Cowboy (before his match) Cowboy Johnston: Ah gotta say, these here fans, much as ah love all of 'em, they ain't been too kind to my Texan buddy Lance. An' they been downright mean an' dirty regardin' his sister Cassie. Ya know, ah ain't in the business of tellin' the folks how to act or react, but ah gotta say, it just ain't sittin well in my gut when ah think 'bout how stuff's been around here with mah buddy.
Cowboy: But 'nuff 'bout that, ah ain't here in Phoenix Risin' to run mah mouth! Ah'm here to celebrate a big ol' anniversary, an ah'm here to fight! Lance, ah know ya one big pissed off ball of anger! Ya wanna take that out on sumbody, ah'm right here! Give me ya best shot, buddy, an' I'll just have to return the favor! Let's show 'em what sum Western Aces can do in that there ring!
Cowboy (after his match) Cowboy Johnston: Yeah...that was...one hellava sprint there, mah friend! Damn! My neck's gonna be outta sorts for weeks now! Nah, I ain't got no regrets, none at all! Ah came here hopin' to break ya' outta yer funk, an' if that weren't a funkbreaker of a match, ah don't know what is! Now keep doin' that, don't pay heed to anyone tryin' to break ya down, an get back to the top of the heap, Lance!

The anniversary is over, the celebration is done, but what a night it's been. A few candidates for match of the night this time around, a couple of which were simply unreal. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/372187567Youtube: youtu.be/iQotiNJR3aQQuick Results Todd Colton def. Natasha Clover Mallory Spaulding def. Nina Armstrong Kaelara Sentarl def. Hana Brightly Blake Dynamite def. Chris Severla Urani Whitemist def. Drakaina The Rising Storm def. The Doogan Brothers The Black Dragon def. Selene Ciel Eri Sentarl def. Jennifer Phoenix Jessica Shields def. Rilantha De Nav Lance Marshall def. Cowboy Johnston Tasharun def. Machine Gun Mayhem Firehawk Sentarl def. Geese Walker Write-ups A strong showing from both sides here to start the night, with Natasha holding her own despite the size difference, and giving Todd more trouble than anticipated. But he'd pull off the win in the end, cranking on Natasha's arm for a tapout victory. The two Denver powerhouses clashed, and while both showed off everything they're known for, Mallory Spaulding would win the day with her variety of suplexes... but it sure wasn't easy to get Nina Armstrong to that point. A match that came about for a number of reasons: Kae has always looked up to Hana, clear up to using the Rainbow Bridge on many occasions as of late. But she didn't use it at all here, perhaps nervous to use that move against the woman who made it popular. Instead, the Women's Champion would use her own finisher, landing a crushing Kae Buster after a hard-fought match, and picked up the win. Just like always, Blake turned up the pace early, and Severla did what he could to keep up. But Blake would not be denied, even after having the Dynamite Cutter stolen and used on him for the second time in as many nights... the LOTATION, however, wound up being the final blow. A hotly-anticipated matchup wound up being quite the mismatch in the end. Urani seemed to be in no mood to lay down for anyone else after her loss to Oshiro the night before, and the former World Champion plowed through Drakaina, reminding everyone that she is still very much a threat. This could have easily been a main event anywhere. Probably the match of the night, one of the best tag matches Phoenix Rising has ever seen, and the Rising Storm absolutely rose to the challenge that the Doogan brothers posed, despite being at a severe size disadvantage, and giving up a lot of power to the ZIP Japan team. Anahera and Xiu would not give up, though, and it'd be Xiu Mei Li that won the day in the end, delivering dragon screws to both brothers before locking Dougie in her signature STF, and scoring an instant tapout to finish what had been an absolutely chaotic brawl from start to finish. The Phoenix Rising World Champion took on the winner of the 49th Parallel, and the Black Dragon did not hesitate to remind everyone why she is the World Champion to begin with. She was an absolute monster here against Selene Ciel, and it was all the Quebec native could do to keep up with the raw power Dragon brought to bear. Her signature facelock, however, finished the job, and Dragon wins once again in dominant fashion. Eri Sentarl wrestled her match... Although Jennifer Phoenix kept pace for much of the match, Eri finally began to pull out all the stops near the end... culminating in actually lifting Phoenix off her feet for a brief moment in a Falcon Arrow of sorts! She'd follow this up with a seated superkick, and picked up a big win, showing stuff we've never seen from her before. The only Phoenix Rising wrestler to drop their match tonight (much to my dismay), Rilantha De Nav once again couldn't catch up with Jessica Shields, and just like so many times before in Space Mexico, Ril would fall victim to Jessica's tenacity, dropping in a torture rack and eating a huge shoulder block for the finish. There can be no doubt: Lance Marshall was not in the best of moods tonight, and he took Cowboy Johnston's words to heart, coming out with a fire we haven't seen in him since he lost the World Championship. Could