RIP Carroll Spinney
That name might not be familiar to you but if you were an American kid at any point in the last 50 years, you probably know his most famous work: puppeteer and voice of Sesame Street's Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch from 1969-2018
I only learned about him a decade ago myself but the man genuinely loved his work (you have to do it for that long, even as he entered his 80s and the physical demand forced him to cut back) and those characters have taught 5-6 generations' worth of kids aged 3-7 lessons about everything from counting numbers, to sharing with others, to dealing with bullies, and perhaps most famously, dealing with the loss of a loved one. Big Bird is something of a cultural icon and Spinney is the man who gave him life.
RIP sir,
from a grateful kid

That one really bums me out. DS9 is actually my all-time favorite TV show. He was playing a more-alien-than-usual alien under a full-face prosthetic, and still managed to convey relatability and conflict and humanity with basically just eyes, voice, and body language.
No surprise he made a great voice actor, too, most memorably (to me) voicing the iconic Mr. House in Fallout:New Vegas.
He was still pretty active, too. He said something once along the lines of "retirement's not for me; I'll die with my boots on." I suppose he was right about that.

Danny Aiello died at 86. I mostly remember him from The Professional and Jacobs Ladder, but he was a fairly prolific character actor.

That is an incredible picture. I’ve heard the name (probably through fire pro) but never saw any of his ring stuff. That’s too young, something needs to change so that wrestlers actually get to be miserable old farts.

Pampero Firpo died at 89 years old. I found out about this guy listening to Jim Cornette (and his name is in the Drive Thru podcast’s intro song!) and have looked him up. Cool gimmick, Argentinian wild man deal way back in the day. On a positive note, the guy lived to 89 years old, sadly, not many wrestlers make it half that far. The format is terrible, but here’s a short write up about the dude. slam.canoe.com/Slam/Wrestling/2020/01/09/22804064.html

Rocky Johnson passed away at 75 years old. What a beast he was in his day, I've seen some of his old stuff, pretty cool and always in incredible condition, and you would have to be at least a bit of a bad ass to be worthy to marry into the Maivia family! So many cool pics of him with baby rock back in the day, I like this one of Rocky and his dorky jabroni son who is already muggin’ for the camera!
