Evergreen's looking to close out the year strong... with one show left in the tank for 2020, tonight seems to have set the stage for some big stuff. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/817115575Youtube: youtu.be/_YASK0CXZ88Quick Results Freya O'Malley def. Iris Coleman Kantar def. Skidmark eMo def. Oakland's Most Metal Babe Ruthless def. Jennifer Hunter Julian Shepard def. Logan Axelrod Kelly Wolfe and Victoria Fox def. KyO and Sabrina Mercy Devine def. Eternamente Verde Elly Blackwood won the battle royal to become the NEW Evergreen Champion Bonus Match: Riley Montgomery def. Andrea Hawke Write-ups Right from the start, these two brought it hard, with Iris pushing Freya into one of the tougher matches she's faced since her debut. But Freya dug deep for this one, and eventually landed a crushing Lionsault to pick up the win and keep her momentum hot. Skidmark held his own against one of Evergreen's toughest, as Kantar found himself far from dominant in this match. Still, he eventually managed to pick things up, and as stubborn as Skidmark was here, Kantar finally put this one away and picked up a much-needed win, though perhaps not one that'll get him much attention at the top. This match went very, very badly for the Oakland crew. A wild brawl continued to break down throughout the match, but Luci managed to take Rebecca Andrews out of action with a brutal Mandible Claw... seemingly putting the Chicago native out cold, and leaving Veronika and Sayaka to try and salvage things. They couldn't manage it, though, as while Sayaka dealt with Crimson Romance on the outside, Veronika nearly got her head taken off by Penelope Lea, and from there, it was only a matter of time before Sayaka fell to the three-on-one assault, eventually winding up laid out from a slingshot chairshot and giving eMo the resounding victory. This was all Babe Ruthless. Jennifer Hunter never got it going against her, and Babe had her way throughout, eventually locking in a brutal Full Nelson camel clutch, and forced Jennifer to give in, making it very clear that Babe might be rising to a new level. This was not the Julian Shepard that we've seen struggling throughout 2020. This was the man that held the Evergreen Championship, the man that, for a brief time, stood at the very top of the company. He stepped up big-time against Logan Axelrod, though he certainly had to work hard to get this win, and Logan did not roll over for him. There may be no doubt at this point that Kelly Wolfe and Victoria Fox might be the best team in Evergreen. The only teams that may have a claim to being better are two monstrous duos in the Demons and the Bingo Hall Mutants... and the current tag team champions, El Verde. But even then... Kelly and Victoria were absolutely at their best tonight, showing incredible teamwork en route to a big win over KyO and Sabrina, with Victoria putting KyO down after a German Suplex straight into the corner. This might've been the single most dominant match of Mercy Devine's career. She absolutely ripped into Verde, never giving the luchadora a chance to recover, and a Devine Intervention put this one away in a hurry, perhaps making it clear that Mercy was in a hurry to get to the all-important main event. And what a main event it was. Five of Evergreen's finest entered the ring tonight, and four went home empty-handed... a reign that's lasted over a year came to an end, as Sookie fell third, crushed under the sheer weight of a splash from Concrete Pete. She gave a parting shot to Elly Blackwood on her way out, but even that extra bit of offense wasn't enough to stop the seemingly-inevitable... The Invincible would ultimately land a vicious lariat and take Pete down, capturing the Evergreen Championship and finally standing tall at the top... something that most have been expecting ever since she stepped into an Evergreen ring. And just to add a little extra on top, Riley Montgomery arrived for a bonus match... despite being officially signed to AFW, she's made one thing clear, she'll continue to show up in Evergreen as long as Freya O'Malley's on their roster. Andrea Hawke stepped forward to face her, but quickly came to regret the challenge, as Riley was an absolute machine in this one, showing exactly why she might be one of the brightest prospects in the entire Phoenix Rising organization... Elly Blackwood "My first experience in Evergreen came back in June of 2019. Just about a year and a half ago, now. My first match was against none other than Young Blood... I was the first one to knock him down, the first to put him away and halt his momentum, if only for a little while. Right after that, I turned my attention to the one man I had the most history with: Kevin Royce.
"In the year and a half since I made my Evergreen debut, I've only built my reputation even higher. I'm not called 'Invincible' for nothing. I've weathered some of the toughest wrestlers in the world, I've fought some of the most terrifying forces ever to step into an Evergreen ring. And yeah, I haven't always come out on top. Young Blood got his win back not long ago, not that it mattered in the end. But one thing always slipped through my fingers. The moment I earned a shot at the Evergreen Championship... I waited, I watched. But Mercy told me, as Strawberry Sookie's reign went on, and on, and on... she had a plan. But I'd have to keep waiting for my shot.
"Now I really get what she was after. Thing is, if she really wanted the title change so goddamn badly, I could've taken my shot anytime, one-on-one. You really think I would've blown the opportunity? You really think I'd get this far and fall short? Doesn't matter, in the end. Because I stepped into that ring with four other wrestlers, I walked into that ring as the toughest, most dangerous person in that match... and for anyone that wants to tell me I'm wrong about that, then let me remind you where the Evergreen Championship is right now: draped over my shoulder, where it belongs.
"Kevin Royce, when I first got here, said I didn't belong. That I was an outsider, that I had no business in an Evergreen ring. A year and a half later, I don't hear anyone saying that I don't belong here. I don't hear a single voice rising up to tell me that I'm not 'hardcore' enough for Evergreen, that I can't live up to the style that Evergreen's brought since it began. I'm no outsider, not anymore. Nobody can tell me that. This is an opportunity I've been waiting for all my life... and now, there's no more doubt in anyone's mind.
"I am the Evergreen Champion. I am the most dominant, dangerous force that Evergreen Federation Wrestling has ever seen. And if there's anyone on this roster that thinks they're better, then you're welcome to take your shot, anytime, anywhere. I've already told Mercy that I'm willing to take my first defense of the title at New Year's Bash... I don't care who it's against, I don't care how she decides it. But I swear, I'll fight as often as I can muster to make this title the most prestigious, the most valuable prize in the entire Pacific Northwest."