this be the spark he needs to get back to the top? This wound up being nothing short of a vicious, brutal war. Machine Gun brought the fight to the Demon like nobody else ever has, showing no hesitation in coming right after Tasharun, showing an unbelievable power moveset that had many wondering if Tasharun could answer back... but he did just that, ducking a big-time kick from Machine Gun, and catching him dead-center of the ring with a chokeslam, escaping with a win... but not without one hell of a struggle to get there. I'm gonna level with everyone here. I was feeling pretty good about this match, and the finish... came out of nowhere. It didn't feel like it should've ended the match, and overall... well, I don't feel this lived up to the match it should've been. I may re-visit this one in the future, and see if I can't figure out what went wrong tonight. But I'm honestly feeling pretty hard on myself for this match. Natasha Clover and Todd Colton Natasha's sitting in the locker room with an ice pack pressed to one arm, sunglasses sitting on the bench beside her, but the usual smirk still playing across her face... as she glances up to see Todd standing in front of her. "Knew you had it in you. To not hold anything back. If you'd shown even a hint of hesitation, I would've knocked your ass out, you know that, right?"
"You say that, but I had you under control the whole time."
"Right, so nearly kicking your head clean off like a certain redhead bitch was all according to plan." Natasha grins, getting to her feet, letting the ice pack drop onto the bench. "I like you, Todd, you're not afraid to say whatever the hell you want... not afraid to do what you want. Kinda like me. A lot of people might find that hard to deal with, but me? Well... you want to know what I really think about you?"
Todd blinks... she appears to have caught him off guard here, but he gives a small nod, almost curious where she's leading. With her good arm, she grabs Todd around the neck, pulls him into a deep, but brief, kiss, before breaking away and grinning at him. "You and me, tag team starting Showdown after next. Also, dinner Friday night? I know a place." She pats him on the chest, scooping up her sunglasses and the ice pack, and leaves the room... leaving Todd standing there alone, mouth still hanging open slightly, not sure what exactly just happened. Lance Marshall "Damn sure needed it... sorry it had t' come at Cowboy's expense, but he's right about one thing. We ain't lookin' to keep dealin' with this shit. I gotta say, though, Cassie's heart is in the right place, but I don't think ya' need to be spreadin' rumors to beat rumors, y'know? Allison and Veronika are good people... but right now, just friends. Ain't thinkin' about pushin' that just yet. Could change in the near future, sure... but when somethin' comes up, you'll be the first t' know. At any rate... there ain't anythin' goin' on between me and my sister. So just let it go." Been a hell of a year since this whole thing started, and I've enjoyed the hell out of it, through the good and the bad. Wouldn't be here without the people who've supported it, and for that, I thank you guys. Here's to another year of enjoying what I do here.

Showdown returns to its proper time next week, having been pushed back by the anniversary show. Schedule normalizes back up as a result going forward. I'll also note that Evergreen episode 4 takes place next Thursday (The 7th), I'll post the card for that after Showdown on Monday. Pre-Show: Sophia Moretti vs. Elise PichonPre-Show: Alexandria Kirison vs. Rachel White Pre-Show: The Phantom Thief vs. Telan Kintelas Cassandra Marshall vs. Laenara Kintelas Firehawk Sentarl and Rilantha De Nav vs. The Rising Storm Natasha Clover vs. Eri Sentarl Binak Tonorian vs. Lance MarshallShiana Sentarl vs. Michelle RochefortTasharun and Kantar vs. Kileas Kintelas and Winifred WrightKaelara Sentarl vs. Angel Leblanc Main Event: The Black Dragon vs. Urani WhitemistSophia Moretti's time in the past year has been... tumultuous. She's struggled to put anything together, she's been backstabbed more times than most would care to admit, and she's been the target of rumors stating that she ought to join the Blackwood Academy and start over. This week, it doesn't look like she'll have it easy, either, as she's taking on Elise Pichon, who's been the most dangerous member of Les Beautes Blondes, without a doubt. Sophia's submission game may not be of use against Elise... does she have any chance at all here? Alexandria Kirison is back in action, and although she went down in defeat last Showdown, it was to the current Women's Champion, Kaelara Sentarl, gaining a bit of catharsis for the Greek ending her mother's impressive reign as Women's Champion months ago. Alex takes on Rachel White this week, a much less daunting task for the former champion, and it's expected that she'll run right through Rachel without breaking a sweat. The Phantom Thief is determined not to fade into the background after falling short in his attempts at becoming World Champion... as last episode showed he's still very much a threat, defeating Lance Marshall in one of the best matches of the show. Now he sets his sights on another man still aiming to prove himself to the world in Telan