WWF Wrestlemania on the NES was the first Wrestling game I ever played. Heck, it was one of the first video games my dad brought home for my brother and I. Not a great start to the genre, but, it was the first licensed NES game to have Hulk Hogan on the cover.
The controls were sluggish, graphics were subpar (even for 1987's more-lenient standards), and I always found the CPU very cheap. Yet, as an old school Wrestling fan, WWF Wrestlemania was a game that I would boot up every couple of years to see if I could finally get into the game. Short answer: I couldn't.
The game was so unpolished that certain Wrestlers had different button inputs to freakin' pin an opponent!
The followup title WrestleMania Challenge was a step in the right direction with much improvement, though many players agree that WWF Royal Rumble was the
first decent LJN-created Wrestling game.

Posting tonight and will probably be doing night posts as opposed to early morning ones. Famitsu Issue 54 Page 145: Superstar Pro Wrestling preview. The character sprites in this preview seem more detailed than the final build, with shadows provided to show extra definition. I am also starting to wonder about the images in the middle of the article. Is that a Tiger Jeet Singh in the top circle or a blurry Brody? I almost thought the game had isometric in-ring action from that image, but I noticed it was outside of the ring, which was a feature in the final game.

Wow I wonder why they didn’t flesh out the characters ? It’s been along while since I saw these .

I remember seeing a tiny screen grab, like the one above, but of FPD way back. It was in no holds bared fighting cage, and Macho Man was in there with someone. It was a North American magazine that had a couple of pages featuring Japanese game “previews” (a quick paragraph summary). That picture blew my mind, so many scenarios went through my head, and back then, it was impossible to get the instant gratification/knowledge we have now!
I need to watch that transformers movie again… 😁

Other than the arcade port of Tag Team Pro-Wrestling from Japan, Tiger's in-game sprites never featured Tiger's signature turban.
