One more show before the big one. Evergreen Federation Wrestling Episode 56 Logan Axelrod vs. Ashton Crowe
The Evergreen Misfits vs. Oakland's Most Metal
Elly Blackwood vs. Kantar
Trinity Knight vs. Strawberry Sookie
The Bingo Hall Mutants vs. eMo (Eddy/Penelope)
Mercy Devine vs. Ash Defiant
Concrete Pete vs. Kevin Royce
The Sheridan Brothers vs. El Verde
Freya O'Malley vs. Babe Ruthless, #1 Contender's Match for the Evergreen Championship Mostly a "holding pattern" sort of show outside of a couple of major matches: the main event decides who goes on to challenge Kroll for the Evergreen Championship on Monday night. The Misfits vs. Oakland's Most Metal will be for a shot at the Trios Championships next time they come around to Evergreen (whether that's in July or August, depending on how much of a break I take after Monday), and the Sheridans/El Verde match will be for a match at Sky's the Limit as well, against Crimson Romance... looking for the right to challenge new tag champs Mercy and Trinity. The rest of the show? Let's just get the biggest possible matches we can as we head into the biggest show of the summer.

Monday night... June 27. The road's led to this, a colossal card with some of the biggest matches to date in Phoenix Rising. Sky's the Limit V Golden Tigress vs. Felice Santana for the Inspire Championship
Crimson Romance vs. El Verde, #1 Contender's Match for the Evergreen Tag Team Championships
Lance Marshall vs. Johnny Rocket
Firehawk Sentarl and Rilantha De Nav vs. Silver and Black Attack (Kileas/Winifred)
Babe Ruthless vs. Kroll for the Evergreen Championship
Pure Gold (Kanjirin/Mallory/Kyle) vs. eMo (Sookie/Eddy/Penelope) for the Phoenix Rising Trios Championships
Titania vs. Kojiro Burai for the Pacific Northwest Championship
Todd Colton vs. Ryan Donovan for the Spirit of Texas Championship
The Malevolent Triad vs. The GOAT for the Phoenix Rising Tag Team Championships
Riccardo De Luca vs. Sanya Markov for the Top Prospect Championship
Mascara Avispa vs. Candace Monroe for the Phoenix Rising World Championship It all kicks off with the Inspire Championship, where Golden Tigress looks to join the rest of the Ambush with singles gold. Both of her partners have held Proving Ground titles in the past, but they've eluded Tigress herself until now... but can she bring down Felice Santana and knock another championship off Felice's collection? We determined this match just last night on Evergreen... with El Verde picking up the win over the Sheridans, they move on to this match against Crimson Romance, all for the right to challenge for the Evergreen Tag Team Championships whenever the next show happens to be. Mercy and Trinity will be waiting... Simple, straight to the point: AFW was going to be given equal rep on this show to Evergreen, and what better way to do it than by giving Johnny Rocket one more go at the man that's vexed him for so long? Lance Marshall has had his fellow Houston native's number practically from day one... but could the biggest stage be the catalyst to turn the tide? The struggle between the Sentarl Alliance and the Kintelas Family has been quiet as of late... but make no mistake, they're fully intent on fighting this out through the year, and the legendary duos will clash once again, with Firehawk and Ril once again clashing with their eternal rivals, Kileas and Winifred. Nothing on the line but pride... though keep in mind the tag titles are always hanging in the balance. Babe Ruthless didn't just earn this match, she stormed into it. With a tremendously dominant victory over Freya O'Malley, Babe might be poised for a huge match here... but Kroll is a terrifying force, regardless of who she's up against, and this could be one of the hardest-fought matches of the night. Pure Gold's first match of the night will be a shot at the Trios Championships... and after a rough night for the reigning champions, eMo, the Pure Gold trio might be on the verge of a breakthrough. Still, one can never count out a team that involves both Sookie and Eddy... their ability to come through when it matters most is well-documented. We've known about this match for a good few weeks now. Titania put off her opportunity at the Pacific Northwest Championship specifically to take her shot on the biggest possible stage... and not only is she getting that, she's getting exactly the fight she wanted all along against Kojiro Burai. This battle for the Pacific Northwest Championship could be one