Kintelas... Cassandra Marshall has been in a foul mood for weeks now. Constantly hounded by illicit rumors, accusations that both Lance and herself have vehemently denied... it's enough to make someone snap. Laenara Kintelas will likely be hoping that this isn't the week Cassandra's temper finally erupts... nobody wants to be on the receiving end of the powerhouse Texan. Not now. The tag team champions will not be defending their titles this week... not yet. The #1 contenders have elected to push their challenge to episode 27, and in the meantime, Firehawk and Rilantha will square off with one of the best teams in the world, fresh off of an absolutely incredible match with ZIP Japan's Doogan Brothers. The Rising Storm will be looking to raise their stock once again... but what would a victory for them mean here, and what would it do to the tag team championship scene? Natasha Clover may have fallen short in her match against Todd Colton at the anniversary show, but she gained a whole lot more than she lost that night... now, bolstered by a budding relationship with the brash Proving Ground star, she sets her sights on Eri Sentarl, looking to bounce back and start making her case in the women's division. Binak Tonorian and Lance Marshall have met more than once lately... they've seen a lot of each other as of late, but now they're set to clash, with nobody to stand in their way. Can Lance stand against Phoenix Rising's giant? Will the match against Cowboy have sparked Lance's old fire once again? Shiana Sentarl has been at odds with Les Beautes Blondes for much of the past year... mostly thanks to Angel's attitude, her arrogance constantly getting under Shiana's skin. The veteran is coming off of a frustrating loss to Victoria Frey, and following that, stated that she's set to make some changes... and with Michelle Rochefort standing in to face Shiana one-on-one for the first time, the world will soon get to see what the Queen of Phoenix Rising meant by that. The #1 contenders, Tasharun and Kantar, square off with the team that's been achingly close to the top spot on more than one occasion. With Kileas and Winifred aiming to prove their worth, do they have what it takes to bring down the demonic team? A win here could send the entire title picture into chaos... Kaelara Sentarl's next test comes in the form of Angel Leblanc. Her mother has already been at war with Angel on and off these past few months... but Kaelara is a much different beast than Shiana's ever been. Does Angel have what it takes to step up against the Women's Champion, or will she once again find herself falling short? The rematch everyone's been anticipating... Urani Whitemist steps up once again to face off against her close friend, tag partner, and the woman who took the World Championship from her, the Black Dragon. Dragon has been a dominant champion thus far, but Urani will be looking to prove that her defeat was a one-time only event... friends or not, Urani wants her championship back. Shiana Sentarl "Seems like I just can't get away from you, Angel. You've got a problem with me, still, after all this time... but that's all right, because I still have a problem with you. From the day you arrived here, you've carried yourself as though you were better than everyone around you... as if you didn't have to put the time and effort in, that you expected to simply be the best because you willed it to happen. Let me remind you, Angel, that I've been doing this for much longer than you. There are only two women in Phoenix Rising that can claim more than I can: Winifred Wright, and Eve Blackwood. The rest of you don't come close. Especially you, Angel... and if you want to make me jump through hoops to get another shot at shutting down your smug attitude, then I'll put both of your friends down first before I turn back to you. Michelle Rochefort is about to be the first person to discover exactly what the terror of a veteran who's finally got it all figured out can feel like. I don't need backup. I don't need to prove anything, besides the fact that I will bring down all three members of Les Beautes Blondes over the course of the next few shows... and there's nothing you can do to stop that." Angel Leblanc "It has been a mere two days since Victoria Frey humiliated you, and now you claim you're a threat to us? A 'veteran' you might be, but I believe your age has clouded your mind. Your time has passed, it was over when Alexandria defeated you, and yet you cling desperately to the last shreds of hope you have left, trying one last time to re-live your prime before you're forced to retire in disgrace. Give up, Shiana Sentarl... stand down, and let the true Queens of Phoenix Rising take control.
As for your young daughter... Kaelara Sentarl is the most like you, out of your children. She doesn't know when to quit. Doesn't know when she's outmatched, when she's walking into a hopeless battle. She celebrated becoming Women's Champion, and after tonight, she will mourn, knowing that her reign is nearly at an end. When I beat her, I will demand my championship match as soon as possible, and when I crush her again, she'll have nothing left but to run crying into her mother's arms, knowing that she is nothing more than a failure... just like you."

