Not surprisingly, a certain Dream Japan was working on the game, and this was their first project. Publisher kss was more interested in gambling, they released many casino games on snes.

If you want to be a real glutton for punishment, Hyper Tag Match has a mode that puts World Championship to shame. It's called "100 matches" and is organized like a league mode of sorts. The name 100 matches comes from the fact that you have to face all 23 opponents 5 times in a row (which actually makes it "115 matches", but, who's counting?). This doesn't seem like a chore until you actually play a round and see how unresponsive the game really is. To make matters worse, the usual 10 minute time limit is reduced to a mere 3 minutes per round. Leaving very little margin for error in a match. But, knowing me, I'll probably play through all 115 terrible matches just to see if there's hidden characters. I doubt it, though.

That sounds awful. I remember playing grand turismo a long time ago, I managed to get a substantial lead in a long race I was in. I was very happy with my progress, then I glanced at my clock, and realized I’d been going around the same virtual track for 35 real minutes. I questioned what I was doing with my life, turned the game off, and never played it again. 115 matches with shitty controls? You’re taking one for the team, I salute you!!! 😁
Maybe that will unlock the REAL game that actually works, and it will be better than AKI wrestling games!

As I've gotten older, I have less desire to play really long games. Any time I spend more than a week on a game I feel like I'm wasting my life. But when I was younger I would spend hours on end collecting and trying to get 100% on whatever game I was playing. Maybe that's why I haven't played a Red Dead game yet. I want to but I just don't want to invest the time.

If you thought going through 115 matches in Sengokuden 2 Hyper Tag Match was brutal, then I got four words for you: Gekitou Burning Pro-Wrestling
In it's own right, Gekitou Burning Pro-Wrestling on the Super Famicom is a great Wrestling game. Over 100 characters to choose from, Fire Pro-styled controls, different match types, an Edit mode, a Royal Rumble mode and even the ability to play as the Referee. But, Gekitou's World Championship mode is a different story. Your first task is to clear nine different promotions. Each with their own unique rules and stipulations. Some match types won't let you perform Piledrivers. Others will deduct points for hitting an opponent when down. Players accustomed to plowing through modes with one playstyle are in for a rude awakening. But, those are all positive aspects. The real fun is clearing the second part of World Championship mode. The highlighted mode above is only unlocked after becoming champion in all nine promotions. From here, the player must then play through a gauntlet of all 116 players to unlock the true ending. Misawa and Stan Hansen's individual endings. Each Wrestler is given a few frames of animation and a winning pose during the game's ending. So, to see every Wrestler-specific ending in the game, you'd have to play through all 116 matches with all 117 characters equalling: ... ... ...13572 matches. There's little variation in playthroughs. Players are essentially playing through the same World Championship mode with the same order of opponents 117 times in a row. Unfortunately, there's no game genie codes to automatically bypass a match (like the ones for X Premium). Meaning, I've never heard of anyone who's fully beaten Gekitou Burning Pro-Wrestling with all the characters. Do some Wrestlers share the same winning animations? Is every Wrestler unique? Even I'm not sure. But, I felt this exercise in frustration may be one of the most demanding and hardcore feats of any Pro-Wrestling game. A feat most gamers will probably reject even thinking about.

In the past, I mentioned Pro-Wrestling Sengokuden Hyper Tag Match (a.k.a. the worst 3D Wrestling game ever made). A couple of posts ago, I also mentioned Hyper Tag Match's "100 Matches" mode. A mode where the player has to face all 23 opponents 5 times a piece. As if 115 matches wasn't enough, I've just discovered there's no way to exit out of the mode or save progress. Meaning all 115 matches, at just 3 minutes a piece, have to be completed in one sitting! Thank god for save states. At the moment, I logged 40 out of the 115 wins. Will we unlock new characters (and trust me, if we do, I'm posting the save file here so you guys don't have to go through this torture)? Or will this all be in vain? Stay tuned to find out.

