Famitsu Issue 10: Preview of Pro Wrestling with some artwork y'all might enjoy. Almost look like a genga version of the art work (hopefully it carries over and not just an anime term). Or someone at Famitsu traced the art for the magazine

Simple yet effective, the Pro-Wrestling match theme is a catchy little jingle. One that pops into my mind every so often, and once it's there, it's quite difficult to get out.
One might argue that the lesser-known HAL Wrestling/Puroresu on the gameboy is the unofficial sequel to this 8-bit classic.
If HUMAN didn't go on to make the Fire Pro-Wrestling series, we probably would have had more sequels featuring Star Man and co.

Famitsu Issue 116: Champion Wrestler, in this build if you look at the weapons portion, it appears that a bucket and chair were initially in the build. It reminds me of LJN's WWF Raw (mainly because of the bucket being a weapon)

Man I really wish they would have continued this series . This and NES would have been some great video games . Hopefully the next gen games will have some storylines or create a storyline .

Yep i know about that game . I’ve never played it but I have read about it . Thank you for letting me know , I guess what I was wishing for was a game like Wrestlemania 2000 or No Mercy with those characters and story lines . I’m hoping Ultra Pro Wrestling will what I’m looking for .

Be sure to give Royal Pro-Wrestling on the 3D0 a try, too. Has the best, most-cheesiest cut scenes of any Wrestling game's career mode, by far.

Oh I can’t wait to review it, I love the roster “Rich Flair” is an all time favorite also for everyone on this thread, sorry I have not been uploading recently. Doing some audio mixing for a video and a translation of the “Cutie Suzuki No Ringside Angel” manual… and if all goes well, I’ll have some announcements for the guidebook scan thread!

Champion Wrestler looks really good, I don’t know how so many of these games just never made it here.
I was watching the video and it occurred to me that somehow the ring bell has become the official sound of the low blow/nut shot for wrestling games. I’d love to find out how that started and if it’s a running joke to keep the tradition alive!

I’d love to find out how that started and if it’s a running joke to keep the tradition alive! Off the top of my head, Super Fire Pro-Wrestling on the Super Famicom (1991) and Fire Pro-Wrestling 2nd Bout (1991) both have the bell sound effect, when going for low blows. I don't think the bell sound effect comes from some sort of Japanese pop culture comedy skit or reference. Champion Wrestler Jikkyou Raibu always felt more like a Fire Pro clone, anyway. Which, isn't a bad thing at all, really.

Update: Good news - Guides came in! (Well guides and 1 Manga) Bad news - I probably won't get to scanning until next year. With so many guides, I'm going to be looking at saving up for a decent document camera with book correction and not relying on my slow flatbed scanner. But until then I'll keep on digging for some magazine articles!

Ooh, that virtual pro one looks interesting, the Giant Gram one would be fun to look back on, too! I forgot about Rumble Roses, that was a pretty fun game, even though I could care less about Joshi stuff. Nice finds!