The voting for the Best of 2018 Awards has wrapped up, and the results have been very, very clear (for the most part, anyway!) So here they are, in order:
Showdown Male Wrestler of the Year
There was absolutely no question about who won this award. Lance Marshall ran away with this one without any competition.
Showdown Female Wrestler of the Year
This one wasn't quite as overwhelming, but it still firmly belongs to Urani Whitemist, although the Black Dragon also received votes for this category.
Proving Ground Male Wrestler of the Year
Once again, a firm consensus on this one, Blake Dynamite closes 2018 having EARNED the title of "Mr. Proving Ground".
Proving Ground Female Wrestler of the Year
A big surprise in this category, the most hotly contested of the four: but in the end, it was Layla Al-Amin that takes this award home for the year!
Showdown Tag Team of the Year
Pretty much no contest here: The Rising Storm were very firmly the team on top in this category, to the surprise of absolutely no one.
Proving Ground Tag Team of the Year
So, this one wound up being a bit of a snarl: everyone that voted, voted for a different team! The four teams that received votes were
Kellaron Sentarl and Victor Kintelas, The Limbtakers, Pure Gold, and the Muscle Machines.
I could make a tiebreaker vote, but I feel Proving Ground's tag scene has been strong enough that all four teams deserve recognition.
Showdown Match of the Year
Five matches would be recognized for this category, and those five are as follows:
Besos/Eri def. Oscuro/Hypnosia, Showdown #19 Eri vs. Oscuro cage match, New Year's Bash Lance Marshall vs. Binak Tonorian, Showdown #17 The Black Dragon vs. Urani Whitemist, Showdown #20 The Black Dragon vs. Tasharun, Showdown #6
All five matches were excellent, and all five deserve to be recognized here.
Proving Ground Match of the Year
Three matches were recognized for Proving Ground:
Listalva vs. Felice for the Inspire Championship, Proving Ground #11 Silver Hawk def. Blake Dynamite for the Top Prospect, Proving Ground #20 Kellaron vs. Victor, loser out of Pure Gold, Proving Ground #20
Showdown Breakout Star of the Year
Another snarl in the voting here, so the three stars recognized for this category are:
Fenix Oscuro, Telan Kintelas, and Binak Tonorian.
Proving Ground Breakout Star of the Year
A close vote in this category, but the winner here is Silver Hawk.

Showdown episode 26 lands tonight, 7:30 Pacific as usual. With how wild the past week has been it feels kinda weird, if I'm being honest, but we're gonna move along as normal, 'cause that's how it's meant to be.

Technical difficulties have apparently been the order of the day, what with JJB's stream dying mid-way through and wiping the whole thing, and Showdown having some framedrops and an outright -crash- in the middle of a match. As a result, this week's show had to be split in two. Still, despite that, this was a very, very solid show. Twitch Part One: www.twitch.tv/videos/375427350Twitch Part Two: www.twitch.tv/videos/375427750Youtube Part One: youtu.be/J-ffbZ5XMvAYoutube Part Two: youtu.be/s0FxSObO_acQuick Results Elise Pichon def. Sophia Moretti Rachel White def. Alexandria Kirison Telan Kintelas def. The Phantom Thief Cassandra Marshall def. Laenara Kintelas The Rising Storm def. Firehawk and Rilantha Eri Sentarl def. Natasha Clover Binak Tonorian def. Lance Marshall Shiana Sentarl def. Michelle Rochefort Kileas and Winifred def. Tasharun and Kantar Kaelara Sentarl def. Angel Leblanc The Black Dragon def. Urani Whitemist Write-ups Sophia came with a completely new look, a new style, and took Elise Pichon to the absolute limit. While she would still ultimately lose this one, Sophia looked far better than she has in months... could it finally be her time to shine? In a scenario that would've been unthinkable just a couple of months ago, Rachel White came out of the gate and took the fight to the former Women's Champion, finally laying Alex out with her signature kick, and picked up a truly impressive upset victory. Rachel has seemingly turned a corner as of late... is it time for her to break out in her own right? The Phantom Thief's inconsistency rears its head again as he falls to Telan Kintelas... when he'd just come off of a win over Lance Marshall. Can the Thief figure out why he's unable to stay on top for more than a single match? Or is this just the story of his life, by now? Cassandra Marshall's run continues with a wild brawl against Laenara Kintelas, a very hard-fought match that showed everything Cassandra had to offer. But it was those powerful elbow strikes that'd finally put Lae down for the count, and Cassandra once again looks like a conqueror. The formerly undefeated tag team champions lost that streak to Tasharun and Kantar last Showdown... and now, they fall once again to the Rising Storm, who enter their hats into the ring for a shot at the tag team championship alongside the Demons. The champions have