OrochiGeese's OG-FPD: Of Lessons and Lutefisk (11/1)

That was exactly my goal. Let's start OG-Joshi on a happy and uplifting note!

It's a big change from how it was started by Geese to help Holly get even with Jo Ryder.

It's also a big change from the bittersweet "ending" that it had when Geese had to sell it to help Holly.

And I needed to give Jean her big moment that she was definitely dreaming of for eight years 😭

Honestly, it was easily one of my favorites RP's that I've ever written. I must have read that "Of Coaches and Quests" RP about 5-10 times in the past few weeks and really wanted to hit the right note for her return. 

Barton is still going to be very present in UBL storylines. His career is over as a wrestler but I have at least two specific roles for specified for him over the next few years.  Barton is the second wrestler I created for UBL back when I was setting it up in late 2006.  He goes out in battle as the Marauder in him would have wanted.

It was also something I've been hoping to do since 2011. From the second Robin retired, I just knew Ruby would hunt her. And when I brought UBL back, I have always built to this match, even if just in my head when I didn't know if I'd actually have Robin and Geese return.

I was a little disappointed in myself in not doing more with the build to the match throughout the year. I announced the match and the stipulations back in March and then kinda just let it lie in the background with one or two promos before I did that angle on the October show with Holly/Jean tricking Ruby into losing OG-Joshi.

But that really sparked my desire to create them as edits. Up until that point, I was planning on doing a write-up match. But when so many people got excited about OG-Joshi returning, I wanted to actually have it be in a capped match. So I spent a lot of time the past month getting them up to speed and then was utterly blown away by the sims I got last weekend. They were well above my expectations for what were essentially just first drafts of those edits. I still needed to figure out exactly how I was going to write the post-match but that suddenly came to me over the weekend too. So I'm REALLY happy with how it turned out - the commentary before the match, the actual match, and the angle afterward.

Despite not regularly writing for Holly since like 2010, she's always been my favorite character to RP as (with Jean as a close second and Geese as third). I feel like the Holly that treated Ruby that well after the match while still kind of laying into her a little with taunts is the best possible version and maturation of Holly.

I loved that match ending too. I honestly thought Ruby was going to win that sim so to have Holly reverse that last submission attempt AND hit the Danshoku in the corner for the win was beautiful. I also love how her playing around and taunting almost led her to lose the match due to the run Ruby went on. It was easily my favorite capped match of the night though the main event had my actual favorite ending.

Figaro: "Oh man I'm sure Clyde will hook him up with some bad ass Dragoon Boots 👢
Clyde: "Palidor Esper helps too."
Figaro: "Yeah, but you know what they say: It's gotta be the shoes!"

I had already capped the main event of ALL YOUR BASE when I wrote that Saji promo last month. It was not a coincidence that I drew attention to the fact that Alicia uses that same blade kick and what she did with it 😉

During the commentary leading to Holly vs. Ruby I talked a lot about Alicia. Of course, her story is necessary to understand Holly vs. Ruby but I had MJC talk her up pretty good there. Also, I intentionally didn't add Alicia to the list of prospective OG-Joshi talent a few weeks back despite her being my #1 face there.

And I dropped some other subtle hints to her throughout the year.

I have so much planned for 2020 a main goals is advancing (and explaining) the Geese story 🤵💼⁉  I have two very big RP's planned (two of which I've had in my head for like 7 years) along with a series of smaller ones. There will be resolution by the end of 2020! There kind of has to be for everything else I'm planning to progress!
