For some reason I find it strangely amusing to let simulation games run on watch mode sometimes. Provided I have speedup and savestates, of course.
I was messing with different games on my Genesis emulator and, for some reason, found myself in a mood to load Nobunaga's Ambition (1988).
The game is based on feudal Japan in the late 1500s. In real life this period ended in 1600 with the establishment of the Tokugawa shogunate. Meanwhile, my savestate is currently in the year 1800 and shows no sign of stopping.
I'm beginning to think it can just run indefinitely, honestly. Every time a daimyo dies of old age, at least two newcomers stake their own claims.
I'll laugh if this reaches the 1900s, or even the 2000s.

With the surging popularity of retro-gaming and Spike at a standstill in regards to the Fire Pro series, I'd love to see a remake of X Premium.
Yes, talented creators are still releasing CAW packs in 2022, there's a hilarious English hack that's been floating around for decades and the WonderSwan had an updated version that came out 22 years ago. But, I still think there's plenty of potential for X Premium on modern consoles.
With wishful thinking, could you imagine: -Online play -HD Graphics -Hit detection bug fixes -An official English translation -Making Giant Baba (who is locked away in the game) a playable character.
Certain emulators may offer online play and the recent "Improvements to X Premium" hack addresses two of the above issues, but again, not an official release with all of the features bundled together in a standalone game.
Just a random thought.

Agree with your thoughts, X is a great game, unique even. The animation is somehow smoother and more pleasant even compared to world. Wrestlers constantly throw their opponents out of the ring and rest longer on the floor of the ring, but you need to fix the constant falling out of the wrestlers from the ring and a number of bugs that you described in other topics. Improve cpu logic. Add the ability to select music for the match, add even more memory slots for the created wrestlers.
But no one will do it.

I've got a soft spot for X Premium. It was my introduction to Fire Pro.

Some people might hate me, but I never fully liked the music in X Premium. There's some decent melodies, but the overall sound quality leaves a lot to be desired, in my opinion.
Having the option for an updated OST would be great, too. But, again, that would be wishful thinking.

The music in sfpw special is much better, there are many cool melodies, in X, alas, there are not so many of them, there are a couple, nothing outstanding.

Today's my birthday and I've been thinking back to a present I got on a previous birthday, Baldur's Gate. I've never actually gotten to play it. I first got it when it was new but I wasn't used to checking recommended specs on games because every computer game I'd tried so far had worked, so this was the first time I ran into one that didn't. A few years later we got a newer computer and I tried it again. This time it actually worked! I watch the intro, I create my character and... the game crashes. Oh well. It would be another few years before we changed computers again so, in the interim, I let my best friend borrow it. After getting it back I try to install it only for the installer to stall out part way through due to my friend not exactly being the best at taking care of things. Alas. I could probably just get the disc cleaned or, at this point, I could probably rebuy a digital download off of GOG or something, but I haven't had the patience for an RPG in some years. And that's my experience with Baldur's Gate, a present I got when I turned 15 where all I could do with it was read the manual. On a whim, I thought I would try installing it again. The game is now so old, setup.exe won't even run properly. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It would be nice to get a remake of No mercy and Virtual Pro Wrestling 2, damn, great games.

I love a good tool-assisted speedrun. (Flashing lights warning for the ending.)

I used to play Barbarian all the time as a kid. I was thinking I never won it, but I remember the boss.

I'm still playing Ninja Warriors Again on SNES/SFC. Maybe it's just me, but I've noticed some gaming similarities. Most likely coincidences, but I felt like rambling here anyway: The enemy 3SVO is basically a homage to Star Wars' R2D2 with it's name sounding closer to C3PO. Robotic boss character Gigant was first featured in the sequel to Ninja Warriors. The same year Jack made his debut in the original Tekken. Ninja Warrior's third game (Once Again/Ninja Saviours) from 2017 includes an updated Gigant that looks just like Gunjack from Tekken 3 (1998). The masked enemy Shadow Man (first two sprites) and the palette swap boss Kunoichi (far right) dates back to the first Ninja Warriors arcade game (1987). Both of which remind me of the original Kunimitsu - also from Tekken. Kunimitsu started off wearing a Hannya Mask (as a redesign of Yoshimitsu) and carried two kunais as well. The hunched back Tsuchigumo looks like he was redesigned as "Monkey" in the SNES sequel. Some would argue that Monkey is a miniature ripoff of X-Men's Wolverine.

So I was recently reminded that the original Perfect Dark was set in 2023, which is now next year.