never looked as vulnerable as they do now... could the end of their reign be near? Natasha never quite fully got her offense rolling in this one, never entirely able to bring the power of the Devil Hand to bear against Eri. The Little Phoenix showed no fear, and landed a sharp seated Superkick to take the win, looking better than ever in a post-Oscuro world. Once again, Binak finds himself in a real fight, with Lance pulling out all the stops to try and bring the giant down. But an early backfist opened a nasty cut on Lance's forehead, and it never really got better from there despite Lance fighting hard for some time after the shot, landing two Cattle Drives but finally getting caught with a massive chokeslam that ended his night. Shiana Sentarl was almost a different woman entirely from the one we saw last week against Victoria Frey. Her pace was more deliberate, her movements more thoughtful. But make no mistake, the veteran's instinct is still there, and when the moment presented itself, Shiana seized it immediately. Despite Michelle Rochefort zeroing in on Shiana's broken-down knees, the Queen of Phoenix Rising fired back with a thunderous piledriver, and picked up a much-needed win, showing that she is far from ready to call it quits. In a match briefly cut off by a stream crash, the demons tried their hardest as #1 contenders to ensure that nobody else would be able to make their claim. But Kileas Kintelas was not going to be denied, and Winifred Wright showed that despite being the smallest person in the match, she was likely one of the strongest, as well, delivering a few hard right hands to Tasharun that seemed to rattle the demon... and softened him up for Kileas to lock in his King Cobra Hold, forcing a submission victory. Three teams now have a claim to be the next challenger for the tag team championship, held by Firehawk and Rilantha... but how will this be settled? The Women's Champion continues to look like one, enduring Angel's offense, kicking out of her DDT, struggling out of the Figure Eight... and once again, delivering the Rainbow Bridge for yet another big win, just one week after facing the woman who made the move famous. While she didn't use the Bridge against Hana Brightly, she's clearly right back to it against the rest of Phoenix Rising's women's division. The World Champion may be unstoppable. Twice, now, she's taken on the Titan that is Urani Whitemist, and twice, she's beaten Urani, using the same move to do it both times. Nobody's come close to beating the champion yet, not when the title is on the line, and often even when it isn't... who could possibly stop the Dragon now? Shiana Sentarl Shiana's stretched out on a bench, ice packs wrapped around both knees... Michelle's offense clearly having done its job, even without taking the victory from her. But the Queen looks defiant, confident in a way that she hasn't been in quite some time. "You tried to put me down, Michelle. Tried to ensure that I wouldn't make it to Angel, tried to make sure that I wouldn't be able to bring you down. But you didn't go far enough. True, everyone knows my major weakness. And true, you did your best to use that weakness to your advantage. But you didn't do enough to keep me down. If I can still stand... I can still beat you. And Elise Pichon will be the next one to know that, when we face each other in two weeks." The Black Dragon "There's no one, NO ONE, that can take this title from me. Tonight, I proved that, beyond any doubts. There's not a single person in Phoenix Rising that could come at me and beat me for this World Championship, and they all know it, now... because if Urani can't do it, on two separate occasions, then what hope does anyone else have? I'll tell you up front: you don't. But keep lining yourselves up in front of me, so I can keep knocking you all down. Because by the time all's said and done, I'm gonna go down as the single most dominant World Champion... EVER."

Twitch was awfully temperamental last night, I think. :P Right, so, this Thursday, we've got Evergreen action, and it's time to get the card posted for that show. Evergreen Wrestling Episode 4El Verde vs. Rebecca Andrews and Sayaka Saito Kevin Royce vs. Julian Shepard Laenara Kintelas vs. Ash Defiant eMo (Strawberry Sookie and Penelope Lea) vs. The Wild Women (Mina Fitsharris and Juliette Erving) Eddy Introspect vs. Vincent Sheridan Kantar vs. Zack Sheridan Main Event: Mercy Devine vs. Veronika Armstrong for the Evergreen Championship (Kevin Royce as the referee)
El Verde kicks off the show with what Eternamente Verde hopes will be the last time she ever has to team up with El Evergringo... but they'll be taking on Veronika Armstrong's two partners, the Chicago-born Rebecca Andrews, and Sayaka Saito, hailing from Kumamoto, Japan. Sayaka's debut match ended in vicious fashion at the hands of Kevin Royce, but she's bounced back and is ready to take another shot at showing what she can do.
