take the victory. Angela Rothenberg is a recent Academy graduate, but you wouldn't think it from this match, as she absolutely took the fight to veteran Sophia Moretti. But the Italian Monster showed her skills in this one as well, snapping off a Meteora before locking in Eternal Night to secure the submission victory. Priya Mallaya was a late addition to the bracket after Sanya Markov's withdrawal, but she showed up in a big way here against Kaelara Sentarl, not letting Kae bring her biggest moves into play and ultimately putting the young Sentarl to sleep in a devastating hold. A disappointing showing for Kae, but a huge statement by Priya. Once again we get a look at Tina Remington, and this time, you couldn't mistake her for the type to make a heroic comeback, as she was running much more familiarly to her counterpart, Todd Colton. But guest wrestler Dhani Faizan of Wrestle Parade simply was not about to let the Valkyrie Pro star get the better of her, eventually tying Tina up in a nasty, complex submission and forced her to tap out. Blake Dynamite took this match lightly. That was clear for most of this match, and by the time he thought to turn up the pressure, Angel Leblanc was right there to keep pace... and Blake would rather forget how this went, taking the single biggest upset of the night as Angel would hit a vicious driver in the center of the ring. One of the tournament favorites is out in the first round... Keiko Maeda made it clear that her entry into this tournament was no fluke. Squaring off with the somewhat more experienced Candace Monroe, she stood face-to-face with the Australian, and did her best to cut Candace down with the Maeda Family Special... but Candace endured, and eventually hit a pair of Gotch-style piledrivers to score the hard-fought victory. The Cairo Cyclone lived up to her name, going wild in the ring against Anahera, who did everything she could to try and slow Layla down. But Layla had no interest in leaving without the win, and she set up the Shiranui before following it up with her familiar Super Rana, scoring a huge victory and perhaps making herself one of the favorites to take it all. This was Calista's big chance to score a win over a Showdown talent... and perhaps prove herself ready to move to that show. She absolutely rose to the occasion, weathering Oscuro's brutal offense, and after working her Butterfly lock for most of the match, she found her opportunity... landing the Stormbreaker and picking up a colossal victory, sending the young Brazilian into the second round.

Coming up tomorrow night, we conclude the World Cup tournament, along with a couple of extra matches... one of them a colossal World Championship defense that could change the course of Phoenix Rising through the end of the year. Phoenix Rising World Cup Night 2Jackson Shaw and Ian Robinson (AFW) vs. The Big Boys (Evergreen), Evergreen Rules Tag MatchAnari Lynn Heyward vs. Leona SterlingSophia Moretti vs. Priya MallayaAngel Leblanc vs. Candace MonroeLayla Al-Amin vs. Calista Vargas8-Way Battle Royal: Celine Chevalier vs. Hugo Dirksen vs. Angela Rothenberg vs. Kaelara Sentarl vs. Blake Dynamite vs. Keiko Maeda vs. Anahera vs. Fenix OscuroSemifinal Match #1: Anari or Leona vs. Sophia or PriyaSemifinal Match #2: Angel or Candace vs. Layla or CalistaKanjirin Tonorian vs. Eri Sentarl for the Phoenix Rising World ChampionshipWorld Cup Tournament FinalKicking off the night won't be a tournament match, but a sort of exhibition for both Evergreen and AFW, who didn't wind up with a tournament participant. As a result, they've sent a team into the mix, with Evergreen bringing in the Big Boys, Concrete Pete and Skidmark... set to take on AFW's Jackson Shaw and Ian Robinson, Evergreen-style. Expect this to be a fierce opener that sets the stage for the night.
Anari Lynn Heyward had easily the most dominant showing on Monday, wiping out Celine Chevalier with relative ease... and now, she turns her attention onto Leona Sterling in the quarterfinals. Can Anari's raw power carry her to victory over a matwork expert? Or can Leona overcome the colossal gap in power and size to make it into the semifinals?