We're just charging towards the new year, now. The last show for November, and then we go wild to close out the year. Gary Gear vs. Hugo Dirksen
The Yoshida Twins vs. The Rising Storm
Mercedes Ortega vs. Leona Sterling
Riccardo De Luca vs. Avery Adonis Alexander
Rilantha De Nav vs. Golden Tiger
Christina Wagner vs. Nicole Blade
Akira Ryusaki vs. HAYATO
The Gallego Twins vs. Arthur and Amber Wright
Nick MacLeod vs. Sanya Markov, #1 Contender's Match So how do we kick off the show? With none other than Gary Gear squaring off with the Dutch suplex artist that is Hugo Dirksen. Hugo's had a rough time of it lately, not quite living up to his usual talents, but against Gear, he may have a strong chance to bounce back... if Gear doesn't crush him with raw power, first. The Yoshida Twins are not taking their previous defeats lightly. Individually, they lost to the Rising Storm, but together, they'll seek to get their vengeance against the most decorated team in Phoenix Rising. It won't be an easy task, though, even for the Yoshidas. Mercedes Ortega is a quickly-rising star, when it comes right down to it, scoring some huge wins and looking like the future of Proving Ground. But this week, standing in her way is none other than Leona Sterling, who's distinguished herself well as of late, even if she hasn't always pulled off the victory. Riccardo De Luca now has his sights set higher. This week, he's facing off against the other half of the Muscle Machines... and Avery Alexander likely doesn't think too highly of the young upstart. Riccardo, though, is easily the most dynamic wrestler that Phoenix Rising has ever seen... and his speed might be too much for AAA to take. Rilantha De Nav might be surging back to her former greatness. Despite losing to Nick MacLeod last time around, she looked far from outmatched, and now she seems poised to remind the roster just how good she really is... but against Golden Tiger, who's constantly been a dangerous threat, does she have enough to keep him down? Two powerhouses prepare to clash here, with Nicole Blade finding another major threat to her claim as the strongest woman on Proving Ground. Christina Wagner is easily a match for her in terms of pure strength... but Blade has the experience edge, and could make this one a real tough fight. We could be seeing a major Japanese rivalry brewing with this one. To be quite honest, I don't know whether these two have crossed paths yet... (and I'm a bit too lazy to look it up)... but there's no doubt that both men have a bright future, and this could very easily lead into a major showdown between the Ryusaki and Tachibana families... not to mention Fresh Suzuki as part of Winter Fresh. We're closing out the night with some serious contests, starting with a tag team match pitting the top two teams of recent weeks against each other. The Gallego Twins have been an exceptional team, ever since they debuted back in April, but make no mistake, Arthur and Amber Wright have been perhaps just as good over the past couple of months... this could decide who goes on to face La Familia at New Year's Bash, but there's always the chance one more team might distinguish themselves between now and then. Finally, a firm #1 contender's match pits the two toughest powerhouses on Proving Ground against each other. Nick MacLeod, the Scottish beast, fresh off of a huge win over Rilantha De Nav, takes on the Russian monster that is Sanya Markov, who's looked absolutely revitalized since the Grand Ascension. The winner gets their shot at Victor Kintelas and the Top Prospect Championship at New Year's Bash... who will get that opportunity?

Another match takes shape for the big New Year's show... we're getting closer. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/821611965Youtube: youtu.be/J6CziwbC1PwQuick Results Hugo Dirksen def. Gary Gear The Yoshida Twins def. The Rising Storm Mercedes Ortega def. Leona Sterling Riccardo De Luca def. Adonis Avery Alexander Rilantha De Nav def. Golden Tiger Nicole Blade def. Christina Wagner HAYATO def. Akira Ryusaki Amber and Arthur Wright def. The Gallego Twins Sanya Markov def. Nick MacLeod to become the #1 Contender for the Top Prospect Championship Chico Con Carne def. Nic Nitro Write-ups A match that Gear seemed to have under control, most of the time... but he was constantly sabotaged by his own tag partner on the outside, whose interference rarely helped Gear and instead favored Hugo. The Dutchman took advantage of this fact, and eventually was able to lock in the Cattle Mutilation to pick up the big win. This might be the best way to recall that the Yoshidas are far, far more dangerous as a team than they are separately. This was a fight to the finish, but Shiori was able to catch Xiu Mei Li in a vicious suplex-into-armbar combination, pulling off maybe the biggest win of their young careers. Mercedes Ortega remains maybe one of the best in the Inspire division. She handled Leona Sterling with ease here, her speed and agility simply too much for Leona to handle. Riccardo De Luca's unbelievable agility was on display once again, along with the dysfunctional team that is the Muscle Machines... with Gear returning the favor towards AAA after his earlier sabotage attempts. Riccardo would finish this one in wild fashion, a jawbreaker leading into Rolling Thunder, followed up with a standing twisting moonsault, scoring him the win. The Golden Ambush did not do themselves any favors with the crowd tonight, with both Reina del Tigre and Golden Tigress making nuisances of themselves, constantly distracting referee Ruben Bosch, and doing their best to keep Tiger in the match and preventing Ril from getting a foothold. But the veteran finally seemed tired of giving an inch to anyone... and she finally managed to lock in the Anaconda Vice, with Ruben quickly calling the near-instant submission and leaving the Ambush frustrated. Nicole Blade once again puts her raw power on display, and makes it clear that no woman on Proving Ground can match her in that field, not even Christina Wagner. She was dominant here, and made it clear that she may be aiming higher once again... perhaps for the Inspire Championship once more in 2021. These two absolutely ripped into each other right from the start, making it seem as though there were some serious bad blood between the two Japanese stars. HAYATO was busted open early on, with Akira aiming to put the match away early, but HAYATO steadily battled back, returning the favor and turning this into a vicious bloodbath before he locked in the familiar Tachibana Rings of Saturn to finish the roaring comeback victory. Once again, Amber Wright's strategy and technique win the day, overcoming the Gallego Twins with a flash roll-up and taking one step closer to staring down the reigning tag team champions, La Familia. A seriously vicious brawl between two major powerhouses, but Sanya Markov is a new man since the Grand Ascension... and he'd ultimately come out ahead, driving Nick MacLeod down face-first into the mat in brutal fashion, and setting himself up for a clash against Victor Kintelas at New Year's Bash. A demanded encore led to one-half of the tag champs coming out... and led to Chico Con Carne taking on Adrenaline Rush's Nic Nitro. And once again, we got a glimpse of why Chico's such a dominant force in the ring, and why La Familia have stayed tag team champions through some difficult defenses. Two Chico Destroyers led to Chico pulling off a major victory.

Following Adonis Avery Alexander's match, from the Muscle Machines's locker room: Gary Gear: You botched up my match!
Adonis Avery Alexander: And then you had to be a little baby and intentionally cost me mine, when I could have put a stop to that little flippy geek's hype train.
Gear: But you just had to show up right when I had that won! I coulda beat Hugo! I was pumped up and throwing down!
AAA: Maybe if you didn't flex every time you had him down, you wouldn't be complaining. Really, it was disgusting. No proper technique, no aesthetic, just the same boring Cro-Magnon style, bulk size, and a stupid shout. You want to know why I stepped in like that, there is your answer. I simply couldn't tolerate your horrible posing any more.
Gear: Hah! You kept trying to show off those average biceps of yours, and look where that got you!
AAA: I have reached perfect proportion and function, in addition to having extraordinary definition without the obscene degree of vascularity or bloating that your illicit compounds created in your chemically created frame. I, on the other hand, could model for a classical statue. Average? My biceps are in perfect harmony with the rest of my genetically superior self.
Gear: Get over yourself! You screwed me out of my win! But I got you back!
AAA: And your point is?
Gear: Next time we team, we don't try to make each other lose, 'cause we got nothing to get back at! We're even, again! Let's get back at this, and max out what we got here! Singles, tag, we gotta crush it!
AAA: Whatever...
Gear: You always say that! But are we together on this? You got my spot here?
AAA: I would prefer not to blow out my back spotting your ridiculously overloaded reps.
Gear: Come on!
AAA: But as irritating as you are, I suppose we're a team. Win, or, as usual, lose.