Speaking of Kevin Royce, he'll be a busy man tonight: not only will he be refereeing the main event, but he'll have his hands full with Julian Shepard, who debuted last episode in a solid brawl with Kantar, and while he'd ultimately lose that match, Julian definitely made an impact on his first night... he may very well do it again this time out.
Laenara Kintelas laid out an Evergreen guest last episode, wiping out Payaso Terrible from Blackrose with the Kintelas Driver... and now she sets her sights on Ash Defiant, easily one of the toughest people in all of Evergreen. Does Laenara have what it takes, just three nights after her hard-fought brawl with Cassandra Marshall?
eMo has been very up-and-down so far in Evergreen, and most of that falls on Eddy Introspect... but he'll be in singles action, while Strawberry Sookie and Penelope Lea step in to take on a guest team from PEWA, the Wild Women, made up of Mina Fitsharris and Juliette Erving. There can be no doubt that this match is going to be chaotic, and almost certainly bloody... who will even be left standing at the end of this one?
Eddy, meanwhile, steps into the ring with Vincent Sheridan, ahead of Vincent's grudge match on next week's Proving Ground, thanks to his cheap shot aimed at Candace Monroe. Vincent will need to stay focused here: Eddy is certainly no slouch in the ring, despite his appearance and attitude.
Vincent's brother, Zack, steps up in the next match to take on the demon, a would-be #1 contender to the Phoenix Rising Tag Team Championship, Kantar (That situation will be solved very soon, make no mistake about that.) Kantar has been a wrecking ball in Evergreen, but Zack is a dangerously gifted athlete... still, talent can only get one so far against the raw power of a demon.
Finally, the match that Mercy Devine has been waiting for all this time. With Kevin Royce stepping in as referee, Mercy is certain that she'll be able to claim the Evergreen Championship... but she'll still have to beat Veronika Armstrong, and no matter how much the deck is stacked against the pride of Oakland's metal scene, Veronika is sure to make this a fight to remember...

Evergreen, as usual, flew by tonight, but it sure didn't stop the matches from tearing the house down. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/376985469Youtube: youtu.be/aqPg5QHNwsMQuick Results El Verde def. Rebecca Andrews and Sayaka Saito Julian Shepard def. Kevin Royce Ash Defiant def. Laenara Kintelas The Wild Women def. eMo Eddy Introspect def. Vincent Sheridan Kantar def. Zack Sheridan Veronika Armstrong def. Mercy Devine to retain the Evergreen Championship Write-ups El Verde once again shows signs of being the team to beat in Evergreen: with teamwork that most of the other duos in the fed can't begin to approach! Despite Verde's disdain for Evergringo, the two were absolutely on the same page tonight, and while Evergringo held off Rebecca, Verde was able to pin Sayaka for the victory. The start of a bad night for Kevin Royce... Julian Shepard came out of the gate ready to fight, and while he looked out-gunned early on, once things spilled outside and the chairs began to pile up, Julian seemed to turn the tide. Things would move back into the ring, and Julian would come off the top with a dive that seemed to wipe Kevin out entirely... giving Julian a MAJOR upset victory! A tough week for Laenara, first getting beaten by Cassandra Marshall on Showdown, and now running into Ash Defiant, who handled her with little issue. The lucky grey shirt? Or just a bad night by Lae? Either way, Defiant wins tonight. Easily the best match of the night, a chaotic brawl that saw the only blood of the entire night (much to everyone's surprise). Sookie and Penelope held their own for a good while in this one, and while Mina and Juliette continued to get in each others' way as they always seem to, they got on the same page long enough for Mina to land a sharp DDT on Penelope and score the pin... followed by taking an annoyed kick of frustration from Sookie once the bell rang. Perhaps a late save, or perhaps Sookie's just in a foul mood. Eddy set out to salvage the night, taking on Vincent Sheridan, and immediately ran into trouble early on. Still, in true Eddy fashion, he started to turn the tide with his usual brand of offense... and ultimately, he'd fire right back, landing a big-time fistdrop from the top rope, and scoring a much-needed win for eMo. Zack put some -fear- into Kantar tonight... while he didn't walk away with the win, his flurry of offense late in the match seemed to suggest he was well on his way to beating the demon before getting caught with an almost frantic chokeslam. Kantar escaped... but that's the real detail here. He escaped this one, and Zack Sheridan proves he's a threat no matter who he's up against. Veronika Armstrong wasn't going to let anything stand in her way. Not Mercy, not Kevin Royce, and certainly not the fact that she was defending her championship for the