Anyone see the show Knight Fight, hosted by Christian (as in “edge and” wwe guy)? Crazy shit, I don’t know how everyone doesn’t end up concussed at the very least. I can see busted fingers, ribs, jacked up shoulders happening, it’s lunacy. Guys in armour fighting with weapons (axes, swords, maces, flails, etc), punching each other, kicking each other, all kinds of shit. Not a lot of technique, and looks like an insurance nightmare, but it’s kind of like extreme LARPing. Train wreck kind of thing, but entertaining none the less. HAHAHA! I need to check this out, sounds absolutley insane! :D

You summed it up perfectly as extreme LARPing. Still cool though.

Checked out Alternatino with Arturo Castro of Broad City fame, cool little skit show, hopefully it will continue to be good as it progresses. I liked this skit, good ol’ first world arrogance. 🙂 m.youtube.com/watch?v=-F3IL9ZqYsc#fauxfullscreen

I've seen stuff like this on YouTube...I think M-1 or something like that from Russia.

I've been watching two shows that are very relevant for my past. I was born in Russia and lived in Ukraine until I was 7 or 8.
One show is Chernobyl, which is an absolutely fantastic production and story. The show manages to perfectly reflect USSR back in the day, down to the very last detail. The atmosphere, paranoia and cover up... it felt very real to me (I even overlooked the fact the actors speak English and not Russian). If you guys are interested, it's a very high quality mini series (5 chapters, I think) that I highly recommend.
From a personal standpoint, we were living south east of Chernobyl and a few days after the explosion happened, I became very sick. I don't recall it (I was 4) but my mom says I was laying in bed for months and no one knew what I had. Back then the population didn't know about the explosion until much later. My brother was born years later with paralyzed legs... we thought he'll never walk and it took several surgeries to fix it (he's ok today). You can't prove that it is because of Chernobyl, of course but many children were born with different defects and illnesses after the event took place.
It could have been much worse for us, as we were basically saved by the wind direction, that carried most of the radiation west into Europe.
Anyway, the other series is The Americans. Just started season 4. Of course this show is a little bit more over the top but it still feels realistic enough for me to enjoy. My dad, who lived through the cold war enjoyed it too so there's that :)

Chernobyl was a great show, horrific, but great. I agree completely, the production was top notch. It's terrible what what happened to you and your brother, and everyone else who was affected by the meltdown.
I was only three when we got word of what had happened, but I remember we couldn't play outside for a long period of time. People were forbidden to pick mushrooms and berries from the woods and a large amount of animals had to be put down due to the radiation. There's also been an increase in birth defects during that period and a significant increase of people getting cancer from that period as well.

I've been watching and absolutely loving the shit out of Netflix's Castlevania!!
Wow, the first season (only 4 eps long) was a really nice, slow build to the point where i was completely hooked by Episode 4. Season 2 has a different vibe in many ways but still progresses things really well.
The fighting is great but is sparingly used to maximize effect. The series is also surprisingly funny, particularly with banter. And I really like the character build for everyone that gets significant time.
I blew through about 10 episodes in the last 3 nights and just have 4 left of Season 2.

By Friday I'll probably have finished Season 2 so I really hope Season 3 will be out soon.
I bet Seasons 1 and 2 will be awesome on BluRay with any potential extras.
