Yeah, Eternic is a developer for another game that uses Workshop support.

Carl posted a fix if you're not willing to wait for Steam to update.
Steam also usually updates on Tuesday, so unless it was silently fixed, it will hopefully be tomorrow.

It appears that Steam wasn't fixed and the issues still persist. I've installed the fix and it's hit or miss if it crashes or not.
I'll deal with crashes if it's the only way we can use the Workshop for now, but I'm not gonna continuously replace the file over and over again to be able to download things.

Unless I missed it, it doesn't appear that Steam had any software or launcher update today. I even had Steam check for updated but it said no and I should feel bad for asking. Maybe one will come tomorrow.
On the Steam forums in reaction to the official 12/6 Bug notice, DNMT posted:
If this is the case, I'm guessing maybe Steam is taking a while to work this out. Hopefully, they are even doing some bug testing on the potential update so that it doesn't break anything worse.
(Spike could take a note from that, am i rite? π€¦ββοΈ)
I'm still personally content waiting for an official fix from Steam. Installing the temporary fix would take me some time and energy to figure out that I just don't have. Fixing any issues that could come from that fix would just be impossible right now. Although it sucks to not have Workshop access, I'm fairly content that my game is operational right now for simming and mild edit work. I definitely want the problem fixed but I'm okay with this situation right now given the time I am able to even put into FPW. I won't be if it continues til like February.

I installed the fix and the game crashed three times during caching. I'm gonna try disabling caching to see if it helps at all, if not, I'll get the moves I need for these edits I want to finish and that'll be it until there's an official update, if any.
Very annoying, whatever Steam did to cause this.
It's nothing Spike Chunsoft did or didn't do, so I don't think it'll matter if they do anything at all. I'd be even more annoyed if they made an update and it broke more crap. The game has worked relatively issue-free for the two years we've had Move Craft available to us.

I'm gonna try disabling caching to see if it helps at all, if not, I'll get the moves I need for these edits I want to finish and that'll be it until there's an official update, if any. That sucks, sorry about the crashing. I REALLY hope you can at least get the game back to a regular playable state, even if it means waiting on Workshop access again. Very annoying, whatever Steam did to cause this. I wonder if it was just one update or a progression of them. I say that because even though that one update was directly responsible for us losing the ability to download new subscriptions, I've detected bigger issues with Steam recently. About a month ago, Steam did a major update that totally changed the log-in user interface. It took longer for the UI to even come up before putting in my information. Then it regularly started taking about 30 seconds for Steam to even load properly (including the annoying pop-up ad). It used to take 5 seconds. Steam has been consistently sluggish for me since then. I'm really not surprised that they did something that broke the Workshop for so many people. It's nothing Spike Chunsoft did or didn't do, so I don't think it'll matter if they do anything at all. I'd be even more annoyed if they made an update and it broke more crap. The game has worked relatively issue-free for the two years we've had Move Craft available to us. Yeah, I'd be nervous if Spike tried to fix this as well. Even at their best, each update was like 2 steps forward and 1 step back. But they have totally disavowed the game for years so the likelihood they'd have the wherewithal and concentration to fix this issue without breaking another one is really low. "You folks don't need ripcord moves anymore, right?" "NOOOOOOOO! π€―"

I was at least able to get one of those goofy ass HBK sells that FPW made for WHIP Nanae.
I'm pretty sure I have the moves I need for these other edits; Unless I decide to change them at some point, I should be okay.
Stuff like this is why I've burned out on creating anything in Fire Pro in the last year.

Stuff like this is why I've burned out on creating anything in Fire Pro in the last year. 100% this sentiment for me too: specifically because of my game crashing for 2 straight months π Nothing like watching my game crash while deleting Workshop items to allow my game to be playable again.

I've crashed six or seven times tonight, which is rather unusual. This is the most I've had the game crash on me without using the ModPack since Early Access days.
I have just over 7500 items, so I may be reaching the limit of what I can have installed at any given time.
I'm gonna go through my save sometime tomorrow and over the weekend to weed out stuff I'm not actively using. I know I've got at least a few dozen edits I can uninstall.

That really sucks about the crashes. Did they happen more in matches or edit mode?
I didn't have any crashes last night but I also didn't do anything that stressed the game. After confirming that subscriptions worked again, I just went into edit mode (with a small resolution window) to check to see whether my recently subscribed to moves were acknowledged. I didn't sim any matches. I just kind of left the game on in the background and it seemed to be fine as my usual screensaver.
I'm going to test out sims today. I will note though that my game started crashing during sims about a week or so before December 2 (when this whole Steam thing happened) since I had allowed my subscriptions to accumulate again. I was also not being diligent at deleting moves for every new ones I subscribed to. I allowed the bountiful harvest season to distract me and now I'm at 7942. So I expect some crashes to occur when simming and potentially even during edit mode (especially in appearance menu) until I pare my subscriptions down again. But if I notice any unusual glitching or more glitching than usual, I'll let you know.