of the most spectacular of the entire night... The Battle of the Carolinas. The Spirit of Texas hanging over the match. Todd Colton, the Greatest Technician Alive, the loudmouth egomaniac that nonetheless has proven time and time again that it's certainly no bluster... he's a legitimate talent, to the core. Across from him: the Carolina Reaper, the most dominant man in the entire Phoenix Rising organization, the destructive force that has kept a stranglehold on AFW's upper echelons for months, now. Is this the night the Reaper finally falls? The Malevolent Triad could be one match away from the biggest win of their careers. While we have yet to know which of the three will be taking part in this match, regardless of who they pick, it won't be easy... the GOAT have been tough to beat, and the tag titles won't be easy to take from their hands. Sanya Markov has taken on all comers. For months now, he's fought and defended his title every single show, facing a myriad of challengers, going to war time and time again against the best and brightest that the Alliance has to offer. But here, it'll be a homegrown talent that takes center-stage... Riccardo De Luca has one thing on his mind, the biggest prize on Proving Ground. The co-main event... can Riccardo step up and knock off the dominant Russian champion? Closing out the night... the main event, the World Championship. Mascara Avispa fought his way through to this one moment. Another chance to stand at the top, a shot at glory... but standing in his way is a champion that nobody would've imagined could be so tough to stop. Candace Monroe has been nothing short of tremendous since winning the World Championship from Kanjirin Tonorian, and since then, she's proven it was no fluke by bringing down challengers of equal stature. But this won't be a battle against a giant... Avispa is unlike any opponent Candace has faced at the top of the mountain. Can she adapt, or will Avispa become the first World Champion from outside Phoenix Rising's own halls?

Full Write-upsThe match of Golden Tigress's career. Going in against the wildly popular (and exceptionally talented) Felice Santana, Tigress made it very clear why she's much, much less hated than her male counterpart, putting on a red-hot opener and coming away with a spectacular victory to claim the first piece of singles gold in her career. Felice still remains one-half of the Proving Ground tag team champions, but it's now the only belt she holds after dropping both the Inspire Championship and TIPWF Trios Championships in recent weeks. Well on its way to being a crazy, typical, chaotic Evergreen tag match... but Eternamente Verde clearly had no intention of letting this opportunity slip through her fingers, and after a truly violent brawl on the outside, she landed her huge leaping cutter on Luci, putting her down for a knockout victory and giving El Verde the shot at Mercy and Trinity in the near future. The absolute highlight of the first half of the show, and one of the best of the night. Johnny Rocket has had trouble handling Lance Marshall in the past... they've faced each other plenty of times, but Lance has always gotten the upper hand. That changed here on the biggest stage possible, with Rocket enduring everything Lance had to throw his way and came roaring back into the match to finally pick up a win over his fellow Houston native. A big, big win for Rocket that could set him on a collision course with the Spirit of Texas Champion... Whenever these two teams cross paths, sparks fly. This was an intense tag team matchup between veterans, a match we've seen plenty of times already... but once again, Rilantha De Nav proved the decisive factor here, seemingly unstoppable en route to locking in the Anaconda Vice for a final submission victory. With eternal rivals Firehawk and Kileas not involved in the finish, no doubt the conflict between the Sentarl Alliance and Kintelas Family will continue. A tremendous showing from Babe Ruthless. Kroll's looked like a monster as of late, but none of it seemed to matter to Babe, who came out defiant, violent, and relentless. She'd ultimately secure a submission with her brutal full-nelson clutch, and Babe Ruthless became the second new champion of the night. eMo's week leading up to Sky's the Limit was, frankly, disastrous. And with the night starting off the way it did, the scales seemed tipped in favor of a title change here. But never, ever count out one of