Semi-Impact related, Jericho has officially announced an Impact vs. ROH dream match for his cruise: LAX vs. Young Bucks

Which LAX? I assume Ortiz and Santana based on the current angle where Homicide and Hernandez are now the OGz, but fuck, og lax vs bucks, in fucking crazy hyped for the idea of that match!

It is indeed Ortiz and Santana, which will still be awesome, but I'd really love to see OG LAX vs. the Bucks. They had a match for House of Glory in 2013, which is their only match I'm aware of, but the Bucks have improved a lot since then.

Can't say enough how much I've been impressed by Impact in the month that I've been following... it really is the alternative to WWE I've wanted since I quit watching it ~a year ago.

I was just thinking how a few years ago I was only watching New Japan and WWE, with PWG mixed in with ROH and PROGRESS. Now it's almost exclusively New Japan and All Japan and the history of FMW videos on YouTube.
I'd still watch PWG, but I just don't have time to buy the DVDs, and their (highspots) streaming service is a year behind. Its killed my wanting to catch up.
Now I think I'm gonna give impact a go, and I'm slowly incorporating licks from CMLL and AAA. I'd even want to check out DTU if I could find it, or The Crash if they put out decent videos on YouTube.
Impact has really impressed me with Slamiversary. And the tv14 lax segments are a breath of fresh air.

For me outside of Callis, Sami Callihan has really carried Impact. I couldn't stand OvE when they first arrived but after teaming up with Sami, I don't really mind them. And he has created two great stories with him & Eddie Edwards and now with Pentagon Jr. The LAX angles have also been good. And for me Tessa Blanchard is a beast, like father like daughter. I hope Brian Cage can develop more of a character now that he is the X-div champ. I know they pumped him up to be EC3s & Lashley's replacement, but I hope he can sustain it cause his Drillclaw (Steiner driver) is sick. Moose has the crowd behind him and I enjoy watching him cause of the moves he can perform for his size. Also, Aries and Eli Drake are the superstars...Drake has Rock comparable mic skills IMO. And Aries has always been able to tell a great story in the ring.

I've recently got back into it, and I like what I see so far and....Sami Callihan's fucking nuts.

I'm shocked that I've been enjoying Impact. I don't have cable and I just google Impact wrestling and the air date. The only other thing I watch is NXT, and honestly my favorite thing about it is that its under an hour long. Raw is as bad as its ever been. Just repulsive TV, even though I love the roster they have. Impact for once doesn't seem like they're trying to win the Gooker every segment and retread stuff that didn't work already in wwe, for the most part.

Sami has definitely been a highlight. I actually couldn't stand the guy for the longest time, but his work in Lucha Underground made me come around. His current storyline with Pentagon has been great, and (spoilers for the most recent episode in case anyone hasn't watched yet) I loved him forcing one of the Crists (can't remember which) to shave the other's head. Really interested to see where this goes.

I’d like to get back into impact, as I gave up just on it just before styles left.. sat through all the immortal stuff but aces and eights was the last straw. From reading this thread it suggests it’s got good again!
I was a huge huge fan from 2002 to 2006, how is the quality of action now compared to then? Do they get a lot of time to work matches or is it promo heavy as it was when I stopped watching? How does it compare to NXT?

Generally the lower card TV matches are on the shorter side (probably 4-7 minutes, unless it's just a squash match), but the main events get a good amount of time (15-20 minutes). It's definitely more promo/backstage segment driven than NXT. The quality of action is mostly great, especially at the top of the card. The women could still use some work, like someone mentioned earlier in the thread, and some of the lower card guys are average at best, but there's plenty of good stuff. The most recent episode, for example, had two great matches (Pentagon Jr. vs. Matt Sydal, and Austin Aries vs. Eddie Edwards) that both got about 17 minutes.

That sounds great, worry was it’d still be promo heavy like when Bischoff and Carter were running it into the ground - but that’s a really high amount of wrestling action. Will definitely see if I can get into it again. Shame about the women but I guess wwe literally stole everyone decent. I’m kind of scared now to see how much further they could have destroyed Abyss’s character and costume design..

He's only had 5 matches in Impact since the Decay break-up in April 2017, with four of those being for a storyline with Grado and Kongo Kong. His last match was back in March, and I don't think he's showed up since then.

When he was booked well in the asylum and early impact arena days he was a incredible character.

I don't mind a squash match or two, or a couple of green guys, in my TV wrestling. I like variety, and that's what they've been giving me lately. I t all seems fresh, m ight be because I haven't really followed it since Ron Killings was champ.