Showdown coming up on Monday, and a big week for the entire organization with AFW following on Thursday as well. We'll just start with the Showdown card though, for now. Cassandra Marshall vs. Blake Dynamite
The Limbtakers vs. Angel Leblanc and Celine Chevalier
Layla Al-Amin vs. Todd Colton
Telan Kintelas vs. Yuki Maeda
Haruka Matsura vs. Natasha Clover vs. Besos
Fenix Oscuro vs. Listalva Anne Heyward
Urani Whitemist and Laenara Kintelas vs. Pure Gold
Eri Sentarl vs. Victor Kintelas
Selisha vs. La Relampaga for the Pacific Northwest Championship Kicking things off this week, we still have no sign of Lance Marshall after walking away with the Pacific Northwest Championship (now held by La Relampaga), but his sister's certainly still around and looking to make an impact. One thing's very clear: Blake Dynamite and Mascara Avispa have their sights set on the Phoenix Rising Tag Team Championships held by Lance and Cassandra, and this could set the stage for a major war at New Year's Bash. The Limbtakers are back as a team here, and squaring off with the leader of Les Beautes Blondes and her knight... as Celine Chevalier seeks to redeem herself in the eyes of Angel Leblanc, after a disastrous battle royal that saw her eliminate fellow LBB member Revon Beauregard only to be promptly wiped out herself. But a failure here could mean dire consequences for the young knight... Todd Colton, still frustrated over falling short of challenging for the World Championship once again, seems determined to make his way back to the top by any means necessary, and that means challenging anyone and everyone else in the World Championship division, starting this week with the Cairo Cyclone. Layla Al-Amin, though, remains easily one of the top talents in the world right now, still holding one-half of the Pan-African tag titles alongside Esi Dogboe, along with teaming up with the Lightning Luchadora here on Showdown. Todd will have his hands full with this matchup, no doubt about that. Telan Kintelas has found himself lost in the shuffle again as of late... with the rest of the Kintelas family taking center stage more and more often. A niece that holds the world championship, a nephew holding the Top Prospect title, and his brother locked in a suddenly-bitter rivalry with Shiana Sentarl... but Telan's not sitting idle, and indeed seems to be entering into the fight against Vindication as he takes on Yuki Maeda, who's found herself struggling badly as of late. A three-way battle here, as three of the top contenders for the Pacific Northwest Championship look to be the next in line to take on the winner of the main event. Haruka Matsura would love to elevate the Malevolent Triad to new heights... and serve as a backup in case Selisha falls short in her challenge. But Natasha Clover will surely be looking for her fourth run with the title, and Besos remains the wild-card, always capable of stunning her opponents with a major victory... The Triad continues to harass the Sentarl-Heyward alliance... with Fenix Oscuro scoring a win over Anari Lynn Heyward last episode, she now turns her attention to Queen Anne, seemingly implying that the Triad intends to rekindle their war against the Little Phoenix by targeting her friends and family. But Listalva has always been a dangerous opponent for anyone who gets in her way... and this may be a tough test for the Dark Phoenix. The World Champion returns to the ring after a few weeks of silence, stepping back out alongside wife and partner Urani Whitemist, and squaring off with Vindication's Pure Gold. It's unlikely that it'll be left at that, though... with the war between Kileas and Vindication boiling over, expect a presence from both Kileas and Shiana at ringside. Eri Sentarl continues to prepare herself for the biggest match of her life... having started with the submission artist that is Sophia Moretti, she now aims to get a deeper picture of what she's in for as she takes on the champion's brother. Victor Kintelas isn't likely to hold anything back here, as he prepares for his own showdown at New Year's Bash against Sanya Markov. Ending the night, the Pacific Northwest Championship is back to normal, with the new champion, La Relampaga, set to take on the Malevolent Triad's Selisha. The Naga Queen has perhaps been the Triad's top name from day one, outshining both Haruka and Oscuro more often than not, but does she have what it takes to shut down the dynamic Lightning Luchadora?

There's only one Showdown left in 2020. Mind-blowing. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/829719588Youtube: youtu.be/rlBKB83325gQuick Results Cassandra Marshall def. Blake Dynamite Angel Leblanc and Celine Chevalier def. The Limbtakers Layla Al-Amin def. Todd Colton Telan Kintelas def. Yuki Maeda Haruka Matsura def. Natasha Clover and Besos Fenix Oscuro def. Listalva Anne Heyward Urani Whitemist and Laenara Kintelas def. Pure Gold Victor Kintelas def. Eri Sentarl Selisha def. La Relampaga to become the NEW Pacific Northwest Champion Kyle Anderson def. Terra Marshall Write-ups Straight into the action, Cassandra Marshall and Blake Dynamite went move-for-move clear to the end. While Cassandra was in charge in the early goings, Blake came back hard, but a Demonkiller from Cassandra that landed dead-center in the ring put this one to a resounding end. Celine Chevalier would not be embarrassed a second time, after her disappointing showing in the battle royal her last time out. She was the anchor of her team tonight, eventually popping off a Falcon Arrow to pin Candace and take the win over the Limbtakers, likely putting her back into Angel's good graces. Todd Colton might not have been prepared for this match (a bad sign ahead of his upcoming Lariats and Legislators match against GPC)... the Cairo Cyclone was in rare form tonight, a relentless torrent of offense keeping her well in charge, and landing a huge cannonball senton to score the win. Telan Kintelas may be shedding his old reputation and becoming the monster people have always known he could be. Meanwhile, Yuki Maeda continues to struggle, perhaps needing to figure something out or simply retire... and Shiana couldn't have been happy watching this one play out. Haruka Matsura kicked off an excellent night for the Malevolent Triad, building on the success they had two weeks ago. This was a wild brawl, but Haruka would eventually lock her brutal submission in on both Natasha and Besos, and scored the win... and remained #1 contender for the Pacific Northwest Championship. Immediately following that victory, Fenix Oscuro went to war against Queen Anne, and did not disappoint for a second. Listalva gave the Dark Phoenix everything she had, but simply couldn't put Oscuro away, falling victim to a 450 Splash, and giving the Triad their second win of the night. Faced with perhaps the most dangerous duo in Phoenix Rising, Pure Gold still rose to the challenge, giving Urani Whitemist and Laenara Kintelas everything they could handle... but the Titan would simply not be denied, nor outmuscled, as she wrenched Mallory into a brutal bearhug to finish the job. Eri Sentarl has reached a new level as of late... and while she didn't come away with the win over Victor Kintelas, she made this one a fight to the finish, with both Eri and Victor popping right back up after some of the biggest moves both were able to throw out. It was only chance that let Victor seal this one, catching Eri mid-swing with another brutal cutter, and getting the win over the Little Phoenix. La Relampaga was nowhere near ready for this onslaught. Selisha was in no mood to hold anything back, and she absolutely wiped Relampaga out, ultimately catching her in a rana-bomb and capturing the Pacific Northwest Championship for the Malevolent Triad... And just to close out the night on a somewhat more impressive note (not that watching Selisha crush Relampaga wasn't impressive!), AFW's Terra Marshall came by for one more match, taking on Kyle Anderson and putting on a show. These two hosses went hard at each other, but Kyle's experience ultimately won out over Terra's more raw power, landing the Five Star Combination and forcing Terra to tap out. Fenix Oscuro <The year is drawing to a close... the Malevolent Triad is stronger than ever. Selisha holds the Pacific Northwest Championship, Haruka stands next in line to claim it... and I have claimed victory over the Heyward Sisters, who I know are close to you, Little Phoenix. Focus on your World Championship... I insist that you win your match at New Year's Bash. I insist that you win that World Championship... because on the final Showdown of the year, I will destroy the third member of your team, your family, your very blood... Kaelara Sentarl, you are next to fall to the power of the Dark Phoenix. And once Eri has claimed the World Championship, I will complete my conquest of your alliance. I will end this battle, crush Eri beneath the might of the Triad... and you will never, ever forget who left you broken. You will be left with nothing... nothing but the knowledge that you failed, that you fell to Fenix Oscuro, once and for all.>

Mascara Avispa: "Ah, man. Credit where credit's due - Cassie, you did good out there! Real good. I kinda wish I could've been out there to give Blake some support, maybe hash out a gameplan and call some audibles, but really, I didn't wanna give any unfair advantages, or anything. If your blood isn't gonna get off his ass and take a flight up north, then I'm not going to play the numbers game or anything like that with my brother from another mother (and father).