Sophia Moretti scored a much-needed victory on Monday when she took down rookie Angela Rothenberg, overcoming a size mismatch to force a submission. She'll face another relative newcomer in the quarterfinals in Priya Mallaya, a late additiion to the bracket that nevertheless made an immediate impact when she beat Kaelara Sentarl. Can Sophia keep up her run and remind the world just how dangerous she really is?
Angel Leblanc walked away Monday with the biggest upset of the entire tournament... fighting Blake Dynamite in a marathon, and eventually taking the victory in a shocking moment that fans are still buzzing about. Her opponent in the quarterfinals will be none other than Candace Monroe, who weathered the storm of the Maeda Family Special... and now, Candace has even bigger dreams in her view, looking to take down the Les Beautes Blondes leader and make it into the semifinal.
Closing out the quarterfinals, the Cairo Cyclone, Layla Al-Amin, will step into the ring with the incredible and dynamic Brazilian, Calista Vargas. This one has a strong chance to be a show-stealer, with both women coming off of spectacular victories on Monday... but which high-flyer will score the victory?
Those who failed to make it out of the first round will get one more shot in the ring: these eight wrestlers will go at it one more time in an effort to prove their early tournament exit was no fluke. But which of the eight will come away victorious? And what will it mean for the winner?
The semifinals roll along immediately after, and there's just no telling who might be in line for these matches... who will rise to the occasion? And who will come away to enter the final, and fight for the vaunted shot at the World Championship?
Speaking of the World Championship, this one's the big one. Kanjirin Tonorian has cut a path of destruction through Phoenix Rising over the past few months, taking both Shiana Sentarl and Yuki Maeda out of action, seemingly indefinitely... and now, there's just one more obstacle in his way. The World Champion, Eri Sentarl, has faced down some truly dangerous opponents in her time as champion... but can she finally overcome this challenge, a man she's never been able to defeat before? Or does the miracle reign of the Little Phoenix finally come to an end?
Closing out the night... what else could it be? The tournament finals will finally arrive, and we'll see who made their way to the top... only one person can win this tournament, and we'll end the night by finding out just who it is that stands tall, and will get their shot at the World Champion, an opportunity that will be given on the final night of October's Grand Ascension.

A huge night of action with plenty of shocking moments to be had... and we have a main event match for October's Grand Ascension. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/1109627623Youtube: youtu.be/PJ3Rzs1aneUQuick Results The Big Boys def. Ian Robinson and Jackson Shaw Leona Sterling def. Anari Lynn Heyward Priya Mallaya def. Sophia Moretti Candace Monroe def. Angel Leblanc Calista Vargas def. Layla Al-Amin Hugo Dirksen won the battle royal Leona Sterling def. Priya Mallaya Candace Monroe def. Calista Vargas Kanjirin Tonorian def. Eri Sentarl to become the NEW Phoenix Rising World Champion! Candace Monroe def. Leona Sterling to win the Phoenix Rising World Cup! Write-ups The AFW team seemed slightly out of their element... while the Big Boys were right at home in a match that's every bit their strength. Size and weight were the big factors in play, and it was Skidmark's sheer bulk (while Pete kept Ian Robinson out of the way) that finished this match, giving the Big Boys another big win. The first tournament match of the night jumped straight out as a huge shock. Anari Lynn Heyward, perhaps the favorite to take it all, just couldn't keep pace with Leona Sterling's blistering strikes and matwork, and despite throwing out her usual array of slams and powerbombs, Leona would lay out the Brit with another series of kicks and make her way into the semifinals. Priya Mallaya was almost certainly the youngest competitor in this tournament, but you wouldn't believe it by the way she handled herself against long-time veteran Sophia Moretti. While Priya's usual offense never quite hit its full force, she nevertheless weathered Sophia's suplexes and submissions to land a huge diving chop that leveled Sophia, and gave the young Indian a major victory. As good as Angel Leblanc was against Blake Dynamite on Monday, she ran into a much different problem here against Candace Monroe... the young Australian had absolutely no interest in toying with Angel, and she looked absolutely locked-in all night, zeroed in on her