What would you get if you mixed Hulk Hogan with Final Fight's Mike Haggar, Street Fighter's Zangief and Jackie Chan? You'd get Combat Kings:
Combat Kings is a Android IOS beat 'em up that was released in 2021. The two characters are:
Colby: this muscle-bound grappler embodies the classic big guy character. Strong throws, slow speed. Colby's spinning piledriver is a nod to Street Fighter's Zangief, while Colby's appearance is a cross between Mike Haggar from Final Fight and Hulk Hogan.
Donovan: reminiscent of Jackie Chan's many roles as a Kung Fu-fighting super cop.
Bonus points: I believe the NPC 'Officer Jenny' is a dead ringer for an unmasked Samus Aran from Metroid.

Hey everyone, just wanted to share my latest video on tecmo world wrestling. Hope you enjoy it. Another great video. Patman did Tecmo World Wrestling justice, and even covered the various Wrestler look-alikes found within the 8-bit classic.
As I've said several times before, I've always been a big fan of Pat's videos. In fact, I often listen to them while scanning game guides for this forum. Just hearing Pat's enthusiasm for retrogaming inspires me to work all the much harder to get those guides out there to you guys. Another characteristic that I personally enjoy about Pat's videos is Pat's love of Pro-Wrestling, which Pat brings up often in his videos (The History of Karnov, The History of Ninja Gaiden, Yie Ar Kung Fu, etc...). You get video game history, and pop culture references thrown together into one convenient package.
Straight to the point, informative, and still very entertaining. If you haven't watched Patman's videos already, give 'em a try. You'll be glad you did.
LOL, what a nice thing to say. You have given back to the retro wrestling game community 10 times over. Thank you my friend

For lovers of mobile Wrestling titles, Wrestling Arena was recently added to the Google Play store: Wrestling Arena's unofficial spokesman is a knockoff of Hulk Hogan and John Cena. We'll call him John Hogena. All of the Wrestlers are just John Cena dressed up in the ring attires of other WWE superstars such as: The Undertaker Sin Caras Rey Mysterio Hulk Hogan and Kane Wrestling Arena allows players to build teams with RPG elements to take on groups of opponents. As the game progresses, the opponents get tougher, which makes levelling up and recruiting stronger teammates essential.

Out today Brian Zane is in the game too. Have you had a chance to buy/play? I played the different demo builds and was impressed of what the studio was able to accomplish for a smaller studio (but weary the mechanics could be tedious after 20+ hours of gameplay) I apologize for getting a little off topic for the thread

No need to apologize, Cobrettie. I think the best part about this thread is the ability to share games, no matter how recent or obscure they are ,with other Wrestling fans. Especially those that feature appearances by recognizable Pro-Wrestlers. I might as well take the opportunity to let you guys know which guides and print materials I have coming next: Human Club 1993 Extra Issue (ヒューマンくらぶ1993号外) This pamphlet served as a promotional issue for two of Human Entertainment's games. Super Fire Pro-Wrestling III Final Bout, and Human Grand Prix 2. This particular pamphlet comes in a blue folder with Human's logo in Japanese and English. The hardest Fire Pro guide to find anywhere. The Super Fire Pro-Wrestling Special Bible. In the past, I posted the bible for Final Bout. Jikkyou Power Pro-Wrestling 96 Max Voltage Official Guide (Blue cover). I've seen a green cover version, too. I don't know what the difference is (but I believe Cobrettie is ordering a copy at the moment). The Tecmo Pro-Wrestling 1986 guidebook. Had I known PatmanQC was working on a video for the game ahead of schedule, I would have ordered one a lot sooner. All Japan Pro-Wrestling Strategical Fan Book Did you know that the Super Famicom All Japan Pro-Wrestling/Zen Nippon games had their own guidebook? For 1993, this photoshopped cover technically was THE first SNES/SFC mini. The cover is most likely a exaggerated reference to Giant Baba's stature as a giant.

I've been eyeing the Continue 11 magazine for awhile, I have found pieces of the interview online but having the whole article would be nice. I have not seen the book yet, I'll keep my eye out for deals on both!

