Yeah timing is such a big part of how a game hits you. For the first like year I had a fpw I barely touched it and then all of a sudden there were so many things I was enjoying doing in it and often I could do it while doing something else which is great for how little time I have now. That was like my experience with FPR. Even though it was the main thing I wanted for Christmas the year the NA version came out, I mostly spent the following year playing other games. Then at some point in late 2008 or early 2009 I tried it again and this time something clicked. Then I found the Fire Pro Club and I fell down that rabbit hole for a few years. I haven't really spent time with it since at least 2015 due to my PS2 conking out but I still have a soft spot for it just from how much time I spent with it before that. Nostalgia is like that though. I still counted Fighting Vipers as an all-time favorite despite not having played it for well over a decade at one point, for example. Then again, sometimes nostalgia is best left to the past. I spent a lot of time with Fighters Megamix in my youth because the concept was cool. After digging it out again a few years ago, though, I was mostly struck by how unbalanced it is from a gameplay standpoint.

Somehow this doesn’t even seem too far fetched or unlikely. 🙂

So I was perusing the PS store for good sale items and came across this, store.playstation.com/en-ca/product/UP1675-CUSA11816_00-AV00000000000037I thought it was a joke, so I looked it up, and there are a pile of stories on various sites about it! I’m still not convinced it isn’t a rib. Who in the hell would pay real money for this? This thing is $133.49 CAN, you can buy many games with that kind of money. Groceries? Clothes? Interesting.

I just watched the RWC final between RSA and England again (can’t get enough of Kyle Sinckler getting STARCHED on that botched hit, great player but a bit of a prick), and it got me thinking when that last whistle blew. Anyone here ever feel lost and even bummed out after accomplishing something huge? It’s understandable heartbreak for the losing side, fighting for four years to make it so far and come up short, some players realizing they will never get the opportunity again, but to be upset about the finality of WINNING?
Not the same thing as RWC, but my high school rugby team had been suspended for a few years before a few of us petitioned to have it reinstated so that we could play. We were all green as baby shit, but we scraped together a team, found a coach, and got started. We had exactly fifteen players, and even though we were juniors, we were slapped into the senior division. We played huge teams with a full extra side worth of reserves , and because we were smaller and younger, we usually played short because inevitably a couple of our guys would go down. We lost multiple games 60 to nil and only managed a tie in our fist two seasons. Our team got tighter and tougher, and although we were guaranteed points, teams soon learned it would hurt A LOT to get those points. 🙂
Our last year everything came together, we attracted good athletes from other sports teams, and put together a great squad , and ended up winning the regional title undefeated. I remember that last whistle blowing and my team mates erupting in celebration. I dropped onto my ass and felt like I just watched my dog get run over in front of my eyes. I was so lost, and guys on my team said I looked more upset than the guys we had just beat. Eventually it felt good, but I guess all of the shit we worked so hard for so abruptly ending completely stole the moment for me. Same feeling when I finished my post secondary education, I couldn’t wait to be done, but when it was, I just wanted to jump back in.
Anyone else have any ridiculous reactions to what should be great, fun moments in their lives that turn into a pity party? I guess I’ve always loved the journey and the fight more than the result or something like that.

Hey, does anybody know where I could find a list of reasons why people go to jail? Something like "Breaking and entering", "Assault with a deadly weapon", etc. I know the word is not "reason" but you know what I mean. Much appreciated.

I know we've already had this discussion but it still seems kinda wild that 2020 has gone from sounding like "the distant future" to literally being next month.

Originally developed in 1978, a never before released promo ad for the Intellivision was just dug up out of an archive for the 40th Anniversary and posted on youtube. Be amazed by the technology of being able to have an Intelligent Television.
Mini documentary on the origin of Cyberpunk. Part 1.
