Who knows, fame messes people up. The crap I was talking about happened a few years back. The guy I know has since moved back up here and he's as clueless about pro fighting as ever.

I'm looking forward to the start of the Premier League season. I'm hoping Liverpool at least finish 2nd, and win one of the domestic cups(the FA Cup would be nice).
As for my local team Burnley(who are also in the Prem, I watch them at least 3-4 times a season as it's very expensive to go watch Liverpool) I hope they stay in the Premier League after finishing 7th last season. But with potentally an extra 8 games in Europe added to their schedule and lack of new signings, it may be a long 9 months for the Clarets this time around.

Anyone catch Glory 56 and Glory 56 Superfight Series from Denver? Pretty solid card all around,a couple of really shitty mismatches though (think Vader squashing Barry Horowitz on an episode of WWF Shotgun), and a f%&king judging TRAVESTY with respect to the women's Super Bantamweight title fight. Champion Annisa Meksen (96-3-0 (30 KOs)) was a 28 to 1 favourite to beat 4th ranked Jady Menezes (12-2-0 (5KOs)), the fight went five rounds with Menezes pushing forward the entire time even though she was being pummelled by Mesen's jab and multiple front kicks to the face. Inexplicably, the decision went to Menezes, it was as though the "judges" were watching something else entirely. I hope, if Meksen stays with Glory after this, the "loss" lights a fire under her ass and she gets meaner. She's a technical expert, watching her in the ring is pretty amazing, but she's not much of a finisher (contrary to het 30 KO record), so maybe this will angry up her fists a bit. :) The main events were good but I was hoping for a Danyo Ilunga win over Artem Vakhitov, again VERY questionable judging in favour of Vakhitov, but it was a good fight nonetheless. Simon Marcus and Jason Wilnis was a good fight, and even though Marcus is Canadian, I was cheering for the Dutchman Wilnis (Marcus is annoying, great fighter, just a bit too much pageantry and bullshit, plus he likes to dance and burn rounds down if he knows he's up instead of fighting till the end.). a HIGHLIGHT reel KO by American Ryot Waller over Zack Wells was likely the result of shitty officiating, the fight should have been stopped much earlier than it was, hopefully Wells is okay, but DAYUM, Ryot can bang!

I dunno, I put Menezes ahead with a thousand pillow-fisted strikes. Meksen looked more composed and really chose her shots but... Honestly I think it could've gone either way. Sometimes constant pressure is enough for the judges. Like you said questionable judging in that and the Vakhitov/Ilunga fight. Maybe Cecil Peoples was on the judging panel lol. Mm and that KO, Waller's a killer - the just bleed gods smile down upon him

The NFL has completed their 2017 objective to define what a catch is.
Now they must complete their 2018 objective to figure out what a tackle is.
They are slowly re-learning the game.

Indeed it is. Funny thing, Harper has some tough foes on his record including Chris Arreola, so it's tough for me to think he got in there and got a case of the Nopes when he stared Ajagba down. His explanation COULD be truthful, that he felt like he wanted to make a statement and had planned that out ahead of time. Problem is, unless that statement is a retirement statement, that's going to hurt him badly in terms of finding any future fights. I can't see any promoter thinking they can trust him to fight after that. And there's the little part of me that thinks that it would be amusing that Ajagba was just so intimidating in the staredown that Harper got a case of the yips and got out asap before he got his head taken off.

Fight Night prelims from 25 Aug 2018, HOLY SHIT round of the year from Iuri Alcantara vs Cory Sandhagen. If you only watch one round of fighting this year, make it this one. I can't see how even non-fans wouldn't find this an incredible round, if not just for the fight itself, but for the depth of toughness humans can dig down into to survive what looks like a no win situation. Crazy, super entertaining round by both fighters! If they didn't walk out of that arena with a wheelbarrow full of cash each, the UFC should be charged with robbery!
Also, from Glory 57, the Chenglong Zhang vs Nafi Bilalovski fight featured one of this year's KO of the year candidates. Too bad it was judged an unintentional illegal strike and the bout was ruled a no contest. Still, one of the most violent and spectacular KO's I've seen, crazy stuff (tried to find a link, but with GLORY's UFC affiliation, it's harder to find video of their events these days).

Man, am I happy that college football season is back. And, most notably, Hawai'i went back to going with the Run N' Shoot in their opener at Colorado State. This is gonna be a great season, I can feel it!

If you haven't seen Justin Gaethje's KO he inflicted on James Vick, I suggest you check that out.
All the more satisfying considering Vick's unearned cockiness and affiliation with Lloyd Irvin BJJ.

Ah, I have the FN and the prelims all ready to go but haven't watched it yet but am pretty psyched to see it nao
First round, gaethje looks a little rough and Vick looks pristine at the time of the KO. I'm gonna guess Justin stood in the pocket and threw fists the entire time until he got Vick up against the cage there, Vick is a long fuckin guy. 6'2" right?

So instead of trying to negotiate ANY sort of pay raise with All-Pro DE, team captain, and all around monster player Khalil Mack, the Oakland Raiders wait until cut-down day to.....wait for it.....trade him to the Chicago Bears for draft picks (which isn't so terrible until you consider how the Raiders typically draft).
Aaron Donald Vonn Miller Khalid Mack
Those are probably the three most disruptive forces in the NFL at the moment. Donald got a HUGE contract this week that will keep him with the Rams for years. Miller got a huge contract two seasons ago that keeps him in Denver for at least 4 more seasons (including the upcoming one). The Raiders.....traded their all-world, generational talent.
The worst part about it is that there was apparently NO move to negotiate a new contract on the Raiders' part. Instead of trying to talk him down to a more manageable figure or generally communicating that they still wanted his elite talent on their team, they stonewalled him and now he's on another team.
Players of that caliber just don't move very often and when they do, there's usually some effort to retain them before sending them away.
They have the franchise QB to try to build around on offense but they just pawned off the much rarer defensive cornerstone for something that probably won't be worth it. Good on them if it does but at this specific moment it just seems silly. Like Oakland doesn't WANT to win or something.
Are there any Raiders fans on here? Do you think it works?