A while ago, a forum member asked us to identify an unnamed, muscle-bound character. At the time, I didn't have a clear idea who the character was ...until now. The game the Wrestler was based from is 3D fighter Slam Dragon, which was released by Jaleco back in 1996 on the Sony Playstation. The muscle-bound character in question is Dick Gorunouskye. With Dick's country set to New York City (the home base of WWF), bandana, and being a Pro-Wrestling Champion, Dick is based on Hulk Hogan. Hulk Hogan is no stranger to being featured as a knockoff in Jaleco games. Other Hulk Hogan appearances include: Tuff E Nuff (Dead Dance in Japan) - as the character Vortz and Hammerlock Wrestling (Tenryu Genichiro no Pro-Wrestling in Japan) - as Sam Warhammer. Slam Dragon in action. Looks like a choppy Killer Instinct meets Virtua Fighter clone. The next Wrestler inclusionS comes from an email I received from a long-time pen pal of mine. First up, the character Dog Bower from the game Blue Stinger is apparently based on Dr. Death Steve Williams. The Blue Stinger wiki lists this trivia about Bower:"Dogs is likely to be based on the AJPW wrestler "Dr. Death" Steve Williams, who was a main-eventer in Japan from 1994 to 2002. While Blue Stinger was being developed throughout 1997 and early 1998, Williams was a strong prescense on AJPW television when the promotion was at its peak (part of the late 90s wrestling boom). Both have an identical build, appearance (black hair, beard, mullet, etc.), gruffy voice, and personality. In the game, it is implied that Dogs is a wrestling fan based on the Wrestling T-Shirt, which says "makes him feel like a professional wrestler". Much like Dogs, Williams in real-life had a daughter and a divorce in 1995".
Fans of Pokemon might appreciate our next entry: gym leader Crasher Wake is based on Big Van Vader. The Wrestler character Rawk Hawk from Paper Mario is based on Hulk Hogan. In certain versions of Paper Mario, Hawk is named "Hawk Hogan". As a bonus, in the Pokemon anime, the character Giant Takada is based on Giant Baba, while Don George was modelled after Don Frye.

You play two stories at the same time, get new wrestlers for your two team who have new moves. I'm 10 hours in. Really enjoy all those legends and hidden wrestlers with new names. Story is nice, all wrestling related. The BTE in almost all moves are a bit too much for me, BUT I use a PS controller, but STEAM recognizes it as a X-BOX controller, so all inputs on screen for the BTEs are wrong for me. Had to rewisre my brain to hit the correct buttons on the BTEs. There will be an update where you can turn off those BTEs/always win the BTEs.

Nice find, Pat! Talk about a super-deep research. This is why you're a V.I.P. member here. Next up is a browser-based Wrestling game (which I believe) was just released a month ago. Notice the spiffy CG renders? There are 24 characters to choose from. Initially, the player starts out with 3 or 4, and has to unlock the rest. Brogan Paw is based on Logan Paul. Bron Lester is Brock Lesnar. Becky Lynch. The Rock. John Cena. Bianca Belair. Roman Reigns. Rey Mysterio. Seth Rollins. Seth Rollins. Macho Man Randy Savage. Randy Orton. Gunther. Asuka.

I thought 5 - Star wrestling was pretty on the nose with "RagnaBrock" but Binky Flinch might be my favorite knock-off at the moment

Like many Wrestling gamers, I'm a glutton for punishment. In my previous post, I covered the first 16 or so Wrestlers in the browser-based title Wrestle Bros. Though, a large chunk of the roster had yet to be unlocked. That is, until now... Ronda Rousey. Ric Flair. Hulk Hogan. Rhea Rhipley. Ricochet. Cody Rhodes. Sammi Zayne. Mark Zuckerberg (I guess someone really hates facebook...) Elon Musk (and possibly Twitter, too). Charlotte Flair. All of the characters unlocked. Your mileage may vary, but it took me 260 games to unlock all of the Wrestlers. In the process, I also unlocked moves such as: the Piledriver, Stone Cold Stunner, Bulldog, Chokeslam, DDT, Leg Drop, and the Flip Elbow Drop. There's also customization options ( which are tiny graphics on the player's boots or chest). Personally, I don't really notice them during gameplay. While there is no referee on-screen, we do have a nice tribute to late WWF announcer Howard Finkel, who introduces both Wrestlers before the start of each match. If you look closely in the background, you may also notice two fan signs. These graphics display the names of the Wrestlers featured in the match. The biggest letdown for Wrestle Bros is the amazing renders of generic Wrestlers featured throughout the game. Stylistically, the overly-exaggerated visuals give off a Disney Pixar meets WWE All Stars vibe. Unfortunately, none of these Wrestlers are unlockable, serving merely as eye candy at the title and post-match menu screens. With most of the roster hidden, it was these renders that inspired me to keep playing ....hoping to unlock them. Wouldn't you want to play as these characters instead? More generic Wrestlers from a previous version of Wrestle Bros. I'm picking up some Hulk Hogan and Iron Sheik inspirations here. False advertisement aside, you can check out the whole game here (which also features an online mode): wrestlebros.io/
