I was one of the first to come back when Evergreen rebooted, the first in the door when it all started back up. Walked in the door, knocked off Kevin Royce, and never looked back! Never once showed a hint of fear or hesitation in that ring, but could never quite latch on to the big belt... the prize I've always had my eye on.

"Part of me wonders a little... if I got inside my own head, after the Ascension. Was I just expecting people to be frustrated with the fact that I was the one who took it all? Took the perception that suddenly, the guy in charge is getting the shot at the big one? I feel like... well, frankly, that I might've imagined it all. But let's be honest here...

Mascara Avispa proved that he was never, at any point, a fluke champion.

But I had no intention of ever, ever letting him stop me. Not this time. Not after so many false starts, so many wasted opportunities... not this time. I'd never be able to forgive myself. Never be able to shed the last, terrible choke if I couldn't get this done.

Six years into Phoenix Rising... I haven't been World Champion up this way since well before that. This might be the last time I ever get to feel the weight of the World Championship... as mine. And I don't intend to just sit on this, watching and waiting while everyone clamors to be the next in line. No... I'm going to fight. I may insist that this be the first and only time I ever hold this title, and if I'm going to do that...

I'm going to make this reign the most intense, fighter's reign that Phoenix Rising has ever seen.

Showdown starts back up in a few weeks, going back to the every-two-weeks schedule from years past. And I intend to defend this title every... single... episode. From now until someone brings me down. You want your shot at the title? Come and take it from me. The door's open. I'll be a fighting champion until I physically can't be anymore... and then... I'll withdraw from championship contention for however long my career lasts after that.
