Getting ready for the upcoming Warhammer 40k Eisenhorn TV series, one of youtube's lore masters put together a nice mini documentary on the main character of the series, Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn.

It saddens me that we are limited to one order per household, but with the obvious demand for an amazing product like this, I can see why! 🙂 ( there needs to be a Canadian version of this! The “knights” are epic, the Canadian ones could be riding moose and beavers!)

Every time that ad comes on TV, I wonder who would actually buy it. This country has gotten so starkly partisan that most households probably couldn't stand it if their favored side didn't win, even in a family chess game. The actual election will probably turn it into a bitter reminder afterwards as well.
I mean, I know there are families where some members lean one way and others go the other, but still.
That said, I get the reasoning behind the idea in theory, and the actual craftsmanship isn't bad.

Every time that ad comes on TV, I wonder who would actually buy it. This precisely. When I see homeless people digging in the garbage for something to eat while the Kardashians useless “show” keeps getting renewed, when my PhD chemist neighbour couldn’t get a mortgage because he subsided on research grants until he got a job with environment Canada, but someone thought an Emoji Movie was a good investment, I think, who consumes this shit? The ad for the chess set itself is almost as hilarious as the fact there was enough demand for it to warrant mass production, but I guess there’s a niche for everything. 🙂

So, entertaining a 9/10 month old in the days of quarantine have proved interesting. Swimming and parks have been replaced with coming up with games and activities in the house and some nature walks, weather permitting. TV was off the table for us to begin with due to my wife reading about the drawbacks of early childhood screen time.
Screen time is now okay, a matter of survival. Trying to find something appropriate and interesting for an active little dude was tough, then along came a little Brit by the name of Peppa Pig. This little person starts laughing and clapping when the intro song plays which is entertainment on its own. I f$&king love this show. It gets cheekier as the seasons progress, I’ve seen all of them multiple times, I have many favourite moments, but this is easily my favourite and a very real social interaction.

So 9 years later, I think this is still pretty hilarious
where does the time go?

I was just listening to an old episode of Joe Rogan’s podcast with Bas “el guapo” Rutten and found myself lost in the stories, humour, and the awesome Dutch accent he still has after all these years! I’ve loved this guy since day one, I used to religiously seek out martial arts magazine articles featuring Bas, I had the classic picture of him with the titles on his shoulders, I even saved up and got the Big Books of Combat back in the day (which were generously lent out but never returned...). The guy was a pioneer, an amazing innovator in the Wild West formative years of mma, he’s respected by fighters, he’s great on commentary, a great teacher and historian with his own brand of humility and respect for fighters and martial arts. I don’t know how many people here know or don’t know of him, but here’s a little video about the worlds greatest (looking... self proclaimed, when he went to the UFC, they marketed him as the worlds greatest martial artist to which he ha ha’d and added “looking”) martial artist, mr Rutten!

I'm not huge on "YouTube stars" or whatever but I'll always be a fan of music and nerdy shit and this young lady plays amazing piano covers of various theme songs from anime and video games. I've been watching her vids since October and each of her vids is impressive, even if I'm not familiar with the origin.
I am pretty familiar with the content of today's medley though

When I hear a new adaptation, or reboot or remake of something I like is coming out, ten years ago I would be really excited and hyped. Now when I get the news I just think about how bad it's going to be. At least I'm not alone.

Yeah, I kind of have that except with me it's typically less a sense of dread in regard to the quality and more often a sense of confusion about why they're restarting in the first place. Some video games like that have turned out pretty alright (Samurai Shodown is my first thought) but with movies......yeesh.

Yeah, I was just getting the lowdown on the upcoming Netflix version of Cowboy Bebop and they're already talking about changes and censorship and it seems it's going to get the Death Note treatment where they ignore the source material and just do whatever they want.

I was thinking about Don Frye and Yoshihiro Takayama today, wondering how theses two giants in MMA and pro wrestling are doing, hoping that they find some hope and positivity in their day today. I know it sounds corny, but these two were pretty bad ass in their time, and I know neither of them are doing well health wise (old article www.bjpenn.com/mma-news/don-frye/don-frye-talks-state-homeless-multiple-suicide-attempts/). Thought I’d post this old chestnut... 🙂