Evergreen's top factions... especially Eddy Introspect, who ultimately picked up the victory here in his usual clutch fashion. eMo remains the Trios Champions, and their next defense will come from within Evergreen once again. Kojiro Burai stepped up once again. While Titania was a wrecking ball in the ring, Kojiro was a ferocious force that simply refused to stay down, dishing out every bit as good as he got. The Titanic Bomb simply wasn't enough this time around, and Kojiro retained his championship with his huge running stomp, continuing a reign that's quickly becoming legendary. Perhaps one of the closest matches Ryan's had since becoming Spirit of Texas Champion... but anymore, his victory seems inevitable. He's been purely unstoppable, and after kicking out of everything Todd Colton could throw at him, Ryan landed the most devastating finisher in AFW, the Widowmaker... and that was that. Ryan stays on top. The Malevolent Triad was not a major presence for some time. But lately, they've become every bit the threat they've seemingly meant to be... and Fenix Oscuro has suddenly stepped up to remind the Showdown roster that despite being somewhat inactive for a time, she is still the Triad's leader for good reason. This was a devastating combination: Oscuro and Selisha simply outclassed the GOAT, and Oscuro would lock in her brutal Cavernaria variation to secure the win, and the Phoenix Rising Tag Team Championships. Riccardo De Luca's night started off horrifically bad. Sanya Markov was in charge for the first half of this match, make no mistake, as Riccardo seemed to be trying to meet the powerhouse Russian face-to-face. The moment he stopped trying to do that, the match shifted gears, and Riccardo began to build up momentum. The man known as Perpetual Motion lived up to that name as the match reached its climax... a relentless offense that Sanya did his best to try and stifle, but it wasn't enough... Riccardo came out the other side, victorious, the new Top Prospect Champion, ending one of the most dominant and impressive reigns Proving Ground has ever seen. Mascara Avispa has been in this position before. Staring down a major champion, looking to come home with the gold... but in the past, it simply hasn't worked out. Time and time again, Avispa's been on the outside looking in. Not this time. This was dominance in every sense. And while Candace Monroe seemed to get the better of him on the mat when the two went for it, Avispa certainly didn't give up much there... and he was simply better in every other phase of the match. It's as simple as that: the first man from outside Phoenix Rising's own sphere to hold the World Championship is a man that's fought throughout the organization for years. He's earned this moment, earned this place at the top of the mountain.

It's not often when something lives up to the hype like this did...but it absolutely did, and has to be the frontrunner for show of the year. --- A word from Felice Santana: Felice Santana: Look, first of all, all I want to say is that my guy Rickyardo went out there and he did what I knew he could do all along and he not just beat that big Russian side of beef, but he beat all the haters who said he was too flippy to win that, that he was too small, that he was getting his butt kicked, all those doubters, he beat them and he beat them too! Love ya, Ricky, you know I do!
Felice: But I guess I gotta talk about myself, so let me say what I have to say, and what I want to say is that I'm not ashamed of what happened out there, because Golden Tigress, she's a really, really, really good opponent, she's so fast she can run with me, and she's got that submission game, and you know, Domingo taught me a lot on how to deal with that, but everyone knows that's kinda the opposite of what I want to be doing in a match, so full credit to Tigress, she's not like her big jerkwad buddy, Golden Tiger, she's actually really good without having to take every shortcut, and you know, I really do respect that, so much that I wanna have another match with her, I don't care where, or if there's a belt or something, in fact, she earned that Inspire Championship fair and square and I don't want to take away from that, so I don't even want it to have anything to do with belts, but that was a great match and I'd like a rematch, maybe not today, or tomorrow, but sometime, ok? I mean, I hope it's ok! Because I think it'd be great! But yeah, I'll be back, so don't miss me!

