Well. I made 3 volumes of Acclaim Supercard, so I've probably had to suffer through 1000 hours of the worst wrestling games ever. For me, the top 5 are:
- Legends of Wrestling (all of them) - WCW Nitro / Thunder - WCW Backstage Assault - Backyard Wrestling 1 and 2 - Every Acclaim game. Yes, all of them. Warzone, Attitude, Hardcore Revolution, Anarchy Rulz, etc etc (redundant because it includes LOW but they also made WM The Arcade game ports and In Your House)
Honorable mention to Raw on Xbox, Royal Rumble on Dreamcast, and Iron Slam 96 lol

WCW Backstage Assault, ECW Hardcore Revolution were two I played that were really poor. ECW was just a Wish.com version of WWF Attitude.
I saw WCW Thunder mentioned...I thing I liked was being able to change the faction of each wrestler.

Yeah, the Acclaim ones are GARBAGE! Warzone did have one tiny redeeming quality though. 32-33 seconds in, Stone Cold’s taunt is beautiful, and became my only real reason to turn this abomination on at all after a point (Ron Simmons at 1:20 was a close second!).
Mankind and Golddust had really annoying ones if I remember correctly. 😬

WWF Steel Cage Challenge on the NES.
- Small sprites that looked like they were lifted from the Gameboy port. - Every Wrestler had the exact same moves. - About five moves total. - The cage took up most of the screen. - You didn't even need to fully exit the cage to win a match (just climb to the top).
Oh, and the punches and kicks sounded like oinks.
The previous entry Wrestlemania Challenge was infinitely better in just about every department.

How could I forget WCW Superbrawl Wrestling on the SNES?
- Awkward punches and kicks that have a hard time connecting. - Creepy and repetitive crowd noise that loops every 3 seconds. - Walk animations that make the Wrestlers look like they soiled themselves. - Lousy, recycled graphics. Case and point: Big Van Vader in a leotard. - The most annoying character select screen in the history of videogames.
This clunker is all but forgotten now, but boy oh boy did it suck. Not the best reminder of WCW's decline in popularity during the early 90's.

A lot of the old WCW games are absolute trash. It's almost unfair to call them my least favorite wrestling games, so I don't think this will count. I remember WCW World Tour being a lot of fun despite kinda sucking at it.
The LJN games aren't very good, but they have a certain charm to them that makes them fun to bust out on occasion. Every time a wrestler slams into the ring post in Fire Pro and takes a bump, I'm reminded of the "ARGH!" and thud sounds from them colliding with the turnbuckles in the LJN games lol.
I really dislike a lot of the PS3 era WWE games. Everything was just rehash after rehash after rehash. If WWE or AEW makes a wrestling game that's a one-time purchase and adds DLC to the game over time, I'd probably play that if the gameplay and customization is up to snuff.

I remember enjoying WCW Vs The World. I think it was one of the first 3D Wrestling games on the Playstation. The big problem with a lot of gamers was the roster itself. Few licensed names paired with a large assortment of knockoffs. Unless the player really knew their Japanese Wrestling, the significance of characters renamed Abispa or Saladin didn't mean much. Today, I'm going over an obscure Commodore 64 Wrasslin' title called "Take Down" from 1988.

I LOVED WCW vs The World for PS1! I played the crap out of that game, and pissed off/alienated many a friend in two player games using Moma and Thunder Dome 😁
It was funny, I recognized Bas, Funaki, and Shamrock from martial arts magazines that I was reading, but still didn’t know who anyone else was at the time. A friend of mine liked using Samoa because he looked so odd, had huge hands, and moved like a senior citizen! 🤣

"WCW vs. the World" actually got me back into wrestling and wrestling games.
I stopped watching wrestling around 1994-5 for various reasons. One day in 1998 I was at an EB Games and saw that "WCW vs. the World" was marked down to like $15-20. I was looking for something new to play and missed wrestling games so I bought it. I was so excited when I saw the roster!! It had some of my favorites of all time. It also had cool trading of Championships, "title for title," and other perks. But the best part was definitely the gameplay. I was shocked at how fun it was to play. As a result of getting into the game, I gave wrestling another try and got back into it. Soon after, I'd get "WCW/NWO Revenge," then Smackdown 1, then Smackdown 2 ("yikes" as mentioned before 😆 ), then No Mercy, then Fire Pro D. But without "WCW vs. the World," I may not have gotten back into things.

Thanks!! 😄
I really wish I could be around more and posting consistently like I used to and wanted to this summer.
It's scary to think what would have happened if I didn't go to EBgames that day. I still think I would have gotten back into wrestling eventually but I wouldn't have had that game catalyst to lead to Fire Pro.

If we're going to talk about terrible Wrestling games, I'm going to throw another odd one at you guys. Feast your eyes on what I consider the worst 3D Wrestling title of all time: Pro Wrestling Sengokuden: Hyper Tag Match
Don't let the promising title and familiar looking faces fool you. There's nothing Hyper about this clunker. Sengokuden moves at a sluggishly slow speed. The controls (especially during lockups) are incredibly unresponsive and the hit detection is pretty much non-existent. To make the snail pace even worse, most matches have a 10 minute time limit and a CPU that's downright unforgiving to newcomers. Match customizations (or just a general options menu) aren't available either. You aren't even given the option to pause.

Is KSS the precursor to Yukes? 🤣 KSS and Yukes are two separate entities. KSS Predates Yukes by five years and apparently went bankrupt in 2004. The sad thing is, I discovered KSS released THREE Pro-Wrestling Sengokuden games on the PS1! The crap factor just keeps coming. The first and third game revolve round a career mode ...which is entirely in Japanese. * Will Shadow Master attempt to use his limited knowledge of Japanese to navigate the career mode's Japanese-only menus and dialogue? * Will Shadow Master play Sengokuden long enough to discover the pause button? * Do these games even have a pause button?Find out the answer to these and other questions when we return.