"Speaking of brothers. You've been awfully quiet since you fucked off back to Houston, Lance! Enjoying your break there, pal? While Cassie's out there busting her ass, and while Terra puts on a classic with Kyle Anderson, what are you doing, huh? Grabbing some BBQ? Throwing back a few beers? Or are you polishing up those titles of yours, maybe? If so, I really appreciate it, well and truly - that way once I get a few pounds of gold off your shoulder, it'll be looking its best. I didn't really want this to be personal, but, see, Firehawk gave me a chance to show everyone what I can do, and get the latest generation of top guys to the level they're at now. Todd Colton's an annoying prick - but he's good enough that you can't just write him off as a nobody. Layla Al-Amin? Someone I gotta watch out for if I want to still be considered the G.O.A.T. Blake Dynamite? Well, no shit I'm gonna think my tag partner's on my level - why else would we be taking on duos that have been together for way longer... and winning?
"When you badmouth the rest of the roster fighting for that PNW championship, and the people who've fought their way up to the top of the mountain from there, I'm going to take the attitude you've shown as of late a bit personally. These guys are my peers, whether we're friends or enemies. And even though I've only got a couple more years of experience on them, they're stars I helped along the way to get to where they are now. And for all that Phoenix Rising has accomplished for the last three years with you at the apex, when you stole that PNW title for yourself, rather than defending it every week like a real man, you've gone and thrown it all in the trash, just like that. That's why I'm not just asking for you to bring me back down to the Lone Star State - no no no, I'm demanding that contract with AFW. And what you'll see when - and not if - I make my way back there? Well, it might be a bit different from what you expect. Like I said - I don't want this to be personal, but your radio silence and disrespect made it that way. More than just beating you, I wanna school you in the ring. I'm gonna run circles around you. And if I have to go through an entire army to get to you, then, fine. The clock's ticking, so if you wanna shut me up and show that you're a real man, well, the ball's in your court."

I think that puts us at a good a time as any to take a look at what's coming up on Thursday... and after that, perhaps a response? American Frontier Wrestling Episode 2
Maya Minh Sai vs. Allison Avery
Mason Hayes vs. Nathan Haines
Carmen Latour vs. Riley Montgomery
Dominic Stanton vs. Ryan Donovan
Wanted: DOA vs. Sung Moon and Diosa Syringa
Terra Marshall vs. Ian Robinson
Johnny Rocket vs. Mascara Avispa
Cassandra Marshall vs. Georgia Eagles
Lance Marshall vs. Jackson Shaw Kicking off the show sees Maya Minh Sai looking to build on her debut victory last month over Sung Moon, while Allison Avery seeks to bounce back from her loss to Diosa Syringa. Both women looked strong in their first AFW matches, but this clash may set the stage for something big... can the Lariat Queen of Little Rock reclaim her reputation? The big man, Mason Hayes, was victorious in the first-ever match AFW held, defeating Ryan Donovan in a brawl that truly set the tone for what AFW is all about. Nathan Haines, meanwhile, went to war with Jackson Shaw, and although he fell short to the Tennessee native, he still looked every bit the potential rival to owner Lance Marshall... but Nathan will need to be better than that if that's his goal. Mason cannot be overlooked here: much like Concrete Pete of Evergreen, Mason's a beast beneath the bulk. The Cajun Spitfire steps into the ring with maybe one of the most devastating talents signed to AFW in Riley Montgomery. Riley's been a spectacular sight everywhere she's gone, from her all-out war against Freya O'Malley to her dominant victory over Andrea Hawke at last month's Evergreen show, Riley could have a huge breakout moment to close out the year... and with AFW rumored to be introducing more championships before long, Riley could be at the front of the line. Dominic Stanton scored maybe one of the most impressive wins of the night last month when he took down the powerhouse that is Georgia Eagles. This month, though, is a different animal: Ryan Donovan has his eyes on a victory this time around, and his mixture of dangerous striking and vicious power could prove the decisive edge he needs to bring Stanton down. This month's tag team showdown sees Wanted: DOA stepping into the ring again, as the only truly "established" tag team outside of the Marshalls... but it seems like Diosa Syringa, not exactly having access to her usual partner in Emma Travers, has turned her sights towards another potential ally in Sung Moon. Can this new duo stand up to one of Wrestle Parade's finest teams? Terra Marshall, fresh off of an instant classic with Kyle Anderson on Monday night, returns back home to Houston just three days later to take on another powerhouse in Ian Robinson. For as young as Terra is, she's already making a name for herself, and was a large part of the victory over Wanted: DOA last month alongside Cassandra... but can she measure up to Robinson's intense wrestling ability? It's almost certainly official at this point: Mascara Avispa is signed to AFW, and no doubt his issues with Lance Marshall could very well take over two feds at once, with Blake and Avispa set to challenge the Wild West at New Year's Bash. On this show, however, he's stepping into the ring with Johnny Rocket, in a match that's almost guaranteed to be an instant classic, with two of the best high-flyers in the world squaring off. Cassandra Marshall is now seeing herself without any limits. She's been absolutely on fire these past few months, perhaps one of the best around, and she's determined to make that even clearer as she takes on Georgia Eagles... but does she really have what it takes to topple the Oklahoma powerhouse? Finally, capping off the night, a match that almost seems like Lance demanding that Jackson Shaw prove himself in the biggest way possible. Jackson's easily looked like the #2 right behind Lance himself with his record, but could easily surpass the big man right here... but Lance is not a man that's willing to allow anyone past him without a fight. Lance Marshall "Whole hell of a lot to talk about, looks like... Avispa's talkin' tough, Jackson's gunnin' for my head, the world wants to know... why would I do the things I did? Walkin' away with the Pacific Northwest Championship only to tell y'all that what matters ain't your title... it's mine. The Spirit of Texas Championship, the flagship of AFW... a title that ain't gonna be bouncin' around like a goddamn pinball week after week, month after month, no. Just look at Monday night. Another title change, another one. Not a single one of ya' has any intention of being a champion, staying a champion. Y'all can prove me wrong anytime you want, but until ya' do, just try and tell me I'm wrong... 'cause I ain't, and you know it.
"Mascara Avispa wants to call me out for not showin' up on Phoenix Risin' lately... I've been settin' things up down here. I ain't sittin' on my ass watchin' the world go by. You'll get your look at me, Avispa, on the 31st, same as everyone else watchin' up there. You'll get your shot at me again, tryin' to take those Phoenix Rising Tag Team Championships off Cassie and me... do I think you 'n' Blake got a shot at it? Hell, everyone's got a shot. But I can damn sure guarantee that if I get my way... this belt stays right where it's at.
