***All Time Boxing***All Time Boxing is a fed that uses real boxers from throughout history, initially starting as an intended 32 man heavyweight tournament, but now will be run as an active promotion. The basic concept is that 500 years in the future, humanity wishes to study the past, and has "imported" prizefighters from the distant past. Champions
All Time Boxing Heavyweight Champion -Joe Louis All Time Boxing Middleweight Champion -Sugar Ray Leonard All Time Boxing Lightweight Champion -Joe Gans All Time Boxing Women's Champion -Lucia Rijker All Time Fighting Vale Tudo Champion -Fedor Emelianenko --- Original summary: A Thirty-Two Man Heavyweight Boxing tournament to determine the best boxer of all time.
(I'm taking a bit of a high concept route with this tournament, having modified my old Heroes of History setup to allow for a future society which has a desire to see how the boxers of the past would match up with each other, and possessing the technology to bring them together in their respective primes.)
*Sci-fi rationale for the tournament: 500 years into the future, following much turmoil, the world has once again reached equilibrium. The Smithsonian Society has discovered through its revolutionary Quantum Recovery Engine the ability to pull items from the past into the future. The world as a whole has been bio-engineered to avoid needless violence and work towards a more harmonious future. One question, however has concerned the nature of humanity prior to the world wide “Nirvana Therapy.” As humanity of the time have mental blocks and a chemical mix in their blood to make violence exceedingly difficult to carry out, scientists decided to use the Quantum Recovery Engine to bring a number of individuals back from the past to understand their nature. As the public heard of the project, it became heavily interested in seeing the pugilists from the past, and as such, the Smithsonian made the decision to make the broadcast available to all those who wished to access it on their Neural Interface.
Given the public investment in the project, historians from the Smithsonian Society have worked on importing a number of elite boxers. The selection ranged from the birth of the Marquis of Queensbury rules to the end of the 2010s, with the time period considered to be a proper mix of the first era of the sport, before Nano enhancements and the Rejuvenation Formula drastically changed the nature of the fighters. The tournament will take place when the QRE finishes the process to import all the fighters into the present, and their training camp is complete. The fighters have been grouped into four training camps within their relative eras, and will be given information on their potential opponents. Fights will each consist of five rounds of three minutes each, with a five knockdown rule set. The brackets will be seeded closer to the time of the tournament, and will be balanced to combine at least one member of each camp in each bracket. Pioneer Era: -John L. Sullivan

