Going back to Pro-Wrestling Sengokuden 1 for the PS1, it seems I made a number of mistakes in terms of Wrestler likenesses.
In fact, the "generic Wrestlers" featured in 'The Dawn of Pro-Wrestling Era' and other scenarios are actually based on legends from Japan's earliest Wrestling promotions.
Wrestlers found in promotions such as the Japanese Wrestling Alliance (JWA); as well as the early days of All Japan and New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
For example, the above Wrestler 'Chiaki Takao' is actually The Great Kabuki ...before Kabuki began wearing facepaint! Other than Fire Pro-Wrestling World, this is probably
the only place you'll find such an obscure inclusion in a Wrestling video game.
The grand champion of this scenario is, of course, JWA founder 'Gorikizan' (Rikidozan).
While I went back and corrected most of the generic Wrestler names listed on the previous pages of this thread, I was lucky enough
to come across a Japanese website that listed all of the additional Wrestlers found in the Dawn scenario mode:

Sadly, all of the foreign Wrestlers such as Mil Mascaras and Abdullah The Butcher are locked upon starting this mode. In order to see the foreign legends in action, you would
have to master the Japanese text, strengthen your Wrestlers to win matches, then get in contact with the game's other promoters, in hopes of signing contracts to acquire new
talent/free agents.
With top talent such as Rikidozan having an "A" rank and the player's starter Wrestlers usually containing an E to F rank, I would imagine the player will be tasked with levelling up
substantially before they can even consider booking a legends match.
Sadly, there is little video footage available for Pro-Wrestling Sengokuden. The Japanese youtube equivalent Nico Nico mostly sticks to simulated matches, no GameFAQ
guides exist and the few Youtube videos that are online don't really offer much in terms of Scenario mode footage.
My biggest problem with Sengokuden isn't the game's wall of Japanese text, but the inability to actually play as the Wrestlers. In a nutshell, Sengokuden is what Japanese
gamers refer to as a "spectator game"; an early example of a Pro-Wrestling simulator where the player has to rely on booking skills over standard gameplay prowess. As I
mentioned in the past, the first and final Sengokuden games are not intended for players looking for a traditional Wrasslin' experience.
Until I have the patience to master my Japanese Puroresu booking skills, this could very well be the last time I mention the Sengokuden series in this thread.