"Let nobody ever say, 'Mascara Avispa's a bitch liar,' because when I said I was going to make history, that. Was. No. CAP! And let nobody say that I can't stand my own against anyone of any style. I've been training since I was in high school, I took the Greyhound to Laredo every weekend of my life with my lunch money, with my mom's credit card, with whatever I had to scrounge up to make this dream a reality, and goddamn it THIS IS WHAT IT WAS ALL ABOUT!! The recognition, the acclaim, the opportunity to show that, in the year of our lord 2022, I am the absolute PINNACLE of Phoenix Rising, without a shadow of a doubt! Whether you think of me as an 'outsider' or not, it doesn't matter. NOBODY can deny that on this night, I saw the peak of the mountain, said, 'nah, I can go higher than that,' and not only planted a flag at the apex but declared an even bigger mountain on the range to be the obstacle to overcome around here."
"Four years of grinding and struggling shaped this match! Four years of starting from from the bottom of the card - a young buck with a few strong showings elsewhere to my name - and working my way up, teaming with guys like Phantom Thief, like Blake Dynamite, some of whom had moved on to new places. Four years of wrestling the best in my division like Besos, like Silver Hawk, like Relampaga and Layla Al Amin, and of being on the other side of the ring from people who have a huge weight and height advantage on me like Lance Marshall and WINNING their respect. Even if I couldn't take back the title, of being considered the bride's maid but never the bride so to speak, I at least had that. Was I frustrated with constantly bumping my head against the ceiling without breaking through? Sure, who wouldn't be. I let that frustration turn me into a miserable, arrogant dick, and even then, it didn't get me gold. In the end, what mattered more than anything was being true to who I am, plain and simple."
"Now, listen Candace, none of this was personal! ... Well, other than maybe using Kirison's cross-arm clutch on you, that was probably a dick move. But it wasn't out of a need to stunt on you, it was because I knew it would wear you down, take the gas outta your tank, and wear down the shoulders on top of that. That 14, 15 years of training I've had - because this is always a learning process - is what makes the difference between you and me, and for that matter, me and the rest of this company. Not many people under 30 can say they've got that kinda tenure. Everything you could throw at me, I could match, even matwork - because nobody should see me, a junior heavyweight, and think, 'Oh, he must be some spot monkey with no fundamentals.' Nah, I'm a complete package."
"And, I've only scratched the SURFACE of what I can do. In the end, I didn't need any deep cuts - just the move that had gotten me this far up until now, the original flavor of La Avispa. But I'm no one-trick pony, hell no, and anyone who's been watching me over the years has gotta know that. Whoever's up next, whether it's one of the guys who lost their belts on Monday night, someone like Kojiro Burai angling for double gold, or just someone who gets on a lucky streak? You haven't seen ANYTHING yet."

So, quick overview of the current situation: Still on hiatus for the moment, polishing up a couple more edits, planning some stuff (like the long, long-delayed Phoenix Rising vs. AEW thing that I still don't really fully have "ready" at this point which means I may settle for "good enough"), and turning my consideration to the next "big thing" for Phoenix Rising... this year's Grand Ascension.
Still slated for October, I'm officially changing the format this year: much like NJPW's G1 Climax, I'm shifting gears and switching from a 2-blocks-of-8 setup to a 4-blocks-of-6 setup.
This allows for more participants from the "smaller" shows (Evergreen and AFW), and aligns each block to "favor" one of the four shows (each block will take one wrestler from each show, two from the one they "favor", and the sixth participant will be the traditional outsider).
I don't think I'll be back on for next week just yet, but I'm going to tentatively try to shoot for a show the week of the 25th, whether that's Proving Ground #101 or the first half of the AEW crossover shows. We'll see.
For now, there's the plan for when we get up and running again. The first Ascension participants will likely start being decided mid-August through September, but... well, at this point you already know who one of them is.
The only man who's been a part of all three Grand Ascensions to date.
Yeah, Todd Colton's gonna be in this one, like you would ever have thought otherwise.
EDIT: In addition I might also run a quick Academy card this month whether I'm back to streaming or not but it'll probably be an "off-screen" show. Might record a match or two just to chuck on YT. We'll see what happens.

