Right on.
I'm trying very hard to wait for PSN's big December holiday sales to get this but with so many people in general talking about it, the temptation to get it immediately is pretty huge. Lol

Working my way through the legendary animal hunts. I've managed to bag the Grizzly bear, White Bison, Buck, Wolf, Ram and Moose so far. Been crafting some cool hats and talismans with their bits. The White Bison Hat and Jacket combined with the White Ram Chaps looks pretty badass in the snow.
Including the time to find the right locale, track and kill the animal, and ride back to sell their pelts to the trapper, the above 6 animals took me like 8 hours so far lol. I haven't played any story missions in days :P

I think I saw one of those hunts on twitter last week
I'd be lying if I said it didn't look like an homage to the Revenant xD

Something incredible is happening. It's really windy outside irl here tonight as I'm playing, and in game it's been wind and storm for almost a week in-game time now. I've never even had a weather pattern last more than like three minutes or something, and this has been going for ever. I haven't slept the whole time so it doesn't change cause it's awesome vibes, the animation riding around in it is cool, and finally getting to wear my duster, nice cinematic mode and otherwise screenshots woohoo I love this gaaammeee unpause

Haha I'm still on chapter 2. Too much time dicking around in town and hunting apparently...

I'm still dicking around in chapter 2 as well. I'm at the point where I'm about to give up on hunting though. I spent 4 hours yesterday trying to hunt for perfect pelts, and managed to get one deer and two rabbits, even with the buck trinket. I dunno why I suck at it so much, but there it is. There's pretty much no way I'll ever manage to get enough perfect pelts to get all the cool outfits and satchel upgrades. :(
I think the hunting system is unnecessarily complicated and fiddly. When the legendary animals are WAY easier to hunt than getting a 3 star raccoon pelt, there's something unbalanced. It's pretty much my only complaint at this point. Otherwise I'm still loving the world and the story.

So I finished the main story and epilogue so spoilers obviously lol I love the game, I really do, the areas, the gameplay, the overall story, so a solid 9/10, maybe even 9.5. So again before anyone reads below please understand I love this game and was very happy to see Beaver Hollow is basically Kentucky lol.
But
But
Thank god I am finished with the missions where they strip decisions out of your hand completely. O they'll toss you a A or B choice now again but overall if you do not perform as the story has been scripted you will fail.
- 14 US troops and a idiot racist Colonel open fire on you? Don't you dead eye the douche Colonel and kill him, instant failed mission. I mean he's literally shooting at you and you've taken larger groups but fight the urge to think for yourself.
- Want that new Shotgun you got for the next mission? Well tough Dutch tosses you a Double Barrel, and the shotgun was a gift from one of those random snake bite missions....so guess whats not waiting at your horse!
- Turn to shoot Micah in the face at the Beaver Creek showdown....with him clearly in game and available to shoot.....FAILED MISSION! I mean the guys only been fucking up Arthur's life and is literally trying to kill him now, why on earth would anyone try to shoot him.
-Arthur dies ( got the good ending where he fades away with the rising sun on the Mountain. ) so now You're John. It comes to the final, finale. It's time to kill Micah! Well not quite. The game has decided for you that when you finally square off against Micah you cant shoot him. O it's a showdown and he's there. I even dead eyed him and went to fire and he FUCKING WARPED TO ANOTHER BUILDING and began shooting with perfect aim.
But just wait there, defy everything you want to do and just wait and the cut scene will begin. Time for another Mexican Standoff. Dutch arrives, for some reason partnered back up with Micah. O but dont act, dont try to kill either one of them or it's a auto fail.....wait for all the talking to finish and Dutch shoots Micah so he can get out of this spot.
Then you finally get to finish off Micah. Lord Forbid John gets to avenge Arthur in a one on one duel......
Also I get he's the villain but I have a new found hatred for Dutch. I am seriously going to play RD 1 again just so I can gut shoot the prick and he can do his speech before falling off that cliff.

Though that might not jive with you're honorable character haha...

Deni, are you making sure to hit R1 while looking at the animal to bring up info on what weapon you need for the perfect kill? They're different for different animals. And check the compendium for more info on that too. Also, head or neck for one shot kills are often necessary to maintain perfect.
I stayed in chapter 2 for about a week, and felt like I had rushed when I made it to 3. But a lot of people online say 3 is actually the best spot to stay in forever cause you have chapter 2 tutorials done and access to most or all the activities in the game at that point.
I probably still would have liked to have spent more time in 2 just for the camp location alone. Gorgeous. (3 is beautiful as well, but something about Horseshoe Overlook speaks to me)

Got into a three-on-one brawl with Lemoyne Raiders in Rhodes. One of em busted out a knife. Arthur looked like a mess when it was all said and done, but by golly I beat em all with my bare hands (and the last one with bare forehead). Felt awesome after having struggled with fist fighting before, having been beaten in a similar situation before. Also, some crazy shit in the swamps. So I ride up to a cabin there and someone calls out to me to come on over. Big ol' boy, overly nice, his woman comes out, overly nice. No one has been acting like this anywhere in the world. They invite me in for some grub, I'm wary but go to see what's up.
I find bones in their dresser. They tell me it's their mother. They are siblings. And lovers. And are trying really hard to get me to drink their crazy ass moonshine. One shot let's me know something ain't right. I get up to leave, and decide to take their shit while I'm at it. The big fella raises up, I put him down. The woman screams and attacks me with a knife, I tie her up and leave her there while I rummage through the rest of the house, as she swears vengeance.
Some days/weeks later, I return. The house is empty, everything has been torn and taken out, guess she moved or it's been looted since. But I hear footsteps. Wtf there's a full on buck in the house. Just... walkin around. I lasso and knife it as a sacrifice/just in case it's the returning spirit of one or the other. Left it in the house and got out of there.

And check the compendium for more info on that too. Also, head or neck for one shot kills are often necessary to maintain perfect. Yeah, I'm using the right weapons and stuff, I just either don't have the patience to wait for the perfect opportunity or the skill to get perfect one shot kills. It also drives me nuts that when I'm riding on my horse in a hurry to get somewhere there's a million animals everywhere, bucks left and right, even smaller game literally getting trampled under the hooves of my horse....but when I actively go out hunting to try and find skins, I can't find animals anywhere. *shrugs* I'll just stick to the fishing, I'm much better at that :D
Anyways, I dunno if it's true or not, but I heard somewhere that once you finish the main story and get into the epilogue, you can just buy the satchel upgrades from the fences. That sounds like the way to go :P
Think I'll go plow thru some story missions to get to the Chapter 3 camp, maybe I'll have better luck with the hunting once I have the sniper rifle lol

Had a pretty intense staredown at Smithfield's Saloon in Valentine. Shot of whiskey in hand, greet the only other feller at the bar next to me. He looks at me but doesn't say anything. Take the shot of whiskey, follow up with "I said hello". He's looking, not a word. Order another whiskey. Hold it in my hand and turn to stare at him without another word. He's holding a whiskey, staring back, puffing chest out. Other people are starting to look and comment. We're shifting back and forth, it's getting unbearable. After what seems like forever, he up and near backs out of the saloon, cautiously walking away looking over his shoulder, beaten. I take the shot.
