Have you seen Dangerous Days? If so is it worth the running time? I'm thinking about giving it a shot because the Blade Runner universe fascinates me. Oh yes, I watch Dangerous Days a couple times a year. It's basically just a documentary from how Blade Runner went from the book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep to becoming the film. Lots of great background info. Hampton Fancher who wrote the screenplay for Blade Runner even originally titled the movie Dangerous Days as the term Blade Runner was neither in the original book or script. There is also a debate among the cast and crew on whether or not Deckard is a Replicant. Ridley Scott maintains he is, but most everyone else including Harrison Ford maintains he isn't. Lots of info on the background world from the book and a nice section on futurist Syd Mead creating the aesthetic look of the world in insane detail and how the visuals of Blade Runner have become the archetype of what a cyberpunk world looks like. Cool, thanks! That sounds like a killer documentary. Hopefully it's up there with Jodorowsky's Dune that I watched not too long ago.

Yooh funni gye, Suhlee - aye keel yooh lahest Your move, creep These are things I like to say Didn't go for the low hanging fruit, eh? GET TO ZHA CHOPAH!!! I watched an old favourite of mine today, a classic that needs rewatching every so ofter. There's Something about Mary, I don't have a clue how many times I've seen it, but I never get sick of it. Matt Dillon plays such an awesome slime ball, every character is totally full of shit except for Ben Stiller and Cameron Diaz. If you haven't seen this gem, check it out. I don't know what the hell happened to the Farrelly brothers as a director team, but I wish they were still making stuff. Another one I rewatched recently is a fun, little known movie that I saw some time ago but need to rewatch from time to time is The Chase with Charlie Sheen and Kristy Swanson. Sounds odd, but it's pretty epic. Henry Rollins of BLACK FLAG plays a cop in it, it is a thing of beauty. There are some cameos in it that I will not spoil the movie with in case anyone wants to check it out. Enjoy!

I’ve always liked Ben Stiller - Meet the Parents; Something about Mary... the first quarter of Heartbreak Kid always makes me laugh (see: DEVIATED SEPTUM). He was good in Curb Your Enthusiasm and Arrested Development, too

There's Something About Mary is still one of the best comedy movies I've seen.
"You a salesman? I am. You want in?"
Classic along with Kingpin and the original Naked Gun... probably my favorite comedies.

Ernie McKracken was an epic sleaze ball, and that rose in the clear ball. Wow. If you liked Naked Gun, please tell me you you've seen the short lived but awesome series Police Squad (on which Naked Gun was based), and the movie AIRPLANE!

I just finished watching this movie called The Ninth Configuration (1980). It's directed by William Blatty, the same guy that wrote The Exorcist novel and directed the very underrated Exorcist III movie.
I'd highly recommend this. It's like a cross between The Exorcist III and One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, and it absolutely works as a philosophical / existential thriller with dark comedic undertones. Stacy Keach is tremendous in this, as is most of the cast.
It's actually a bit shocking that so very few people know about it.

I enjoyed The Ninth Configuration as well, great acting especially from Stacy Keach...but it was pretty bizarre and I admit to getting a little lost during the final third...

I enjoyed The Ninth Configuration as well, great acting especially from Stacy Keach...but it was pretty bizarre and I admit to getting a little lost during the final third... I'll have to rewatch some of it myself to get a better grasp on the underlying message. Seems like the gist is about processing and dealing with trauma without allowing oneself to descend into complete madness. SPOILER - Stacy Keach's character wants to believe that there is love / "good" in the world despite having been a ruthless killing machine in his early years as Killer Kane (actions instigated by outside influences in the heat of battle). He uses this belief as evidence that a God-like essence exists. His whole time attending to patients in the Ward seems to serve as a subconscious cleansing process against his own violent repressed past. When he sacrifices himself to save Cutshaw at the end of the movie I think it was to prove to himself and to Cutshaw that love DID exist because he was driven to a selfless act. At the very end Cutshaw (who was skeptical of the idea of "God") seemed to have accepted / acknowledged the goodness in Kane's act, and thus freeing himself of his own self-psychological tormenting in the process. At least that's how I saw it. ^ My god this scene is so powerful. Legitimately one of the most tenseful moments I've seen on screen since the russian roulette scene in The Deer Hunter. You can FEEL Kane losing control and skirting the edges of madness. Stacy Keach truly tapped into the role and took it to frightening levels.

Last night I watched the original Blade Runner for the first time. Wow this movie is just perfect in every conceivable way. They rarely make cinematic experiences like this anymore. Blade Runner is one of my favorite movies of all time. I'm actually glad I skipped out on the sequel. Everyone I knew said it was whack.

I don't think that the sequel is whack, but I definitely don't think that it captures the magic of the original film. Denis Villeneuve tried his best to preserve the atmosphere but to me it was an overly long film that didn't say or do much that hasn't been said or done better in other films. Also doesn't help that I find both Ryan Gosling and Jared Leto to be two of the most overrated actors in Hollywood. Ana de Armas is surprisingly effective in her role though, and her charm ended up being the highlight of the film for me. The film has a few moments. I'll give it that. Oh yeah, and I wasn't a fan that they shoehorned in some things (that of which I won't mention to avoid spoilers). They even throw in a few Vangelis cues from the original score in certain scenes that feels forced more than anything. Hans Zimmer is certainly no Vangelis IMO, and his score made the movie feel like just another Denis Villeneuve / Christopher Nolan picture which strips it of it's dreamy appeal.

^ Uhh, why does it appear as if my reply was written by facesoffoley? I'm trying to edit it and it's not functioning.