first time. She was locked in tonight, giving Mercy everything she had, and while Mercy tried to slow her down where she could, there was no doubt that the champion was in charge. Veronika punctuated her victory with a sharp, vicious powerbomb, and Kevin had no choice but to declare her the winner... but retribution could be coming for the Evergreen Champion. Kevin Royce "You think this is over just because you won your first defense. That I'm just going to walk away now that you've won. You survived one match, Veronika, survived when the odds weren't in your favor. But more challengers will come. More people will keep coming after you, and I am not going to rest until I see you beaten, broken, and no longer Evergreen Champion. Tonight, you were lucky. But luck always runs out, sooner or later." Veronika Armstrong "You want to threaten me? Want to tell me that I don't belong, that I'm not 'extreme' enough, that I don't deserve to be champion... and then you tell me that your hand-picked, pink little bitch is more deserving. Count yourself lucky, Kevin, that I decided to just beat Mercy instead of break her in half. That I just left her lying, instead of choked out, or concussed, or with a broken neck. Because every single outcome flashed through my head during that match, every single possibility in my head to beat Mercy... and I chose the lightest, least painful option for her. Fact is, she doesn't have what it takes to really take this title off of me. Nobody in Evergreen does. Not you, not Mercy, and not whoever else you've got in mind to send my way. I'll fight until I can't fight anymore. I'll keep swinging until my body gives out. I'm a fighting champion, and I know what that means. So throw whatever you've got at me, Kevin. I dare you. Just try and break me." El Verde "You get what I've been telling you these past few matches. This is working. And with the upcoming tag titles..." El Evergringo is in a familiar situation... talking to an obviously-annoyed Verde, though she seems more aloof than frustrated with him this time. "We could be champions. We're better than the rest. Better than all of them. I'm only asking you to consider this. I know you'd much rather be known on your own merits, but..."
"I'll continue working with you, because of the titles." Verde slowly turns to look at him. "Because you are right. We do have what it takes to win them. But you answer to me. You follow my lead. And the moment I tell you to get lost... you'll do it. Those are my conditions." She extends a hand to him, a surprising fire in her eyes. "You've proved at least one thing tonight: you are capable, when you want to be. Perhaps you really can be of use."
"I don't intend to let you down." Evergringo accepts her hand, though he's pulled down to eye level by his mask again as Verde speaks.
"You had better not. Still, you've done nothing to suggest that you're anything less than serious about this partnership." Verde gives a soft laugh... then lightly shoves him away. "Keep it that way. Bring your best, every show, until we win those titles..." So, there's where it all stands. Evergreen will be setting up its own tag team championship over the next few shows, with... well, the usual way you settle these things, with an 8-team tournament. I'll figure out who all's in it ASAP, though I don't know what shows it's going to take place on.

The Wild Women Juliette Erving: That was fun! Lotsa fun! We actually won a match, and I like it! I think I could get used to having this much fun with you, Mina!
Mina Fitsharris: Yeah, sure...wait...what? No, no, nonono.
Juliette: C'mon, wanna celebrate with a kiss?
Mina: No.
Juliette: You could come over to my hotel room!
Mina: NO.
Juliette: Fine, a hug.
Mina: No.
Juliette: What, the ghost of Tomko possess you?
Mina: Ugh. Look, we won, I'm happy, you're...you, and let's just leave it at that, don't ruin this, ok? We worked together for once, we won, for once, can you be normal, for once?
Juliette: Aww, lil' Mina feel uncomfortable? Nah, I'm just messin' with you. Not that I wouldn't want to mess around with you!
Mina: Argh!
Juliette: But seriously, really, we didn't do bad at all. We kicked their asses! We got a real team goin' here, don't we?
Mina: Yeah, we do. Now we do, at least. Took long enough for us to stop tripping over each other's feet out there, but we keep this up, we're making another run at those PEWA tag titles at the least.
Juliette: I'd be down for that. We gotta make something big happen. We're too badass to roll over and let these other teams step over us anymore.
Mina: And like I said, we go back to the PEWA, we're tellin' Biff that he's giving us a shot again. I mean, we could each challenge Tomas, I already beat him, but...
Juliette: We got a good thing going with this team. Gonna make it work. Being real here, it's twice the challenge of trying to get a win separately. Cause there's twice to think about, it's not just 'bout being tougher and badder.
Mina: You're not wrong.