"But I'll give ya' one thing, Avispa. You're too damn good to ever look past. People callin' you a livin' junior legend already. Maybe they ain't far off the mark. But if there's one thing that holds ya' back... it's that little 'junior' bit. You're good. Hell of a high-flyer, incredible talent, maybe the best there is at what you're doin'. But when they talk about the best of the best, they don't call 'em 'juniors', or 'heavyweights', or 'the best of the women'... they're just 'legends', no qualifier, nothin'.
"So I'm watchin' real close, Avispa. I'm watchin' every match you're in, I'm listenin' to every word you say. Because I didn't get this far by treatin' people lightly. And if you want to take a shot at the top, if you want to be the man that stands at the absolute pinnacle of AFW... then you better not miss. One stumble, one mistake... and I send you crashin' back down to earth."

That's all for AFW in 2020 (outside of their big match at New Year's Bash), but 2021 is fast approaching and the new fed isn't slowing down a bit. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/833227436Youtube: youtu.be/Lv2j538Y3jMQuick Results Maya Minh Sai def. Allison Avery Nathan Haines def. Mason Hayes Carmen Latour def. Riley Montgomery Ryan Donovan def. Dominic Stanton Diosa Syringa and Sung Moon def. Wanted: DOA Ian Robinson def. Terra Marshall Johnny Rocket def. Manny Ramos (wait what) Cassandra Marshall def. Georgia Eagles Lance Marshall def. Jackson Shaw Hana Brightly def. Emma Travers (HAPPY BIRTHDAY) Write-ups Once again, Maya Minh Sai goes into a match as seemingly the underdog, and manages to gut out a win in the end, fighting through Allison Avery's lariats and scoring a stunning victory... with her AFW record now standing at 2-0, it seems something big might be on the horizon for the Vietnamese-American technician. Nathan Haines had something to prove tonight, but Mason Hayes wouldn't be moved so easily. This was an all-out brawl to the finish, both men tearing into each other without any hesitation, but Haines would eventually seal the deal as he sent Mason clear across the ring, slamming into the opposite turnbuckle and picking up the win. In what I didn't realize was a rematch from Episode 1, these two did not disappoint... indeed, this match was better than their first encounter, with Carmen holding her ground far better and not going to the outside against Riley, and eventually letting her speed speak for itself, scoring the win to draw these two even with each other, and perhaps setting the stage for a new AFW rivalry. Ryan Donovan was at his best tonight, and even through Dominic Stanton's raw power, Donovan didn't let up, eventually hitting a brutal suplex into an armbar, forcing Stanton to tap out and picking up a huge victory. You'd hardly believe it was the first time Syringa and Sung Moon had teamed up, as they worked together quite well here, even coordinating with each other. Impressive teamwork led to Syringa lining up a Swanton Bomb, and scoring another victory in AFW. Maybe one of the best hoss matches of the year, Ian Robinson came out with a vengeance here, eventually overwhelming Terra and landing a crushing powerbomb to score the win, making it clear that he's not going to be easy for anyone to deal with going forward. We didn't get Mascara Avispa tonight... well, we sort of did, but rather than the brilliance and heroics of Avispa, we got a much nastier, ill-tempered man in Manny Ramos, the man beneath the mask. Johnny Rocket, though, didn't seem to care one bit about the new look, and made it very clear that he's a front-runner to be the face of AFW... but would he have what it takes to beat Lance Marshall? For the second time this week, Cassandra Marshall lands the Demonkiller in the perfect spot to score the win. This was a brawl, make no mistake, with Georgia Eagles throwing the smaller woman around, but Cassandra would simply not be denied... and the Demonkiller gave her a resounding victory, keeping her momentum hot as she prepares for her Phoenix Rising Tag Team Championship defense alongside Lance. Lance, for his part, was in no mood for anyone standing in his way, not even Jackson Shaw. Jackson might have looked like one of the best in AFW last month, but Lance made it very clear who the boss is, and why he's the inaugural Spirit of Texas Champion... make no mistake, Lance clearly made an example of Shaw here, and whoever challenges him for that title first had better watch out. One final bonus match took place as a birthday celebration for Hana, and this was, simply put, awesome. Emma Travers tried her best to score the submission victory with Surgical Precision, but Hana, even through the pain, fought on and eventually landed a flurry of offense that culminated in a diving double stomp, giving Hana the victory to end the night. Lance Marshall "I ain't gonna say I'm disappointed. Fact is, anyone that comes at me in this ring, anyone that comes after me here in Houston... you ain't got a chance in hell of beatin' me, or takin' this title from me. Don't matter what kind of powerhouse you are, don't matter how good you think you are, when it comes right down to it... there ain't anyone better between the ropes of an AFW ring than me. Now, I've seen four other people win both their matches so far here in AFW... one of 'em's Cassie, so she don't need to worry about anythin' but helpin' defend our tag titles at New Year's Bash. But the other three... Diosa Syringa, Maya Minh Sai, and Johnny Rocket... I think y'all earned your spots at New Year's Bash. A three-way matchup to determine who's challengin' for the Spirit of Texas Championship first. Winner gets me next month... but if you bring anythin' less than the best you've got, then you might as well stay home, because this title ain't goin' anywhere."

Mascara Avispa(?)When approached for comment, the normally masked Mascara Avispa responds with a thrown chair from one end of the backstage area to the other, a kicked trash can, and a whip back of his hair, frustration written all over his now-revealed face.
"What the fuck! How! I'm supposed to be better than that! This was supposed to be my answer to Lance saying, 'You're just a junior!' I'm supposed to be a 'living legend,' according to some of these people sitting behind their keyboards, and I go out there and get schooled like I barely got my first set of boots and trunks! So, what do you have to say, huh, Mr. Cameraman? You're on the payroll, so what's your hot fuckin' take? 'Without your mask, you're nothing!'? 'Maybe he's all talk after all!'? 'Is that the best Phoenix Rising's got!'? Spit it out, already!!" He grabs the camera lens and shakes it, before slapping it to the side.
"Damn it!! Damn it, damn it!!! ... Maybe I'm just getting too cocky. Maybe the boss-man's gotten into my head. Whatever - all I know is that I'm not going to run back under Shiana's skirt and hug her leg like she's my mommy getting ready to go talk some sense into who hurt her boy. I'm not going to go back to Seattle like a whipped dog and merely accept my place as 'just a junior' here, or in the PNW division. Maybe Lance was right about that - maybe it IS cursed and this is just the price I had to pay for keeping it warm for him. All that matters is that, now that I've lost twice in a row here, if that means it's back to square one here; if it means I'm gonna have to start from the very bottom eating shit, and then take out every single fucking meat-sack in this territory, I will. Even if it means that you don't see me as 'Mascara Avispa, junior heavyweight legend' anymore. Even if it means that every slack-jawed Texas redneck in the crowd night after night sees me as some traitor to the cause of the Lone Star State. But you know what? That's fine - this was never, never going to end happily. What's the saying? 'He who fights monsters'..."

