Maybe you could do a scan of it and post it with the other guidebooks?

Astral Bout 3 (SFC)
The third and final game in the RINGS Astral Bout trilogy on the Super Famicom. Astral Bout 3 was the first game to include more than one officially licensed Wrestler (in 3's case, there are four licensed Japanese RINGS combatants): Akira Maeda, Mitsuya Nagai, Masayuke Naruse, Yoshihisa Yamamoto, Grom Gaza (Grom Zaza), Boris Goldman (Chris Dolman), Duke Bryce (Dick Vrij), Horace Felman (Hans Nyman), Willie Max (Peter Aerts), Johnny William (Willie Williams) Rob Schneider (Rob Kaman), Volk Warren (Volk Han), Nicholas Yusef (Nikolai Zouev), Jerardze Tariel (Tariel Bitsadze), Sotir Gorchev (Sotir Gotchev) An interesting game, I watched several videos on YouTube and the game seems deep and complex, the graphics are fantastic with large sprites of wrestlers, the music is excellent although there are some boring tunes. The game is little known and I only found the guide on gamefaq which you wrote for which thanks. What can you say and your opinion about this game? Do wrestlers have a lot of movement? In your guide, some wrestlers have two and some have five.

Maybe you could do a scan of it and post it with the other guidebooks? I plan to eventually get to it, going through all my manuals and guides. The plan is to go through them chronologically. saving for a document scanner or book edge scanner, that should be a game changer. My flat bed does about 1 to 1/2 page per minute... not too bad for manuals but guidebooks it fairly grueling holding it in place the whole time

The game is little known and I only found the guide on gamefaq which you wrote for which thanks. What can you say and your opinion about this game? Do wrestlers have a lot of movement? In your guide, some wrestlers have two and some have five. Next to Pro-Wrestling Sengokuden, Astral Bout is probably my least-favourite Japanese fighting/wrestling series. Astral Bout 3 may have the best graphics and smoothest gameplay of the series, but the cryptic grapple system and unforgiving A.I. always inspired me to never actually sit down and master the game's steep learning curve. I also think the player selection in Astral Bout 3 is pretty bland. Yes, AB3 was going for a faithful representation of the RINGS roster at the time, but gone are look-alikes of Gary Albright, Mike Tyson, Masaaki Satake, Yoshiaki Fujiwara, etc...
If you must play a Japanese shoot fighting/wrestling hybrid in 16-bit format, I recommend two of the following:
1 - Masakatsu Funaki Hybrid Wrestler Tougi Denshou 2 - Saikyou Takada Nobuhiko
And, if you want to crank up the difficulty even harder, try Fighting Network Rings on the PS1.

Damn, I'm disappointed. Where did you get the text for the gamefaq guide? Do you have a paper guide or manual? This game is too difficult.

Damn, I'm disappointed. Where did you get the text for the gamefaq guide? Do you have a paper guide or manual? This game is too difficult. When I started write guides, information for Super Famicom Wrestling games was pretty much non-existent. Even guides for the older Fire Pro games were basically Wrestler rename references at the most. Thus began my attempt at shedding light on these older titles.
For the most part, I didn't use manuals to write out my FAQ's. Most of my findings were either from trial and error, or feedback from readers, who were kind enough to send emails with any corrections. It was feedback from other Puro diehards that I discovered that:
- Masaaki Satake was a playable character in Takada Nobuhiko Saikyou The Pro-Wrestling. - Antonio Inoki was a super-secret character hidden in the PS1 port of Champion Wrestler Jikkyou Raibu. - Or, just recently, I was informed about the discovery of Howitzer (Big Van Vader) in the PC Engine version of the original Champion Wrestler.
When you stare at Japanese text long enough, you start to memorize certain alphabets. Which is how I began reading Japanese (and the Katakana alphabet, to be specific).
To know that Wrestling fans and retro gamers alike are still reading these guides after all these years (and appreciating the older Puro titles in 2023) brings a smile to my face.

While reminiscing about obscure games from yesteryear, a forgotten title called Cyber Sled popped into my mind. Cyber Sled was a pioneer in the 3D car combat genre; predating Twisted Metal by about two years, and was originally released in arcades by the fine folks over at NAMCO back in 1993. In fact, Sled was of the first games I purchased for my original Playstation 1 in the mid 90's. But, what does all of this have to do with Pro-Wrestler references?
Like Twisted Metal, each vehicle had it's own unique driver. The driver of the Centaur-2 vehicle is the brutish Hans Baird, who wears a red face mask similar to that of Big Van Vader. Hans is also sporting red and black spiked armour clearly-inspired by The Road Warriors. Lastly, the chain and beard Hans has could be a reference to Bruiser Brody, while the name 'Hans' could have been inspired by Brody's tag partner Stan Hans-en.

80's Mania Wrestling Returns is back with more Wrestler likenesses! The November update brings us Turducken is based on the Gobbledy Gooker. In Modern Mania Wrestling, this capped opponent is based on the late Bray Wyatt. Bandsaw Buck is based on Chainsaw Charlie. Studmuffin seems to be based on Brutus The Barber Beefcake and, appearance-wise, Rick The Model Martel.
Richie B. is based on MJF. Deni Dreadful is based on Julia Hart. Ayashi seems to be based on Giulia.

We've talked about 'Murder Grandpa' Minoru Suzuki's involvement with the Tekken series in the past. Here's an official Tekken trading card featuring the legend from 1998: For those new to this thread, Minoru Suzuki was in charge of motion capture for masked grappler King's moveset in Tekken 3. Could you imagine a Tekken fighting game where all of the moves were motion captured by Japanese Wrestlers? TEKKEN X NJPW, for example...

That’s really cool, Suzuki would have made a great cross over character (wtf were they thinking with that walking dead, cravat wearing dipshit with the bat?!?), maybe Sakuraba, Vader? Suzuki would have been a great fit though, I love that card!

Having Minoru Suzuki as a playable guest character in Tekken 3 would have made more sense than including Gon - an obscure manga dinosaur most people outside of Japan aren't aware of.

Yeah, I remember thinking who the f$&k is Gon. I liked his fart move, but you do it once or twice, then you’re over it. I seem to remember him being a pain in the ass to unlock, too.

On a somewhat related note, someone called Ulisoft made an SNK vs Capcom fan game featuring wrestling characters from both companies and King from Tekken (Only tangentially related to Capcom via Street Fighter X Tekken, but King's presence justifies itself). Here are some links if you're interested: gamejolt.com/games/pocketslam/182699ulisoft.itch.io/pocketslamplusI honestly wish there were more hybrid wrestling/fighting games like Slam Masters, 3 Count Bout, Blazing Tornado, Midway Wrestlemania, and Astral Bout. It's obviously a niche market within an already niche market, but I feel like there's untapped potential for something amazing. Also, when Tekken 7 did a collaboration with NJPW, why was there nothing for Minoru Suzuki?

Had a german video games magazin with a big article about Tekken 3... and photos of Minoru Suzuki doing motion capturing! Didn't knew him back there, but still remember those photos. I taught you everything you know. But I didn't teach you everything I know!