Here's my first attempt at doing some actual "promo work" for the ATB tournament. I'm writing for actual people, and even worse, trying to mimic the writing style of some of the greatest sportswriters in history which raises this a degree of difficulty above my usual Office stuff, so if it comes across a bit awkward, well, I'm working with it.
If you're a bit confused by the whole setting, read the spoilered explanation in the first post, it's basically a load of sci-fi nonsense concerning a society 500 years in the future that has the ability to pull people from the past in the present, and as such, set up a big boxing tournament that came about as a byproduct of some studies of past eras of humanity.
Report from the Ali Block
By Bert Randolph Sugar
These are truly marvelous times in which I have been summoned. To suddenly exist in a time without disease and where humanity has finally moved past war is mind boggling. But to be here because people want to know more about the boxers of my time is completely incomprehensible. The playwright Oscar Wilde said "We live in an age when unnecessary things are our only necessities," and these are obviously the times he foresaw. So without further ado, I will synthesize a bottle of Cutty Sark, light a newly created cigar and present some of my interactions with the greatest pugilists of all time, starting with Muhammad Ali.
Bert Sugar: Hello, Muhammad, I understand that you think you received an easy draw in this tournament.
Muhammad Ali: That's right, Sugarman. That big overgrown Italian may pack a punch, but you can't hurt what you can't hit, and he's not going to lay a glove on me.
Sugar: Do you have a specific prediction for how you think this fight is going to go?
Ali: I think this fight's going to be over before you know it. I'll tell you what, I'm going to fell the tree in three! Fell the tree in three! The Shambling Alp isn't going to know what happened when it's all over! I'm too fast, I'm too strong, I'm too good for him to stand the shadow of a chance. And his shadow's the only thing that he's going to hit me with in this fight, you see. I'm too pretty to be punched, I'm too mean for him to see, I'm going to teach the Shambling Alp that he should have just stayed home in his own time, and I'm going to show everyone that I'm the greatest of all the times!
I then shifted over to speak to the great John L. Sullivan, the prince of the fading era of bare knuckle boxers.
Sugar: John, do you think that you can keep up with men who fought a hundred years after you did?
John L. Sullivan: I said many times in my day that I could whip any man in the world. I do not believe that changes now.
Sugar: Surely, times changed, and so have the fighters. Are there any adjustments that your Pioneer camp has made towards addressing this fact?
Sullivan: We have sparred hard, and worked hard. I respect Dempsey, Tunney and Corbett. They did much of the research on the younger camps for us, and have given us much useful information.
Sugar: You once had an issue with your fellow camp member Jack Johnson fighting for the Heavyweight title because of his race. Can you two interact in the camp?
Sullivan: Johnson is a real fighter, that much I know. I admit it is difficult for me to understand these times, where every race and people have been melded, but maybe I have more in common with Johnson and Langford than I do with the common man in this time. It was not easy at first, but we now have a better understanding. I will leave it at that.
---
I've not forgotten about this! As soon as I finally finish up Lariats and Legislators #4 for the Senatorial Office, I'll be all in for some All Time Boxing. But in the meantime, here's a few words from Mike Tyson:
Words from Iron Mike
By Bert Randolph Sugar
Certainly enough superlatives have been abused to describe the spectacle of Michael Gerard Tyson in his own time. An unstoppable killer, a heavyweight with the speed of a lightweight, the Baddest Man on the Planet, Kid Dynamite, or simply Iron Mike, all phrases which have been employed by sportswriters attempting to illuminate the enigma that was Tyson. I spoke with the man himself in the attempt to understand the man behind the myths.
Bert Sugar: Mike, you have said that you aren't here to just win this tournament, but you want to leave a more lasting impression, correct?
Mike Tyson: Yeah, I didn't ask for this, but now that I'm here, It's like I'm living the whole history of boxing now. And I want to show everyone in this tournament that I am the most dangerous man who ever lived.
Sugar: An impressive claim, and not one that I am willing to refute! But some say your opponent, Earnie Shavers might be the hardest hitter who ever laced up a pair of gloves, care to refute this?
Tyson: I don't know who said that, but Earnie Shavers isn't gonna do anything to me in there. He thinks he hits hard? I'm gonna kill him.
Sugar: I don't think...
Tyson: I'm gonna kill him. I'm gonna hit him so hard that he can't get back up. And by that, I mean I'm going to hit him so hard that I kill his stupid ass. I'm gonna fracture his skull, and stop his heart. I will kill him. And then when I do that, I'm going to stand over his dead body, and I'm going to spit on it.
Sugar: But what did he...
Tyson: And when I do that, then is anyone going to say that he hit harder than me? Because if I kill him, then nobody will say they can hit harder than I do. Not Earnie Shavers, not anyone.
And while this would go on for a while, I think you have all seen enough of what Iron Mike Tyson has to say about his upcoming fight against Earnie Shavers.
---
The date is finally set for this: starting on June 20, All Time Boxing will begin! Not sure if I'm going to try run a marathon series to run through it, with an intermission between each block, or if I'm going to space things out a bit, think I'll just play it by ear.

The Bronze Bomber and the Rock
By Bert Randolph Sugar
Since I have arrived here in this incomprehensible future landscape, I have been trying to do the uncomplicated job of letting the fighters of my time tell their stories to the people of this era. For the most part, it has been a simple task. I grab a cigar and a drink and I let the personalities shine through. But something different happened when I found that two of the fighters wanted me to facilitate a meeting between their fight. As such, I present this encounter between the undefeated duo of Rocky Marciano and Deontay Wilder to you, unfiltered, just as a real fight fan should appreciate.
Bert Sugar: So, Deontay, Rocky, you both have no problem meeting me right here at this fancy watering hole. It amazes me that you can see the entire brewing process appear in seconds before they serve us! Of course, neither of you are partaking of the spirits, are you?
Rocky Marciano: No, Bert, I want to keep my diet clean. I always believe that it is necessary for a fighter to live a disciplined life. And that means I have to save my tour of this future until I get through this tournament.
Deontay Wilder: First off, let me just say this: BOMB SQUAD REPRESENTING HERE IN THE FUTURE! Alright, now that I got that out of the way, I just have to say that I can't believe that I'm here in this tournament, with the chance to prove myself the greatest of all time. I mean, nobody's gonna get DQed for juicing, nobody's slipping away with PEDs, no promoters keeping their boy out of my way. But yeah, you know, Rocky makes some sense here, everyone says he's a Spartan Warrior in his training. I'm gonna be Leonidas if that's the case!
Sugar: You two have certainly been studying the film, haven't you? What have you seen, if you want to mention anything here?
Marciano: I see Deontay is going to be the hardest hitter I've ever faced. And I've never faced anyone quite as tall as him! But I think I do some things he's not seen in his time, either.
Wilder: I'm just going to be straight forward, I just gotta be honest. All respect to Rocky here, he's going to be tough as anyone I've faced. He fought everyone in his time. But he's gotta fight me now. And I don't see any reason why I'm not going to knock him out.
Sugar: How do each of you feel about your training camps? Anyone been especially helpful, or tough to work with?
Marciano: Joe, Ezzard, Archie and Joe are all good people to have on my side for once. We've been competitive but we've also been able to cooperate. Primo's helped me with this matchup, and I think I've picked up a few tricks for this fight sparring with him. I also want to say that Max has been very helpful in his breakdowns, all the little details he's been pointing out.
Wilder: Can't say I like training with Joshua, I'd rather knock him flat out. Didn't like him before, don't like him now. But man, Mike Tyson, training with Iron Mike has been crazy. We're all throwing big shots and going hard, but if there's one thing I think I'm finding, it's that I wanna be the best, not just in my camp, but everywhere! I want to be the best of all the times, and I know I have what it takes!
Marciano: You haven't lost yet. I haven't either. I suppose we'll just have to see what happens when we fight.
Wilder: The one thing that ticks me off here is that they seeded you as the favorite here. Now I've gotta show everyone here why that was a big mistake. No disrespect, but I'm going to run you over to do that.
Sugar: Alright then, Deontay Wilder! Rocky Marciano! Two undefeated gentlemen of the ring who look to erase each other's zero! But not here...and not now...