Juliette: Just gotta ask one more question. You had to dance when I was pinned?
Mina: Yeah.
Juliette: Cause that was freakin' hot!
Mina: Why do I even bother...why?

Proving Ground coming up this Monday, the card's obviously been delayed in posting thanks to Evergreen last night. But here it is, for Monday, February 11. Pre-Show: Allison Avery vs. Felice Santana
Pre-Show: Kyle Anderson vs. Hugo Dirksen
Pre-Show: Veronika Armstrong vs. Donna Nobel
Rey de la Carne vs. Todd Colton
Ruthless Nicole Alger vs. Zack Sheridan
Kellaron Sentarl vs. Mascara Avispa
The Heyward Sisters vs. The Muscle Machines
Candace Monroe vs. Vincent Sheridan
Fresh Suzuki vs. Layla Al-Amin for the Inspire Championship
Elly Blackwood vs. Victor Kintelas for the Top Prospect Championship
Main Event: The Avian Assassins vs. Pure Gold for the Proving Ground Tag Team Championship
It's been a rough stretch for Allison Avery, not quite able to find sustained success as of yet. But against Felice Santana, she may have the upper hand... at least, if she can keep up with the agile Dominican star, as they open up the show. Kyle Anderson's struggles have only continued lately. After falling short in pursuit of the Top Prospect Championship, he's had trouble finding that same success again, but against the Dutchman Hugo Dirksen, perhaps he can finally get himself back on track. Closing out the pre-show, the Evergreen Champion, fresh off of an impressive defense at Thursday's Evergreen show, steps into the ring with Donna Nobel, seeking to keep her momentum going. But this is likely to be the last show Donna will need to fly solo... Nicole Blade is expected to be cleared after this show, and the Excellent Blades will get to make their triumphant return to the ring as a team. Todd Colton opens up the main card across from Rey de la Carne, ahead of the expected debut of his new tag team alongside Natasha Clover... a team expected to step into the ring next Showdown. For now, though, Todd will have his hands full trying to deal with a former Top Prospect... in the hopes of making his own case for that title. After last Proving Ground's incident, this match was signed along with the later one... RNA called out Zack Sheridan, as she was the one who scored the fall over Zack, the Limbtakers very heated after the cheap shot landed by Vincent. Here, the grudge will, with any luck, be settled properly. Kellaron Sentarl aims to keep his run as a singles competitor rolling along, as he watches to see if Victor Kintelas will retain the Top Prospect Championship... but Kellaron can't take his eyes off this match, as he'll be facing off against one of the best in the business, Mascara Avispa. The Heyward Sisters fell... quite a bit short in their challenge for the Proving Ground Tag Team Championship, but they're certainly on the same page now... and they're aiming to take that to heart as they challenge the Muscle Machines, who received a vote for Proving Ground's best tag team (along with a few others, resulting in a big old tie.) But do the Heywards have what it takes to handle the powerhouse that is Gary Gear, and the brash, arrogant AAA? Candace Monroe was furious after last episode's tag match, as Vincent Sheridan took a post-match cheap shot at her. Now she's stepping into the ring with Vincent one-on-one, looking to rip the Anaheim native's leg off in retribution... does Vincent have a chance of surviving this one? The first title match of the night will be with the most impressive singles champion on Proving Ground. Layla Al-Amin defends the Inspire Championship against Fresh Suzuki, in what is almost guaranteed to be fast-paced and utterly relentless from start to finish. Following that, Victor Kintelas defends the Top Prospect Championship against the woman who beat him last episode: Elly Blackwood lived up to her "Invincible" moniker on that show, and she'll be looking to do so again here, and walk away with the championship as well. Elly has been nothing short of frightening in her time on Proving Ground... can Victor hope to remain champion against a force like this? Finally, Pure Gold defend their Tag Team Championship against a team only formed less than a month ago: Pajaro de Fuego and Silver Hawk, named the Avian Assassins during their match, were granted the next shot by Kanjirin Tonorian, and they'll be hoping to finally be the team that dethrones Pure Gold as the single most dominant champions in Phoenix Rising history. Candace Monroe "No cheap shots to be had here. No screwing around, nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, it's just you and me, Vincent. You act like a fuckin' idiot, you're gonna get treated like one when I rip your leg off, you hear me? I've been thinking about this match for a few weeks now and I can't wait to give you what you deserve."

Current plan is to still run Proving Ground tomorrow (Monday) night, but if the weather takes down our internet again, it'll end up being delayed. No telling what's going to happen, the snowstorms out here have been rough.