Hiatus ends on Monday... well, sorta. The long-awaited AEW crossover shows will take place next week, on Monday and Thursday (as long as I don't feel like I want to melt in my chair because it will be on the warm side of things, unfortunately). Dividing this over two nights because, well... Night 1: Phoenix Rising vs. AEW, Jacksonville, Florida
Ryan Donovan vs. Malakai Black
The Sheridan Brothers vs. The Young Bucks
Urani Whitemist vs. Nyla Rose
Kevin Royce vs. Lance Archer
Speed Dating vs. Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti
Eri Sentarl vs. Hikaru Shida
Todd Colton vs. MJF
The GOAT vs. FTR
Blake Dynamite vs. Adam Cole
Shiana Sentarl vs. Britt Baker
Firehawk Sentarl vs. Kenny Omega Night 2: AEW vs. Phoenix Rising, Seattle, Washington Laenara Kintelas vs. Thunder Rosa
El Verde vs. Lucha Bros
Sanya Markov vs. Miro
Phantom Thief vs. Orange Cassidy
Titania vs. Wardlow
Keith Lee vs. Pac vs. Evil Uno vs. Darby Allin vs. Kyle Anderson vs. Kileas Kintelas vs. Concrete Pete vs. Freya O'Malley
Mercy Devine vs. Jon Moxley
Rising Storm vs. ReDragon
The Black Dragon vs. Samoa Joe
Rilantha De Nav vs. Bryan Danielson
Lance Marshall vs. Hangman Page As you can see, we have a lot... I mean, a LOT lined up for this. I'm... honestly not sure how this is gonna turn out, given my severe lack of experience in using IRL wrestler edits, but I've been mulling over this stupid idea for nearly a year, so we're going to do it, dammit. In the meantime: Kevin Royce"I don't need to say a lot about this one. You and I have both been around a good while in this business. But even then, you don't know what you're getting into. You've put together a nice, solid career, Archer. But you're going up against a hardcore legend of the Northwest. The most violent, dangerous, devastating son of a bitch ever to set foot in a ring.
Everyone dies? You got that right, big guy.
You first." Todd Colton"You wanna know something? I don't wanna hear a single word comparing me to this guy. MJF... yeah, OK, let's get this straight: I get why people talk about it. Why the comparisons happen, why they think you and I match up. So, y'know what, Maxie-boy? Let's set the record straight.
All right, so we're both experts at fuckin' up the other guy's arm. Problem: I'm way, way better at it. Don't even try to come at me otherwise, because you and I both know it's what I do best. Better than anyone around.
You wanna talk about 'I can beat you with a headlock takeover', oh, that's real, REAL cute. I don't need to beat someone with a basic move because I don't need to prove shit. I'll beat you with an armbar. I'll beat you with a Destroyer. I'll beat you with an Exploder. Shit, I'll beat you with the move they call the Phoenix Rising Special, tie you up in knots and make sure you stay down. And you WILL stay down, Maxie-boy, make no mistake.
So let's address the last big elephant in the room: both of us are pretty damn good at shit-talking the other guy. I mean, I'm doin' it right now. Difference there? I don't need to take stabs at the low-hanging fruit. I'm dressing you down with the facts: the pure, unfiltered truth. I'm taking my shots where I need to. Wrecking your shit because I know I'm the better man, body and mind. I don't need to come out here and call someone in your family a bitch, just so the crowd will get louder... you listen to them every single time I'm out there and you know I don't need anything else.
It all boils down to one simple fact: you're going up against someone you won't push aside, that you won't be able to make your usual claim. Because fact is, Maxie...
I'm. Better. Than. You."