Not much left for Proving Ground this year. Just two left... it's gonna be a wild ride to the finish. La Corsaria vs. Jessika Boom
The Muscle Machines vs. The Excellent Blades
Riccardo De Luca vs. Nick MacLeod
Shiori Yoshida vs. Anahera
Rilantha De Nav and Anna Bryant vs. The Golden Ambush
Naoko Yoshida vs. Xiu Mei Li
Arthur Wright vs. Chico Con Carne
Winter Fresh vs. The Gallego Twins
Sanya Markov vs. Hugo DirksenLa Corsaria returns to the ring for the first time since getting wiped out by Mercedes Ortega a few months ago. She'll look to get back into action against Jessika Boom here, and with any luck, won't be put right back on the shelf with a Dynamite Cutter...
The Muscle Machines are back in action together, as they take on the Excellent Blades in what seems like a matchup perhaps designed to get the Blades back up and running after falling short in their attempt to claim the tag titles from La Familia. But the Blades can't take this too lightly... as dysfunctional as the Machines are, they've proven time and time again that the moment you give them an inch, they'll take a mile.
Riccardo De Luca's wild run in Proving Ground continues here as he once again sets his sights on a bigger and tougher foe in Nick MacLeod. Riccardo's talents have been on display in every match he's had thus far, and he was a dynamic force against AAA last time out... but MacLeod could be the toughest opponent he's faced yet.
It seems the Yoshida Twins and the Rising Storm aren't done with each other yet, with the twins now trading off singles opponents from their last encounter, after defeating the Storm in tag competition. But with how badly their last singles matches went, can Shiori prove herself against the dangerous Maori warrior?
While Rilantha De Nav eventually defeated Golden Tiger one-on-one, it wasn't without a lot of struggle due to the influence of the Golden Ambush on the outside. Now, Ril is out for a proper match... and she's bringing along the #1 contender for the Inspire Championship along to face the Tigers in tag action. Rumor has it that Reina del Tigre won't be at ringside for this one... ensuring that these two teams will be able to settle the score without any shenanigans.
Naoko Yoshida has a tough night ahead of her, whether she manages to win this match or not. Xiu Mei Li has proven more than a few times that there's no opponent she's not capable of cranking into a brutal STF, and she will absolutely be looking to punish Naoko for the Rising Storm's defeat two weeks ago...
It's very clear now: the Wright Stuff have earned their place as #1 contenders for the Proving Ground Tag Team Championships, after a fantastic record over the past couple of months, and they will challenge La Familia at New Year's Bash. Arthur Wright, meanwhile, will gear up by taking on one-half of the champions in Chico Con Carne this week... expect both to be backed by their partners as they get ready to face off.
Fresh Suzuki could easily take some time off to prepare for her title defense against Anna Bryant, but that's simply not in her nature. The team of Winter Fresh will thus step into the ring with the Gallego Twins, ensuring that the Inspire Champion has two opponents she can work her fast-paced style with effortlessly... and expect a little surprise as well for this one.
Finally, the #1 contender for the Top Prospect Championship is more than eager to get his hands on Victor Kintelas at New Year's Bash... Sanya Markov has his sights set on gold, but Hugo Dirksen will look to bring the newcomer back down to earth and perhaps stake his own claim. While the championship match is locked in as a singles match, a win by Hugo here could give him the first right to challenge Sanya if he wins at New Year's Bash...

We're getting real close to the end here. 2020's starting to look like it's gonna go out with a bang. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/837957481Youtube: youtu.be/0H-pVEtN-9sQuick Results Jessika Boom def. La Corsaria The Excellent Blades def. The Muscle Machines Riccardo De Luca def. Nick MacLeod Anahera def. Shiori Yoshida The Golden Ambush def. Rilantha De Nav and Anna Bryant Naoko Yoshida def. Xiu Mei Li Chico Con Carne def. Arthur Wright Winter Fresh def. The Gallego Twins Sanya Markov def. Hugo Dirksen Write-ups La Corsaria's return to the ring didn't wind up being a successful one, as Jessika Boom was on top of her game here... fighting through multiple Shining Wizards en route to nailing a few big cutters, culminating in a proper Dynamite Cutter to pick up the victory. The Muscle Machines were, shockingly, all-in on teamwork this week, working like the Machines they declare themselves to be. Shame that even that wasn't enough, with the equally-impressive teamwork of the Excellent Blades coming into play, and ultimately, the Blade's Edge came into play and wiped out AAA, giving the Blades another strong win... they may not be tag champions, but they're still one of the best teams on Proving Ground. Big, small, what does it matter against Riccardo De Luca? Nick MacLeod is one of the biggest and baddest men that Riccardo's faced yet, and the New Hampshire native made it look easy here, roaring through this match at his usual break-neck pace, and finishing the job with a wild cartwheel Poison Rana to cement himself as maybe the fastest-rising star that Phoenix Rising has ever witnessed. No amount of Naoko's interference was going to stop Anahera from putting this match away. As much as Shiori held up against the Maori warrior, Anahera would eventually crush her with a spinning tombstone, and referee Hana Brightly saw the writing on the wall, counting the pin rather than entertaining Naoko's attempts to keep the match going. As tough as Ril's been lately, the Tigers were on top of their game here, and even with Anna Bryant's help, the Tigers eventually ran away with this one, Tigress laying out Ril with a Superkick and a standing SSP while Tiger distracted Anna to pick up the win. Naoko was not about to let the Rising Storm slip away with a sweep again this week... she was defiant throughout this entire match, with Shiori getting involved in clutch moments, until Naoko was able to turn the tables and snap Xiu up in a flash rollup, stunning the veteran and making it clear that the Yoshidas aren't going away anytime soon. Does anyone have what it takes to stop La Familia? Hell, does anyone have what it takes to stop Chico Con Carne? Chico's been absolutely one of the best in all of Phoenix Rising ever since winning the Big Impact Tournament, and capturing the Proving Ground tag titles alongside his brother... and he didn't let up for a second here, either, putting it into question whether the Wrights can stop the surging champions. Fresh Suzuki, reigning Inspire Champion, and quite festive wrestler tonight, was absolutely at her best in this match, with Winter Fresh simply on top of the world. The Gallegos did their best to slow them down, but Fresh simply would not be denied, and ultimately locked in a submission that forced Gabriela to tap out, and kept her looking strong ahead of her upcoming showdown with Anna Bryant. As well as Hugo did in this match, trying to wear down Sanya with his suplexes and armwork, the end felt inevitable. Sanya's brutal Red Crush finisher put a resounding end to this one, putting Hugo down and making it clear that Sanya may be the best challenger to take down Victor Kintelas as Top Prospect... but he's going to need to perform at New Year's Bash.

