Super Fire Pro-Wrestling X Edit Wrestler Guide Known in Japan as "エディットレスラーガイド―スーパーファイヤープロレスリングX" Pages: 98 Year: 1995 Publisher: T2 Publishing Co. Ltd. The one guidebook that Fire Pro enthusiasts keep asking about is the Super Fire Pro-Wrestling X Edit Wrestler Guide. As to my knowledge, this particular strategy guide was the last Edit Wrestler book dedicated solely to custom Wrestler formulas for use with the Fire Pro-Wrestling series. In total, there are 57 unique edit Wrestler formulas to be found within. Many of which are recognizable foreign Wrestlers from the west.
Since SFPWX continues to generate a cult following online, there's no time like the present to share this obscure guidebook with everyone. As always,
check back often as more pages are added. The front and back dust cover. The back cover features Edit Wrestlers like Macho Man Randy Savage, Animal Hamaguchi, Black Tiger Mask, Shunji Takano and even William Regal among others!

Awesome! I wonder how prevalent this edit book was in the SRAM community - I know at least one save I played with recently had that funky looking Regal Super Fire Pro-Wrestling X was rumoured to be one of the first Fire Pro titles to receive press in western gaming magazines. Though, it was the followup title Six Men Scramble on the Sega Saturn that developed a serious fanbase overseas. To this day, several original 6MS fansites remain online from 20+ years ago. Relics from the dial-up modem era.
In Japan, I know Fire Pro had an official Fire Pro forum as far back as 1994. The forum was part of the Nifty server, and was called GOFBATTL (as mentioned in related guidebooks from the time). Players could submit CAW formulas for Super Fire Pro-Wrestling Special for "fierce competitions". I would imagine players could copy CAW formulas and try them out with their own simming.
It was also through these forums, apparently, that Goichi Suda (the man responsible for Special's Champion Road story), received lots of hatemail from angry players inquiring about how to unlock Special's "good" ending. Inner dust cover advertising other guidebooks that were released by T2 at the time. Front and back inner covers. Table of contents. Pages 2 - 3: introduction to the creating process. Pages 4 - 5: Wrestler Maker and Parameter explanations. Pages 6 - 7: Wrestler skill explanation. Pages 8 - 9: CPU Logic explanation.

Pages 10 - 11: testing out your CAW wrestler, fall techniques, balance and other points. Pages 12 - 13: a diagram of how the following Edit Wrestler formulas are organized in the next section: Edit Wrestler Part 1. Pages 14 - 15: Osher Kimura (Rusher Kimura). Tatsutoshi Gotoh is the base. On the following page, each edit includes two suggested matches. In Rusher's case, the suggested opponents are fellow AJPW veteran Genichiro Tenryu and Antonio Inoki. Pages 16 - 17: Garland Bosch (Roland Bock). Roland's template is original. X/X Premium was Bock's second appearance in a Fire Pro game. The lesser-known Wrestling great first appeared as an unlockable character in the previous Fire Pro title: 1994's Super Fire Pro-Wrestling Special. Bock's suggested matchups are dream matches between two other technical Wrestling: Rick Steiner and Gary Albright!

Pages 18 - 19: The Corn Beef (The Convict). Uses The Destroyer as a template. Convict's suggested dream matches are Tiger Mask and The Great Sasuke. Pages 20 - 21: First Generation Black Panther (Black Tiger). Tiger uses Black Panther as a template. Tiger's dream match is a 'Panther vs Panther' fight against the second generation Black Tiger Eddie Guerrero. Tiger's second suggested fight is against the Dynamite Kid, who was a legendary rival of the original Tiger Mask. Pages 22 - 23: Ryuji Takada (Yuji Nagata). Nagata uses Jumbo Tsuruta as a template. Nagata's suggested matches are Yoshihiro Takayama (who also needs to be created in-game. Takayama's formula is on page 55), as well as (who looks like) Shinjiro Ohtani.

Scorpio's suggested matches are against two notable high flyers: Hayabusa and El Samurai. Pages 30 - 31. Page 30 advertises the release of Super Fire Pro-Wrestling X Premium and the X-BAND accessory, which granted players in Japan the ability to access online matches.
SFPWX was the first Fire Pro title to feature online play. The X BAND accessory required the use of a phone line, as well as a subscription service to use the X-BAND modem.

Part 2 of the Edit Wrestler section features more Edit Wrestler formulas ...just without CPU logic. I guess this was intended to save space... Page 32: Abdul The Danger (Abdullah The Butcher). Page 33: Shoji Ando (Yoji Anjo). Yoji uses Rikidozan as a template.

If I counted correctly, that 57 edit formulas. When I finally get around to releasing my save pack I'll include one that has all of these.
And thanks a boatload for posting these scans.

Can someone help with a translation? Rick Rude's formula has an asterisks in one of the spots for his color selections. This presumably is explained in his text at the top, but I do not read a single word of Japanese. Can anyone tell me what this says? (I'm currently making his edit in the game.)

Google has a reverse image search option that can roughly translate text for you. "An athlete who gained popularity for his flashy tights and waist-kneed dance. He is good at trying to outwit his opponents with his sophisticated techniques and psychological warfare, and his tactics in the match against Date were, in a sense, a masterpiece. For the color of the tights, just set the first G of number 80 to 14".