A quick note here, now that I've moved all the archived info from ATB over here, I'm going to start things off a bit differently. The storyline and setup will remain the same, but at this point, I'm going more towards bypassing the gargantuan tournament and running monthly cards. I'll have some further explanations on that point, but for now, expect five fight cards to appear once a month, and if I can get enough momentum going again, the tournament might be back on.

Tournament Postponed! First Event Announced! By Nat Fleischer
The All Time Great Heavyweight tournament has been postponed. The politics of boxing rear their ugly head, even in this present day. For the tournament, the fighters were grouped into four fight camps based on the era in which they fought. These camps have now grown into becoming their own promotional entities. These newly-crowed promotions balked at continuing with the tournament as it was. The vaunted Smithsonian Society was very much pleased with these developments, even as the general public has been disappointed. The Society saw the evolution as a chance to study the human element of the sport, and has even encouraged it, bringing in more competitors outside the original tournament competitors, and even finding the loathsome breed of promoters from each era to support their games.
Now our grand tournament has been postponed. But within the ashes of the competition rises another one. Our camps decided even if they would not yet sanction a full scale tournament, they would be more than pleased to cooperate on smaller events until terms could be agreed upon. And now we have a new, smaller event to enjoy.
All Time Boxing #1 - Battle of the Sugar Rays
Main Event - Middleweight Sugar Ray Leonard(Evolved) vs. Sugar Ray Robinson(Golden)
Heavyweight Jack Dempsey(Pioneer) vs. Ron Lyle(Silver)
Middleweight Bernard Hopkins(Evolved) vs. Carlos Monzon(Silver)
Lightweight Benny Leonard(Pioneer) vs. Shane Mosely(Evolved)
Heavyweight Butterbean(Evolved) vs. Tony Galento(Golden)
---
As it was, I felt I needed some momentum to get back to the tournament, and also really wanted to build this world up a little bit. And since everyone wants to see the Sugar Rays battle, this was a natural inaugural event. I also figured that even into the far future that boxing always will devolve into politics and negotiations, and that the scientific organization studying the boxers would want to see that part of it, too. Don't worry, the tournament is NOT DEAD.
This event should be taking place this Friday(on our timeline, that is), if everything checks out.

Don't expect this to be the last ATB event!

One thing I discovered running ATB #1 is that a full card goes fast, very fast. Five fights in a half hour, and I think more people showed up during my extended post-show than did during the show. That's not a bad thing. In fact, that makes me think that if I run Office shows on Fridays, I could occasionally run an All Time Boxing event either before or afterwards. ---
Tournament for the Lightweight Belt! By Nat Fleischer
Rumors for All Time Boxing's second event have been swirling around, and I can confirm that many of them are true. After the success of ATB's inaugural event, the fight camps have decided that they want to have some stakes to play for. And as such, they agreed upon a four man tournament to decide the first All Time Boxing Lightweight Champion. Willie Pep, Julio Cesar Chavez, Henry Armstrong and Floyd Mayweather Jr. will meet at All Time Boxing #2 to determine the winner. The Silver and Pioneer camps each relinquished their rights on this tournament. Some say that they will receive priority for the initial title challenges, or perhaps gain guaranteed spots for upcoming Middleweight or Heavyweight title tournaments.
All Time Boxing #2 - Lightweight Gold
Main Event: All Time Boxing Lightweight Championship Winner of Mayweather and Pep vs. Winner of Chavez and Armstrong
Heavyweight Evander Holyfield(Evolved) vs. Ezzard Charles(Golden)
Middleweight Matthew Saad Muhammad(Silver) vs. Harry Greb(Pioneer)
Lightweight Tournament Floyd Mayweather Jr.(Evolved) vs. Willie Pep(Golden)
Lightweight Tournament Henry Armstrong(Golden) vs. Julio Cesar Chavez(Evolved)

Might end up running this tonight after the Z-1 Qualifiers or sometime next week, ATB shows run fast(last was only half an hour), so it's not a huge time commitment like a full fledged Lariats and Legislators or supershow type deal for the Office.

