This game looks like it'll be way more fun than last year. Total control of MITB cash-ins in Universe. Can decide who cashes in and when they cash in. Can happen in the middle of a match. Can choose winner of skipped matches in Universe. Can choose how often specific match types appear in Universe, if at all. Payback mechanics Overhauled Cage and HIAC matches Slightly faster gameplay with smarter AI Deepest roster of modern wrestlers Faster load times in menus More championship slots per show in Universe I'm actually excited for this game now. It might actually get me off of Fire Pro for a while lol I feel the same way. Now I'm wondering whether I should get 2K19 on the PC or PS4.
Remember how the PC ports of the other WWE2K games turned out...

Time to pull out an old favorite:
I swear I hear this exact same thing every freaking year.

Coming from the perspective of someone who started following this series all the way back in 2000 and stopped buying the new installments for 6 years, I can tell you that it's not the same.

BTW, if anyone buys a physical copy and doesn't need the WWE Supercard stuff - I'd absolutely love to have it!

Playing the game. Enjoying it so far. The new reversals and strike blocking are cool. Some nice animations added as well. The game play is certainly more fluid.

I went ahead and ordered it today if for nothing more than to be a completionist. I also like that we can now create or own order in Royal Rumbles.

Yep, game seems nice. I did play two matches and went back to Fire Pro ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Will definitely play more, there are a ton of things to do. BTW, should kicking out of pins be that difficult? Is there any way to change the kick-out system? I admit that I didn't play the game for several years but the timing window feels pretty tricky. I guess I'll figure it out as time goes by.

^I haven't played it this year but if it's the same mechanic as last year then yeah, it takes a bit getting used to if you've never seen it before. What was really neat in 2K18 and something that I'd hope they keep is that if you hit the pin meter in the yellow reversal window, you could actually turn the pin around on them. Think of those great cruiserweight pin sequences. Last year you could do that (though the AI wasn't particularly great about playing along; that's what friends are for lol)
hopefully the AI opponents don't always kick out at 1 or eat the pin. That was really annoying.

I honestly cannot stand that kickout meter either. I wish they would have implemented an alternative. Unrelated, EA did the same thing with Madden. I enjoyed using the joystick flick they had for a very long time for kicking. When they implemented that, they gave users the option of using it, or the old school 3 click system similar to the old PC golf games. They recently went back to the 3 click and 100% abandoned the old joystick flick kicking mechanic. Drove me nuts. I'm okay with timing button presses in some games, but when I see a damn meter I go completely stupid and fail miserably.
My workaround has been getting wrestlers I'm using w/ the resiliency buffs. That way I have at least 1 for sure kickout. Saves my ass.

I still suck at faces but as random and specific as it is, my JACKETS fucking stomp.

The only thing I can suggest would be to play on a computer monitor with HDMI input if your setup allows for it. That's what I do and it definitely helps.

The game is amazing. Might be my favorite wrestling game of all time (certainly of the WWE-licensed games). I just can't put it down.
They struck such a great balance between simulation and arcade. It's simulation, but so much more fun to play than last year's game.

So yeah, this sure as heck isn't Fire Pro when it comes to simming (not by a long shot) but the simming is pretty fun this year and the wrestlers (including CAWs) will use a bigger variety of moves and attack positions than in years past. Hell, they'll even go out of the way to set up the OMG spot in one match but not bother with it the next. Attributes actually do something for CAWs in sims vs the default roster this year. I'm still very fuzzy on the personality traits thing (it's been like 4 years and I still don't know if or how they specifically effect in-match behavior) but overall, they have improved this aspect of the game quite a lot, and that's without special sliders (which would presumably allow for more nuanced control over things).
I've heard almost universal positive feedback about the actual gameplay this year and I can't wait to try it out.
After I finish my signature CAWs xD
Please, please, PLEASE don't let any of the patches ruin this experience.

Yeah, I have to give them credit. This is actually one of the better wrestling games in quite a while. But then again it always takes me a week to turn on these 2K games(I haven’t played a Yukes developed wrestling game in quite a while).
I think what surprises me the most are the little touches, which is something Yukes has been bad about in the past. Sure they were one of the first that did the “unique” movement animations, but they also took forever to put in a way to walk on the fucking apron. Which is something almost every wrestling game had in the late 90’s. I haven’t tried any other gimmick matches outside of tag, so I’ll see how those hold up eventually. For now though I’ve liked what I’ve played so far.
