Bushido Blade could count for mid match finishes.

Without meaning to irk the fighter purists I always wondered if a good fighting game has ever been made with more than two fighters fighting at once and/or mid match finishers. The only games I can think of are Dragon (three players), Little Fighter (eight maybe players) and Barbarian (mid match decapatations)... but I'm hardly an aficionado.
Flying Dragon had a sort of "weak spot" gimmick for the 1 on 1 fights IIRC.
I suppose you could count Fighter's History too in that regard.
ArcSys in various forms has toyed with this, ie Instant Kill, Astral Heat, although especially later they tend to have pretty specific "full meter, opponent near dead anyway" conditions.
Kengo is from the same developers as Bushido Blade (Lightweight), but generally isn't seen as all that good a successor.

Not really a surprise since they were accidentally leaked via a foolish mx-up at an event last month but here are the official Soul Calibur Vi reveal vids for Cervantes and Raphael, as well as a video (in Japanese) detailing the available game modes.

You know what's a good game that never got the attention it deserved? Samurai Shodown V Special.
I think it's only been available twice (legally...), once as part of an anthology of the entire series, and once as a standalone title on PSN. However, it feels like the best game in the series aside, maybe, from SamSho 2. It has a really varied cast of characters and for the most part they're all really nicely balanced. Only a couple stand out as being extremely weak - mainly Nakoruru, who is mostly held back by her low damage per hit.
Like the rest of the SamSho series, it's not about flashy combos - instead it's a game of aggressive spacing and mind reads, of time management based on the POW/Rage meter and, when you've disarmed your opponent, controlling the play area to keep him from getting back on equal footing.

The Network Test/beta for Soul Calibur VI is live on PSN (And presumably XBox One as well)
It's been pretty fun.
Huge change in things from IV to VI (I didn't play a lot of V, as its bareness and roster exasperated me).
I was always going to get the game but now this makes me want to consider doing competitive online play with it at least a bit more than I had previously.

Mmmm, Tina.
After not really playing DOA5 much at all, I wasn't really considering buying DOA6. But Tina, like I said, mmmm. She's very close to Mileena for my #1 all-time video game waifu.

Yeah, Tina's pretty awesome but Bass is the man!
That entire trio was a lot of fun in the last game (even with Bass's glacial movement and Mila's overly redundant moveset). Here's hoping they flesh Mila's MMA moveset out some more, maybe adding a couple of more takedowns and ways to work from those positions (she's pretty much all double leg/mount in DOA5). Still not bad for a newcomer with a distinct style.
Between the Armstrongs and Lisa/La Mariposa, this series has Pro Wrestling pretty well covered. Hoping that the latter returns despite last being seen inside an exploding lab in the last game.
Outside of strict guests and "maybe" the extra Ninja Gaiden characters (Rachel and Momiji), I would expect the default roster to look a lot like DOA5: LR's's

Yeah, I had this game in the anthology and bought it stand alone on PSN. I'm not the greatest at it but it's still pretty fun. I've always loved how hard the moves hit. You're not going to eat a whole lot of hits in a given match compared to other fighters so you really have to make your attacks count. I believe Samurai Shodown introduced the idea of a rage mechanic in fighters and it's probably at its best in V. Really looking forward to seeing how the new one plays next year.

So yeah, Soul Calibur 6 is pretty fun. I'm working my way through the CAS story mode before delving into the main story. It's interesting and plays somewhat like a visual novel in that you have long text conversations (well, long for a fighting game) and one or two quick battles before going back into more plot, conversations, and the like. It's certainly not going to be everybody's cup of Joe because it is a LOT of reading (that's completely skippable but that defeats the point of being a story imo) with no voices (those are reserved for the main story).
The text of that one mode aside, the actual gameplay is friggin beautiful. It's fast, fluid, and really keeps you guessing with all of the new (and old) tricks at everyone's disposal. I was pretty hardcore against the introduction of a full super meter in SCV but they've really refined it here and it feels "natural" and takes advantage of the game's emphasis on offensive pressure. The new Reversal Edge mechanic confounded me a bit during the open beta a couple of weeks back but after playing with it for a bit, it's really not so bad (though the little slow-mo sequence while it's active should be allowed to be toggled off). I haven't tried "everyone" just yet but each of the 10 or so characters that I've tried offers something different and completely viable. I'm optimistic that the rest of the cast has these qualities as well.
For those who haven't played the series in a while or ever at all, it's probably as easy a technical fighter to get into as there's ever been, though the tutorial mode (only available in Libra of Soul, the CAS story mode that I led off about) could be a bit better.
The major "hit" against the game thus far is that the actual CAS mode itself doesn't offer as many costume options as the previous games in the series. You can do a lot of neat things with patterns and stickers that can make new "visual effects" on the pieces but that doesn't make up for the fact that so many items from the previous game alone didn't make it back in (which is curious because SCV has long been decried as being "incomplete"). With two story modes, FULL character stories for each character, and all of the standard online and offline fare, I well understand that CAS took a bit of a back seat but I'm not going to lie and say that it isn't lacking, which will undoubtedly be disappointing for people who are REALLY into customizing and creating characters. Still, where there's a will there's a way and there are already some cool creations out there despite the lacking number of parts.
That said, it's only been two days and I'm already well hooked. If I didn't have a damn special event to log in for on ESO, I wouldn't be playing anything else for a little while now. L

You know, if people want to make that sort of nonsense then all power to them. The only "trouble" with it is that for whatever godsawful reason, they decided to allow CAS character to be used in ranked matches without any option to toggle them off. Dong lizards and crude attempts at naked chicks are one thing. The Cube is a whole other box of "WHY THE HELL IS THIS ALLOWED IN ONLINE PLAY?" xD
Granted, the creator used a cheat device to make it but it would be less of an issue if they just let people choose whether they wanted to go up against players who are using CAS characters.