The final Showdown of 2020... and the flagship is going out with a bang. Ruthless Nicole Alger vs. Cassandra Marshall
Silver Hawk vs. Todd Colton
Les Beautes Blondes (Angel/Celine) vs. Layla Al-Amin and La Relampaga
Haruka Matsura vs. Selisha for the Pacific Northwest Championship
Telan Kintelas vs. Natasha Clover vs. Michelle Rochefort
Mallory Spaulding vs. Laenara Kintelas
The Heyward Sisters vs. The GOAT
Fenix Oscuro vs. Kaelara Sentarl
Eri Sentarl vs. The Black Dragon Kicking off the night, Cassandra Marshall continues to roll along in Phoenix Rising solo, with Lance not yet making his return to the main show... though he will be at New Year's Bash. Cassandra, though, will need to deal with the always-dangerous Ruthless Nicole Alger, as Candace Monroe will be fresh off of what's certain to be a vicious battle with Leona Sterling at Lariats and Legislators only a few nights prior... These two have faced off before, but they're right back into the mix with each other. When they last met, Silver Hawk came out the winner, but Todd will be out for vengeance... and with the self-proclaimed Best in the World left with no match on the 31st, who knows what might end up happening? One of the best teams in recent memory steps into the ring with a duo that's quickly gathering steam themselves... with Angel Leblanc and Celine Chevalier representing Les Beautes Blondes brilliantly as of late, while the incredible rising stars that are Layla Al-Amin and La Relampaga could very well be in line to be the next challengers for the tag titles... A Pacific Northwest Championship match this early? And between two members of the Malevolent Triad? Something's up with this, but perhaps the two allies will set out to prove who the better of the two really is... A three-way contest with Pacific Northwest division implications, putting the winner in line right behind Besos, perhaps the first challenger of the new year. Once again, Natasha Clover seeks to claim that top spot and fight her way back to the championship she believes is her right... but can she really push past Telan Kintelas and Michelle Rochefort in one night? The World Champion has seemingly stepped in line with her father... as Laenara Kintelas prepares to take on the hand-picked member of Vindication. Mallory Spaulding would love to pick up a major victory over the champion, especially with Shiana watching from ringside... but does she really have what it takes? Does anyone? The Heyward Sisters return to tag action this week, after separately falling to Fenix Oscuro one-on-one... and while they won't be taking on the Triad, they will be taking on one of the toughest teams imaginable, with the GOAT standing across the ring from them. Can they hold up against Kellaron and Victor? Fenix Oscuro has run through both of the Heyward Sisters... and now, her sights are set on the last of Eri's allies, her own sister, Kaelara. But we've seen in the past how dangerous Kaelara Sentarl can be when pressed... and Oscuro could be walking into a very, very tough situation, one that she may not be ready for. Finally, capping off the night... Eri Sentarl's preparation for the biggest match of her life culminates in something that may very well be the most insane challenge she's ever faced. She steps into the ring against the former World Champion... the woman who held that title for over a year and a half. The Little Phoenix will be tested like never before against one of the greatest monsters in Phoenix Rising history... Eri Sentarl "I know what everyone's thinking already, with the announcement of this week's card... that I'm getting in over my head, that I couldn't possibly be serious, why would I willingly put myself out there against the single most dominant force that's ever come through here?
You have to remember one thing... I'm not someone that backs away from a challenge. I'm not someone that ever wants to cower behind someone else. And if I'm going to prove that I can win this match at New Year's Bash, then I've got to push myself so far beyond anything I've ever done before... I've got to find a new level. And there's nothing like facing the Dragon that either brings the best out of you, or shows you that you're just not ready.
And I know, deep down, that I am ready for this. There's no more second-guessing it, whether I've 'earned' this chance, whether I 'deserve' to be there. I've shown over the last few months that I'm more than ready to take this challenge head-on. So I'm gonna say it right now: I'm going to win on Monday. I'm going to beat the Dragon, I'm going to go to New Year's Bash, I'm going to beat Laenara Kintelas, and I will be the new World Champion going into the new year. The very last image on Phoenix Rising airwaves for 2020 is gonna be the Little Phoenix holding up the World Championship... and you're never, ever gonna forget it."

The final Showdown of the year has wrapped up... all that's left is next week's New Year's Bash, for the main roster. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/845984796Youtube: youtu.be/UPytEpYbXHkQuick Results Cassandra Marshall def. Ruthless Nicole Alger Todd Colton def. Silver Hawk Layla Al-Amin and La Relampaga def. Les Beautes Blondes Telan Kintelas def. Natasha Clover and Michelle Rochefort Laenara Kintelas def. Mallory Spaulding The GOAT def. The Heyward Sisters Fenix Oscuro def. Kaelara Sentarl Selisha def. Besos to retain the Pacific Northwest Championship Eri Sentarl def. The Black Dragon Write-ups A hot opener that kept Cassandra Marshall looking dangerous as ever, handling RNA in a hard-fought battle... but the Cloverleaf variation that Cassie calls her own was enough to get the job done here, and now she looks forward to the Wild West's tag title showdown with the dangerous team of Blake and Avispa... the Dynawasps. Todd Colton either forgot he had this match coming, or didn't think it was worth any mention. Silver Hawk made him regret it, either way, giving him easily one of the toughest fights Todd's had since the Grand Ascension... but once again, the incredible standby of his Binding Suplex got the job done, for the second time in a row. Todd may not have won the Grand Ascension, but he may find himself in World Championship contention in the new year before long anyway... As tough as the duo of Angel and Celine have proven to be, there might not be any team in Phoenix Rising that's running hotter than Layla and Relampaga. Their speed and agility kept them in control here, and Layla would dizzy Celine with a Deja Vu headscissors, before landing a standing SSP to seal the victory, much to Angel's frustration. Haruka vs. Selisha... went, somewhat, as predicted. The match never "truly" happened... the bell rang, Haruka stepped out of the ring and made her way up the ramp... only to be interrupted by Besos, who shoved Haruka aside... and before the ninja could get back to the ring, Besos had locked up with Selisha, the naga queen managing to slip free and escape the ring, sharing what we assume was a withering glare towards Besos... the two would meet in a proper match later in the show, as a result... And so we moved to the three-way, suddenly a match to determine who would challenge for the Pacific Northwest Championship at New Year's Bash, rather than Showdown #70. And in this environment, it was all Telan. While Natasha was eliminated as Michelle caught her in a kneebreaker submission, Telan would follow up shortly thereafter by wrenching Michelle into a Torture Rack, sealing his spot on the New Year's Bash card... Mallory Spaulding brought her brutal array of suplexes to this match, trying to lay out the World Champion and claim a huge victory for Pure Gold and Vindication. But Laenara Kintelas did not get this far by being easy to bring down... and she was on fire here, ignoring the size difference between them and ultimately crushing Mallory with a Kintelas Driver, making it clear that she won't give up her title without a fight... not to anyone. Maybe two of the best teams we've ever seen in Phoenix Rising... and maybe one of the better tag matches, to boot. The Heywards and the GOAT were on top of their game tonight, with both throwing out everything in their repertoires against each other, looking for that big winning move. But Kellaron Sentarl, often seen as the one fading into the background behind Victor, reminded the crowd how dangerous he is in his own right, locking in the Omoplata Crossface late in the match on Anari, and securing the tapout to keep the GOAT looking their best. Could they find themselves next in line for a tag title shot? Fenix Oscuro has torn a path through all of Eri Sentarl's closest friends. The Heywards came first, and now, Kaelara has even fallen to the Dark Phoenix, ensuring that Eri will have to face her once more after the new year dawns... the question now is, will Eri face her hated rival as the World Champion? Or will it come off the heels of disappointment and heartbreak? Selisha anticipated an easy night in defense of her title. In hindsight... she might've been right. As good as Besos is, and as much as she managed to get in this match, Selisha was in charge here, and she relentlessly tore Besos apart, ending on a crushing Sky Twister that kept the Pacific Northwest Championship firmly around her waist... and with the Malevolent Triad, as a result. Things looked absolutely dire for the Little Phoenix in this match. She was landing her moves... getting her shots in, no doubt about that, but Dragon's power was quickly turning the tide, and an errant blow busting the young challenger open didn't help matters any. Bloodied, exhausted, her back to the wall... Eri was looking like she was completely done, that she might not even make it to her championship match with Laenara, things looked that bad for her. And then, just as it looked like the Dragon was about to lift her back up for the finishing blow, Eri came to life again. Perhaps living up to her name, the Little Phoenix roared to life one last time, and hit the finisher that is her namesake... the Little Phoenix, dead-center in the ring, and threw herself into a desperate jackknife pin... for the most stunning three-count of her career. Eri Sentarl can claim herself as one of the very, very few people in the world who have beaten the Black Dragon one-on-one. She's done what Laenara Kintelas had to do to win the Phoenix Rising World Championship. Can she do the same at New Year's Bash? Can the Little Phoenix truly reach her full potential and stand at the top of the mountain after all this time? Eri Sentarl Eri had wiped the blood from her face, though there was still a bandage wrapped around her head, the young woman still breathing hard... both from the exhaustion of the match, and the adrenaline that was still clearly coursing through her body. She was shaking... as if she hardly believed that she'd pulled it off at all, that she'd really heard that three-count, that she'd really, truly beaten the Dragon. "I'm ten days away... from the single biggest match of my entire life. I'm this close to pulling off the biggest win I've ever experienced... and it's never felt so close before. I had to prove to myself... that if Laenara could do something, then so can I. If I can't accomplish what she's done, then how am I supposed to beat her for the World Championship? How am I ever supposed to be able to call myself the best? I had to do it... I had to win, and... even knowing that, this barely feels real. I knew it wasn't going to be easy. I knew that, deep down, I might not actually be able to do it. There's always that hint of doubt in my mind that says... what if this is it? What if this is your limit? What if you can't go any further, what if you're in over your head?
