I've started watching the Harley Quinn cartoon on DC Universe It's not quite what I was expecting but so far so good. It's kind of a mix between a regular adult series and a 90s style adult sitcom, with the obvious setting of the DC Universe (wherein innumerable aliens, mad scientists, mythical beings, and all manner of advanced technology and magic exist). It's really weird hearing Harley without her trademark accent but the actual characterization is spot on and the VA (Kaley Cuoco, from that show that I can't fucking stand) does well with her.
Poison Ivy and Frank are pretty damn great (Kite-Man too, lol) and the Joker as the psychotic ex-boyfriend is all sorts of interesting given that at this point (4 episodes into season 1) she's still kind of defining herself by his standard and he invariably finds a way to interfere with her aspirations.

I keep meaning to check the Harley Quinn series out, no idea why I was even interested, I guess it looked like a cool idea, but now I’m really interested! I will go out of my way to check it out, thanks for the run down! 🙂

Trailer directly
I forgot how much I missed this show until I saw everyone again. Now I have to re-watch it. It's been long enough everything will seem new to me. Apparently Weird Al Yankovic has a cameo playing Ted Nugent and he can briefly be seen in the trailer.

I used to get so happy whenever Comedy Central would play a weekend marathon of Reno 911. It was like the perfect show to just relax to while maybe building some Fire Pro edits at the same time. Really excited about the return of the show. Hopefully they continue making more seasons! 😁

Just a reminder that Rick and Morty has started up again.

Totally forgot to mention that here! 😁
I watched the first episode of the renewed season and loved it. It's one of my favorite episodes the show has ever done. Apparently it got a very divided reaction by fans but I thought it was hilarious and brilliant 😎
Aside from the awesome heist episode, I wasn't really blown away by the first half of the season.
The snake episode was pretty good though.

Though they changed his name to "Ted Nougat" right? Right?

Checked out two more Dark Side of the Ring episodes, the Herb Abrams / UWF and the Road Warriors’ last ride. The Abrams one was interesting, I’d heard UWF mentioned, but have no knowledge of it whatsoever. Abrams was quite the character, like a cross between Paul Hayman and scarface, and his guys seemed to be very loyal. Another DSotR sad train wreck/funny look at a wresting personality, was a good one for those interested in wrestling history, and also for those into crazy stories of cocaine and whore fueled antics carried out by an egomaniac party animal. Interesting and sad, and another story about a character that seems to be common to pro wrestling.
The Road Warriors episode seemed a bit rushed, they deserve a well done, proper documentary. I did learn a few things, but not as much as I’d have liked. I remember being floored the first time I saw them, and it wasn’t till their WWF run, but even by that time, the paint, the pads, the mastadonic size and power, the in ring stiffness, I was an instant fan. Getting to see tapes of them in Japan blew my mind, so I can’t imagine what it must have been like to see them in the south east in their prime. Cool stuff, a bit too heavy an emphasis on Hawk’s substance issues, but pretty good stuff.

The Road Warriors episode seemed a bit rushed I'm sorry but that's just funny to me. A team known for the catchphrase "what a rush" ends up having their episode rushed.

Finally got around to watching the Owen Hart episode of Dark Side of the ring. Yesterday was 21 years since Owen’s death, I can’t believe he’s been gone for so long. It was cool to see the foundation his wife and kids started in his name and seems to be in alignment with the guy he was. Seeing Jim Ross talk about how little guidance he got production wise, how disgusted he was that the show continued, and how he’s still haunted by it today was pretty sad. It was cool to see the focus of the show on who Owen was and how much he loved his family. Of course they had to address the fall and the lawsuit, but it was mostly about the guy himself.
I always loved watching Owen in the ring, Jericho had a similar recollection of his fandom, being blown away by this acrobatic, high flying guy with crazy moves in the otherwise pretty old fashioned Stampede promotion. Owen was always my favourite of the Harts and easily still one of my favourite wrestlers of all time (terrible Canadian I am, I never really got on board with Bret or understood the hype. He was great in the ring, I just could never get into his gimmick). I was crushed when he died, and people in Alberta were truly grieving, generations of Albertan wrestling fans watched that guy grow up on TV and proudly watched him make his way onto the big show and make a name for himself not just for being Bret’s brother. What a sad waste, it was cool to see positive stuff about him in the episode.

I finished ESPNs Bruce Lee documentary Be Water last night. The story has been told hundreds of different ways, conspiracy typically abounds, but even closing in on 50 years since his death, people keep telling his story. This is my favourite version, lots of new pictures and interviews, and great background about the struggles and obstacles facing an immigrant at the time. I like this one because they address his humanity, confidence and determination, and how influential and empowering his image was to people who totally lacked representation of themselves in any media as anything more than a punchline to a joke or as a terribly racist stereotype, typically portrayed by a non Asian actor. It’s really cool to see Lee still having such a strong influence even after all of these years, it would have been amazing to see what an 80 year old Bruce Lee could have accomplished by now. Check this one out!

Very glad that you liked it and that was a great description of it! I have had it saved on my DVR since it recorded like two weeks ago. I have yet to watch it but am looking forward to doing so. Also, funny timing story coinciding with your post!! I was flipping channels last night looking for a quick diversion while eating (I needed a Move Craft break lol) and stumbled upon Adam West's Batman show. The episode happened to be a crossover with the Green Hornet and Bruce Lee's Kato character. There was one big fight in the end and it was hilarious. It was like watching that episode of Futurama where Fry had 100 coffees and he was moving at light speed compared to everyone else!! Every other character was "BAM" style fighting and Bruce Lee was throwing legit looking strikes and practically warping around the room.

That is a perfect parallel! The ignorance on the part of those studios was crazy, they were sitting on a gold mine! At least green hornet let Lee do his thing and didn’t try to Slow him down. The Kung fu series though... wow. That would have been amazing with Bruce in the role, more amazing if they would have let him add the philosophy and martial traditions he wanted in there. The world wasn’t ready for that guy, he was very ahead of his time. Caradine of all people to play that role though... 🤮
It’s crazy that he’s still resonating now, I sometimes wonder if he hadn’t died if his aura would be as bright as it is, or if he’d have faded into the background? Sometimes that mystique keeps things alive way past their physical departure, the lack of answers and what ifs. I love the Pierre Burton interview, I could watch it over and over again, he felt free, and talked about what he wanted to. No stupid chop socky questions, just letting a passionate mans ideas flow for a public, ready or not, to receive. 🙂