So, I played through 100 matches mode in Hyper Tag Match! The above reads: 100 matches. 095 wins. 000 losses. 005 Draws.Turns out there are in fact only 100 matches needed to complete the mode. And what did I unlock you may ask? Absolutely nothing. Straight back to the menu screen. Since there's no save feature, it would take a player roughly 5 hours nonstop to complete this mode. A mode, I may add, that unlocks nothing. The idea behind 100 Matches comes from Karate legend Mas Oyama (the man responsible for popularizing Karate in the West)'s famous 300 man kumite - where Oyama defeated 300 men over the course of three days. The reduced time limit of 100 matches mode was inspired by the short amount of time Oyama defeated his opponents - most of which were taken down with only one punch. So, do I feel like 'Godhand' Mas Oyama? No. I do however feel like I have a high tolerance for bad Wrestling games, though...

Mobile Wrestling games where:
- the in-game models are stolen from WWE titles.
- The models are then poorly scribbled over...in hopes of not being recognized by the WWE.
- Gameplay is spammed with constant ads.
- Only two characters available from the start.
- The other eight characters and levels can only be unlocked after paying $23.99.
Sadly, these practices are more common than you think in today's mobile Wrestling genre.

Looking for a mobile wrestling game would never even cross my mind, the fact there are so many, thoroughly cataloged in your wrestler appearances topic, is mind boggling. I just couldn’t see anything on offer mobile wise being of any quality or worth playing control wise.

I just couldn’t see anything on offer mobile wise being of any quality or worth playing control wise. Like you, BakFu, I prefer using a keyboard/gamepad. Though, there are games (like M. Dickie's Wrestling Revolution) which do support the option to disable touch screen inputs, and switch out for a controller. Most of the time, you can spot these shady titles with their ultra-generic names. Some even deceptively use the WWE in their titles: Then there's Wrestling games in the Play Store that flat out lie to gamers: posting bogus screenshots that look nothing like the games available for download. How tactics like this are still a thing in 2023 is beyond me. Just goes to show you how unsupervised the Play Store is these days.

SERIOUS PROPS FOR TAKING THAT BULLET... i always wondered wtf that mode was about and what was at the end... now we know hahahahaha So, I played through 100 matches mode in Hyper Tag Match! SERIOUS PROPS FOR TAKING THAT BULLET... i always wondered wtf that mode was about and what was at the end... now we know hahahahaha Simply because no one - within Japan or otherwise, has ever mentioned completing 100 matches mode before. Japanese Wrestling games can also be very cryptic with their secrets. In Super Fire Pro-Wrestling Special, I'm currently trying to max out the win counter. My save file currently reads: 23464 wins 10005 losses Tried using emulator codes to hack my win count with game genie/Pro Action Replay ....no luck.

In case I haven't mentioned it before, one of my least favourite types of Wrestling games are browser-based ones. Specifically, browser games littered with unavoidable ads that create serious lag, rendering a game unplayable. My most recent foray into the world of browser lag would be Wrestle Bros on the crazygames.com website. The server was just bombarded with ads, that bordered the play window. The more animated the ad was - the slower the gameplay for Wrestle Bros became. Which prompted me to
start the whole game over on the game's actual website: wrestlebros.ioAds are a necessary evil in today's streaming/app world, but when a player has to activate an ad-blocker just to play a Wrestling game at normal speed? That just sucks.

Okay, my turn.
While I have played almost every wrestling videogame in existence Only a few Absolute turds come to mind. Keep in mind I grew up in America so didn't get to play a lot of the Japanese titles that were listed earlier. With that being said yes wrestlemania for NES wasn't very good but as a 12-year-old kid I loved it so I can't really call it one of the worst. I would say Simpson's wrestling was a bitter pill to swallow because I love all things wrestling and all things Simpsons but this was absolutely trash. Smackdown 2 Was mentioned but I don't recall the load times being that bad. I do recall having 75 minute matches with my nephew and it was a ton of fun. Was never a big fan of Capcom slamMasters, Didn't hate it but just wasn't a fan.
I had a friend who worked in the industry and A few months before Nitro for the PlayStation one and WCW versus NWO For the N64 was released I told them how much I was looking forward to Nitro just based on the amazing graphics. He said "don't even bother with the PlayStation version just stick with the Nintendo 64" and that was all he said. When Nitro was released it was sold out at all of our electronics boutiques where I live so I ended up driving 90 miles to the nearest one to buy it. Got home, put it in and after five minutes I was let way down. The first Match I picked DDP and wrestled Hulk Hogan. Right away Hogan picks me up for a power bomb and then does a dropkick.
Now that I think about it I may have returned this game.
Muscle for the NES was not good.
Fire Pro for the Xbox 360 was an abomination.
