I think gradients became over used. Not every edit needed them and it really only worked perfectly for a few edits. The layer system looks more polished, where as the gradients sometimes made the edits look like hack jobs.

Yeah I miss them. Certain things just aren't possible to do with the layers....

I genuinely believe the colors themselves looked better in the older games than they do in Fire Pro World. Everything is too smooth.
As for the tricks you could do? I miss a few, but the improvements to everything else are too massive at this point to get hung up on 'em.

Layers all the way. Gradients were nice, but you get way more utility out of layers that I honestly can't believe people would still prefer the gradient system over what we have now. ^^^This is a wise man.

Only when I'm trying to make Raven's torn jeans. And probably again whenever I get around to making Blanka again. Of course, having chest hair parts redeems Blanka somewhat.
Now that I'm thinking about it, it was really nice for hair, too.
But other than that, no. Just the sheer fact of having everything separated, to use the hair example, lets you add, oh...ANY SINGLE ONE of the 600+ hairs in the game as opposed to the two or so that were separate pieces and actually useful in FPR, is an improvement by an order of magnitude. It is without exaggeration 200-300 times better. Roughly.
I can do boots over tights now. There didn't used to be enough layers to do that and still have any detail in the boot. I mean, I could probably spend a day, and I have no idea why "boots over tights" is the first thing in my head (Wait, yeah I do. It was fuckin' up my Bret Hart) but the gains FAR outweigh, and in most cases replace, the loss of individually editing the gradients in a color.

I don't. The layer system is far better.

Not at all. The new system is far superior.

I don't miss them as much as I miss gameplay videos. Definition of priorities in the right order.

Is it weird that the thing I miss the most from past Fire Pro games is the outdoor arena from Fire Pro Z? Especially because I never even owned or played FPZ As for gradients, I was personally never able to put them to great use nor did I necessarily try to. So I don't personally miss them but I know there are those here who were awesome with them. Thing is, most of those people are now able to get maximum use out of the current FPW layer system to excellent results too.

Whilst it would be nice to have gradiants in World as an additional option to what we already have, there's absolutely no chance in hell I'd give up the new layers system and go back to the "old" ways. Gradiants were amazing in Returns... but times have changed and for the better.

I'm genuinely confused as to why people keep making this an either/or thing. Layers are good. Gradients were good. Some appearances would be freaking fantastic if we could use both.

Layers are much easier for me. I hardly miss having Gradients now.