All right, let's get back to work already. Proving Ground Episode 101 Keiko Maeda vs. Virginia Caldwell
Wild and Wilde Inc. vs. Aria Kintelas and Christina Wagner
HAYATO vs. Ziggy Rockefeller
Rei Hasegawa vs. Rin Ryusaki
The Yoshida Twins vs. Adrenaline Rush
Arthur Wright vs. Axel Halldorson
Fresh Suzuki vs. SATOMI
The Excellent Blades vs. La Familia
Golden Tiger vs. Harley Brooks We're straight back into standard Phoenix Rising procedure here: kicking off the show, the official Proving Ground debut of Virginia Caldwell (her tag partner, Fiona Walsh, will certainly follow close behind, likely at episode 102). Virginia's first match will be against fellow Academy graduate Keiko Maeda... and Keiko will have a chance to show the newcomer exactly how Proving Ground is different from the Academy, as well. Wild and Wilde made their official debut before Sky's the Limit, in a losing effort against the former Proving Ground Tag Team Champions. This match might be just as rough on the young Academy graduates, staring down the powerhouse duo of Aria and Christina... who are determined to make their mark on the tag division, one way or another. We have a new Top Prospect Champion for the first time in quite some time... and everyone wants a piece of Riccardo De Luca and his newly-won title. First to take the stage for the division will be the ferocious striking prowess of HAYATO taking on the showy power of Ziggy Rockefeller, as we look towards not just the Top Prospect, but the first rumblings of this year's Grand Ascension. We don't often see Rei Hasegawa in a singles role, but we're certainly getting a match from her this week, as she takes on one-half of White Hot's seemingly eternal rivals, Winter Fresh. Rei will square off with the Winter Kunoichi herself, Rin Ryusaki... can she keep up? Speed Dating is prepared to defend their titles at Proving Ground episode 103... and so, over the next two shows, we'll see plenty of action as we try to determine just who will get the chance. The Yoshida Twins have their eyes on the prize, but standing in their way is a team hungry to reclaim some gold after losing the titles in their home fed... Adrenaline Rush are ready to jump back into the fray and remind everyone just how good they really are. The colossal Norwegian behemoth has finally arrived. Making his debut on this show, Axel Halldorson will be tested straight out of the gate by Arthur Wright, who's picked up some spectacular victories as of late... but can he keep up his momentum after the break? Fresh Suzuki has continued to be one of Proving Ground's top talents, and she may be on the hunt for another reign as Inspire Champion, wanting to take on new champion Golden Tigress. SATOMI, however, is not a name anyone can look past... and she'll be certain to push Suzuki to her limits as both women aim to raise their stock. It comes as no surprise that the Excellent Blades are on the hunt for a rematch, hoping to win back their Proving Ground Tag Team Championships. Their first obstacle towards that goal will be another set of former champions: La Familia, Rey and Chico, prepared to go on another tear and bring the titles home for themselves. Closing out the night, the most hated man on Proving Ground steps into the ring against what may prove to be an overwhelming force: Harley Brooks has distinguished himself over the rest of the Midwest Initiative to become the standout singles competitor, and a win for Harley here could rocket him towards the front of the line for a shot at the Top Prospect... if he can get past the bastard that is Golden Tiger.

Showdown's back in action tomorrow night, and I finally have a card together. Showdown Episode 101
Angela Rothenberg vs. Titania
The Lightning Cyclones vs. Eri Sentarl and Chichi
Yuki Maeda vs. Blake Dynamite
Sanya Markov vs. Markos Andreas
Victor Kintelas vs. Celine Chevalier vs. Jessika Boom vs. Mallory Spaulding vs. Besos vs. Ruthless Nicole Alger vs. Kaelara Sentarl vs. Telan Kintelas
Angel Leblanc speaks
Rilantha De Nav vs. Kellaron Sentarl
The Heyward Sisters vs. The Muscle Machines
Silver Hawk vs. Kojiro Burai for the Pacific Northwest Championship
Plenty to look forward to on this one: much like Proving Ground, Showdown is looking for a tag team championship contender, and the Pacific Northwest division is looking to shuffle things up a fair bit with a massive battle royal. The title itself is defended in the main event... can Silver Hawk be the one to finally topple Kojiro Burai? And of course, the build to the Grand Ascension gets under way... with plenty of names looking to make their mark.