devastating legwork and landing her Stunners on point each time. But against Angel, it was a rare high-risk dive... a wild splash that gave Candace the victory and a spot in the semis. Almost certainly the single greatest match of the night, as these two exceeded expectations with Calista Vargas more than holding her own against the Cairo Cyclone... and ultimately, pulling off a tremendous comeback victory after falling well behind. The Stormbreaker was the game-changer once again... it didn't score the win, but it signaled Calista's roaring comeback, culminating in her locking in her signature Butterfly Lock and getting the victory. Every bit as chaotic as you'd expect a battle royal to be, especially considering there were no over-the-top rules in play here. Eventually, though, the field narrowed... the two most junior competitors being the first out of the mix, with Angela and Celine eliminated, and ultimately leaving only Keiko Maeda, Blake Dynamite, and Hugo Dirksen in the ring. Hugo would then go on to sweep the other two out of the match and pick up a huge victory. With plenty of time to rest between rounds, the semifinals kicked off... and almost as soon as this one got going, Leona took command and absolutely wiped out Priya Mallaya, making it absolutely clear that she wouldn't accept anything less than the tournament final. Quite simply put, Leona was on a mission... a dominant victory, easily the most dominant of the tournament. Candace Monroe didn't exactly dominate her semifinal match. But make no mistake, once she realized what was at stake, and who would be waiting in the finals, there was no way that any other result would be acceptable. She took everything Calista Vargas dished out, and finally landed a vicious Stunner to pick up the win, setting the stage for a massive clash of rivals... the entire tournament at stake. Kanjirin Tonorian has become an absolute monster over the past few months. A dominant winning streak, the destruction of Vindication and now, a complete dismantling of the Little Phoenix... the now-former champion trying to hold her own against the powerhouse only to take a Jackhammer that left her out cold on the mat. It's not yet clear how much time Eri will miss now, but one thing is certain... a new era may have just begun for Phoenix Rising, and Kanjirin Tonorian is now the single most dominant force on Showdown, bar none. This final showdown of old rivals was just as fierce as expected, with neither woman wanting to give an inch... but with the way Candace had been fighting for this whole tournament, the result simply seemed inevitable. Candace, as mentioned, was absolutely locked-in, devastating Leona's legs and taking the upper hand, and never letting go... one final Stunner putting this one to rest, and giving Candace the colossal victory she's been seeking for so long. The young Australian fighter has punched her ticket for the Grand Ascension... and on the final night of that event in October, she will go one-on-one with the new World Champion... The World Champion "There's nothing to say. I've done what I set out to do." Kanjirin Tonorian holds the World Championship over his shoulder, looking like he's hardly broken a sweat. "Pure Gold has crushed Vindication. I've destroyed the Little Phoenix and taken the World Championship... brought it to where it BELONGS, with Pure Gold. And to anyone who wants to whine about poor little Eri being taken out, just like Shiana, just like Yuki... you get in my way, and the same fate is headed your way. I'm at the top... where I belong. And there's not a soul alive that can change that now. To Candace Monroe... you won the tournament, you'll get your shot at me. But you'll break, just like Vindication, just like Eri, just like everyone else that stands in my way." The Tournament Champion "I've been fighting for a win like this... my entire career. Winning the SWA Prestige Championship was big... a huge win that I can't deny felt really damn good. But this... this is closer to home. I just won in a hell of a tournament... representing my home country, showing that I'm capable of pushing myself to a new level, proving that I have what it takes here!" Candace Monroe, standing beside the World Cup trophy, gives a firm nod. "And as for Kanjirin... well. Here's my answer to you, thinkin' I don't have what it takes to stand up to you. You're big, you're bad... but you seem to forget where my strengths are. I'll chop you down, even if I gotta go from the ankles up. And when we meet for that World Championship, I'm gonna prove to the world that there's nobody I can't bring down. You better be ready, big guy. I'll make sure you walk out of our match with a fuckin' LIMP."