I was laying there, near the end of the match... I know I wasn't concussed or anything, because I remember everything, I wasn't rattled, I was just... every part of my body was screaming at me to just stay down, it's over, you're finished. And I heard those words. I heard that... nagging voice in my head telling me, this is it, you can't get any further, you're never going to do this.
And just like that, I... I felt Dragon pull me up, probably to throw one last move out to finish the job. I was on my feet. That's all I need. If I can stand, then I can fight. I knew I was only going to get one more chance to do it. So I put... literally everything I had into it.
Lae's probably going to claim that desperation isn't gonna win the World Championship. And she'd be right. Desperation isn't gonna let me beat her. But I'm not going into New Year's Bash as a desperate challenger. I'm not going out there as some kind of scrappy underdog, not anymore.
Lae..."
Eri trailed off. She lifted her head... standing in the doorway, World Championship slung over her shoulder, was Laenara Kintelas. Their eyes met, and Lae offered up a small smirk. "You're right about one thing. I agree with you. Desperation won't let you beat me. You can't pull a move out of your ass and bring me down. But I'm going to remind you of something, Eri: my entire career has been based on success. On being the best of the best, every single time I go out there. I was the first Women's Champion in Phoenix Rising's history. I ended the longest championship reign anyone's ever gonna see in their lifetimes. I've taken on the toughest challengers, the best in the world, and I always... always come out on top in the end. Not even nearly breaking my fucking neck could keep me down for good. So when I see you in that ring next Thursday, Eri... if you're anything less than the best you've ever been... no, if you're not even better than that... then you're never going to take this title from me. You'll go right back where you started. Where you belong. Because from the very start... I've been the one who's reached my full potential, who's been everything that everyone expected me to be. And yours has gone to waste for three years. The past three months isn't going to change that."
"You're right about one thing. I haven't lived up to who I should be." Eri pulled herself to her feet... stepped forward, angled her head up to glare straight into Laenara's eyes as the champion looked down on her shorter challenger. "But what you've seen ever since the Grand Ascension is everything the Little Phoenix should've been all along. So it took me longer to get my shit together than you. Doesn't matter. What does matter is that I'm at your level now. And if you try to take me lightly, that title's as good as mine. So if you swagger into that ring on the 31st thinking you've already got it all wrapped up, then I'm gonna leave you staring up at the lights wondering what happened. I'm going to win that match. I'm going to be the next World Champion. And you can try to tear me down all you want... but I'm through playing the underdog. It's about time I lived up to every bit of hope anyone's ever had for me." Eri let her eyes trail to the championship... then back to Laenara, who was no longer smirking, but giving the Little Phoenix an icy glare. "I'll see you next week." Eri gave a firm nod, and pushed past Laenara out into the hallway...

We've got one more little taste of chaos to close out 2020... Evergreen's got one last show for the year, on Christmas Eve, no less... featuring a mini-tournament to decide who goes on to next week's championship match at New Year's Bash. Argent's looked far, far better since his return earlier in the year, but Kantar remains a mainstay of the Evergreen roster, and this could be his time to shine...
The other half of the tournament will see Concrete Pete aiming to take one more shot at the big time, but standing in his way will be the inaugural champion, Veronika Armstrong. Veronika's had trouble getting back that spark as of late, but she might have finally found her rhythm again... but can she really hold up against the big man?
While KyO and Sabrina haven't quite met with success yet, they'll be looking to turn things around against the arrogant Sheridan brothers, as Zack and Vincent try to rise through the ranks of the tag division. Still, they'll have to watch out: KyO and Sabrina might be two of the most underhanded wrestlers Evergreen has ever witnessed.
Eddy Introspect came achingly close to winning the Grand Ascension, and he's constantly been a presence at the very top of Evergreen. That makes it all the more interesting to Freya O'Malley, who seeks to push herself straight to the top... but could the young Irish-American be declaring war on Evergreen's most powerful and dangerous stable?
It's a battle of big men, though in very different ways: where Logan Axelrod stands tall, Skidmark stands wide. This match is almost certain to become an absolute war, and from what we've seen of Axelrod so far, he may be a future champion in the making...
No bonus matches for Riley Montgomery this time around: she's officially a part of the Evergreen roster now, in addition to her duties in AFW. And she's not hesitating to step into the ring with eMo's heavy-hitter in Penelope Lea. Riley's been beyond impressive in every match we've seen her in thus far, but Penelope has been the right hand to Strawberry Sookie for a long time now... and for good reason.
Mercy Devine once again keeps herself in a more "showcase" role here as she steps into the ring with Andrea Hawke... and although this won't be contested as a proper deathmatch, one has to expect that it's going to devolve into violence before long. Anticipate that both women will show up as though it were a deathmatch...
This could help get us closer to deciding who will challenge for the Evergreen tag titles after New Year's Bash. With Kelly Wolfe and Victoria Fox set to challenge next week, it seems likely that one of these two teams here might find themselves as the next challengers... and thus, Crimson Romance will surely stop at nothing to bring those titles back into eMo's fold.
This is the big one. The winners of Argent vs. Kantar and Pete vs. Veronika will face off within the confines of a steel cage... no escape, just pure, brutal violence to decide who earns the right to challenge Elly Blackwood at New Year's Bash. Evergreen will cap off its year with one hell of a brawl... but who will get this far, and who will dare to challenge the Invincible?
