List of edits being submitted to be drafted:
I'm arranging these edits in alphabetical order of the submitters and posting date of the edits.
Some edits have already been given names or designations (DP01, Goose Egg 1). If an edit doesn't have a designation, I just named it after the submitter and put a number there.
Desertpunk34 is the only creator who has made full edits available in addition to appearance-only edits. Everyone else has just provided appearance-only edits.
The links are to the pictures of the edits.
If an edit iscrossed out, that means that they were already chosen and are no longer eligible.

I put the introduction post in spoilers below for a more digestible first post experience
Hi and hi-like feelings to everyone! πββοΈ
A few months ago I had an idea that I discussed with Dawn and a few others. I was planning on posting it the next day. Then I disappeared for another few months, not to show myself again until the eve of today - yesterday's tomorrow. However, upon my return to this dimension, my original idea immediately returned to me.
LET US DO ANOTHER EDIT DRAFT! π
For those of who you were around in the long, long-ago days of the FPR community (spanning several boards and at least 3.5 dimensions), you may remember an "Edit Draft" that we used to do.
There were four basic steps for all willing participants.
1) CREATION: Create an edit appearance. Back in FPR days, there was only 1 appearance per edit. They'd say, "give me 1 bee for a buckle" and then we'd immediately ban them from the board. Bees are serious business.
2) SENDING: Send that edit to one person who would compile what used to be called an "edit pack" (this was from the old norse "rediger pakke" which meant to be bring an axe into battle or to fancy one's vittles.)
3) COMPILATION: The person who had the thankless chore of compiling the edit pack was thanked (...wait) and then posted pictures of all the edits for the world to see. People started to make lists of the edits they liked.
(Steps 2 and 3 would not be necessary thanks to the Workshop but I included them as a history lesson)
4) DRAFTING: Everyone who wanted a chance to "draft" one of these edits would send their names to a designated draft officiant. They would randomize the names and then run the draft. Each participant would choose the edit that they want out of the remaining pool when it was their turn. The draft itself was run "snake-style." π
For example, if the participants in the draft were: Jim, Bob, Bim, and Job, the order would be:
Round 1
Jim
Bob
Bim
Job
Round 2
Job
Bim
Bob
Jim
Once Jim made his first pick, that edit would no longer be available for everyone else. So people would have to make hard choices about the edits they wanted and sometimes improvise if their faves were taken.
Everyone usually had a 24-hour period to make their draft picks. And if they knew they wouldn't be around, they would send a list to the draft officiant of who they wanted in the order they wanted in case top picks were taken.
Okay Geese, that's a lot of fancy mouthwords for a simple concept that even someone like Bim can understand.
So why should we do this?
1) Community. Although there is a lot of excellent e-fed cooperation these days, there aren't that many non e-fed community projects around here with people working together. This can be one. They brought the community together. It was always cool seeing someone using an edit that you made, and vice versa.
2) It's just fun. There are some EXCELLENT appearance creators in this community. And it can be fun and energizing to work with edits that have appearances that other people make. Speaking for myself, a large portion of the upper midcard in my promotion has resulted from the edits drafts of 2015-2017.
The only question I have is whether we go from creating 1 appearance to the 4 we get in FPW. My instinct here is to say let's limit it to 2 appearances although I think some people could probably make 4 excellent ones in the time it takes me to make 1 decent looking one. Some people have that ability. I think it makes more sense to just give people a set amount of time to make "up to 4" if they want and then just leave it at that.
If people are into this, I think we should stick to just appearances like we used to rather than moves/logic/etc. That would be an interesting thing to try for the future though if we can get this going the first time with just appearances.
It's also easier now since no one has to compile a save. Just take a picture of your edit and we could post it in the thread. Then when it's time for someone to claim their edit, the edit creator can just share it with them.
This can be open to Steam and PSN users. While it's probably easier to limit this to Steam users, there's really no reason PSN users can't join in too. It's just that we would need more than one PSN user to make it worth it...unless you just want to pick your own edit. I don't see anyone drafting edits from a format that they don't have! But I see no reason why Steam and PSN users can't both be involved as long as we know which edit is from which format.
So, is anyone interested in participating in this? For the low, low price of making one edit appearance, you can be the proud winner of more than one edit appearance. The value is passed onto you, the viewers!
Stay tuned to the next draft to start in late December! We will prepare for it around November.