My Words with Floyd Mayweather Jr. By Bert Randolph Sugar
One of the betting favorites as well as one of the most enigmatic fighters in the upcoming All Time Boxing Lightweight Division, Floyd Mayweather Jr. has captivated and irritated boxing fans for two solid decades in his own time. Now he has arrived in the present day, and may well have adapted better than anyone else I met to date. I met with Floyd on the top floor of a luxury tower in which he was holding a decadent celebration.
Bert Sugar: This is quite the event here! I see exotic women of a sort that I never saw in my time, holograms of your old fights in which people can synchronize with the referee, people are racing airplanes on the outside of this place and the single largest diamond I have ever seen in my life on the table there! I don't even know what to think!
Floyd Mayweather Junior: Thanks for showing up, Bert, this is something I wanted to do here to show that I'm not just about boxing. They don't know about Money in this time, and I want to show the people here how to truly live.
Sugar: That diamond...how did you get that?
Floyd: Some sort of science, I don't understand it, but when I told some of my new friends here that I appreciated that sort of thing, they had this made for me. The thing about this new world is that I can have anything my mind can picture. I think that a lot of people here don't understand what they have or what they can have. I have a different perspective.
Sugar: That much is obvious. So, for the tournament, first round, you have one of the greatest defensive boxers of all time Willie Pep. Some might say that he tested himself more than you have. What do you think?
Floyd: Bert, anyone who says that doesn't deserve to follow this sport. Willie's a good boxer, even great. But I'm the best. I went fifty and zero. I beat Manny Pacquiao, I beat Oscar De La Hoya, I beat Ricky Hatton. I destroyed Juan Manuel Marquez. I faced more tests than anyone, and I always came out ahead. If you think Willie Pep could have done what I did, then you weren't paying attention.
Sugar: Getting past the first round, assuming you win your fight, who would you rather face in the finals? Henry Armstrong, or Julio Cesar Chavez?
Floyd: Honestly, I'll beat either of them. I have a game plan for Armstrong and Chavez. But to answer your question, I'd rather face Armstrong. Chavez got schooled by Pernell Whitaker. I don't have anything to prove there, I'm twice as good as Whitaker. Armstrong's got more questions that I'd like to answer. But I know I can beat him, too.
Sugar: In passing, you often were criticized for your defensive first style, but always were the top box office draw. Do you think you can bring the same level of interest to this day and age?
Floyd: Absolutely. Like you see around me here, Money is timeless. I bring something special every time I step into the ring. The people might not always like me, but they always have to respect me. They know that I'm a once in a lifetime fighter. And I'm going to prove that one more time here when I win this tournament.
Sugar: Thank you again, Floyd, for the interview, and for this extravagant event!

All Time Boxing #2 - Lightweight Gold Main Event: All Time Boxing Lightweight Championship Henry Armstrong vs. Julio Cesar Chavez II -Henry Armstrong was dominant in this one, no questions asked who was the clear cut winner. Heavyweight Evander Holyfield(Evolved) vs. Ezzard Charles(Golden) -An even fight through the first three rounds, with Holyfield picking it up in the 4th and finishing things in the 5th Middleweight Matthew Saad Muhammad(Silver) vs. Harry Greb(Pioneer) -A total war from the first punch, both men threw frenzied flurries and power shots, but in the end Saad Muhammad's strength was too much for Greb to handle Lightweight Tournament Floyd Mayweather Jr.(Evolved) vs. Willie Pep(Golden) -Pep landed the first knockdown in the second round -Pep kept the pressure on as the fight went on and crushed Mayweather with a straight right in the 4th! Lightweight Tournament Henry Armstrong(Golden) vs. Julio Cesar Chavez(Evolved) -Chavez was stronger in the first round, working the body -Armstrong pciekd it up big time in the third round and won with a massive overhand

A quick reminder that I've not totally abandoned the All Time Boxing project, and will be running more shows in the future, as soon as I get through the major events I have going on for the Office. I should be addressing the title scene for all three divisions coming up soon, as well as taking care of some big time money fights.
